For Asthma "I have asthma and especially exercise-induced asthma, making it hard to run or do other high-intensity sports. This works like a charm to shut off my asthma and exercise-induced asthma, and also resolves allergies. However, it does seem to give me crazy dreams, makes me sleep in more than I normally would, and seems to increase my preexisting anxiety (but since I know this anxiety might be due to the medication, I am fairly capable of reminding myself that it's not real and moving on). I only take it when I really need it because of these side effects. As an adult, I feel I can manage the side effects, but I'm not sure if it would work for kids. This drug has been absolutely life-changing and essential for me in controlling my asthma!"

For Asthma "I started taking Singulair 10 mg in 2020 for cough asthma, and I am still taking it. It relieves my breathing problems and cough 95%, and I could have a normal life. I’ve had side effects, which include muscle aches in my legs, arms, and lower back. If I move around and stretch, it goes away some. I also got very sick: headache, fever, and chills, muscle aches. These symptoms were not COVID or the flu. These symptoms are some of the low percentage side effects I experienced. I lowered my dose to 5 mg and have been on that dose for 10 days. This lower dose doesn’t have the same muscle ache pain, but I’m coughing much more throughout the day and need to take my rescue inhaler. I also have had coughing attacks on this lower dose. I’m considering going back to 10 mg and will try to stretch and drink more fluids every day to combat the side effects. I also have tried Zyrtec and Claritin along with flushing my nostrils, and I still cough. Also, I’ve been having bad dreams."

For Asthma "Prescribed this to help with asthma flaring up at night, but now I use it to control my exercise-induced asthma. Take this 2 hours before exercise, it's like magic. Now I walk, jog, even run 2+ miles a day, and for someone who couldn't even walk for an extended time without their asthma flaring, that's a big deal. When I took this near bedtime, and only near bedtime, I experienced weird/vivid dreams. I actually enjoyed it, but the experience may be much more scary for others, beware taking near bedtime if you're concerned. Also, I've been feeling depressed and irritated often. I've had dark thoughts, I'm not sure it's from montelukast or from outside factors. I've had these feelings before taking it, it's just more often now."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I've taken both Singulair and Montelukast. The first time I took Singulair, several years ago, I had nightmares filled with horror. I quit taking it. I now take Montelukast and still have unusual and eerie dreams, but they are not full of the horror of those from several years ago. I also find it difficult to sleep more than a few hours at a time, partially because of the dreams, which wake me. However, it controls the night coughing better than any other drug I've used, from prednisone to Advair. I will continue to take it unless the side effects worsen."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Thank you, guys, for sharing honest reviews! PCP placed me on Montelukast 10 mg a day. Allergies began to lighten up for a while. But OMGOSH, really! Guys, it has got me in such a desperate fight for my well-being! Didn't know why I was feeling so fatigued, depressed, no interest in nothing, and a battle just to get out of bed most days! Had super dark thoughts and awful vivid dreams that I could feel the next days of worthless! Asked the Prayer Group to pray for me! First night I didn't dream that awful dream, but fatigue and depressing thoughts remained! This med is awful for me! No more will I subject myself to this dangerous medicine! From the bottom of my heart, don't expose your well-being to medicine that can affect you in such harmful ways!"

For Allergic Rhinitis "It worked very well, and I suffered no hay fever symptoms at all and felt I could breathe clearly for the first time in weeks. However, I fear it might have worsened my mental health. I started having vivid dreams, which was fine, but then I became extremely paranoid, and things went back to normal for a while. I cannot sleep properly anymore, and I constantly feel like a part of me is missing. My life improved, and nothing else but my use of this drug changed, so some part of me feels it’s connected. I also experienced a much faster heart rate, which was really scary. IDK, maybe I just had a bad experience, but I will certainly not be taking them again and will just live with my severe allergies and asthma."

For Asthma "I took Singulair in grade 2 and had very lucid bad dreams and anger issues. But I did help a bit for my asthma. Now I am in grade 10, and this has stopped my allergy and exercise-induced asthma attacks. My main side effect now: lucid dreams. I like them, but I know a lot of people don't."

For Asthma "I have a sleep disorder, including weird dreams and sleep paralysis. I can't gain weight (loss of appetite). If I'm not on montelukast, I get restless and violent, I get easily irritated, and my cognition seems to fluctuate, and I'm prone to the common cold."

For Asthma "I have been taking montelukast for a few years, and I have noticed how drowsy it makes me feel. Also, I have a constant headache and vivid dreams. I have gained weight, which I have tried to lose by exercising and changing my diet. I will seek medical advice from my GP about these side effects because it has seriously affected my quality of life and well-being."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Although my nose didn't respond to it and was still swollen, my whole body didn't respond to smoke and scents anymore, and my allergic skin reactions got better immediately. I was able to sleep and feel really good and warm again since months or years. As for side effects: I wasn't able to sleep immediately, it took an hour each time after taking it, and I got very cool vivid dreams and even slight CEV and a very positive feeling. So it helps against my overall allergic reactions in my nose, lungs, and skin and even gives me some fun. Great drug."

Montelukast for Allergic Rhinitis "I have taken this for 10 to 15 years and for me it's fantastic. No more asthma, runny stuffy nose, chest congestion. No weird dreams and zero depression, etc. like I've read in other reviews. Not for everyone, obviously. I always take it in the AM. I remember telling my doctor I never want to stop taking this. Changed insurance and didn't take it for a while, and it was like night and day. Immediately was back to the inhalers and hacking up goo every morning and coughing all the time. Went back on it, and in one week I was fine. For me, it's miraculous since it addresses all my symptoms, not just my asthma."
