For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have taken metronidazole in the past, but this time was given it at a 2g dose (5 * 400mg tablets). This was seven days ago, and I am still recovering from what I believe to be the side effects. I felt extremely dizzy, nauseous, lightheaded, and heavy-headed. I have been emotional for no reason, with tears every day, not being able to sleep, my mind racing at 100 mph, and just feeling restless and irritable in general. I literally felt out of my mind! I thought I was suffering from permanent mental illness, my GP told me these weren’t side effects from metronidazole, but reading other reviews, I know my GP is very, very wrong! I also experienced weakness and tingling in my arms and hands. I really hope I feel better this coming week, as I’ve had a week of not feeling normal. Nothing helps, I’ve tried extra sleep (when I was finally able to), water, exercise, prayer, everything! I experienced moments of depression and anxiety."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was given the one-time dose of 2000 mg to take at once. I had the pills a full 5 days before I said screw this fishy smell and milky discharge and just crushed them and downed them with milk. Truth, the taste is HORRIBLE!! Death in a pill! However, I had NONE of the deathly experiences so many of you have described. A little nausea and dizziness. The slightest though... Like the kind you get from being too hot for too long. Nothing major. But it's been 12 hours now and the discharge AND fishy smell are GONE!! I'm mad I hadn't taken them already now, because I could be back to my regular, clear discharge. But I recommend it!!!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "So the infection cleared up in a matter of two days, but I've been dizzy, lightheaded, short of breath, coughing (I smoke every now and then, and I've been feeling it), weird appetite. If I don't drink enough water before I sleep, I wake up feeling almost hungover. Essentially, I feel weak and tired, and the pill tastes awful. Thankfully, today's the last day."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "Please do not take this drug. Ask for something else unless you are dying. I took Flagyl 3 months ago, and I'm still dealing with side effects. I've been to the ER multiple times, spent thousands of dollars on tests, have been in physical therapy for 6 weeks for how it affected my vestibular system. My entire body burns and tingles, my ears are ringing, I still have vertigo on a daily basis, and my vision has been completely wrecked. Please, please don't take this drug."

Metronidazole for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease "For the first couple of days, every time I took this, I was overcome with a severe migraine. After a few days, the migraines stopped, but what came next was far worse: insomnia, fever, fainting, no appetite, severe exhaustion, dizziness, and brain fog/decreased motor skills. Due to the medicine’s side effects, I was convinced my uterine infection was killing me, going septic. I couldn’t tell if I was sick from the infection or from the antibiotics - neither could the doctor. Hours after my final dose, I collapsed, BP dropped, fever and shakes set in. I spent the next 3 days in bed, unable to eat, with constant diarrhea, heart palpitations, vertigo, too nauseated to speak, unable to do anything but sleep. It has now been 4 days since I’ve been off the medication. I am still dizzy and quite weak, but I feel a little more normal. I hope the uterine infection has been properly managed. Time will tell if the side effects were worth it."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed metronidazole 500 mg 3 times a day for 7 days. I'm on day 5, and this is the worst drug I've ever taken. My first day, I felt okay, then after I started experiencing extreme dizziness, bad headache, and nausea. My eyes started to hurt, and by my 3rd day, I had the worst stomach pain/burning for almost 2 days now. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I've considered going back to the ER because the pain is so bad."

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "I've had C. diff for quite a while, but just got diagnosed a few weeks ago. I've taken this medication 3 times a day for two weeks (right now I still have a few days left), and I am experiencing the worst side effects any med has ever given me. The medicine tastes awful and starts immediately dissolving when it goes into your mouth, making it hard to swallow and causing an extremely bitter taste that is hard to get rid of. I am consistently nauseous every time I take it and threw up a few times from that. I still feel like I have the C. diff symptoms along with the side effects of the medicine. I also shake so much it's difficult to write and have bad feelings of vertigo, as if I am falling over. Such awful side effects."

Metronidazole for Diverticulitis "I took Flagyl for diverticulitis for about 7 of the 10 days. The brain fog, dizziness, and feeling like my heart was affected made me look it up. I just stopped taking it, and within 24 hours, felt fine."

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "Horrible experience! I was taking this medication, 500 mg three times a day. I was on Cefdinir for 3 days for a UTI, and I didn't take a probiotic while on the medication, so I contracted C. diff. I also work in the hospital, so while being on the medication, I was more prone to catching something. The C. diff was terrible, but the medication side effects were even worse. It cleared up the infection pretty fast, but like I said, the side effects were the worst. This is day 10/10, I still have the metallic taste even though I brush my teeth 4 times a day. I had dark brown colored urine, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, and nausea. I would not recommend this medication to anyone, even though I myself work in the healthcare field."

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "I was on this medication twice a day for ten days for a C. diff infection. I just finished my last round today and wanted to give a review. I have experienced nearly every side effect possible: terrible nausea, dizziness, tingling sensations in my legs, and insomnia. They were the worst the first few days on the medicine, however, all of my C. diff symptoms have gone away, and I feel much better. I'm giving it a 9 since it was effective, but the side effects were bad. It is a tough medicine to take, but I do recommend it as the side effects will go away and it will relieve the symptoms of C. diff."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed a 14-day course of this medication for SIBO. The first five days I had nausea, diarrhea, foggy brain, metal mouth, dark urine, and an upset stomach. Then my foggy brain got worse, and I was dizzy, irritable, and depressed. This is not normal for me. I felt uncomfortable driving any serious distance, and some days wouldn’t drive at all. I feel just overwhelmingly not good. Headache, loss of appetite, and all the previous symptoms, and now the last three days my heart has been racing! Today is my last day, and I can’t tell if it’s helped the SIBO because the side effects mimic so many of the symptoms. Hoping for the best-would have a clear conversation with your doctor before you start these!"

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "I am a 20-year-old female who has been healthy my entire life, went on a trip to Hong Kong over the summer, and when I came home is when I experienced odd bowel movement. It wasn’t until 3 months later I found blood in my stool and vomit and immediately went to the ER and tested positive for C. diff (the doctors were so confused as to how I could contract it). I'm not sure if my trip was the cause, but it seems likely. I was prescribed Flagyl, and within 2 days my bowel movement was a bit better, but the side effects are horrible. I have constant nausea, brain fog, dizziness, headaches, panic attacks, and the stomach pain is unbearable. I am currently on day 5/10, 3 pills a day, 500 mg each. I am seeking the ER once more in hopes to find out what is really wrong because there is no way this medication is working! I have never been more sick and dependent on other people to help me even get out of bed in my entire life. All these reviews make me feel less crazy!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This medicine is great at killing infections. I had bacterial vaginitis pretty bad, and by day two, the symptoms were gone. I'm on day 5 of a 7-day treatment of 500 mg twice a day, and I haven't had many symptoms till tonight. Before, I was feeling some dizziness, some fatigue, and a lack of concentration. I was also suffering from very uncomfortable constipation. Tonight, after taking it, I've felt nauseous, and my stools are starting to get softer. I'm really afraid to take it tomorrow for fear of how bad it will make me feel."

For Diverticulitis "I'm 29, just diagnosed with diverticulitis about 2 weeks ago. Spent 2 days in the hospital on an IV drip of Flagyl and bowel rest, then sent home with this combo. Today is my last day, and my pain has subsided, but the side effects are wild. Didn't sleep much, got dizzy, dark urine, and generally just felt off. The pills did taste horrible at first, but like someone else said, if you throw it down quick, you don't notice it too much. Best of luck to all."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Unfortunately, still dealing with the horrible side effects 5 months after stopping a 5-day course of this (1000 mg/day). I have severe nerve damage, can't walk or sit up since my body feels so heavy, loss of appetite, pain in hands and feet. A few days after discontinuation is when the severe dizziness started and still remains. The first month, I had severe muscle spasms all over my body, which led to muscle wasting and loss of 15 lbs. My spine and neck sway back and forth when I stand up. I strongly regret taking this medication since my life has been ruined by it."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "I was supposed to take this twice a day for 7 days. I took it for BV. The first 5 days were fine! It seems to clear up the smell and discharge really quick! I had very few symptoms until the 5th day. On the 5th day, it made my throat swell up to the point where I could barely swallow. Then it gave me extreme fatigue, lightheadedness, dizziness, and made me feel weak. I felt high. I stopped taking it after five days. I went to see my doctor the next day, and hopefully I won’t have to take this again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I am currently taking the twice-a-day 500 mg tablets, and I can't explain how happy I have been and how comfortable I feel now that my infection has cleared up. The pills for me worked rather quickly, by the third day, I was clean. I don't mind the awful taste of the pill if it's going to work. What I do is either open my mouth wide and drop it at the end of my throat or put it inside a small piece of food and swallow. I also get dizzy at times, but as long as I drink water, it goes away. I experience bloating, and I'm gaseous, but it's nothing I will stop my treatment for. And it is true, please DO NOT DRINK! The first day I took them, I forgot the doctor said not to drink, and I felt right away stomach cramps and dizziness."

For Diverticulitis "I've had diverticulitis for 2 years, but my recent honeymoon to Japan brought it out bad. For 8 days, I suffered until I came home. The doctor put me on this and Bactrim DS. I feel like trash daily, and it's day 3 now. I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with the all-day headaches, the emotional rollercoaster I'm on, or the stiff neck. I also get dizzy and lightheaded a lot. And yet, I still have the pain in my lower left side. Tomorrow, I'm begging for Augmentin, I can't ride this out. It's too much stress."

For Bacterial Infection "In the past, I've endured chemotherapy and radiation, so I thought I was pretty tough, however, this medication has worse side effects with each passing day. I'm on day 6 of 7 and just can't take any more. I was prescribed it for what seemed to be a UTI, but now I have bad headaches, dark urine, stomach cramps and loose stools, dizziness, a very sore vaginal area inside and out, a grotty taste in my mouth, sweating, palpitations, and constant nausea. Day 7 can go straight down the toilet as far as I'm concerned."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Due to itching, burning, and discharge, I was told I had a bacterial infection. I am on 500 MG metronidazole twice a day for 7 days. The first few days of taking the pill, I was sick and dizzy. On the third day, I avoided taking the pill so close to eating. That helped. I still get slightly dizzy around pill time. I drink great-tasting juice so I don't need to taste the pill. I feel that it's improving my infection. I have two days left. The only side effect is slight diarrhea."

For Dental Abscess "I was prescribed metronidazole for my infected wisdom tooth, it's 3 tablets a day for a course of 5 days. I started to take it on my second day, I felt so weak and felt I just wanted to lay down, didn't affect my appetite I was taking it with food. On my 3rd day, my wisdom tooth pain has gone, but in the evening I started to feel really dizzy, can't concentrate on conversation, I sometimes could not recall what I just said, banging headache, diarrhea, tight chest, nausea. Although I felt a little better in that morning, so I drove to my mother-in-law's, who lives 5 mins drive away, I started to feel dizzy I nearly crashed into a parked car, I could not judge the width of the road. I managed to get back home. I called 111 for advice that evening, I was told to stop taking this medicine immediately and keep hydrated to clear it out of the system. On the 4th day, I'm feeling still weak and dizzy with a headache. I'm allergic to penicillin."

For Bacterial Infection "Been prescribed this antibiotic, metronidazole 400 mg, for my tooth infection, swollen gum around the crown. First day was okay, but at night I couldn't sleep well, around 5 in the morning, headache too strong. Same the next day and the day after, I felt bad, even very bad. I see clients at work, which is hard because I could not see clearly, dizzy, concentration lost, feel sick, nausea, stomach pain, headache. It's an awful feeling, you feel like you're going to die. My dentist didn't tell me about side effects, just asked me if I have an allergy. The 6 days after, bad diarrhea was really hard on me, I can't go outside, plus drowsiness. This medication has been so hard on my body. It has serious side effects, nearly everyone that has reviewed it. Wouldn't take it again."
