Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the ER May 6th for nausea and heaving plus stomach pains. Was given Reglan and Pepcid to take. Saturday, May 8th, I went back to the ER because I was having stroke-like symptoms. Found out that it was the Reglan that had caused every symptom that I had: face droop, unable to talk, etc. I will never take Reglan again."

For GERD "I had the same bad experience with Reglan. Tried it two times. The second time was by mistake because the specialist prescribed it and I didn't remember the drug's name. I have been suffering from bad acid reflux and gastritis, so my physician prescribed it the first time. I took it and it was horrible! I wanted to literally jump out of the roof. It's hard to explain the feeling, but it's basically not being able to sit still, and even if you try to move, you still feel the horrible feeling. Nothing stops it. I didn't know about an antidote, so I have to endure it TWICE all by my own. My doctor already placed this drug on my hospital's profile as if I was allergic, just in case. It's a 'rare' side effect, and we got unlucky :("

For Migraine "I had a trip to the ER with a bad migraine along with nausea that I had for 2 days. I was given what they call the migraine cocktail: Benadryl, Reglan, and IV fluid. They gave me 50 mg of Benadryl IV push, then hung the Reglan along with NSS. It knocked me out almost instantly. It did give me temporary relief, but my migraine came back the next day."

For Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "I was going to my family doctor for heartburn and tried every prescription in the book for my indigestion. Come to find out, I had Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. Then, when taking chemo, I was getting nauseated and still had the indigestion, even worse. My hematologist put me on this drug, and I praise it to this day, it's the best thing out there. I am currently in remission but still have side effects from the cancer and chemo, so I have indigestion problems. As long as I take it before meals and before bedtime, I no longer have indigestion."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was on this for 6 years, and I was getting even worse and dry heaving 24/7, and it would only work if I took it in this moment for a couple of hours. So, I became addicted to them and relied on them a lot. My new doctor did some tests to see why I was feeling so unwell, and it came back that my prolactin level was 3500, which would have temporarily meant my fertility was down the drain. This scared me so much, so I decided to listen to him and try to come off it. It was so hard coming off it, and I’m still suffering from it now. I have a massive phobia of being sick, and I thought this was my comfort blanket to ensure this nausea didn’t turn into being sick, however, the side effects are not worth it. Try to stay on it for as little time as possible and discuss other anti-nausea medicines out there. All in all, a very effective and quick drug to relieve nausea within a short amount of time, but don’t rely on it like I did, as I’m now suffering at a young age with a lot of physical problems!"

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I’m 10 weeks pregnant and have been suffering with severe nausea and vomiting for the past 4 weeks. Throwing up almost every meal, and I was severely dehydrated. My OB friend recommended Unisom 25 mg nightly and B6 25 mg 3x a day, but it did not work. If anything, I just threw it up after I took it. She then prescribed me Reglan. Good heavens, it definitely has been a godsend. I’ve taken two doses the past two days now, and I have not thrown up. There’s still some slight nausea, but it’s better than not having to run to the bathroom 10 times a day to vomit."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "The urgent care center gave me a shot of Reglan and Toradol in my backside and Benadryl. The meds burned going in, but within 20 minutes, my migraine had subsided. Went home, slept. Next morning, woke up, got ready, feeling groggy, my chest was tight. I went to work and felt jittery, nauseous, dizzy, then later I got very hot, cold, and sweaty. Then I turned white as a sheet and got full body tremors. I had to be picked up from work and brought back to urgent care. Got to urgent care and they gave me Ativan and said I had an anxiety attack. The only thing that was different in my body/life was the fact that my migraine was now gone and was treated with those drugs. I'm not totally discounting the fact that I had an anxiety attack. In fact, it makes total sense the way I was feeling, but I definitely believe this drug triggered something unholy and terrifying to happen in my body. It did get rid of my migraine (which was the reason I needed it), I am grateful for that, but I was not aware of any adverse effects."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Maxolon during an SVT episode as I became quite nauseated, reacted terribly. It made me non-stop vomit, and when vomiting was unable to breathe. Took doctors a while to figure out what was causing the reaction, ended up in ICU for 72 hours..."

For Nausea/Vomiting "As most of the reviews listed here, this drug is awful. I had nausea and vomiting for several days and was given a Maxolon injection. Twenty minutes later, I had a panic attack. Never had one prior in my life. Eighteen months later, I’m still suffering from anxiety and depression and on medication to combat these conditions. Avoid this drug at all costs."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Started off with bad nausea, so was prescribed metoclopramide. Worked for a bit, but when the next attack of nausea came up, it stopped working, and that was even when taking 2, as the doctor said. Tried ondansetron, which works wonders, but unable to get ondansetron on PBS due to needing to have cancer or on chemo. I seem to have cyclic vomiting syndrome and have no real way to manage the nausea due to these not working."

For Nausea/Vomiting "The hospital put it in my IV drip when I went in the other day for severe dehydration due to hyperemesis gravidarum, and it made me feel restless and dizzy and confused, along with extremely tight stomach pain, unlike any stomach pain I’ve had before. They prescribed it to me when we left (not making it clear that it was the same drug they put in my IV), and at home it made my nausea 10x worse. I couldn’t even keep water down, and the stomach pain was beyond unbearable. Only after missing my last dose of the evening was I able to finally get down some water and keep it down. Reglan is just horrible."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Admitted to the hospital on Monday with nausea and vomiting. By Tuesday, the doctors wanted to send me home but not without eating. So, I was given IV push. Within minutes, I felt restless, needed to run out of my skin, and other all feeling of dread! One of the worst meds. The doctors acted as if they didn't understand what was going on, and the nurse didn't care. I sat in a fetal position all day trying to breathe through the overwhelming restlessness. It is now Tuesday evening, and I still feel restless! Just took Benadryl, and it did not help at all. Would not recommend this med or the hospital I was at. Also, losing faith in nurses and doctors."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I am so glad I found these reviews, as I was convincing myself I made the whole experience up. One week ago, I passed out and was very sick, and the ER gave me Reglan intravenously. Within 3 minutes, I felt like I was dying. My stomach was in knots, I wanted to rip my gown and socks off and take out my IV. I started pacing around my bed and moving stuff. I was so agitated I wanted to die. It lasted roughly 30 minutes, and I just went back to the bed and hyperventilated until it stopped. I didn’t call the nurse because I didn’t know how to explain what was happening to me. I will never allow anyone to give me this medication again."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "Have been on Reglan over 1 year. With Reglan, I am again able to participate in physical activity without vomiting and nausea afterwards. Last week, the doctor said we still don't know why when I get overheated or stressed, I vomit, get light-sensitive, nausea, etc. Put me on Zofran, blah, feel like rubbish with a constant headache now. What do I do."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I took this drug to combat hyperemesis. Very severe vomiting and nausea during my second pregnancy. My doctors refused to give me anything to treat hyperemesis during my first pregnancy, and they may have been right. I had such severe nausea and vomiting that I was sick all day, every day, and vomited at minimum 10 times a day. So when I went to the ER and was given IV fluids, Zofran, and a prescription for Reglan, I thought it was a cure. Little did I know the toll it would take on my mental health: racing thoughts. I tried stopping Reglan one month after beginning it and was okay for a few days, but the nausea came back with a vengeance. I started taking it again but just couldn’t shake the feeling of being unwell and depression. So I finally stopped taking it after about 4 months on the medication. It’s only been a few days, but I’m depressed and still not feeling 100 percent. There is no winning. If I don’t eat, I hurt my baby, and if I take this medicine, I have another hurt."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I originally was prescribed this med for migraine headaches. Then I was diagnosed with severe fibromyalgia, which sometimes causes me nausea. The med works very quickly and very well for me. I usually only have to take one pill, and the nausea is gone within a few minutes."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "Ok. I have several health issues, and today is the first day in a long time I feel decent. I was in the hospital with sepsis last month and have been battling recurring urinary tract infections and pneumonia. I got a tick bite a few days ago, got nauseous, and went to the ER. The doctor prescribed doxycycline and Reglan. I’ve never felt better!! I also have gastrointestinal issues from a medication I take. This stuff and Zofran are amazing. I’m taking the pill version, so maybe that’s why I’m not having a bad experience. Now, Compazine is a whole different story! It was given IV, and I went nuts. Panic, fear, and heart palpitations made my nausea worse! IV Benadryl in the hospital helped too."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I recently started Carboplatin chemotherapy at my local cancer care clinic. I was prescribed Emexlon (metoclopramide) 10 mg to stop nausea (if any). Nobody told me about the side effects I could get from taking them. I woke up at 2 a.m. with severe nausea and vomiting from the chemo. Emexlon was the worst thing I could have taken! Had so much anxiety I couldn’t sleep! Won’t be taking it again, that’s for sure!"
