"I was given Metoprolol succinate ER 25 mg one time daily. My gut said don't do it. But I was in afib with rates up to 170 when exercising. Resting was 88 to 94. I'm allergic to many drugs now, and that scared me. I finally decided to take it. It was a low dose, so any side effects should be minimal, I was told, if any at all. I took it at 10:30 pm, it made me drowsy, I was also by 11 pm. I woke up at 2:30 am with the feeling like I was on fire from the inside out! My ears literally felt like they were going to melt off. I knew I needed to check for welts, I went to move my sheet, and my arms felt like they were full of lead. I fell right back to sleep. I woke up again at 8:30 am with no symptoms other than my head, ears, and nose were itching. That cleared up within two hours. I called my hospital pharmacy and told them the feeling was a huge reaction, not to take any more, duh lol, and that the medicine had crossed my brain barrier. You may do good with it, and I hope it helps!"
