Montelukast for Allergic Rhinitis "Singulair causes symptoms in children that look like ADHD or ADD. It causes irritability, aggression, impulsivity, and hyperactivity in children. Before you treat your child for ADHD, try switching to an allergy or asthma medicine that isn't this or a corticosteroid."

For Asthma "I was prescribed this drug for allergies and wheezing. The first couple of weeks, I noticed the wheezing stopped, but I became very agitated and aggressive. Then I started waking up with panic attacks. When I stopped taking it, my face swelled up. This medicine also made me very nauseous and gave me horrible stomach cramps. I had to stop it after a month."

For Asthma "When my daughter was 4, she started this medication for her asthma. Shortly after, I noticed she would have more agitation, aggression, she developed small tics like ripping her hair out, cleaning between her toes, saying weird words just to say them. I honestly thought, she’s 4, maybe this is normal stuff. Well, she is 9 now, and she is suffering anxiety, OCD, obsessive unwanted thoughts, confession OCD—> she tells me things like, “I hope I didn’t scratch the wall, stupid middle finger, I thought something bad.” It was honestly a little odd, and it increased significantly this last week or so. It is now onto having suicidal thoughts and meltdowns, trouble going to sleep. She is not herself, and I’m terrified for her. I will be taking her in to see if we can get off this medicine. PLEASE, if you are considering giving this to your child, see if there are other options. My daughter is suffering because I didn’t take the steps I should’ve a long time ago."

For Allergic Rhinitis "My 13-year-old son began taking it a month ago, and it cleared up his sinus issues pretty quickly. But there has become a downside. Almost overnight, he has become a different person. Moody, agitated, angry, even sad at times, and withdrawn on a daily basis, he was NEVER like this prior. The pill bottle came with warnings with symptoms similar to watch for, so when I realized this was not going away and was getting worse, I took my son off. Unfortunately, about a week off now, it’s almost like he is in withdrawal and even worse than before. I am hoping it gets better with time as he adjusts, it’s very scary. I would recommend no one take this without another person knowing so they can watch for behavior changes!"

Montelukast for Allergic Rhinitis "If I could give no stars, I would. It caused me to have suicidal thoughts, and I put a fork to my throat this morning over something stupid, and my mom talked me out of it. I’m not the suicidal type, and Singulair made me want to take my life. I also have had aggression, worse depression, rage, and not giving a rat's booty on what I say to anyone. I talked to my mom like she was a nobody, and I’m not that kind of person. I even cussed my own husband out a couple of times. I would NEVER talk to anyone like that! I was literally scared of myself. I even broke something of my great-great-grandmother's, and it was one of the last objects my mom had of hers. I’m not the violent type at all. I’m hoping within a few days I can start feeling better."

For Asthma "My 4-year-old was prescribed this for asthma, and I took him off it after hearing reviews about side effects. My son had a bad temper and was very aggressive but had been on Singulair since he was 2, so I didn't know if this was a stage he was going through or part of his personality. I took him off the tablets when I heard some bad reviews about suicidal thoughts and noticed very quickly how much happier and calmer my son became - he has not had angry outbursts or wanted to hit anymore. I'm so disappointed that my doctors didn't warn me about how bad the side effects could be - I'm so pleased I've taken him off this, and I also don't feel it helped his asthma much anyway."

For Asthma "My little son took that poison for less than 2 weeks two years ago. He is still suffering with bad side effects like tics, anxiety, anger, sensitivity to light, symptoms of autism sometimes, feeling tired, changes of mood, and behavior problems. :( It is devastating. I am sorry for all the kids who took it or are taking that drug, and I am also sorry for their families."

For Bronchospasm Prophylaxis "Ok, I have been to so many doctors over the 32 years of this chronic cough that I have every single day. I’m at the end of my rope with this cough. The doctor asked me if I had a post-nasal drip. I said, “Yes.” He prescribed Singulair. I have been taking it once a night for 9 days. I’m not sure if I would really notice any of the effects spoken of here, cause I do anyway suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, and pretty bad temper. I will say that it took like five days, and I’m starting to feel a difference in my coughing. It’s not as aggressive and does seem to be getting better. I don’t think I will get over it completely, cause I’m sure it’s become chronic, but I can live with this mild cough."

For Allergic Rhinitis "My doctor gave me montelukast for allergies. It makes me sleepy, so I take it at night, and I can breathe better. But the side effects are leg cramps, every muscle hurts, feels like I just want to collapse and cry, can't seem to wake up and get out of bed, depression, anxiety, anger, irritation easily, bloated and gassy. I told my doctor that I stopped taking it, and it affects my mood, and she said that must be what's wrong with my son, he's on it too. I stopped taking it and am just going to do Claritin or Flonase."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Doctor has advised me the drug 10 mg as my airways had severe swelling even I can't talk 3 words together due to the shortness of breath, but this med did magic, resolved my issues, and made my life comfortable. However, it has some side effects like aggression and anxiety, but I did deal with that. I strongly recommend this med for allergies in the respiratory system."

For Allergic Rhinitis "My allergies have caused me to be miserable for my entire life, ruining vacations and causing me to miss school. I have allergy and exercise-induced asthma, disallowing me from doing things I love, like hiking. My allergy symptoms have completely disappeared, and I am able to run and play without stopping every minute or so to catch my breath. One thing that has happened is that I am much more irritable, provokable, and angry. It has been hard to sleep as help. These are things to be aware of, but I personally will be looking for ways to solve these new issues because Singulair has given me a new life."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Horrible side effects. I put my 5 yr old on this and she started having anger issues and anxiety. After several months, she started having tics that became severe to the point I thought she was developing Tourette’s syndrome. After research, I found this happening to thousands of other children. I immediately took her off this medication and just pray that the tics go away. I’ve heard with some kids they never did. Just awful, I was never warned about the tics, just the anger."

Montelukast "When my doctor prescribed Singulair for my headaches and heaviness in the right side of my head, at first it took my headaches away with one pill a day. I loved it. Then one day I woke up and I felt like I had dementia. I couldn't even go get something to drink because I kept forgetting what I got up for over and over. Then the anger and rage came next, and I got madder than I have ever been in my life over nothing, and I became scared to be alone 'cause I could not control myself from getting so angry. I was so messed up that when I would take a shower, I could not remember what I was doing, so I kept bathing over and over when I meant to wash and condition my hair. After I stopped taking the Singulair, 30 days later, I could not remember how I used to be before I had the anger issues. Today I still deal with anger issues even though I have not taken Singulair in almost 2 years. I'm afraid it will never go away. However, I am grateful that my memory issues have improved."

For Asthma "My five-year-old son was given this drug, and within a day, started experiencing a terrible personality change. I didn’t make the correlation till about a week in when his rage and anger were out of control. I contacted his paed, who said we must stop taking it immediately. It is horrible to witness such a change in my child due to this drug. Please be careful."
