For Constipation "Recently, I found myself to strain more and more to poo in the morning. Then one morning, I couldn't go at all. As I know that my body doesn't handle missing a bowel movement well, I started looking up remedies. I decided to start with the most gentle, so I started with Colace and lots of fiber and water. I still couldn't go the following day, and it was getting pretty uncomfortable, so I saw a doctor, and she told me to use PEG. I rushed to the drugstore and took 17g at noon. Soon afterwards, my cramping got worse and worse to the point where I had to lie down to get relief. The following day, I woke up and had 17g of PEG, and soon after, the cramping was so bad that I was thinking of going to the ER. Two hours later, a nice bowel movement happened."

For Constipation "I started having constipation in my early sixties, the rabbit form. My doctor recommended Metamucil, which I have taken faithfully for several years. I also drank lots of water, more movements, but still rabbit form. I eat fiber foods, but it does not help much. I finally decided to try Emolax, recommended by a doctor. It worked about three days after taking the first dose and taking it each day at the same time. RELIEF, it was great to have a normal, soft movement so easily. Tiny bit of cramping, but not uncomfortable. You should definitely try it. It works and is very easy to take, no unpleasant taste. Metabolism slows as we get older, and we must not let our bowels become impacted, very uncomfortable, very dangerous. This is simple relief for a very common problem. It is not fun being obsessed with our bowels, it takes away the joy of life!"

For Constipation "I bought this laxative after seeing the commercial on TV - I thought it would be effective with few side effects. It is a complete waste of money. After 3 days, I am extremely uncomfortable. I have constant abdominal cramps and pressure, terrible gas, and only managed to pass a small bowel movement. I have even increased the dosing to twice a day to try and get relief, but to no avail. I will not use this laxative again."

For Constipation "Works fine for me. Prescribed by my doctors to take twice a day, but I don't use it that often. No cramping, no diarrhea, and have used it for colonoscopy prep. Have heard the horror stories, but it works well for me."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 for Constipation "As I aged, my bowel motions became increasingly difficult. The physicians I consulted recommended more water, dietary fiber, exercise, etc., but none had a lasting effect. I tried synthetic glucose derivatives-lots and lots of gas and cramps! For me, dietary fiber produced too much uncontrolled gas. The osmotic agents produced too much water loss, and I was warned about potential electrolyte imbalance. Finally, I tried PEG3350, and Nirvana! It's convenient, tasteless, dissolves in all liquids, stable, and for me, no apparent side effects. I discovered if I titrate the dose, I control the nature of my bowel motion. As an OTC product, it seems to be one of those rare preparations that won't put me in the hospital."

For Constipation "Terrible cramping, humiliating gas, and gut-wrenching diarrhea for two days, and still going on -- after taking only 1/2 teaspoon for 2 days. All websites fail to explain what ingredients are in this medication while warning me away from allergic reactions to the ingredients."
