For Asthma "I started taking Singulair 10 mg in 2020 for cough asthma, and I am still taking it. It relieves my breathing problems and cough 95%, and I could have a normal life. I’ve had side effects, which include muscle aches in my legs, arms, and lower back. If I move around and stretch, it goes away some. I also got very sick: headache, fever, and chills, muscle aches. These symptoms were not COVID or the flu. These symptoms are some of the low percentage side effects I experienced. I lowered my dose to 5 mg and have been on that dose for 10 days. This lower dose doesn’t have the same muscle ache pain, but I’m coughing much more throughout the day and need to take my rescue inhaler. I also have had coughing attacks on this lower dose. I’m considering going back to 10 mg and will try to stretch and drink more fluids every day to combat the side effects. I also have tried Zyrtec and Claritin along with flushing my nostrils, and I still cough. Also, I’ve been having bad dreams."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I cannot use montelukast again. I used it for one month, and it gave me bad side effects: painful stomach, shortness of breath, blocked nasal, headache, anxiety, panic, sleeping issues. I stopped two months ago, and some side effects are still here with me. What an awful drug."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Used to take Singulair, and this is the first year taking the generic form. Got a very bad headache lasting more than 16 hours, stomach ache, nausea, sweating, and stuffy nose. Instead of improving allergy symptoms, it brought them in addition to other bad sufferings. I did not have such a bad experience from Singulair. After 3 pills, I tried to return. The store would not accept them back."

Montelukast for Allergic Rhinitis "I started taking this to help with long COVID-induced asthma/rhinitis (suffered from asthma as a child, but COVID exacerbated it) in addition to steroid inhalers. In terms of the asthma/rhinitis, it worked brilliantly. However, after about 10 days (10 mg per day taken in the evening), I developed severe dizziness/vertigo and headaches. Had to stop taking it, as I simply couldn't function."

For Asthma "I have been taking montelukast for a few years, and I have noticed how drowsy it makes me feel. Also, I have a constant headache and vivid dreams. I have gained weight, which I have tried to lose by exercising and changing my diet. I will seek medical advice from my GP about these side effects because it has seriously affected my quality of life and well-being."

Montelukast for Asthma "Singulair helps long term to control asthma. It does affect moods. I take it at bedtime, sometimes, it makes me have insomnia. I’m not sure about headaches, as I take inhalers that could cause that."

For Asthma "Singulair helped while exercising, I wasn't short of breath while exercising. But a month into taking this medication, it hasn't really helped at all, and I am having side effect symptoms of severe headaches, mouth pain, stomach pain, diarrhea, depression, dread, skin rashes, and tremors. I just couldn't believe that Singulair was causing all my problems. For me, the side effects are not worth it."
