"At the age of 33, my nose began to break out. At the time, I thought it was acne, but after seeing a dermatologist, I was told it was rosacea, which looks like acne with red spots and whiteheads. I used the metro 0.75 percent gel for one week and felt like it made it worse, so I stopped. After three weeks, my rosacea was at its worst, it had been. I tried the gel again. Two weeks on the gel, and I have not gotten any whiteheads or new spots, I do have redness. Only side effect is it seems that I am growing hair on my nose, not sure."

"Recently been diagnosed with possible rosacea on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. My face usually has an eczema flare-up a week before my period, but I suffered with this condition, building up for the last 3 months. My face was bright red, and I mean bright. I couldn't get away with not wearing makeup without people thinking my face had been burnt in a fire! Along with swelling of the eyes, very dry, tight skin that makes my face look even worse, and a huge swelling under my right eye just above the cheekbone. Was given a week course of antibiotic tablets along with the metronidazole gel. Within less than 12 hours, the redness has started to subside, and swelling is going down. I'm now on day 2, and redness has gone, and swelling under my right eye is almost back to normal. I had no stinging (apart from forehead after initial application), no burning, nothing but my skin on my face peels terribly after use, so I have reduced it to one application as opposed to 2. Supplied on the NHS, God bless her!"

"For the last year, I've had rosacea mostly on the tip of my nose. I'm 42, and prior to this, I've had basically flawless skin. The tip of my nose became red, flaky, and extremely oily, it was an extremely stressful time. I tried everything natural, and nothing worked. I tried the gel, and even the first day, I noticed a slight improvement and way less oiliness in the morning. The second day was even better. I'm on the third day, and already the redness is starting to fade."

Metronidazole topical "I've suffered from rosacea since my mid-20s. I'm 31 now. Sometimes I think the cream is useless, but if I don't use it for a few days, my skin gets rapidly much worse. After around 2 days of using it, it settled again. You have to use this every day, twice daily, without fail if you want good relief. It reduces redness and dryness, but it won't cure the condition."

"First time I used it was six years ago when I had my first outbreak of rosacea. It worked fast and well. I stopped using it because my skin was good. Now I am pregnant, and from the beginning, I had the worst rosacea outbreak. Lots of papules and pustules. I tried metronidazole for 3 weeks. It made my rosacea so much worse. I stopped! So, the doctor told me to keep using it for a bit longer to work (which I found strange since last time it worked so fast). Still, I used it again for 5 weeks straight. My face is a big mess, and even the bumps I had from the start are still there, also, sometimes not inflamed, sometimes they get inflamed again. Even makeup looks horrible now. I only used it on my left cheek. My right cheek is so much better (but my rosacea also was better on the right side from the start). I think mine is hormone-related now, I am going to stop to see what happens. I guess I just need to go with this face till the baby comes and hormones get settled."

"I have mild rosacea. Though I do get pustules from many things! Mostly everything! This was my first time using Metro, and it caused new pustules to form on my face, particularly my forehead, where I usually show my first sign of inflammation... and it’s not going well since I started it a week ago. I wait 20 minutes after washing my face, then another 20 before moisturizer. Maybe my face got too dry? My nose, which never gets bumps, got a big red spot. So, alas, I’ll go back to just being gentle and not using anything. I thought this would be good at preventing future bumps and minimizing my pores, but I think the niacinamide they added to it is also a MAJOR trigger to many “rosaceans.”"

"Realized I had rosacea after speaking to my dad, who was recently diagnosed. I thought I had adult acne (I’m 37). I would say it is mild, as it’s only on 1 of my cheeks, but it didn’t look good under makeup. I have been using this for 1 week, and the effect has been miraculous. My skin on my cheek is completely clear of the rosacea, which is amazing. I wish I would have found this 2 years ago."

"So I've had acne on my cheeks and forehead since I turned 18. I have weird white acne bumps on areas of my face. I've tried so many acne creams prescribed by doctors, and I've never found anything that works. I've been using this for 3 weeks at night and maybe sometimes during the day. It has made no difference to my skin... makes it extremely oily in the morning, and I haven’t seen any improvement. Praying for something to work someday."

"I am a 26-year-old male and have been diagnosed with rosacea. The affected area is my face, and it is more apparent on one cheek than the other. I have redness and little bumps. The redness is not in one general area, it is in small patches (you can see clear skin between the affected areas). I have been on both doxycycline mono (100 mg) and metronidazole topical cream. My rosacea has been characterized as 'mild' by my dermatologist. I have only been on both medications for five days, so my '5' rating is not meant to actually rate the drug in total, just this far. I have seen no real improvement yet, but my derma advised me that it may take up to three months to begin seeing results. I will update as time goes by."

"Didn't help with rosacea at all. Eyebrows broke out worse and continued to get worse with the use of Metrogel. It made the itching more intense, redness more intense, and bigger flakes. That was barely a week of use. Went back to the hydrocortisone just to get relief."

Metronidazole topical "After only 1 week applying the gel on my nose and cheeks, I have an upper respiratory problem, runny nose, and feel horrible. One week. My cheeks burned and itched. I am a nurse and will NEVER use this gel again. My doctor's response was nil...so much for medical professionals understanding side effects of meds they prescribe. Runny nose, watery eyes, upper respiratory discomfort. This product is HORRIBLE. And, why must I accept the Drugs.com Terms and Conditions?"

"I was told I had rosacea and there is no cure, it is genes and fair skin. I have researched for over 30 years my condition and found that sunshine plays a big part. I also found soaking in a tub helps. I find that Demodex mites love humidity and a certain warm temperature range. I log my flare-ups. In AZ and PA, my flare-ups were far less. In the Pacific NW, FL, and NC, they were awful. I have been on multiple prescriptions and am now taking D-hist to lower my histamine and bought tea tree face scrub. Waiting on other tea tree products because the face scrub seems to be helping. Will let everyone know if the products work for me. Scabies creams are thought to help too as they kill mites."

"I had major sudden breakouts. Within one hour of taking it, my face would get all red, itchy, and break out with small pimples. After using this gel, I can say it helps, my flushes are not followed by pimples. I use it after I apply moisturizer."

Metronidazole topical "I am using the cream. Worked great for me. Googled it when the doctor put me on it, and reviews said the condition would look worse before it got better. I never had acne even as a teenager, but my face was full of small pus-filled spots. That has all disappeared, still redness in the affected area but nothing like it was. Would highly recommend."

"At 63, I saw a dermatologist in November of 2017 to check for skin cancer (found a precancerous spot). My face and ears get really red at times. I was told I also have rosacea. After doing some research, I now know that certain foods, heat, alcohol, among other things, trigger the redness. I was prescribed metronidazole topical and told to use it 2x daily. I also purchased Avene gentle cleanser and other products to help my condition. I have been pretty faithful in using these. I am also trying to watch what I eat or drink. At first, this cream seemed to burn. It has gotten better. I am not getting as red as often. However, my cheeks are almost always pink. I went to the dermatologist for a follow-up this week. I was advised to continue to use metronidazole. I am giving it more time and hoping that this works."

Metronidazole topical "My experience with Rozex is somewhat of a love-hate one. I was originally provided with it for my rosacea years ago, and when I used it on my cheeks, it instantly made my face way worse. I recently had a terrible outbreak on my forehead from eating chocolate, of all things, with acne-like spots and ultra redness. I started applying Soolantra. This again appeared to be irritating it. However, I used Rozex in the morning and then Soolantra throughout the day, and after two days, my face is almost cleared. Super result and surprising, considering in the past it irritated my rosacea on my cheeks, yet on my forehead, it has nearly cleared it completely in two days."

"I used the cream for six weeks, but my provider wanted me to use it for a longer period. There was confusion as to whether this was ongoing or just for a few months. Anyhow, it helped a bit with the redness on my cheek, but did not address the area around my eye. Also, the patches of keratin that peel under my eye showed no improvement, and it did not help with my swollen eye either. I also felt a bit off, perhaps dizzy or cloudy. It was disappointing, and six weeks was enough for me. Now, about a month later, my face has gotten progressively worse and is now worse than when I started using the cream. I would not recommend this product."
