For Nausea/Vomiting "I had extreme nausea from an assumed stomach virus, and while I still had some nausea, I felt better, and it took away the feeling of having to vomit. So, minus some diarrhea associated with that stomach bug, I didn't have any vomiting, and my nausea eased up."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This drug is hell!!!! I went to the ER because I was extremely dehydrated and feeling nausea and had a migraine. I had the craziest anxiety of my life that lasted for 24 hours, and the worst part is that I'm prone to having anxiety panics from this moment. It took me a few years to be able to talk about it without having body memory of how horrible it was. Please don't take this."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the ER for nausea and dizziness. They gave me this horrible medication in my IV. Once it hit my bloodstream, I went straight into panic mode. I wanted to rip the IV out and run home. I had anxiety and panic attacks since they gave me this horrible medication. It needs to be taken off the market. Doctors need to warn patients about the side effects before giving it to them. Just horrible."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Couldn't stop a migraine due to spinal stenosis. Went into ER and my blood pressure was super high. They gave me Compazine to help stop nausea and vomiting. It felt like I wanted to jump out of bed. Lasts a few days where it's just a really bad anxious feeling I had never had before. I never want to experience that again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have BPPV and have tried many different tablets, none of which had any effect until I tried these, which I have been taking as a preventative measure for around six months. They are great for preventing nausea (not so good at stopping nausea if it has already started - especially if you are unable to keep them down long enough!). The downside is that they do give me absolutely blinding headaches (taking lots of co-codamol helps!) which can last for a few days. Due to this, and the long-term effects they can have, I try to limit the amount I take and am finding that one tablet every three days is generally doing the trick. Due to the length of time the headaches last and the length of time between taking tablets, this suggests to me that they stay in your system for a few days. As I have been an insomniac for a few years now, I cannot comment on the drowsiness. In summary, they are not perfect but are an acceptable alternative to spending my day at work vomiting and staggering around like a drunk, which happened more than once before I started taking these tablets."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this by my doctor to treat the nausea I was experiencing due to gastritis. I woke myself up screaming, crying, and sweating with night terrors. Each time I went back to sleep, the nightmare would continue where it left off. When I got out of bed, I found myself getting really upset, crying and pacing the floor. Certainly won't be taking this again!"

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Went to the ER for a migraine and was given Compazine in IV. Within a couple of minutes, I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I literally was ready to rip my IV out. My husband went and got the nurse. I told her to get my IV out, and I didn’t care what she had to do, but I was leaving. She acted like I was a nut job but went and got the doctor. He instantly knew what it was. He said, 'Oh, I’ve seen people run out of here on this stuff.' Then why would you give it to anyone??? He gave me a big dose of Benadryl, and it did help, but I had to walk for hours. Strangely, Raglan does the same thing to me. I’ve taken Phenergan for years and had no problem until 2 months ago, and now it does the same thing. Anyone experience this with these drugs? For someone with chronic migraines with nausea, this is a problem. So far, Zofran seems to be okay, but this is one of the scariest feelings. You literally want to die and can’t stop moving. Be cautious if all these drugs they give you for nausea."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I have cystic fibrosis, so I am constantly in and out of the hospital and have been through various drugs throughout my life. I struggle with severe anxiety, panic attacks, and OCD. I was admitted for routine IV antibiotics, and the meds made me extremely nauseous. I was given Zofran, and that didn't help, so they decided to give me Compazine. The nurse injected this drug into my port, and the effects were instant. I felt anxious, jumpy, and thought I was going crazy. My room was so small, which made it worse, and I was pacing around, ready to pass out. I thought I was going to have to be admitted into the psych ward. I rang my nurse and let her know what was happening, and she had me lay down, my legs started shaking uncontrollably. She got the doctor, and that's where my legs started locking in place and I couldn't move them. They pumped me full of Benadryl and Ativan to calm me down. It took a good 24 hours to feel relief, this induced severe PTSD from this experience."

For Nausea/Vomiting "We currently have a case of Norovirus in the house. My daughter succumbed the other day with a 101 fever, violent vomiting, etc. I feared I was next, having shared food with her before her symptoms went 'viral.' I came down with a low-grade fever and intense acid burn. Thankfully, I remembered that I had this med left over from a recent surgery. The acid burn is down and my 100-degree temp stabilized to 99.5. So far, it is working for me as I've been proactive before the nausea sensation strikes. Sadly, I'm down to two pills, so will see if I can, at least, bypass the vomiting phase of this horrific virus."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I went to the ER for a post-lumbar puncture headache and was given a Toradol, Benadryl, and Compazine cocktail. As soon as the Compazine went in, I immediately started shaking and couldn’t stay still. It’s like I was fighting myself inside. I couldn’t figure out why I was so jittery. I kept making excuses to get up and move. I wanted to take my IV out and leave. I’m home after 5 hours, and I still can’t rest. I’ve had both Benadryl and Toradol plenty of times, so I knew it wasn’t those. I just took 2 Benadryl to try and calm down enough to sleep. Man, I will never try that again. I had no idea it would do that! I regret every second of it! I’d rather have the headache and nausea. Bad drug!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I’m sure this drug does work for some people, but as for the majority of us, it is a nightmare. When I was pregnant with my last child, I vomited several times a day, and in the end, I only managed to gain 14 pounds. I was very ill. Compazine was one of the few drugs that they can offer pregnant women. After I took the first pill, my nausea subsided. In its place, I had the worst anxiety that I have ever experienced. I couldn’t keep still. I wanted to just escape from my body, but of course, I knew it was the pill, and I just paced and wrung my hands until it wore off. I decided after that I would rather deal with the vomiting for the rest of my pregnancy. Fast forward 20 years. Since my encounter with Compazine, I made certain that I always had it listed with all of my physicians, right after shellfish as something I was allergic to and should never be given. I was given some in an IV since then and had the same issues."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for a migraine that was causing me to vomit every 15-30 minutes and eventually threw my heart rate out of rhythm. They gave me IV saline and Compazine. I have mixed feelings because it worked like a miracle for the nausea, but within minutes I felt like my skin was crawling and I would die if I couldn't get out of there right away. It was like restless legs but all throughout my body. I only waited about another hour to get discharged, but it was the longest hour of my life, just absolutely miserable. My mom was with me and said the effect came on visibly, quickly, and a bit scarily. The drug did what it was intended to, but the side effect was bad enough that I don't think I will ever take it again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "They gave it to me to help with the anxiety and nausea from being in severe pain and the like. It felt like I was going crazy, couldn’t sit still, groggy but restless and antsy, pulling on my hair, wanting to throw things and rip my IV out. Benadryl didn’t help. Ativan did. Now, after 6 or so hours, I’ve only got a smidge of grogginess now."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Uh... No, just no. I was given this through an IV at the ER for nausea because of issues with my gallbladder. Seconds after getting this, I felt extremely hot. I was so agitated my leg was moving like crazy, and my lip and teeth were gripping together so badly that I thought I was going to break my teeth. I was asking the doctor to let me leave. They had to give me Ativan to help me relax, and thank God that worked. I never in my life want to be on that medicine again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I can only iterate what people on here have been saying. I was admitted to the ER for feeling nauseous, and without asking me, they injected Compazine into me. At first, my symptoms got better, and I felt fine. About 30 minutes later, I started to feel really, really terrible. I became so anxious I had no idea what to do with myself. I was meant to be waiting with a couple of friends of mine in the ER for my blood tests, but I ran out and left my friends to go home. I paced my house and couldn’t stop. I felt so anxious and restless that I thought I was dying. I was convinced I was having a stroke. My heart was racing, and I couldn’t breathe. I’ve never had a panic attack in my life. It was the worst experience of my life, and it lasted almost 48 hours. I genuinely have PTSD from this experience. Do not, under any circumstances, take this medication."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the hospital today because I was suffering from vertigo and nausea. They gave me this medication to stop that, and instead, I had the worst-ever panic attack and could not stop shaking. Felt like I was about to jump out of my own body and just all around a very disgusting feeling of not being able to sit still. Thankfully, went to another hospital that gave me an antidote against this. Felt better almost immediately and fell asleep. Still feeling a little jittery at the moment, but not as bad as before, which is good. But I wouldn't recommend this. Ask the hospital for a different drug to treat you, this was the worst experience of my life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given prochlorperazine for a 3-day-long intractable migraine and associated nausea in the ER, and it was the worst thing that I've ever experienced. The Dr. had ordered a CT because of the severity of my symptoms, and I was waiting to go have it done when they gave me the migraine cocktail containing Compazine, and my reaction to it was that I was so panicked and convinced that I was going to die that I ripped out my IV and left the ER. Thankfully, I have a regular Dr. whom I told about this, and he noted in my charts that I'm not to be given it again. Not only does it make me feel like I'm dying, it doesn't do a darn thing for my nausea."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I had a severe migraine for 2 days. I was in so much pain I had blurred vision and nausea. Tried to take my prescribed PRN migraine medicine, but I threw up. The ER nurse gave me pain meds and fluids in my IV, as well as steroids. She came back and said the doctor had ordered Benadryl and Compazine for me. I asked what it was, I have always been given Zofran. She stated it would help with the nausea. She added the syringe of Compazine to my 1000 ml bag of saline. But she did not mix it, the bag was already hanging. I do believe I got a much larger amount administered at one time because of how she added it to the hanging bag. Within 5-10 minutes, I was panicking, couldn't sit still, but I was too dizzy to stand. I tried ripping the IV out, crying at my husband that we needed to leave. I couldn't explain why I was upset or answer his questions other than I needed to go/get out. The IV needed out. The nurse came and stopped the IV. Took 30 minutes for the panic, terror, and confusion to pass."

"Horrible drug. I woke up one morning feeling dizzy and nauseous, went to the doctor. They explained I had vertigo. The doctor did a neck test on me, then the nurse administered the prochlorperazine into my IV. Five minutes after, I felt the room closing in on me and felt completely restless and irritable, felt like I was going crazy. I told my partner to tell the nurse what I was feeling. She came to me and said that it was a common side effect to feel “loopy.” However, this is way worse than loopy, it almost made me feel suicidal. I kept sleeping and sleeping to get over the feeling, but it’s still there. It’s only been about 7 hours since I was administered this drug, and reading up about it really made me feel better because I thought I was losing it. From what I read about the side effects easing up, I guess I have about 48 more hours to go until I feel completely normal. I never want to feel like this again!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was admitted to the ER for a car wreck. I was given this drug for nausea and vomiting through an IV. I was released from the ER. Three minutes after being released, I had a panic attack. I went home, took a shower, and began to have really dark thoughts. My husband and I returned to the ER, where I was admitted. Well, it has been three months later, and I am still not back to my normal self. I have visited three doctors, and they have diagnosed me with anxiety, and I am currently taking Buspirone. I have never had a history of anxiety until I was given this medication. My life has been a living hell since the administration of this drug. I can't concentrate, have constant thoughts about death, and am always crying. I was living a happy and normal life before this. Please do not take this medication!! Any suggestions?"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Terrible drug. Was given morphine through IV pump while in the hospital for a broken femur, and it made me extremely sick with nausea and vomiting. I was given Compazine and immediately had a bad reaction. I felt like my skin was on fire and began hallucinating that I saw demons crawling on the ceiling. I have no history of any kind of mental illness. The nurses were completely disgusted with me pleading for help and ignored me. I suffered through 6 hours of hell before it finally wore off enough so I could sleep. I would rather vomit than go through that again!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I've had Compazine a few times due to suffering from severe migraines. It's never pleasant, but I was trying to make it to a shift at work, so I asked if I could have the migraine cocktail without whatever makes you so tired (Benadryl). I quickly learned this was a huge mistake. After they put this in my IV, I started shaking uncontrollably and could barely stay in bed. The shaking and spasms quickly became painful, and it did not help with the nausea at all because I threw up a few minutes after receiving it. I had pressed the call nurse button before the vomiting and asked for literally anything to stop whatever was happening. They gave me some Benadryl through the IV, which did help somewhat, however, I'm sure it was just because they gave me enough to knock me out. My review doesn't even come close to describing how God awful this medication actually is. If you're ever offered this for nausea, ask for something else or just throw up, I promise it's better than taking this."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with sunstroke. I was vomiting, a massive headache, and stomach pain. I became quite out of it and was moaning and in and out of consciousness. My mum called an ambulance, and they gave me a needle with a nausea medication (I can't remember the name), but it worked well, and the nausea started to disappear, but I was so exhausted I was still out of it. Once I got to the hospital, the ambulance men told the doctors what they gave me, but the nurse still decided to give me something else. She put in an IV of what I thought was just fluids, but I was wrong. My heart started to race, and I became anxious. I started shaking and had a massive anxiety attack wanting to rip my IV out. It didn't go away for 3 days!! DON'T HAVE THIS DRUG!!"

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I was given Compazine this while in the ER for my appendix. I was still nauseous and couldn’t have Zofran yet, so they started this. This drug made me crawl out of my skin. One of the worst feelings I have ever had."
