Norethindrone for Birth Control "Very bad side effects; my Dr. recommended this pill because I wanted to avoid weight gain and have reliable birth control. I took it for 9 days. During that time, I gained almost 10 lbs; my normal weight is 120. My chest is hugely swollen and very painful. Stopped taking it and still waiting to get back to normal."

Norethindrone for Endometriosis "I just started taking this pill for heavy, very crampy monthly periods. I am on my second pack, and I've had my period for 12 days, but no cramping, which is great. It has made the bleeding a lot less but longer. Some days all I need is a panty liner, which I could never do before this pill. Other than that, I have had no headache, acne, or weight gain."

For Endometriosis "I started this at age 47 for severely painful periods (suspected endometriosis) that had been escalating for about two years. I love this medication so far, no period for 75 days, no pain, wonderful. I did notice some gastrointestinal symptoms/constipation, weight gain, and night sweats, all never really had before. The constipation was actually good for me as I think my hormones were actually causing diarrhea issues. The weight gain is due to appetite increase, but I am back on the bandwagon and exercising. Bottom line, I feel great, and my outlook is happy, so not experiencing the blues others have mentioned. Highly recommend for abdominal pain associated with menstrual problems."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I started using Jolivette after my daughter was born; while I was breastfeeding. I've tried a lot of different types of BC over the years. This option was just OK - I really like using Seasonique better and will probably switch over at some point in the future. I'm not sure about weight gain (as I did just have a baby recently), but I have had A LOT of spotting... and it feels like it's never going to end."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I was on the Patch for 2 years and had almost no side effects, besides slight weight gain. I had no acne, cramping, mood swings, etc. My periods were super light and only lasted 3-4 days and were extremely regular. I had to switch though, because it didn't stick on very well. I can't take estrogen due to a certain kind of migraines, so my doctor prescribed Sharobel. I was fine the first week or two, no real side effects except that my boobs got huge. But ever since then, I have been bleeding heavily like every other week. I'm moody and breaking out, and the cramps are awful. I've been on it since January, and it has only gotten worse. Hoping that people are right and that my hormones level out and adjust to not having estrogen in another month or two..."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I just started birth control again, and after a bad experience with the combo pill, my doctor recommended the mini or Micronor. While I have noticed a slight weight gain (5 lbs), my biggest concern is how tender my breasts are! Constantly tender to the touch, not just around the time I am going to start. I have no problem remembering to take the pill, my sex drive hasn't changed, and my periods are only two days long. I have experienced some acne, but besides the tender breasts and acne, I'm a happy camper. I'll most likely stay on this for a while!"

For Endometriosis "I was prescribed Norlutate in December 2019 for stage 4 colorectal endometriosis. For the first couple of weeks, I experienced depression, crying, emotional instability, painful periods, and difficulty sleeping. My partner was able to convince me to give the medication time to work. I am very happy to say that by giving it time, the depression has subsided, I don't cry without reason, I am still moody but can feel it coming before I react to a situation unreasonably. I started meditating and stretching before bed, which helps me be in a better state for sleeping. As for my diagnosis, it's working - I no longer have bleeding rectally during menstruation, and the constipation is gone. I am no longer in constant pain - but manageable pain. It kind of sucks having a bit of acne at age 31, and a small amount of weight gain, but it's a small price to pay in order to have the quality of life back you desire."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "When it comes to birth control, it's different strokes for different folks. I'm over 35 y/o. I switched from combo pills to Camila 6 months ago because of the terrible side effects. Ever since I took Camila, I haven't had bad effects. No more high blood pressure, no migraines, no crazy mood swings, no skin rashes, no cramps, and the period is 3-4 days instead of 6-7 when I was on TriCyclen. The only side effect from Camila is the weight gain. I'm definitely keeping taking Camila."

For Birth Control "I had the worst side effects on this mini pill. I was randomly bleeding throughout the month. It was so annoying. I was spotting a lot and passing big clots. My periods were unpredictable. Some months I wouldn’t have a period, and other months I had several periods. I also had ovarian cysts, insomnia, anxiety, massive weight gain, vision changes, increase in urinary frequency, high blood pressure, acid reflux, a lot of hair loss, horrible migraines, fatigue, and nausea. My moods were always fluctuating. I found myself feeling sad and stressed out for absolutely no reason. I wish I had never taken this pill. It wasn’t worth it. It was just awful."

Norethindrone for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is the worst pill. First time I started taking these pills when I got my period, I bled for 12 days straight. Then, months after that, I bled like normal, probably a bit heavier than normal. The nurse told me when taking this pill, your period will be light to no period some months. I have yet to see a light period. A few more months pass by, then I started to gain weight, and I mean a lot of weight. It started coming on really fast, I gained about 30 pounds in 8 months. There wasn't much pain, slight cramps, and I was very moody and had increased libido. I hardly got headaches, but I was really bloated every single month, like excessive gas every single month. It was terrible until, like, three days ago, I decided that enough was enough and stopped taking them."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I'm 26, and I switched from a combination pill to Nora-Be, and I hated it. I was on it for 7 months, and at first it was okay for the first 2 months, then I started having 2 or 3 periods in one month for 7 days at a time. I have had extreme mood swings, depression, and major weight gain. I don't use scales because they are discouraging, but if I had to guess, I would say I've gained 15 to 20 pounds, if not more. I eat healthy and exercise at least 2 to 3 times a week. I have decided to try out a diaphragm. I'm done with hormones. Ladies, these hormones are no good for us. Even though they are effective for birth control, it's not worth emotional and physical distress. My advice: try a non-hormonal method."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I've been on Errin for about 7 months, and I have never experienced more painful period cramps. That is my only complaint while being on this birth control. Before starting this pill, I was taking Lo Loestrin Fe, and I experienced terrible acne, felt depressed and emotional constantly, and gained some weight. Although the cramps have been bad with Errin, I would rather take this pill than what I did before."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I’ve been on Errin for five months now, about to start my sixth pack. The first few months were rough as my body got used to the hormones, as this was my first ever time taking birth control (21 years old). I bled for about a week every two weeks for the first four months, and now it seems that I’m back to a regular monthly period. I started getting acne almost immediately, with it peaking around the four-month mark. It’s slowly getting better with prescription medication. I’ve experienced minor weight gain, but that could just be a side effect of being in a relationship, lol! My partner and I don’t use condoms or the pull-out method and have sex pretty frequently (multiple times a week), and I haven’t gotten pregnant yet (knock on wood!), so overall I’d say this is really effective!"

Norethindrone for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have fibroids and was given Nora-Be to help with heavy periods. I’ve been on the pill maybe 15 years. It has made my periods at times non-existent to random, but that never bothered me. Throughout these years, I have had issues with weight gain and excessive hair shedding but never thought it was because of the pill (although living a vegetarian lifestyle with moderate exercise). I got off the pill to get pregnant and, of course, throughout my pregnancy. Interestingly, I immediately began losing a lot of weight and my hair never looked better. Now the great hair was due to the increase of blood flow due to being pregnant, but not the weight loss. At the end of my pregnancy, I weighed 30 lbs less than the start, even though the doctors had me on a high-calorie diet. I got back on Nora-Be after delivery and gained a lot of weight over the years. I never thought to look up other experiences until now. I think I will stop using Nora-Be and see how it goes."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "The only reason I was put on this birth control was due to my high blood pressure. I couldn't take other types of oral contraceptive pills, but that was the worst decision ever. Ever since I started taking this thing, I have been feeling horrible, such as fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, depression, mood swings, and, worst of all, weight gain. I was not on any other medication, nor did I take anything for my blood pressure, so of course I knew this birth control was the only thing giving me these crazy side effects. I'll just stick to my old birth controls that I have been put on in the past."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for years because of my migraines with aura. After two years, I had gained like thirty pounds (without ever changing my habits) and started experiencing constant spotting. Basically, I'm on my period like 70% of the month. The doctors highly suggested I switch to an IUD, but I'm just not down with it. So I stopped taking the birth control, and everything went back to normal pretty quickly. I was also able to drop fifteen pounds. I began taking the pill again after a six-month break about two months ago. Sure enough, the weight AND the constant spotting have returned. Norethindrone for Birth Control "The worst thing I have ever experienced. Getting pregnant again would have been better than this birth control. I wasted 4 months of my life on this pill. I gained weight, hair loss, cramps, headaches more than I didn’t have headaches. Finally stopped it and all my symptoms have been subsiding. Norethindrone for Birth Control "I started this medication a few months ago, and mentally, this pill is perfect for me! I’m not moody, no depressive episodes, no anxiety, nothing. Norethindrone "I take this to suppress my period. I have increased to a 10 mg dosage because recently I've had some spotting. I've found that I've had serious weight gain and changes in my labs because of it. It works, but these side effects are a little funky. I've only recently started losing weight, and that's when the spotting started. For the past 2 years, it's done what it's supposed to and stopped my period, but I'm still concerned that I might not be able to lose weight with this medication."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I just stopped taking the Camila birth control pill after 5 months. Initially, I did not have a period at all—this lasted approximately 3 months. Once I did get my period, I broke out in cystic acne all over my chin. There would be (on average) 5 large and deep pimples around my chin. No matter what I tried, these pimples would not go away. In addition, I gained 12 pounds in about 6 weeks. I run, bike, go to yoga, and eat the same foods consistently. I finally decided to stop taking the pill two weeks ago and switch to NuvaRing. My skin has already cleared up (I have one small zit now, and it’s almost gone), and my bloating is decreasing. Although this pill did prevent pregnancies, it was not worth the side effects."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I've been taking Lyza after being switched from my combination birth control at Planned Parenthood because of migraines. I had no problems with the old pill. Always had clear skin, and now I'm constantly broken out. 7 lb weight gain seems to be mostly in my belly. I feel extremely emotional. I took a few different combination pills over 20 years and never noticed any side effects. I'm hoping my body adjusts to the lack of estrogen and weight gain subsides, and acne clears up. Norethindrone "I took it for a full three months. My boobs have gotten larger, and I've gained maybe five pounds (now 144 pounds). I have started having low blood sugar episodes when I haven't eaten. I get shaky and anxious during those, like I MUST eat. I have gotten some acne, and my libido is zero. However, this pill did regulate my period, make it much lighter than it was, and it alleviated the bad headaches I get at the start and end of my period. I feel the side effects outweigh the good (especially the weight gain and blood sugar issue). I am 50... hopefully menopause will come soon enough."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "In January of 2018, I had my second Mirena removed. No complications or side effects, it was just time for it to be removed. Within 3 days of me having it removed, I began to bleed. Heavily and nonstop. The cramps and blood clots, along with headaches and fatigue, were wearing me down fast. That IUD was removed in January, and I bled irregularly and soooooo heavy until April. All my life, my cycles were like clockwork, never lasting more than 4 days. Having to wear tampons and heavy overnight pads only to bleed through both within an hour. My GYN had bloodwork and an ultrasound done. The ultrasound revealed I have 6 uterine fibroids, one being 2 cm by itself. I have been on norethindrone for 2 1/2 months now, and it has been a blessing!! It took almost 1 month for my body to adjust, but since that time... no bleeding, no cramping, no headaches, no trouble sleeping, no weight gain... but my doctor has told me I CANNOT be on this long term. The next step is an endometrial uterine biopsy."
