Metoclopramide for Migraine "I went to the ER with a migraine so bad I couldn't even walk. I got hooked up to an IV that gave me the “migraine cocktail“ (Reglan, Benadryl). I felt the most terrible anxiety I have ever felt in my life. I felt like I was trapped. I kept twitching and fixating on the IV in my arm. I begged and begged and begged for them to take it out. I was prescribed Reglan alone to take when my migraines got bad again. I didn't know it was the Reglan that made me feel this way at first, so I started taking it when I felt a migraine coming on. I will never take this medication again. It is the most terrible feeling in the world. Your heart races and you feel like you're being held down, like you are being put in a near-death scenario. I hate you, Reglan!!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I was just given this medication through IV for a migraine the other day. It only took moments and my heart started instantly racing, my legs felt super heavy like I couldn’t move, my face was tingling, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. It was to the point where I couldn’t even talk just scared that I was dying. I was then given Benadryl and with 15 min the symptoms subsided. I cannot stress enough how real it was and how it was the scariest experience of my life."

Metoclopramide for GERD "I was supposed to take it 3x a day, after two doses, I began to experience severe side effects. My heart was racing, I couldn't sit still, I couldn't control my eyes. They were rolling around, I couldn't focus on anything. I only took two doses of the medication before I stopped, not even a full day's worth. The side effects (inability to focus my eyes) remained for over a week after I stopped taking it."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I had a severe migraine for several days. Norco and Fioricet weren't even touching the pain. Finally, I gave in and went into the ER. They gave me what they called a cocktail including Reglan and Benadryl. Nothing that was actually intended for pain, but I was willing to try anything, so I didn't comment. That was the day I experienced my first ever panic attack. I couldn't vocalize what was wrong, I was hot, thrashing, and grasping at my IV, my heart was racing, and I thought I was actually dying. It sounds so dramatic, but there really aren't words to describe the feeling of the moment that you believe your life is ending. Those of you who suffer from panic attacks, you have my respect and sympathy. Traumatized from Reglan. Never again!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "Lord! This was like a death experience for me. I am scarred for life. I have been feeling sick for about 4 days in which I acquired a sore throat, earache, stiff neck, super swollen lymph nodes, fever, and the worst headache ever. After the initial test that ruled out negative for meningitis, mono, and strep throat, they decided to give me a cocktail of Reglan and Benadryl through my IV. Within seconds, I felt a burning sensation as well as sleepy, so I thought I would be okay. Boy! Was I wrong. My heart was racing at 150 bpm. I lost my voice, was super jittery, and felt like I was going to die. The nurse told me to relax, she looked worried. I wanted to pull my IV off. I told her to get it off, and she insisted that she would give me Toradol to help calm me. :("

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I have never heard of anyone with the same reaction to Reglan until finding this forum. I had a c-section with the delivery of my 2nd son 11 years ago. I became extremely ill after I was given the medication to numb me. The doctor gave me Reglan I.V., and in about 60 seconds, I started sweating, my heart was racing, and I felt like I was climbing out of my skin. I felt the need to get up, but I was numb from the waist down and almost had a panic attack. I started screaming, 'WHAT DID YOU GIVE ME!!' It was horrifying! I literally thought I was dying. As soon as I started screaming, he gave me Benadryl, and the feeling went away pretty quickly. Not the way I wanted to be feeling on the day my son was born. Remember the name and be cautious. HORRIBLE DRUG!!"

For Migraine "I thought I was the only one this anxiety attack happened to. I went to the ER for a migraine. I was given Benadryl, Reglan, and Toradol. I felt a burning feeling, then a sudden high. Next thing you know, my heart started racing. I was so scared. I was shaking from being extremely cold. When I called the nurse, he looked at me as if I was crazy. I prayed myself to sleep. Horrible experience."

For Migraine "I went to the ER with a terrible migraine. No warning of side effects, and while I was anticipating relief from the migraine, the complete opposite and possibly even worse happened. It started with a little fidgeting and not being able to get comfortable in the hospital bed, and then I went from 0 to 60 as far as a freak-out. I have never felt like that before in my life, and it was quite possibly the worst feeling ever. I was alone in the hospital because my husband had to be home with the kids, and it was so frightening. I wanted to crawl out of my skin, my heart was racing, and I was clawing at my face, and I had uncontrollable full-body movements. I wanted it to stop, and all I kept asking for was help and for someone to make it stop. NEVER AGAIN!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "About a year and a half ago now, I had just had a tooth extracted that was causing a severe headache. I made the mistake of going to the ER. I was administered Benadryl and Reglan and had a horrible reaction with my heart racing. The ER tried to imply that me describing the negative effects of the drug was an 'anxiety attack' rather than side effects from the drug."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Reglan at ER for severe vomiting. My heart began to race, and I felt extremely jittery and anxious. As sick as I was, I couldn't even lie down anymore, I was so 'hyped up.' They had to give me Ativan to reverse the effects of the Reglan. Never again."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I will never take Reglan ever again! Worst experience of my life! Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "OMG. Went to the ER anxious about my pain, but it was tolerable. Dr. ordered fluids, Benadryl, and Reglan through an IV. First, the nurse came and gave me the first two and said she forgot the Reglan, she’ll be right back. The nurse came back and injected the Reglan. HOLY MOLY. It took a minute, but seconds after the ultrasound tech came in to grab me. I told her, while walking down the hall, I felt extremely dizzy and I wanted to pass out. She laid me down on her table and impending DOOM set in. I felt the most anxious I’ve ever felt, she told me, 'What did they give you?' and I said Reglan. She admittedly said, 'Oh no, here, let me speed up your fluid bag and let’s flush it out ASAP.' I said, 'Ok,' as I panicked on her table. I never felt anything like this. I have anxiety, but this was awful. She put a cold face cloth on my head and gave me 10 minutes. It worked. I had a racing heart. Sweaty, dizzy, I just couldn’t move. Never again. Apparently, this is super common. I was close to walking out of the ER."

For Migraine "I unfortunately just went through all of this again this past Saturday. The same wave of terror hit me as soon as they started the “migraine cocktail.” I even told the guy I’ve been through this before. I think I have a bad reaction to whatever drug you’re giving me. He then said I was probably just a Reglan, it tends to give people jitters. I said no, this is not just jitters, it is a full-blown panic attack. Is there anything you can take to counteract what you just gave me? And he just said no. We can’t give you anything for jitters here. Four hours of anxiety feeling like I’m freezing, having to pee every few minutes, diarrhea, heart racing, trouble breathing, feelings of doom, and the thought of wanting to run out of the hospital-all of these feelings came back. Why are they giving people this medication and not explaining the side effects?"

For Migraine "I was given this medicine in the ER for a horrible headache 2 years ago. My heart rate instantly shot up to 150, and I couldn't sit still. I wanted to rip my IV out. They pumped me full of Ativan to try and get me to calm down. My legs and toes started moving on their own, and they kept me in the hospital for 3 days!!! I now am plagued with horrible panic attacks, and my toes still move on their own. Never take this drug!"

For Migraine "I was given the IV 'migraine cocktail' also when in the ER for a severe migraine. The nurse told me the Benadryl could make my chest feel heavy and possibly anxious. Benadryl was pushed slowly via IV, and I started feeling relaxed and sleepy. THEN came the Reglan! After the Reglan was administered, my relaxed, sleepy state reversed, and I felt like I wanted to rip the IV out of my arm. I felt so hot, like I was boiling from the inside out. I was so nauseous, my heart rate went way up. I was in full panic mode, feeling like I made a huge mistake!!! I told my husband to get the nurse, and when he finally found him, he did nothing for me except tell me to calm down! Ugh... Never again will I put myself through that. Reglan... NO THANKS!"

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this medication while I was in the ER with food poisoning. It made me feel like I was crawling out of my skin with anxiety. It was like having the worst panic attack ever that I couldn't escape. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was going to die. The nurse came in and gave me some Benadryl, saying that reaction sometimes occurs with that medication. It made me go to sleep, and it was such a relief."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I went in for a migraine and nausea. Long story short, I was given fluids and was doing okay until the nurse put Reglan in. I used to drink and know what a buzz feels like, which is what I would describe as the first feeling, and then from there until it finally started gradually wearing off (which I could not tell when it started wearing off), the only way I can describe my physical/mental state was as if I was being hit with a bunch of G's at once, heart rate skyrocketed, panicky feeling, and a lot of ticklish feeling in my chest area and body, and it was all I could do to get myself through however long it lasted. The nurses/doctor said some have good reactions and some people, not so much. I definitely did not react well and will be putting that on my chart to NEVER GIVE ME AGAIN. It was like trying a street drug and then waiting it out. My mom said it scared her seeing me like that. I do not know how this drug is EVEN AVAILABLE to give people."

For Migraine "I've been hospitalized for migraines many times, even extreme vomiting during pregnancy, and given Reglan + Benadryl through IV. Every time I've been given this combo through an IV, it triggered a panic attack to the point I wanted to rip my IV out myself and run out of the hospital. It made my heart rate increase, and I needed an EKG to ensure I wasn't experiencing a heart attack during my pregnancy at about 22 weeks. I suffer from anxiety and quickly learned I do not react well to this combo. Thankfully, explaining my experience, my nurse decided to do Benadryl first and slowly release the Reglan as a slow drip every 10 mins. Didn't have as severe of a panic attack this time around. If you suffer from anxiety or panic, please let them know and ask for it slowly - as given too quick may cause severe panic."

For Migraine "I was administered 10 mg of Metoclopramide at the ER for a horrific migraine. Within seconds, my heart started racing, I was restless, anxious, and I felt like crawling out of my skin. The nurse said this was a common side effect. This medication is poison, and I swore never to take it again."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "Went to the ER for a horrible migraine that would not go away. Doctor gave me a 'migraine cocktail,' and Reglan was part of it. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I honestly feel like I have some PTSD symptoms from this experience. Gave me through IV and instantly started to have a panic attack. I felt so restless, like my bones wanted to jump out of my skin, couldn’t get comfortable, had to repeatedly get out of my bed and pace the room, this combined with dizziness was horrible. My heart rate also skyrocketed to 140 and stayed in that range all night according to my Fitbit. Two weeks after the ER visit, every time I stood up or did any type of activity, my heart would go to 160-180. I ended up back in the ER 4 times after this experience because of my heart. I’ve never had heart problems before taking this medication! It took around 2 months for me to start to feel normal again."

For Migraine "I had a sudden onset migraine, and nothing was helping the pain go away-urgent care. Being a deaf person, the experience at urgent care was already stressful because they don’t use live interpreters. The first thing they gave me was Reglan. I felt a quick warm feeling, then my heart started racing. I passed out briefly twice and wanted to run out of the room. I could barely breathe. My jaws were shaking, and I kept wanting to get out of the bed. They gave me Benadryl, and I’m sensitive to it, so I argued my way for them to only administer 1/4 of it. They also gave me 800 mg of Tylenol. They did a CT scan, and I was still twitching. The reaction lasted almost 2 hours. I ended up falling asleep 4 hours later and slept all day the next day... Definitely an experience I never want to have again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have taken Maxolon for morning sickness. On the two occasions I have taken this medication, I had an extreme reaction within 10 minutes. Racing heart, extreme anxiety, restlessness - I have experienced a panic attack that day, and I am still struggling with the aftereffects. I immediately threw this medication in the bin. I began experiencing panic attacks in the third trimester of my last pregnancy. At the time, I was using Maxolon, but I had put it down to hormones. I now feel that based on how I feel now, it is more than likely that Maxolon triggered this. I now have lasting effects of panic attacks for no reason. It’s been a horrendous experience, to say the least."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "When I went to Myrtle Beach in July 2021, I had constant vomiting after eating an edible gummy and freaking out. I went to the hospital and continued to vomit and act funny, so the nurses gave me some water, then hooked me to an IV and gave me Reglan. It stopped my vomiting/queasiness, but I had the worst panic attack I ever had in my life. My heart began racing super fast, and my legs and arms and torso became insanely restless, like I needed to run around the world while throwing out my arms repeatedly. I screamed and cried hysterically. I ripped out my IV before I did that and even ripped my shirt. They injected me with Ativan, and I calmed down."
