For Anesthesia "At separate times within a month, I had an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. I'd had Versed/fentanyl before for colonoscopy, and it worked fine (no lasting effects), but the nurse talked me into propofol for endoscopy, though I was a little leery, but I was very nauseous after. This time, I told them 'NO propofol;' however, she asked me if I'd ever had Benadryl (yes, for allergies). It seems they gave me propofol/Benadryl because I was groggy/unbalanced for hours after, even though they sent me home! I feel like I was overmedicated for this simple procedure! On the procedure sheet, the medication is listed as 'MAC anesthesia!' They want to change all anesthesia drugs over to propofol. I think I should complain to their Patient Advocate Dep."

For Anesthesia "I was given Propofol for a gastroscopy. The anesthetist gave me the first dose, and the injection site burned a little, and the vein felt cold, but I didn't fall asleep. So I was given another dose, and I fell right asleep. I am usually nauseous and vomit after receiving anesthetic, but I didn't have those side effects with this drug. I was alert and able to walk soon after I woke up, but I did feel sleepy for about an hour after the procedure."

For Anesthesia "I had surgery on my shin/calf area today, which took over an hour. I was totally unconscious the entire time and don't remember a thing until waking up. I did not have to be intubated. I do have a sore throat, but not intolerable. I had some mild nausea for about an hour. I was driven home by a friend, and after a 2-hour nap, I felt good."

"That is the BEST medicine EVER! Propofol = best sleep ever! I didn't feel any burning at all. My doctor gave me that, and I was out in a matter of seconds. Propofol is the best ever! You do get really cold because anesthesia does slow down the body's functions. Propofol does make for a great night’s sleep! I've had propofol a few times, and I didn't have any issues at all. I felt great, no nausea, no sickness, I felt great!"

For Anesthesia "I had this for chemo port placement/MAC. I’d asked for just local and fentanyl, but the anesthesiologist insisted on only propofol. Swore it never caused nausea. I told him it had before, but I wasn’t taken seriously. Burned like crazy because the resident didn’t loosen the BP cuff, so it didn’t flow well. Woke up with nausea and headache, which meant a longer stay. I had it 2 weeks before for induction with fentanyl, so the dose was smaller and given very carefully, so it wasn’t bad. This time, no pleasant drifting off. I felt awful the next day. Wish they’d listen! I know what works for me. He used Zofran, but no decadron, and I could definitely tell the difference in nausea level. Yuck!"

For Anesthesia "At 51 years of age, just had my first colonoscopy. Was only given propofol. Woke up smiling and happy, saying, 'I just had the BEST nap!' Within minutes I was dressed and on my way home. No nausea whatsoever. This drug worked great for me, and I thank the researchers and company that developed it. I'd been under general anesthesia before (fentanyl?) and didn't wake up as well-rested and nausea-free as with the propofol."

For Anesthesia "ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Going in for my endoscopy, I was wicked nervous... I’ve never had any procedure before, and I don’t even drink, so this was like my biggest fear. I was petrified to wake up nauseous, so I let them know ahead of time, and they said absolutely no problem and put Zofran in my IV prior. After that, she said, 'Okay, I’m gonna put the propofol in, you may feel burning going in.' I didn’t feel a thing! She said, 'You’re doing great, almost all in,' then I started to feel honestly high, ha ha, and then I was out! Woke up, felt great, I’ve woken up from natural naps feeling much worse, and then about 5 mins after I got up, they put me in a chair. I was a little dizzy, but no big deal. And within 20 mins, I was good to go. I’ve seen and read so many ridiculous things. From people waking up, acting a fool, to people saying they felt sick to their stomach. I was a-okay! But my surgical center was also amazing! Good old Massachusetts! Good luck, everyone!"

For Anesthesia "I'm 71 years old and had my first colonoscopy today. I was very apprehensive about the procedure as I do not tolerate any type of anesthesia well. I wake up with severe nausea and vomiting. My anesthesiologist told me about a type called propofol that would not give me the same issues. Just for extra precaution, he also gave me Zofran in my IV just prior to the procedure. I was leery about the results but was amazed that when I woke up, I had a little drowsiness but NO NAUSEA! Truly a wonder drug. No aftereffects either. I will definitely remember propofol for the next time I might need a procedure like this."

For Anesthesia "Had Propofol for a colonoscopy two days ago. So nervous but it was wonderful. It was administered, I turned my head, but it knocked me out and I was waking up in recovery. No nausea at all. I was EUPHORIC. I sang. I laughed so uncontrollably when nothing was funny. I mean nonstop roaring laughter. But be careful. I was woozy and almost fell over the bedrail. And I wanted to jump out of the car in busy traffic and dance. Would've been seriously hurt, or worse."

For Anesthesia "Had an endoscopy today and it went great, thanks to this medication! Felt a little warm as she was injecting the propofol. The first thing I noticed as I was receiving this med was my ears feeling full and the sound was muffled, and then I basically blacked out. Apparently, during the procedure, I had woken up (which I don't remember), and they had to give me a little extra. I felt fine afterwards, no nausea or headache. Just tired throughout the day."

Propofol for Anesthesia "I received propofol today for a colonoscopy, and it worked wonderfully. I was very worried, as past anesthetics caused severe nausea afterwards, but no side effects at all with this drug."
