For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with sunstroke. I was vomiting, a massive headache, and stomach pain. I became quite out of it and was moaning and in and out of consciousness. My mum called an ambulance, and they gave me a needle with a nausea medication (I can't remember the name), but it worked well, and the nausea started to disappear, but I was so exhausted I was still out of it. Once I got to the hospital, the ambulance men told the doctors what they gave me, but the nurse still decided to give me something else. She put in an IV of what I thought was just fluids, but I was wrong. My heart started to race, and I became anxious. I started shaking and had a massive anxiety attack wanting to rip my IV out. It didn't go away for 3 days!! DON'T HAVE THIS DRUG!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine in the ER. I had a headache, but I was more concerned about the eye pain and facial spasms. The nurse came in and administered the 'migraine cocktail' all at once. It hit me HARD. My body was on fire, and I couldn't stop moving. I asked if it was normal for it to hit people so fast, he said yes. He made it seem like I was overreacting, though. As soon as he walked out of the room, I started seeing flashing stars. It felt as if I was jumping off the bed/convulsing. I kept telling myself to just go to sleep but couldn't. I started crying as silently as I could because I was scared and embarrassed. I eventually fell asleep for a half hour. Woke up to them talking to me. I was still shaking and mentally out of it. Discharge felt like an eternity. I went home and slept forever. The day lingered, and I experienced a worse headache, muscle spasms, locked wrist, and an auditory hallucination. It is day three, and I still feel weird. I wish they could have warned me of side effects."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Goodness me, I went for extreme abdominal pain and nausea with vomiting and was given this since Zofran did not work at home prior to my arrival. I was already somewhat concerned as my partner had been given Compazine as part of a migraine cocktail and had the worst panic attack of their life. They administered it to them right into the arm; however, mine was being put through the IV saline bag as a slow drip, so I wasn't that worried; I figured it would infuse slow enough it wouldn't bother me. Boy, was I wrong. About 5-10 minutes later, I was so warm and overheated, my hands went numb as I began to panic for what seemed like no reason. I was full-on shaking and hyperventilating, as well as feeling trapped and somehow more nauseated than before. The initial panic lasted maybe 15 minutes, but I felt on edge for the rest of the day and like I was still fighting off a panic attack."

Prochlorperazine "I am so annoyed at my doctor for not telling me he was going to give me this drug. I was supposed to get morphine, so I was getting the injection, and I asked the nurse if it was my morphine injection, and she said he changed it to Compazine and Benadryl. Too late. The drugs were administered. I told the nurse I have an extreme sensitivity reaction to Compazine. Two days later and I am in bed at home at 11 pm, still shaking and unable to sleep. Better, but still extremely uncomfortable. I had Compazine 35 years ago, and it was bad, and it still is bad."

For Anxiety "I was sent to the emergency room due to an ECG coming up with some anomalies, and my doctor wanted to be cautious and do some investigations. I had mentioned I had a feeling of vertigo and was prescribed prochlorperazine, which was given to me through an IV. I’m 19 years old and was naive enough to think the doctor knew how to help. About 30 minutes in, I started to feel really agitated and started crying, I wanted to rip my IV out! My partner had to keep telling me just 45 more minutes, just 15 more minutes to let me know it was nearly over. I was shaking everywhere, I had no control over my own body. We had done some research and found out he had given me a psychotic drug?! It’s been 16 hours since having it, and I’m still struggling with ‘jitters’ or shaking. My heart rate has calmed down, but my nausea is still there. Vomiting was also accompanied by my reaction. I’ve been looking for how long these side effects will last, hopefully until tomorrow. PLEASE BE AWARE!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "In Australia, we call this Stemetil. I presented to emergency with dizziness, nausea, and just feeling off. Was given a dose of Stemetil through IV and the effect was instant! I had a panic attack and managed to calm down. They discharged me an hour later. I went home, and I could not control my body, my muscles were spasming like crazy, and I was shaking! Called an ambulance, and they took me to ED and was given benztropine. That worked for 2 hours. I woke up and still the same, intense muscle spasms and shaking. It took 6 months for me to recover from that one dose of Stemetil. I am so glad it was not permanent, as I couldn't imagine living life like that. I also developed a condition called POTS and was unable to stand for more than a minute without my heart racing. This also lasted 6 months. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!! I even read on the list of side effects that dystonia can be permanent from this drug! Don't risk it!!"

"I was given Compazine IV to treat a migraine. This made me feel more lousy than the migraine itself. I couldn't get comfortable, I was restless, I was pacing and anxious. My heart was racing, and I was trembling uncontrollably. I didn't know whether I wanted to lay down, stand up, or sit up. It is 24 hours later, and I still feel the same way. I am an RN, and I have witnessed others experiencing the same adverse reactions to this medication. I would not recommend this drug to anyone for any reason. The slight benefits do NOT outweigh the risks."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for uncontrollable vomiting and for nausea and severe pain in my stomach, and both times they gave me Compazine, and both times, right away, I felt my skin crawling, and I was shaky and couldn’t sit still. I literally felt like I was suffocating, my chest felt so tight, and I felt an uncomfortable panic attack. I couldn’t relax whatsoever. I could feel my heart racing. I felt like I was going to honestly die. They gave me 2 doses of Benadryl with it, but it did nothing. Whatever, never will I take this again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for a migraine, and they gave me this for nausea. Worst experience of my life! I immediately started feeling panicked and restless, and my heart rate shot up to 130 even though I was lying down. I ripped out my IV, got up, and paced around, convinced that I would feel like that forever. The nurse came in and told me it was normal and just wrapped me tight in warm blankets so I couldn't move. I couldn't stop shaking and crying until it went away a couple of hours later. Even the Benadryl they gave me as an antidote didn't work. I was wrong in thinking this was a rare side effect! Stay away if you can!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for nausea and a horrible migraine after a week of being COVID positive. The Dr. gave me the “migraine cocktail,” Benadryl and Compazine. After about 5 min, my migraine was gone, but I was shaking, sweating. I unplugged my BP cuff and wanted to unhook my IV. My body was uncontrollably moving, and my vision was impaired. The room felt like it was spinning and closing in. I urge you to be cautious when approving this cocktail to be pushed through your IV. I will never allow this to be given to me again. I thought I was going to die. It was an awful experience, and I had just gotten over COVID."

For Anxiety "I had three days of severe dizziness and had to phone 000 for an ambulance. The doctor diagnosed vertigo, and I was given an injection of prochlorperazine. Straight away, I had sweats, panic, tremors, and just couldn't wait to get home. I was given a prescription for nine days' tablets of the same, which I took as it was getting rid of the vertigo. My G.P. then gave me a month more. It is only now on reflection that I realize I had none of these awful effects before the vertigo. I have been left with internal tremors, which my doctors have prescribed a low dose of a blood pressure tablet, which would you believe has a side effect of dizziness! I won't be taking those! One tip: I have found that a drink of wine stops the fluttering and makes me calm... not to excess, but I'll rely on that and hope it will subside over time. I'll be careful never to be given prochlorperazine ever again. Reading these reviews has reassured me that it was that terrible drug."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Absolutely horrible. Was not told by the nurse prior to them injecting this horrible drug into me what it was or associated side effects. Within 15 minutes, heart went up to 150, anxiety out of control, and very bad shaking. This lasted for a good 48 hours until I had some form of relief. DO NOT TAKE."

For Nausea/Vomiting "DO NOT RISK TAKING THIS DRUG. I was administered this medication for a random debilitating headache. For the purpose of describing how bad the following 6 hours were of indescribable extreme agitation resulting from this drug, I must compare it to the following 6 days in the hospital (turns out the headache was an acute subarachnoid hemorrhage). I experienced an accidental codeine overdose, three tubes in me including an IV drip, urinary catheter, and another draining liquid out of my brain into a bag, severe anxiety triggering not a second of sleep in over 72 hours/subsequent delirium, two code blues, severe constipation/stomach cramps (nothing for 5 days), 1x double enema, a UTI from the catheter, and to top it all off, a GNO enema administered by two nurses who witnessed me cover myself in my own feces from uncontrollable shaking whilst giving birth to a rock in a bedpan. If I had a choice of taking a single dose of Stemetil or reliving this week, I would relive the week."
