Oxymorphone for Pain "I started Opana about 5 months ago. The withdrawals make you feel like you have the stomach bug and flu at the same time. Night sweats, every bone feels broken, stomach cramping, strange negative thoughts that aren't real. This medication didn't help at all with my disc herniation, gout, broken foot, sore tooth. First night, I wondered if I would make it through the night. I was on 40 mg twice a day, 12-hour ER. I wouldn't suggest this medication to anyone. It's hard to require medication assistance just to move, but it's even worse being on a medication that didn't help and caused the worst withdrawals of my life. It took 9 days to feel better! Good luck."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I've been on oxymorphone for 10 years. My Dr. just put me on Opana 40 mg instead. It's been 3 days and I'm going through withdrawals. I have gastropathy, which slows down your digestive system. Seems my pain Dr. doesn't care. I had the test a couple of years ago that checks to see if you're on the right medications. It showed that the oxymorphone and Roxicodone were being processed and were the right medications for me. A couple of months ago, they wanted to put me on a morphine patch. And I said no. I think that he is being paid to write Opana scripts all of a sudden, which to me is BS! I hate the gel Opana, it doesn't digest properly. My insurance prefers generic because it's cheaper. I prefer it because it took care of my pain, whereas Opana doesn't."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I normally take generic Opana (oxymorphone) 30 mg, and it works great for my pain. I can function well, such as going to the store, doing light yard work, and enjoying family. But I recently got the brand name Opana (Endo), and it is awful. I'm in so much pain and experiencing withdrawal symptoms. It's been 18 days, and it is still like taking a placebo. My breakthrough oxycodone 30 mg is the only thing keeping me out of the hospital. I've been in bed 90% of the time since taking this Endo brand. I think it's the amount of additive in the medication."

Oxymorphone for Pain "Find the use of these to be easy to take and has been very helpful to me. I have had no side effects, other than the 12 hours ends a little bit less than this! Have found that taking them at 12-hour intervals has not been quite right. I see that sometimes I have a little less than 12-hour help, and other times have gone 14 to 15 hours and been fine. Depends on digestion maybe. Urinalysis showed the rate in my body to be less sometimes and not sure why? Do know that while I was sick with the flu, I wasn't able to keep down these and did have side effects of withdrawals."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I suffer from chronic neck/upper back pain due to spinal stenosis, spinal spondylosis, cervical neuralgia, etc. I've had multiple anterior and posterior fusions (C5-C7) and revisions due to pseudoarthrosis (non-fusion). I've been on opioids for 7 years. Due to insurance coverage, my pain doc switched me from Kadian (10 mg 2x/day) to Opana ER (5 mg 2x/day), and I immediately experienced a HUGE increase in pain. I also take Percocet (10/325) for breakthrough pain. I experienced minor withdrawal symptoms, which I thought was odd since I was actually taking slightly more morphine daily. My pain doc explained it was due to how the body metabolizes Kadian. Opana did nothing for me."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I have been on pain medicines since 1993 for back pain. I have been taking OxyContin 40 mg 3x per day. Last month, my pain management doctor said that he was no longer writing for OxyContin because of it showing up on the streets of our community. He said I had the choices of morphine, methadone, or Opana ER. I chose Opana, so now I am on 30 mg twice a day. The only benefit that I am experiencing is that it takes away the withdrawal symptoms, and they don't drop you like when an OxyContin wears off, but for me, the pain is still there."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I switched to Opana ER this year, as the Morphine ER I had been forced to take since last summer made me very nauseated (even with nausea meds), caused terrible headaches, and didn't cover my pain adequately so I could live some sort of life. I have loved the Opana ER. I take 40 mg twice a day, and after the first month in which the switchover was difficult, there have only been a few occasions where, after I took the drug, I started going through withdrawal. I'm not sure what was wrong with the pills, as I set an alarm to take them and confirmed I took them. Now I am in the donut hole. Endo Pharm won't help because there is a generic which costs more than the Opana. Don't know what to do."

For Pain "I started on opioids in 1998 due to sciatica. I was prescribed 3 hydrocodone 5/325's per day back then, and it was partially effective. It was used in conjunction with spinal injections of several different drugs, with varying degrees of effectiveness. The injections continued every three months for several years. The pain increased over time, as did the meds. I went from 3 5's per day to 4 10's per day and then to methadone only. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. I had spinal fusion S1-L5-L4 in 2009, and all the pain was gone! All gone! I weaned myself off of methadone until I finally went cold turkey. I went through the withdrawal from hell. I will always remember that final night... the stomach cramps and muscle cramps and spasms everywhere."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I was hurt on the job back in 2006. Had a disc removed and fusion of L4 and L5 in my lower back. I have suffered for years with chronic back and leg pain because of this injury. I was on 80 mg of Percocet a day for 2 years and was taken off of it, cold turkey as they say, by my Dr. After 5 days of terrible withdrawals, my Dr. put me on OPANA ER 10 mg tabs, twice a day. They helped me with my withdrawal symptoms but didn't do much for my pain. My Dr. agreed to up my dosage to 30 mg, twice per day. WOW!!! What a difference these 30 mg pills make. Pain is about a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 and I can finally sleep again. It is known that only 10 percent of your dose is actually absorbed by the body and the rest is eliminated when taken orally."
