For Migraine "I was given part of my migraine cocktail in the ER via IV. They said it would make me anxious, but the IV Benadryl would help counteract it. LET ME TELL YOU, IT DID NOT!! I am an RN and have given this med IV push, I had no idea it could make you feel like this!! I wanted to crawl out of my skin, I could not breathe. Anxiety is an understatement. I even had residual anxiety days later and still feel anxious thinking about it now. I had shakes so bad."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan for nausea for pregnancy, and within minutes I felt like I was going crazy. I was super jittery and sweating like a pig. I felt like ripping my IV out and running home. I couldn’t even pee. It took a few hours for it to go away, and it was horrible."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Reglan to help with nausea from antibiotics and felt soon after taking it paranoia, anxiety, and like I wanted to die. This was totally uncharacteristic of me. I called the pharmacy and asked if this could be a side effect. She told me I may be having an allergic reaction and to take some Benadryl and call 911. I took the Benadryl and fell asleep. I didn't call 911. When I woke up, I was fine and back to normal. Have never taken Reglan again."

For Migraine "I’ve had migraines for over 30 years. It took a few ER visits for me to realize that Reglan took away my nausea, took the edge off my pain (never completely took it away), but made me paranoid and anxious!!!!! I tell them I’m allergic because I will never take it again. Toradol is great! The injection burns, but the migraine relief begins in less than 10 minutes. Pain is gone in 20 minutes. I ask for it by name!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "OMG. Went to the ER anxious about my pain, but it was tolerable. Dr. ordered fluids, Benadryl, and Reglan through an IV. First, the nurse came and gave me the first two and said she forgot the Reglan, she’ll be right back. The nurse came back and injected the Reglan. HOLY MOLY. It took a minute, but seconds after the ultrasound tech came in to grab me. I told her, while walking down the hall, I felt extremely dizzy and I wanted to pass out. She laid me down on her table and impending DOOM set in. I felt the most anxious I’ve ever felt, she told me, 'What did they give you?' and I said Reglan. She admittedly said, 'Oh no, here, let me speed up your fluid bag and let’s flush it out ASAP.' I said, 'Ok,' as I panicked on her table. I never felt anything like this. I have anxiety, but this was awful. She put a cold face cloth on my head and gave me 10 minutes. It worked. I had a racing heart. Sweaty, dizzy, I just couldn’t move. Never again. Apparently, this is super common. I was close to walking out of the ER."

For GERD "I was prescribed this medicine for GERD. I had not been able to eat or drink anything for a couple of days, so I was feeling pretty terrible anyway. After I started to take this medicine, I became extremely depressed and anxious. I could not stay awake for more than 20 minutes at a time, and that entire time I was so nauseous I didn't want to be awake. I had terrible back pain, and I was shaking like I had been out in the Arctic. Finally, my dad told me not to take the Reglan and to see what happened. I skipped my 10 P.M. dose and woke up about 10 A.M. the next day. I felt completely fine, other than my back was still sore. I lost three days of my life to this drug, and I can't believe a medicine that is supposed to help you can do so much harm."

For Migraine "Like everyone else mentions, DO NOT accept for migraine treatment! They will tell you they're giving you a migraine cocktail (Benadryl, Reglan, Toradol). I have anxiety and am prone to anxiety/panic attacks, it induced the worst anxiety attack I have ever had. Sharing this because I started shaking uncontrollably. I almost pulled the needle out of my arm. I couldn't walk when they asked me to get up for my brain scan. When I told the staff I was starting to feel anxious, they said, 'Yeah, you'll feel funny,' which is quite the understatement. I wanted to scream. I couldn't hold my arms out in front of me for the neuro exam (I had been having migraines for a week straight, so I expressed my neuro concerns). Thankfully, I survived, but I am genuinely traumatized."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed Reglan during my first pregnancy for hyperemesis gravidarum, and now I have to get an allergy band every time I go for medical treatment. Within half an hour, I began to experience uncontrollable muscle spasms, and although I only took this medication once in the morning, the spasms did not completely go away for a full 12 hours. During this time, I felt extremely nervous - like I wanted to unzip my skin and run away. Reglan did absolutely nothing to curb my extreme nausea and vomiting. Thankfully, my baby was unaffected."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this drug Reglan while I was in labor. I was vomiting every 2-3 contractions and felt awful. Prior to receiving the medication, I was very calm and taking deep breaths through my contractions. Within minutes of receiving the IV Reglan, I had a HUGE anxiety attack and began flipping out, saying that I couldn’t do this anymore, just take the baby out. I was literally alligator rolling on the bed. I was in a full-blown panic attack. It took my husband and the nurse 10 minutes to calm me down, and I was still vomiting during contractions. The rest of my labor went fine, and I didn’t panic at any other point."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I received this medication for nausea while 39 weeks pregnant. I initially received Zofran, and when that didn’t work, they gave me Reglan. I was not informed of the side effects I would feel. I have really bad anxiety when it comes to side effects after receiving Benadryl through IV 2 years ago. My IV site was infiltrated, and the Benadryl leaked into my bloodstream. Since then, I’m anxious about receiving anything other than fluids through IV. Anyway, they gave me the Reglan. After 10 mins, I was inconsolable. I couldn’t find a comfortable spot. I started to breathe faster, I felt under the influence almost. An extreme panic attack. I was trying to keep myself from shaking. I got chills. I told my husband to hug me (he usually does this when I have an anxiety-induced attack). He had to hug me for 15 minutes. If he let go, I just kept getting up and down. I wanted to cry, I felt like screaming, I felt like jumping out of my own skin. I kept telling myself to relax. It was crazy."

For Migraine "CAUTION: HORRIBLE REACTION. I was hospitalized for severe migraine. They gave me the 'migraine cocktail' which included Reglan. Wow! Where to begin? 15 or 20 minutes later, maybe, I started sweating, ripped my sweater off in front of my fiancé and the doctor, then I immediately had to go to the restroom and got diarrhea. I wanted to jump out of my skin, I felt so anxious, irritated, it was absolutely terrifying! I forgot what to say to the doctor about my symptoms and cried to my fiancé that I wanted to leave immediately but couldn't. I will NEVER take Reglan again. I am so bewildered that this happened to me and other patients. DO NOT TAKE!"

For Migraine "The urgent care center gave me a shot of Reglan and Toradol in my backside and Benadryl. The meds burned going in, but within 20 minutes, my migraine had subsided. Went home, slept. Next morning, woke up, got ready, feeling groggy, my chest was tight. I went to work and felt jittery, nauseous, dizzy, then later I got very hot, cold, and sweaty. Then I turned white as a sheet and got full body tremors. I had to be picked up from work and brought back to urgent care. Got to urgent care and they gave me Ativan and said I had an anxiety attack. The only thing that was different in my body/life was the fact that my migraine was now gone and was treated with those drugs. I'm not totally discounting the fact that I had an anxiety attack. In fact, it makes total sense the way I was feeling, but I definitely believe this drug triggered something unholy and terrifying to happen in my body. It did get rid of my migraine (which was the reason I needed it), I am grateful for that, but I was not aware of any adverse effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I had surgery on my nose and was given Reglan afterwards because of nausea. This was a terrible mistake. I immediately felt jittery and so restless, like I could run a marathon. Thankfully, I was still tired, so I fell asleep not long after. A few months later, I went to the ER after vomiting all night, and the nurse injected something into my IV without telling me exactly what it was, and I got the same feelings all over again. They had to give me something to reverse it, and this time I asked for the name of the drug so I can make sure it’s never given to me again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "The worst experience in my life. I went in for a flare-up from my IBS, the RN gave me Reglan through my IV, and immediately I felt suicidal! I never wanted to escape my own body in my entire life. Reglan gave me the worst anxiety possible. I wouldn’t recommend this medication at all. It’s a very, very scary experience."

For Migraine "Man, do I wish I looked it up on here before the doctor just gave it to me for a terrible migraine. I also got the migraine cocktail, but the doctor never mentioned to me that it could cause the feeling I was about to have. One of the worst feelings in the world, like your skin is crawling and a terrible anxiety attack with it. Wanted to rip the IV out and run out of the hospital type feeling. I definitely do not recommend Reglan!! Worst experience at the hospital I’ve ever had."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for non-stop vomiting, and they gave me Reglan through the IV. I was already sitting in the room, waiting to be treated for 3 hours, so I was already annoyed, but once they administered the Reglan and left me there for what would’ve been more hours, I felt like I was going insane. Never in my life have I felt so manic, I called my husband, stuttering to him, saying, “I’m gonna rip the IV out of my arm! I have to get out of this hospital!” So he told me to calm down, and maybe someone would come check on me, but an hour passed, and I finally lost it and dialed the nurse to discharge me from the hospital ASAP. I felt so embarrassed and kept saying, “I don’t know why I feel like this,” but I was too restless, and my anxiety was literally making me crazy. They never warned me of any side effects."

For Migraine "Was given IV of Reglan/Benadryl. Immediately started to feel anxious and wanted to rip out the IV to run out of the hospital. It has been 3 hours, and I have calmed down. Hoping I don’t have any long-lasting problems like many have reported. Will report back in a few days."

For Migraine "Given in IV emergency room for headache. Not aware of the medicine nor explained to me, I was left in a hallway awaiting imaging. My body's immediate response to Reglan was something moving in my veins and a crazy urge to get out! My head and thoughts were no longer mine. This was not the worst part. The worst part is that they didn't tell me what medicine I was given nor explained that this was a 'normal' thing that this med does. The most horrible thing is that this has been years ago, and I still live with panic and anxiety since. No longer trusting my mind or body, afraid to drive, can't be left alone, some days are okay, but I'm not the same person anymore."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this medication while I was in the ER with food poisoning. It made me feel like I was crawling out of my skin with anxiety. It was like having the worst panic attack ever that I couldn't escape. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was going to die. The nurse came in and gave me some Benadryl, saying that reaction sometimes occurs with that medication. It made me go to sleep, and it was such a relief."

For GERD "A word to the wise: be sure the doc knows what medicines you are on before you take this medicine. I have acid reflux really bad. Went to the ER, couldn't breathe, lost my voice, felt like I had an extremely tight chest. They diagnosed me with GERD, I said I think I have caught the stomach bug. The ER doc gave me two shots of Reglan and a prescription to fill. Next morning I take my first dose, spend the next two days confused, anxious, down, and depressed. Looked up side effects of Reglan and realized it didn't mix well with the meds that I take daily, and I had been given a little too much at once. After taking a couple of days of Mucinex for congestion, Mylanta for my stomach, and using an inhaler to breathe, three days later, stomach bug gone!"

For Migraine "After about a week of headaches and migraines with no relief despite taking every treatment I had available, I went to the ER. The doctor mentioned Reglan as a treatment option, and I accepted. I got Reglan in an IV, and a few minutes later, I just started to feel very anxious. Everything just felt very urgent, and I felt very restless. My face also started to feel hot. I also was alone during this visit, which I'm sure didn't help. I also suffer from anxiety, so it just increased my usual symptoms. My migraine relief was only so-so; it came back the next day. Reglan might be a good option for you if your migraine is really bad, but be careful because it can make you really anxious."

For Migraine "I went in for a migraine and nausea. Long story short, I was given fluids and was doing okay until the nurse put Reglan in. I used to drink and know what a buzz feels like, which is what I would describe as the first feeling, and then from there until it finally started gradually wearing off (which I could not tell when it started wearing off), the only way I can describe my physical/mental state was as if I was being hit with a bunch of G's at once, heart rate skyrocketed, panicky feeling, and a lot of ticklish feeling in my chest area and body, and it was all I could do to get myself through however long it lasted. The nurses/doctor said some have good reactions and some people, not so much. I definitely did not react well and will be putting that on my chart to NEVER GIVE ME AGAIN. It was like trying a street drug and then waiting it out. My mom said it scared her seeing me like that. I do not know how this drug is EVEN AVAILABLE to give people."

For Migraine "Went to urgent care last night after having a migraine for 4 days, they immediately gave me a migraine cocktail including Reglan. I will say the cocktail knocked out the migraine very quickly, but almost as quickly, I got a horrible feeling of anxiety, doom, like I HAD to get out of there NOW. I wanted to crawl out of my own skin. I probably should have said something to the doctor, but I just wanted to leave so badly that I didn't say anything. Exactly like others have described, I was incredibly anxious, felt like I needed to get up and run, couldn't hold still. I'm here at home the next day, and the side effects still haven't worn off. I'm hoping they will soon because this is miserable. However, I will say the migraine cocktail worked like a charm on the headache itself, and I'm incredibly grateful for that."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I’m pregnant and went to the ER for nausea. They gave me fluids and then gave me Reglan in the IV. I immediately felt an overwhelming feeling of anxiety. A few minutes later, I had them take the IV out. I felt antsy and couldn’t sit still. Didn’t click that it was from the Reglan since I have a history of anxiety and don’t like fluids going in me. But 6 hours later, I’m home, anxious, restless, shaking, foot, and irritated. So I googled the medicine and sure enough everyone here is having a similar experience. Don’t recommend, definite anxiety inducer. Hope it goes away. The reviews saying they still have it from one dose are scaring me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Ok. I have several health issues, and today is the first day in a long time I feel decent. I was in the hospital with sepsis last month and have been battling recurring urinary tract infections and pneumonia. I got a tick bite a few days ago, got nauseous, and went to the ER. The doctor prescribed doxycycline and Reglan. I’ve never felt better!! I also have gastrointestinal issues from a medication I take. This stuff and Zofran are amazing. I’m taking the pill version, so maybe that’s why I’m not having a bad experience. Now, Compazine is a whole different story! It was given IV, and I went nuts. Panic, fear, and heart palpitations made my nausea worse! IV Benadryl in the hospital helped too."
