Norethindrone for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is the worst pill. First time I started taking these pills when I got my period, I bled for 12 days straight. Then, months after that, I bled like normal, probably a bit heavier than normal. The nurse told me when taking this pill, your period will be light to no period some months. I have yet to see a light period. A few more months pass by, then I started to gain weight, and I mean a lot of weight. It started coming on really fast, I gained about 30 pounds in 8 months. There wasn't much pain, slight cramps, and I was very moody and had increased libido. I hardly got headaches, but I was really bloated every single month, like excessive gas every single month. It was terrible until, like, three days ago, I decided that enough was enough and stopped taking them."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I switched from the combo pill to a POP (progesterone-only pill) because of my migraines, and the only side effect I've had so far was a little bit of cramping the first day I was on it. Surprisingly, it hasn't made my acne worse, and I haven't noticed any crazy weight gain. I love that I skip my periods, and I haven't had any weird spotting yet like a lot of other people have reported. Very happy with Errin!"

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I've been on Camila for 6 months, was put on after the birth of my daughter. Cons: Headaches, 20-pound weight gain, horrible mood swings, and longer periods (4 days start to finish vs. 7.5 now). Hair loss. Constant cramps. I've developed extreme nausea that is similar to morning sickness, and painful sex. (These are CONSTANT. THERE IS NO BREAK FROM THESE SIDE EFFECTS.) And that's after being begged for it, as I have 0 sex drive. Let me highlight how extreme a change that is: I used to crave/want to have sex 4 times DAILY. Now? Zero. Pros: less painful periods. No pregnancy. I have stopped taking this rubbish pill. Whoever invented it: get a new profession. I've been off it 2 weeks and feel so SO much better mentally and physically. Like coming out of a fog. Don't try this garbage."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I have been on regular pills for about 25 years without issue. I just finished my first pack of this and am not sure I want to start my second. I have been so irrationally angry, stressed, and depressed this last month. Angry over little things to the point of not sleeping several nights. I honestly was very concerned about what was happening to me. Also had very sore nipples and am super hungry all the time. So happy to find that others experienced this and I'm not losing my mind! I did not get my period, which is usual for me, but I do have cramps."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I got switched to this because I get auras with my migraines. It gave me menstrual migraines and periods every other week. My periods were heavier, longer, and a lot more painful. I don't really have PMS, but on this drug, I get mood swings, painful constipation, acne, and a sore genital tract. The menstrual migraines went away after three months, the first month, the period pain went away. Over the course of 18 months, my vaginal discharge disappeared. It made sex so painful that it's impossible. It also caused stress incontinence. I've been off it for six months, and the lack of discharge is still a problem because I'm apparently not allowed to have any type of estrogen."

For Endometriosis "I was given norethindrone to help with my endometriosis, and I’m anemic. I have very painful cramping, very heavy periods, bad headaches, and some other symptoms that have been getting worse over the years. This is my last option before getting a hysterectomy. Started taking this medicine at the beginning of September at 5 mg once a day. I had light bleeding for the first 3 weeks. My OB raised my dosage to 10 mg to help stop the bleeding. Upping the dosage made my bleeding worse, along with very bad cramping. I called my OB and was told to stop taking it, and that was Monday. I have been heavy bleeding ever since. I’m hoping it will only last for a week while the medicine is leaving my body."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "So, I can't say how well this actually works because I was trying it out to balance my hormones and make some gut problems less painful. However, I've been on it for 4 days and just have been feeling cramping and bloating. That has made my gut issue worse. If you don't have gut issues already, this may work for you!"

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for 4 days and already want to throw it away. The biggest side effect is the cramps. I've literally had waves of pain through my stomach that feel like contractions since I started this! I feel like I've been in labor every day since I started taking these! Also very nauseous and bleeding heavy! Please, please, please pay attention to the reviews! This stuff is terrible and not worth the pain!"

Norethindrone for Birth Control "Been on Heather, one of the progestin-only birth control pills. Before taking this medication, I barely had a period, maybe 2 days long. And I was like a clock, every 30 days. Now I get random periods every 2-3 weeks that last 8 days and are super heavy. It has really interfered with romance. And I get cramps now too, which I barely had before. Would not recommend."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have had irregular cycles since January 2021. My doc stated I was in peri menopause. I skipped my cycle several months. But in July, I was told I had adenomyosis and endometriosis. The floodgates opened, and she put me on this medication. I am stopping it today due to the side effects. The first two weeks were good, just spotting, but then it went to heavy flow and clots out of this world. I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy but cannot continue this pill causing no sex drive, crying all the time, tired, chest pain, severe cramping, dark thoughts, insomnia, etc. I'd rather deal with the bleeding produced the natural way. I'm glad I was able to read these reviews. It helped realize I was not crazy and alone. I read it takes two days to get out of your system."

Norethindrone for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on this medication for about 3 months now, and I haven't had a period at all. I had abnormal bleeding for an entire month, and then it stopped completely. As a person who relies on their period heavily as a reminder that they aren't pregnant, I don't like this medication. The cramps while the bleeding occurred were horrible. I will be changing my birth control medication back to high hormones, despite my migraines."

For Birth Control "Horrible, horrible drug. Just got done at the ER. Been having extreme abdominal cramping, sharp pains, stomach pains, chest burning, arm numbness, and back pain, along with chest and facial acne. I’m not normally the type to write drug reviews, but I wanted to make sure anyone who is even considering this drug does not take it. It does its job at preventing pregnancy, but DEFINITELY NOT worth the side effects… I’m switching back to my old pill 100%."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Started taking this despite the horrible reviews, thinking my experience would be different, but I’m not that lucky. I have fibroids and had to have my IUD removed. I took this, and the first day I was cramping SO BAD I felt like I was going into labor. Additionally, I started bleeding. The next day, those same symptoms intensified, and I was soaking super-sized tampons in an hour and a half and passing clots. I told my doctor I can’t take it anymore. This is ridiculous, I’d rather be pregnant than to be on this pill!"

Norethindrone for Birth Control "The worst thing I have ever experienced. Getting pregnant again would have been better than this birth control. I wasted 4 months of my life on this pill. I gained weight, hair loss, cramps, headaches more than I didn’t have headaches. Finally stopped it and all my symptoms have been subsiding. I’m sure it works differently for different people, but it was the worst thing I’ve ever done."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I've been on Micronor for over a year now, and I am seriously thinking of stopping them. When I started taking them, I had the common side effects until my body adjusted. About three months ago, the side effects started up again and have become worse. For preventing a pregnancy, they work well, but for mood swings and cramps, it's actually making them worse for me."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I've been on these pills for 4 months now, and I decided last night that I'm never taking another one. I have had a period twice a month since I began. The first two months, I ignored it, thinking my body just needed time to get used to it. I have cramping, I bleed heavy for the first 3-4 days, then have mild/regular bleeding for 4 full days after. It doesn't start getting light until about the 8th day. To have a period twice a month that lasts over a week is appalling, and the manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves. The only reason I started these pills is because I had just stopped nursing my toddler and wanted a low-dose birth control option. I'm giving them one star because the one good thing about this pill is that I haven't gotten pregnant, even after having unprotected sex on a regular basis with my boyfriend. I am going to meet with my doctor ASAP and change my script. My advice to anyone thinking about starting this pill: DON'T. Don't waste your time, money, or health."

For Birth Control "Took it for only seven days in November, and I have been on my period ever since with a 5-day gap each month. I’ve NEVER had menstrual issues before. I’m 27, went to GP and was referred to get a scan done. One month later, still waiting on the referral letter (apparently there’s a backlog). I can’t comprehend the mental strain that this is causing me. I enjoy sex, one of the few things I’m good at, but I can’t perform because I’m just bleeding. My BF and I have tried with condoms, but it's my mental state that makes me feel dirty. I try to keep my cool on the outside for my BF. (I pray I can have kids). There is a difference in the amount of bleeding and cramping on my actual period, which has always been seven days. After that, I get this brown blood for three days, then a 5-day gap and BAM! Brown blood for the rest of the month, sometimes with clots. Ever looked at other girls with envy that they aren’t bleeding all month? (Norethisterone - Utovian 5 mg - Pfizer)"

Norethindrone for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Been taking it for almost 3 months due to abnormal bleeding with no underlying causes. I've had a transplant, so the mini pill is my only option. I wouldn’t say Errin is awful for me yet since I’ve only been on it for such a short time. I can say though, I used to have severe cramps, but on Errin, they are very, very mild (so mild Tylenol does the trick). My periods do last longer (7 days), and the little brown spotting that occurs is a bit annoying. Hope my body responds well so I can stay on it."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I started taking Lyza because my doctor said it would be better to get on a birth control pill with only one hormone due to a history of high blood pressure on my dad's side of the family. I repeatedly said I did not want to switch as my body was perfectly adjusted to the Aubra... but my doctor insisted I try it. I am 1 month in, and I stopped taking it last night. I refuse to take one more pill. I hoped this would work for me, but all I had were negative side effects that I have NEVER had (and I have been on birth control pills for 10 years!) I spotted the whole month... Continuous spotting. I was extremely bloated and gained 5 lbs since I started taking it. I had horrible cramps, broke out, was moody, and it killed my sex drive."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "Was put on this due to terrible migraines. Took it for 8 months and stopped recently. Yes, my migraine wasn't as bad as it was before, but my period was very irregular. At some point, I didn't get it for 2 months, then 3 months, and it would scare the heck out of me. I would get bad cramps, and my breasts would be so tender and painful for weeks! Also, I noticed that my eating habit had gotten worse. I became tired but sleepless and often got anxiety attacks. I just couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to stop it before it got worse."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My doctor switched me to this drug due to 'age and weight' concerns. The first period on a new pill pack was 13 days of profuse bleeding every single day of it. Then I started having 10-day periods with 2 weeks in between. All periods were so heavy, I'd soak a jumbo/overnight pad in 2 hours. I would have huge tissue clumps with it, plus bad cramps and backaches. The worst of it were nights. I had to wear two pairs of underwear with 2 jumbo pads, or I would bleed on my bed. I contacted my doc when my first period marked day 10, asking for advice. I was told it was normal when switching pills, and I have to deal with it. After 2 following packs, it became clear that this is not normal for me. In addition to all the trouble, I have to use the brand that provides the most absorbent pads in the biggest size, which causes me a great deal of skin irritation. And I cannot use tampons. So, I contacted my GYN again and asked for my old pills back."

For Birth Control "I started Mylan Norethindrone 0.35 in late Oct 2022 after a 13-year hiatus from birth control. The first week was great, I had no side effects at all. Then week 2 started and I bled EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. between Nov 2022 through Mar 2023 when I finally stopped taking it - 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT. They say it's just your body adjusting and can take 3-6 months. But to actually bleed every day for five months? And it's not like it was just light spotting. It was a period twice a month and then light bleeding every single day in between. The bloating was also constant, as was the acne that I had never had before in my entire life, I even broke out on my chest, back, and shoulders. Also, I weighed 130 lbs when I started the pill as I do personal training 3-4 times a week and eat clean. When I stopped taking the pill, my weight was up to 145 lbs. Final note: when I got my first period after stopping this pill, I had the worst cramps I've ever experienced, I was in so much pain I couldn't even stand up straight."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "In January of 2018, I had my second Mirena removed. No complications or side effects, it was just time for it to be removed. Within 3 days of me having it removed, I began to bleed. Heavily and nonstop. The cramps and blood clots, along with headaches and fatigue, were wearing me down fast. That IUD was removed in January, and I bled irregularly and soooooo heavy until April. All my life, my cycles were like clockwork, never lasting more than 4 days. Having to wear tampons and heavy overnight pads only to bleed through both within an hour. My GYN had bloodwork and an ultrasound done. The ultrasound revealed I have 6 uterine fibroids, one being 2 cm by itself. I have been on norethindrone for 2 1/2 months now, and it has been a blessing!! It took almost 1 month for my body to adjust, but since that time... no bleeding, no cramping, no headaches, no trouble sleeping, no weight gain... but my doctor has told me I CANNOT be on this long term. The next step is an endometrial uterine biopsy."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "I recently was required to switch to a progestin-only pill (the 'mini pill') from a combo pill. I've been on Jolivette for 3 months now (about to finish my third month), and it's been a rough couple of months. The first 2, I was concerned about how heavy my periods were and had quite possibly the worst cramps of my life. I have a history of anemia related to heavy menstruation (which isn't normal), and I was beginning to exhibit similar signs. Same situation the second month. Plus, so much spotting between periods. Now, month 3, and things seem much calmer. THANK GOODNESS. Make sure you take the pill at the same exact time every single day to prevent pregnancy."

Norethindrone for Birth Control "Prescribed Camila as a birth control due to high blood pressure, couldn't take some of the others. My first 3 months were okay. I did have changes in my skin (went from clear skin to having weird acne all the time). My periods were lighter but longer, and the cramps were more painful than what I experienced pre-pill. Month 4, I started having breast tenderness constantly. Period was lighter and only lasted 4 days. I thought my body had finally adjusted to the pill. That excitement didn’t last as I had heavy bleeding which started up a week later, lasting 7 days. Similar situation month 5: *Possible TMI ahead* The first period was 5 days, barely any cramps, light bleeding but all tissue. There was almost no unclotted blood. Now, 6 days later, I wake up yesterday to blood everywhere. Totally unexpected. At the moment, I’m having terrible cramping and heavy flow with a lot of tissue present. I hate this! The irregularity and pain are not worth it."
