For Nausea/Vomiting "Very effective for managing nausea. I took it three times a day for two weeks after suffering severe medication-induced nausea and found it allowed me to manage food and not constantly feel like I was going to projectile vomit. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews here, everyone is different."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ED July 10, 2021, for feeling dizzy and nauseous (come to find out I had fluid behind my left ear). Anywho, they gave me Compazine and Benadryl. Let me just say I felt worse leaving the hospital than going in. My dizziness and nausea went away, but I left the hospital feeling like a psych person. My body couldn't stop moving, but at the same time, I was extremely tired. I couldn't even drive home. This drug should definitely be off the market. It took a little over 14 hours to get out of my system."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "It was 1975 when I was 15. I had the flu for several days, vomiting every 15 minutes or so. The doctor prescribed Compazine. I only took one or two pills when my head turned uncontrollably to the left and then to the right (similar to having a stiff neck), but I was no longer nauseated. Later that evening, my eyes started rolling back in my head, and my head snapped back so that I was basically looking behind myself. I panicked and started taking off my clothes and running around the house. My mom took me to the ER. I had to find the drug in the PDR so they knew what I had taken. It was bad and scary."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this medication after vomiting for days on end and becoming dehydrated. (It was later found that I had a bad case of reflux which was being aggravated by my birth control.) After an IV of fluids to hydrate me, the ER doctor sent me home with Compazine. It helped with the nausea, and a couple of days later, I was able to get back to my daily activities. However, that second day, I began to feel like I was having a hard time getting a full breath in. Luckily, someone was home with me and my 2-month-old infant because my tongue felt like it was swelling, then my teeth began to grind, the muscles in my neck clenched, and I couldn’t make any of it stop to even be able to use the phone. My family rushed me to the ER where I was given a shot of steroids to stop the anaphylaxis I was suffering from. This drug is now on my allergy list. Worst experience with a prescribed drug!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Goodness me, I went for extreme abdominal pain and nausea with vomiting and was given this since Zofran did not work at home prior to my arrival. I was already somewhat concerned as my partner had been given Compazine as part of a migraine cocktail and had the worst panic attack of their life. They administered it to them right into the arm; however, mine was being put through the IV saline bag as a slow drip, so I wasn't that worried; I figured it would infuse slow enough it wouldn't bother me. Boy, was I wrong. About 5-10 minutes later, I was so warm and overheated, my hands went numb as I began to panic for what seemed like no reason. I was full-on shaking and hyperventilating, as well as feeling trapped and somehow more nauseated than before. The initial panic lasted maybe 15 minutes, but I felt on edge for the rest of the day and like I was still fighting off a panic attack."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "While on vacation, I went to the ER with dehydration and nausea, was given IV Compazine, and discharged. On the way home, with my husband driving, I began having thoughts of jumping out of the moving car! Once back at our rental house, I began pacing, couldn't sit still for more than a few minutes, felt my heart beating wildly in my chest, had an astronomical BP (which I only have problems with when I am anxious, but I do monitor on a daily basis), and considered jumping off the two-story deck more than once. I've never considered jumping out of a car or hurting myself in any way until receiving this medication. I literally felt as if I was going to come out of my skin due to extreme agitation. Finally, after about 6 hours of this nightmare, the effects began to wear off, and I've been okay since. I have no allergies to anything else, but I consider this incident the result of some sort of allergic reaction and now list it as such in my medical history everywhere I go. Proceed with caution!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for a severe migraine with nausea and stomach pain. I was given an IV cocktail of Toradol, Benadryl, and Compazine. Within 3 minutes of injection, the room went completely black, I thought I was going to faint, a wave of heat overcame my entire body, and my heart rate skyrocketed. I thought I was dying. I had an extreme urge to leave the hospital, I felt that I was not safe. I hit the call button over and over, begging for someone to help me. I was extremely restless, my jaw was chattering, I couldn’t stop moving my legs, I felt like I was crawling out of my skin. The nurses had to perform an EKG on my heart as I started having abnormal heart rhythms. After 20 - 30 minutes, I was able to calm myself down, however, I kept jerking awake with every sound, movement, or voice. I was admitted for observation overnight and hooked up to a heart monitor until I was released. Nurses said these are common side effects after the fact. I will never take Compazine again!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the hospital for diabetes, sugar level being increased. Well, on day 3 of me being there, the nurse asked me if I was nauseous, and I stated yes. However, I should have said no because it wasn't to where I needed medicine. He came back with a medicine and put it in my IV. Five minutes later, I jumped out of the bed on both feet. My heart was racing, I was burning up, I couldn't calm down, I ran to the nurse's station to get the nurse. He ran in the room to message the doctor to order a medicine. While he was typing, he stated, 'I bet it's the medicine I just gave you.' I asked why, have you seen people act this way afterward? He says, 'Yes.' So, why in the hell are you all not pre-warning people about this medicine? Now that I have discharged over a month ago, I have been having panic attacks randomly. At this time, it has been at least 5 over the last 30 days. My primary care sent me to a therapist. She said she thinks this is an isolated event and do not want to diagnose me with anxiety."

For Anxiety "I was sent to the emergency room due to an ECG coming up with some anomalies, and my doctor wanted to be cautious and do some investigations. I had mentioned I had a feeling of vertigo and was prescribed prochlorperazine, which was given to me through an IV. I’m 19 years old and was naive enough to think the doctor knew how to help. About 30 minutes in, I started to feel really agitated and started crying, I wanted to rip my IV out! My partner had to keep telling me just 45 more minutes, just 15 more minutes to let me know it was nearly over. I was shaking everywhere, I had no control over my own body. We had done some research and found out he had given me a psychotic drug?! It’s been 16 hours since having it, and I’m still struggling with ‘jitters’ or shaking. My heart rate has calmed down, but my nausea is still there. Vomiting was also accompanied by my reaction. I’ve been looking for how long these side effects will last, hopefully until tomorrow. PLEASE BE AWARE!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "In Australia, we call this Stemetil. I presented to emergency with dizziness, nausea, and just feeling off. Was given a dose of Stemetil through IV and the effect was instant! I had a panic attack and managed to calm down. They discharged me an hour later. I went home, and I could not control my body, my muscles were spasming like crazy, and I was shaking! Called an ambulance, and they took me to ED and was given benztropine. That worked for 2 hours. I woke up and still the same, intense muscle spasms and shaking. It took 6 months for me to recover from that one dose of Stemetil. I am so glad it was not permanent, as I couldn't imagine living life like that. I also developed a condition called POTS and was unable to stand for more than a minute without my heart racing. This also lasted 6 months. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!! I even read on the list of side effects that dystonia can be permanent from this drug! Don't risk it!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I had a migraine, had this through an IV with Benadryl, Toradol, and obviously Compazine. Within 5 minutes, I had nausea. I had a panic attack and could barely breathe. I tried to take the BP cuff off. I had anxiety and felt like I couldn't fall asleep. I fell asleep in the hospital bed after 15 minutes of pure torture and slept for 45 minutes. I woke up, barely able to breathe. I got discharged and went back home. The headache was gone, but I felt like I could barely breathe. Some depression was triggered, I wanted to die. I couldn't even take a nap, even after 45 minutes. I couldn't do anything, reading a book was awful, browsing the internet was awful. Side effects wore off after 48 hours. I had the exact same experience next time I had horrible migraines. I wish I just had the migraines."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this junk after having my gallbladder removed. Long story short, I had a severe allergic reaction that caused lockjaw, nausea, and my throat to close. I was on my deathbed two nights in a row. Literally sucking in as much air as I could as my throat was closing. ER saved my life. Worst meds ever!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for uncontrollable vomiting and for nausea and severe pain in my stomach, and both times they gave me Compazine, and both times, right away, I felt my skin crawling, and I was shaky and couldn’t sit still. I literally felt like I was suffocating, my chest felt so tight, and I felt an uncomfortable panic attack. I couldn’t relax whatsoever. I could feel my heart racing. I felt like I was going to honestly die. They gave me 2 doses of Benadryl with it, but it did nothing. Whatever, never will I take this again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "My mom had gone to the ER for extreme nausea related to her Crohn's Disease. Within seconds of her receiving this drug, she began to go in a panic, describing it as 'feeling like crawling out of her own skin.' She was in so much distress and begged for something to make the feeling go away. It took about 3 hours for her to finally get some rest. We are currently fighting even worse episodes that involve her showing signs of, and I hate to say it, schizophrenia. She becomes very paranoid, starts having uncontrolled muscle movements, and cannot seem to breathe. We don't know what to do at this point, and her doctors don't seem to believe us. It has been about a month since this began. Does anyone have any recommendations or treatments?!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Scariest medicine in the world. Was given Compazine yesterday night when I was admitted to the hospital. Doc gave it to me for nausea and anxiety. Made it worse! I had suicidal thoughts, wanted to check myself out of the hospital but couldn’t because I was losing so much blood. My legs and arms are restless even a day after. I’m so mad I was given this drug after seeing all these reviews and all the same side effects. So sad."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I agree with the review about how all these other reviews have identical symptoms. I too question if they are for real. I had a migraine and severe nausea, and a simple 5 mg over an hour's time worked for me."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the ER with horrible migraines that I haven't had in many years. Also was nauseated from the migraine. The nurse came in, took blood, then gave me the medication. This medication made me feel amazing. I read all the reviews, and being on medication for many mental illnesses since the age of 16, I know this for a fact: the ones who had the crazy side effects were having that reaction because they definitely don't have anxiety. Anytime my doctor would say try this medication, and I would get bad side effects, I would look up what the medication was for. If it wasn't the right medication for what I was suffering from, I would have horrible side effects. It was meant for a different illness. Most medications say they work for a certain complaint, but if you aren't suffering from that illness, you will have crazy side effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this for nausea. Within seconds, the taste had me gagging harder. I persevered but had to spit it out. The only way I can describe it is a feeling of being poisoned. Reading the horror story of others who have swallowed this drug, thank God my body had such a violent reaction to it!"
