For Migraine "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION!!! The doctors gave me this medication without explaining to me the common side effect of basically going insane for a short period of time. They just told me I would feel 'weird' for a little bit and then it would go away. They didn’t even ask me if I had a history of mental illness. I was expecting to feel drowsy or sleepy or a bit off because that’s what feeling 'weird' is supposed to feel like. But no!!! I suffered temporary insanity!!! Extreme derealization, depersonalization, depression, hopelessness, my life felt meaningless, I felt like I was dying and kept thinking about how I did not want to die!!! I felt doomed!!! I wanted to jump out of my skin and run out of the hospital!!!! I was about to rip the IV off my arm. Tremendous emotional despair and near-death experience!!! It was a nightmare while being awake!! I would much rather have the migraine!!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan via IV injection in the ER because of nausea. When I tell you this is the worst drug I've ever taken, I mean it. As soon as it was injected, I felt like I was in a different world. I then threw up 15 times, and it is almost a week after taking it, and I am just now getting over the suicidal thoughts and depression. I still have nightmares and anxiety, but nothing like it was. I will never take this drug again, and neither will my children when I have them because I think this drug shouldn't be on the market."

For Gastroparesis "I am a female in my mid-20s. I was given Reglan for issues related to previous abdominal surgery and gastroparesis. I only took it for about 2 days before I stopped. I felt extremely restless and couldn't stop sleeping, but also was never comfortable enough to fully fall asleep. I also felt like I was in a psychotic episode that was never going to end. I was extremely irritated/agitated, very depressed, and having suicidal thoughts. I thought I needed to quit my job and couldn't have a conversation with anyone. I know my doctor had no way of knowing how I would react to Reglan, and some people do well, but I think this is way too risky to be handing out."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given medication through IV for a flare-up of vertigo. I am so glad I found this thread because it just confirms I wasn't crazy. I literally described these same feelings to my family after. It's been a week, and I don't feel myself still. So immediately after the injection, I felt like I wanted to run out of the hospital. I sat up in the bed and wanted to peel my face off. I felt sad, hopeless, and like if it didn't stop, I would go crazy. I got so worried I called my mom and told her my body is so agitated and I can't stop moving. If I called the doctor in, I wouldn't even be able to talk for him to understand because this felt HORRIBLE and like I was being tortured. Avoid this drug, please. These comments are real!"

"Please do not take this drug, Reglan! I was given it in an IV for headaches, but this drug gave me the worst feeling I have ever had in my life! I thought I was going to die! Immediately, it gave me a hot feeling going through my body like when you take the dye before having an MRI scan. I felt dizzy, confused, depressed, and could not even think properly. I could not carry on a conversation! I could not feel my feet, and I had trouble moving my legs. I prayed for relief from these side effects! This drug is awful! There is no way I can describe how it made me feel! I honestly would not take it again for a billion dollars! Please do not give this drug to any patients and make sure you do not let anyone give it to you! This drug is horrific! About 10 hours later, I am okay now. And I thank God I made it through that horrible experience! Never again!!!!"

For Migraine "Never take this. This was given to me in the hospital for a migraine. I had a horrible anxiety attack and thought I was going to die. I have been severely depressed since then and have horrible anxiety. Anyone else feel this way?"

For Nausea/Vomiting "This was given to me as an IV, and I felt restless and anxious. I had hallucinations and unbelievable depression and emotional pain. I thought I went crazy and had suicidal thoughts. I was depressed for a month after that. I couldn't tell you if it worked because I was too busy arguing with myself on whether I was crazy. I am one of those people who never thought suicide was an answer to anything, but this medicine made me believe it was the only answer."

For Migraine "Caused immediate dystonic reaction, hallucinations, derealization, depersonalization, agoraphobia, monophobia, daily panic attacks, severe depression, akathisia, legs stopped working, muscle tremors, severe fatigue, chills, fainting, diarrhea, nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, acid reflux, shortness of breath, red burning skin, numbness in limbs, headache, restlessness, chest pain. Was given this drug via IV one-time dose! It has now been 6 months and I am still completely disabled, feels like I'm living in a dream, scared all of the time, can't eat, no joy, suffering for months on end. I’ve heard it can take a year or more to recover. Please join the Reglan Support Group on Facebook if you are suffering long-term effects from this med and don’t let doctors gaslight you! Keep in mind I have no history of mental illness and now have similar issues to TBI and severe panic disorder."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have been taking this medicine off and on for about 2 years. When I first started, I hated it because it made me feel anxious, depressed, and emotional. I was on 10 mg a few times a day. It took the sickness away, but I couldn't handle the side effects, so I stopped, and the sickness came back. Finally, the doctor cut it down to 5 mg, and I felt so much better with that. The side effects were gone, and the sickness was controlled too. I'm doing very well with this medicine, but the long-term use still has me nervous because I don't want to develop tremors later. So far, so good, and I feel pretty good."

For Lactation Augmentation "I was given Reglan off-label to promote the progesterone hormone to increase my breast milk supply after my son was born. After taking it steadily and gradually upping the dose after a couple of weeks, I started having severe side effects. I went in to work one morning and couldn’t remember how to do my job, I would fall asleep at traffic lights, had difficulty concentrating and focusing my eyes, and finally started having severe panic attacks, depression, and tardive dyskinesia. I ended up in the ER and had to get under psychiatric care. 14 years later, I still have to be on anxiety meds, and if I try to get off, the symptoms return. Be very careful taking this medicine."

For Lactation Augmentation "The purpose of my writing this review is to warn nursing mothers against using this drug. The drug worked - it increased my milk supply - but at a very high cost. Prior to taking Reglan, I had never had issues with depression or insomnia and very little issues with anxiety. Throughout the latter part of my taking this drug, anxiety increased steadily. Then I stopped sleeping. I became extremely anxious and severely depressed. After over two weeks going on a total of no more than 15 hours of sleep, I was admitted to the hospital. While in the hospital, I stopped taking Reglan. After five days off the drug, I was fine. Please do not take this drug. The other reviews are accurate as well. It is not worth it."

For Migraine "If you have never taken this drug, don't! Reglan was given to me for my migraine. I have anxiety normally. Once given Reglan, I had panic attacks, jumping up, freaking out, trying to get the hell out of the hospital. They wouldn't let me leave, so I started ripping out my IV and started walking out. They caught me and strapped me down, which I fought. I cried, my body shook, impending dread, depression with an overactive panic attack. Forgo the Benadryl. It didn't help but said I was 'allergic to it,' so they gave me Benadryl, and they gave me 2 mg of Lorazepam, and I started to calm down. I wanted to die. Since then, I tell them I'm allergic to it, but I still have panic attacks every time I'm in the ER and severe anxiety. I need meds for it now."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan about two months ago to subside the vomiting that came along with hyperemesis gravidarum from my pregnancy. While it fixed that issue, it gave me the worst depression. I don't want to leave my bed, shower, or take care of myself or anything else. I'm letting go of this drug tomorrow."

"DO NOT take this medicine. May be the worst drag I ever taken. I have a lot of side effects, like depression, and my face numb, my neck stiff like stone, my body shake for 9 days now, and I only took it for 3 days at a dose of 3 times a day."

For Lactation Augmentation "Took it while breastfeeding to help increase my milk production. While it worked for that, it also put me into a severe depression, which I had never experienced before. My family and doc were convinced I was suffering from PPD (just the phrase, 'How are you?' would send me sobbing). After doing a little research, I learned of the side effect and stopped taking it. The symptoms ceased almost immediately. About 2 weeks later, as my milk production slowed, I thought I'd give it another try (thinking I'd be able to combat the feelings, now that I knew the cause). Within a few hours, I could literally feel the black cloud of depression descend. It was terrifying. I never took another pill and have never had another bout of depression."

For GERD "Side effects experienced with Reglan: Reglan made me suicidal, depressed, almost took my life!!! Was scared to death. I developed akathisia, suicidal thoughts, my brain was talking to me telling me to take me and my dog's life, and this is NOT me! My parents had to watch me every day until I had to be placed on an antidepressant and had to wait 6-7 weeks until it kicked in! I’ll never be the same! 1 year later, I'm still on an antidepressant with so many up and down days, still completely depersonalized! So many times I wanted to give up, but I prayed every night to keep pushing and saying to myself my future will be so bright. Couldn’t eat, sleep, or even bathe myself, my family had to take care of me! With just ONE DOSE! This pill is so strong! To do something like this to me, I’ve never ever!!! Out of all the meds I had to be placed on and tried for my stomach condition, never experienced ANYTHING like this! It may work for some people."

For GERD "I was prescribed this medicine for GERD. I had not been able to eat or drink anything for a couple of days, so I was feeling pretty terrible anyway. After I started to take this medicine, I became extremely depressed and anxious. I could not stay awake for more than 20 minutes at a time, and that entire time I was so nauseous I didn't want to be awake. I had terrible back pain, and I was shaking like I had been out in the Arctic. Finally, my dad told me not to take the Reglan and to see what happened. I skipped my 10 P.M. dose and woke up about 10 A.M. the next day. I felt completely fine, other than my back was still sore. I lost three days of my life to this drug, and I can't believe a medicine that is supposed to help you can do so much harm."

For GERD "A word to the wise: be sure the doc knows what medicines you are on before you take this medicine. I have acid reflux really bad. Went to the ER, couldn't breathe, lost my voice, felt like I had an extremely tight chest. They diagnosed me with GERD, I said I think I have caught the stomach bug. The ER doc gave me two shots of Reglan and a prescription to fill. Next morning I take my first dose, spend the next two days confused, anxious, down, and depressed. Looked up side effects of Reglan and realized it didn't mix well with the meds that I take daily, and I had been given a little too much at once. After taking a couple of days of Mucinex for congestion, Mylanta for my stomach, and using an inhaler to breathe, three days later, stomach bug gone!"

For Migraine "I had the most horrendous experience with Reglan for migraine. I’ve never had a migraine bad enough to go to the ER, but I couldn’t kick this one. I wish I was well enough to look up each ingredient before I let them administer the drugs to me. The second I received the Reglan dose, I immediately felt a crushing, awful, crawling-out-of-my-skin weird feeling. I had to pull my mask down and started having a panic attack. Reality felt completely warped. I wanted to pull the IV out, I couldn’t hold still, even though they told me that holding still would make it go away faster: umm, not true. No one told me the potential side effects of this medication. I felt like I was dying, my legs were shaking, I was so restless and hopeless. The nurses kept saying it would go away after a few minutes, of course, it didn’t. After 30 minutes of this nightmare, they finally gave me Ativan for anxiety, and it helped. Stay away from Reglan!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I took this drug to combat hyperemesis. Very severe vomiting and nausea during my second pregnancy. My doctors refused to give me anything to treat hyperemesis during my first pregnancy, and they may have been right. I had such severe nausea and vomiting that I was sick all day, every day, and vomited at minimum 10 times a day. So when I went to the ER and was given IV fluids, Zofran, and a prescription for Reglan, I thought it was a cure. Little did I know the toll it would take on my mental health: racing thoughts. I tried stopping Reglan one month after beginning it and was okay for a few days, but the nausea came back with a vengeance. I started taking it again but just couldn’t shake the feeling of being unwell and depression. So I finally stopped taking it after about 4 months on the medication. It’s only been a few days, but I’m depressed and still not feeling 100 percent. There is no winning. If I don’t eat, I hurt my baby, and if I take this medicine, I have another hurt."
