For Pain "I suffer extremely with a genetic disorder called Familial Hemiplegic Migraines. So severe that I truly no longer have a life. I'm confined to my bed at least 5 days out of 7, throwing up and extreme pain that even my nails and hair hurt. I've suffered a severe heart attack due to my migraines in 2007 (high blood pressure). With these migraines, I suffer through strokes only on the left side of my body! Having my pain medication allows me to live somewhat of a normal life. I can play with my 11 grandchildren again, finally!! But now those of us that are actually in real pain (and not drug addicts or drug dealers) are being treated like we are, in fact, drug dealers and addicts and are now being refused our pain medication. I wish those that created these rules could live in our pain just for one day."

Oxymorphone for Pain "Been taking Opana for 15 months now and couldn't be happier. Diagnosed with DDD in my L-4, L-5, S-1, scoliosis, and fibromyalgia 3 years ago. My PM doctor put me on MS Contin 60 mg 2x a day, which I had an allergic reaction to... My feet and legs swelled up. He then put me on a fentanyl patch 75 mcg, which my body did not tolerate, I ended up getting pains down my neck and severe nausea. A guy ran a red light and T-boned my side of the car. In the hospital, they gave me dilaudid for pain, which completely took my pain away. My doctor decided at that point to put me on EXALGO 12.5 mg 1x a day. Worked better than anything! Insurance stopped covering it, GAHH. Put me on Opana ER 20 2x a day and IR 3x a day. Amazing! No side effects!!!"

Oxymorphone for Pain "I've had one back surgery so far, an L5 S1 fusion, which didn't work, and I'm in a lot of pain. I have tried many other pain medications, narcotic and non-narcotic, to try to manage my pain, along with acupuncture and physical therapy. Finally, my doctor gave me Opana (extended and immediate release), and I get such wonderful, much-needed pain relief from them. I still get some breakthrough pain, but these work so much better than anything else I have tried, including oxycontin, and I'm so thrilled."

Oxymorphone for Pain "I have been on pain medicines for over 10 years. I've tried it all. I was taking oxycodone 2 x 80 mg plus 2 x 40 mg plus 6 roxicodone 30 mg a day. My pain doctor switched me to 2 x 40 plus 2 x 20 Opana plus with the same roxicodone a day. This helped some. I had built up a tolerance to oxycodone. Last month she changed the roxicodone to 4 x 10 mg Opana for breakthrough pain. Now I have my life back. This is the first time in years I have been able to get up and get around. I have had a pain pump before and was going to get another one, but after this switch as of now I don't need it. If Opana is not working, you may need a higher dose if you are able to take it. Don't give up."

For Pain "I have spinal stenosis, DDD, bone spurs, ruptured discs, double laminectomy at L5-S1, L3-L4 in 2013. I've been on oxycodone for over 4 years. That worked great, but I started at 100 mg a day and even now only at 80 mg a day, so I think it is not out of the ordinary to have a built-up tolerance. Dr. switched from four 20 mg oxycodone to four 10 mg oxymorphone. He said it is equivalent to 25 mg oxycodone. It worked a little better on pain, but the side effects were awful! I was very sedated, moody, irritable, and grumpy. The worst was at night, I had a restless leg syndrome type of pain in my legs, and I could NOT stay asleep, even with sleep meds! I do NOT recommend this medication! I'm looking into this genetic test I keep hearing about!"
