For Gastroparesis "After weeks of debating (and severe stomach pain, constipation, nausea caused by a mild case of gastroparesis), I finally decided to take Reglan. I was scared like the rest of you. But guess what? I'm still here, and it's been about two weeks. It has helped me IMMENSELY. I'm pushing 29, so maybe I'm still in the 'safe zone.' I know there is a threat to older women, but if I had not taken Reglan, I'd still be the vegetable that I was, living off of noodles and potatoes. Thankfully, I have very close friends and family in the medical field, and they assured me that the chances of the terrible side effects weren't as high as they may seem on the internet. It is a medicine prescribed daily, and many people are pleased. (5mg 3x daily) Good luck!!"

For Gastroparesis "Reglan has been a miracle for me. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis and tried to control the symptoms through diet because I was worried about the potential side effects, but the nausea was debilitating. My doctor finally didn't give me a choice, he said I needed to be on Reglan as I was losing too much weight because I couldn't eat. I truly feel like a new person. Although I still have 'spells' where the nausea comes back, it's not nearly as severe and is controllable with Zofran. I would recommend Reglan to anyone with gastroparesis!"

For Gastroparesis "This is a follow-up to my earlier unfavorable review. I experienced several negative effects due to an excess of serotonin caused by my concomitant use of several antidepressants. My doctor adjusted my dosage to only 1/2 of a 5mg tablet taken a few hours after my evening dinner and did not eat again until breakfast the next morning. This reduced my negative effects to almost zero while still maintaining the medicine's efficacy. I am able to continue this dose every other evening with very favorable results! There has been a considerable reduction in the severe bloating, nausea, and inability to eat even a small meal. I am thrilled to finally feel normal again! I'm so happy I stuck with it, a simple dose adjustment has changed my life!"

For Migraine "I went to the local quick care emergency room with a severe headache and pain. I was having nausea as well. They came in and gave me a dose of IV Reglan, and within seconds I was freaking out, trying to pull my IV out and yelling that I needed to get out of there. I was dizzy, disoriented, and felt like I was on some serious drugs. I was having severe anxiety, and I felt like my heart was going to explode. I have never reacted this way to any drug, and it was a terrifying experience. I would not recommend this POS medication to anyone, please be careful, especially if you have preexisting anxiety!!"

"WORST experience of my life! I was prescribed Reglan for nausea since I had been given pain medicine for a kidney stone. Immediately after putting the Reglan in my IV, I was a different person. I became extremely agitated. I had muscle spasms in my neck and couldn't stop twitching. I felt insane and like I was crawling out of my skin. I was so tired but couldn't sleep. I felt like what I would imagine roid rage to feel... The absolute worst feeling! I was given Benadryl to dull the side effects, and it didn't touch the symptoms. I had to wait for the medicine to run its course to actually feel normal again. I'm not sure how this medicine is okay to administer, but it needs to be illegal."

For Migraine "This drug is horrible! I went to the emergency department due to a post-COVID migraine that was so bad, I thought I might be having a stroke. They put this drug in the IV to help with the nausea. I’d never had it before and wasn’t told the potential side effects. Within ten minutes of starting the IV, I became agitated and began thinking of harming myself. I had no idea it was from the drug and only knew that I needed to leave the hospital so I could harm myself. Of course, I did not tell anybody that! I just told them that I was feeling better and needed to leave right away. A nurse came and removed the IV so I could leave, and within minutes, the intense thoughts and agitation subsided. I didn’t know what had happened to me until I got home later on and looked up the side effects of this drug. Even worse, if I had completed suicide, everybody would have thought it was me and not because of this nightmare drug. Terrifying to think how many this has happened to. Please stay safe."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I’m in my first trimester and was prescribed Reglan 3 times a day for my severe nausea. I literally took a dose this morning at 8 am and haven’t taken another one since. This pill is awful. I have been on it for a week and have experienced anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, and STILL nauseous. I would take it and feel like I had to get up and move around, I was antsy. I’m so glad I found this forum so that I know I’m not going crazy. Please, if you have nausea, ask the doctor for a different medication."

For Gastroparesis "I was diagnosed with gastroparesis back in May 2019 and was put on erythromycin first. I still had early satiety, vomiting, severe nausea, and lack of appetite, so my GI put me on Reglan. I take 5 mg Reglan, 3x daily before meals and as needed for nausea and vomiting. I alternate Zofran, Phenergan, and Reglan constantly throughout the day so I can keep my nausea under control and vomiting to a minimum. I've been on Reglan for about 6 months and haven't been hospitalized for malnutrition, dehydration, vomiting, or nausea since starting it. My GI hopes to eventually cut back on the amount of Reglan I take, but so far, I've gained weight, can eat most days, and am able to keep food down. If you're struggling with gastroparesis, I highly recommend Reglan. Oral and IV Reglan have saved my life and staved off any feeding tubes."

For Migraine "Caused immediate dystonic reaction, hallucinations, derealization, depersonalization, agoraphobia, monophobia, daily panic attacks, severe depression, akathisia, legs stopped working, muscle tremors, severe fatigue, chills, fainting, diarrhea, nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, acid reflux, shortness of breath, red burning skin, numbness in limbs, headache, restlessness, chest pain. Was given this drug via IV one-time dose! It has now been 6 months and I am still completely disabled, feels like I'm living in a dream, scared all of the time, can't eat, no joy, suffering for months on end. I’ve heard it can take a year or more to recover. Please join the Reglan Support Group on Facebook if you are suffering long-term effects from this med and don’t let doctors gaslight you! Keep in mind I have no history of mental illness and now have similar issues to TBI and severe panic disorder."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have been having heartburn, nausea, and generally feeling sick to my stomach for years. I have been taking this drug for 3 days, and my stomach has not felt this good in years. I hope this continues to work, and I can now sleep late because I am not getting up to puke or take an antacid."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan intravenously for nausea while in the emergency room. Almost immediately, I began having these overwhelming urges to rip the IV out of my arm and run away as fast as possible, it felt like a shock wave was passing through every muscle in my body. The nurse said it was 'restlessness,' and it wasn't uncommon. Every few seconds, the sensation would return, and all I could do was wiggle around in the bed and cry, I felt so helpless. It took an hour for the feelings to go away."

For Gastroparesis "This medication can be dangerous, but it works REALLY well. I used it to treat stomach motility. I've been admitted to the ER many times during flare-ups (severe nausea/vomiting/no sleeping/misery that would last for days), and as soon as I would get it through an IV, I would feel so good! So it's a miracle drug when it comes to treating nausea/vomiting. I took only 10mg because of the warnings and only took it at night and if I needed it (if I ate something that would not digest). It worked really well to manage gastroparesis. I started to function, gain weight, eat food. Then after 6 months, I woke up one day and my speech was slurred, and I was losing fine motor control, couldn't write or text, so I had to stop taking it."

For Nausea/Vomiting "They gave me Reglan in the ER for my nausea I was having due to my pregnancy. The nurse slowly pushed it into my IV and walked out. As soon as he closed that door, my body set into panic. I was extremely uncomfortable, I wanted to get out of my own skin. I felt like I was suffocating and started sweating from the panic, so I was hot and feeling like I was going into a bad anxiety attack. I had racing thoughts, and I thought I was going insane, but I didn’t know why. I have anxiety, but not that made me feel like that. After 5 minutes of realizing I couldn’t calm down on my own, I rang for my nurse, and she came in knowing exactly what was going on. I mean, I'm literally in here close to ripping this IV out of my arm, so I’ll take nausea over this feeling any day. Do not take this medicine if you don’t have to or have pre-existing anxiety. I know there aren’t many options for pregnant women, but this is a kind of torture I could live without."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have ulcers, and I have a lot of nausea associated with them. I take a 10 mg pill, and in most cases, break it in half, and the nausea is gone. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to kick in, but it works."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Let me tell you, these folks on here aren’t lying!!! It’s been 20 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday…. Didn’t even know they still allow this horrible medication! I was given this in an IV for nausea during pregnancy…. The only way I can describe this pain is like they wired my body up, plugged me into a socket, and I was getting electrocuted from the inside out! I cannot believe they give this medication out still to pregnant moms and their babies who can’t let them know how this feels. It’s truly chemical torture!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the emergency room for a kidney stone and was given a couple of medications in my IV. I told the nurse that I was becoming very nauseous and needed something to prevent myself from vomiting. She came back with a syringe and thought it was Zofran. The nurse began pushing the medication and said that she was administering Reglan. About 2 minutes later, my chest felt extremely tight, I couldn't stop moving my legs or hold still. I had an extreme urge to rip my IV out and run... and run... and run... I had a feeling of anxiety unlike anything I have ever felt before. It wasn't your typical 'butterflies', this was like I wanted to escape my skin or just end it all right there. I would much rather be dead than to feel the way Reglan felt."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the emergency room for hyperemesis gravidarum and dehydration. My doctor first gave me Zofran through my IV, it didn’t work. I was still throwing up. So, he gave me a dissolvable tablet of Zofran. Still throwing up. So next, he puts Reglan through my IV and says he’ll be back to check on me. I literally started going insane. My husband was in the room trying to keep me calm because I started twisting and turning in the bed and yelling. I was having a panic attack. Now I’m here reading these comments, and it makes sense. Lol. It did help with my nausea, and I ended up filling a prescription for it, but I’ll only take it if it’s absolutely necessary."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have sickle cell disease, so in addition to severe pain, I have bouts of nausea and vomiting. I was given Reglan in the ER; within 5 minutes, I felt extreme agitation, restlessness, dripping sweat, and shaking uncontrollably. I begged the nurse to tell the doctor I was having a reaction. She did, but with very little urgency, instead telling me to get back in the stretcher, but I couldn't due to sweating, shaking, and needing to pace. I was sent for a chest X-ray, but the tech sent me back, saying she was uncomfortable handling me in this state. I again pleaded with the nurse to call the doctor. He finally came, and I was given Benadryl to reverse the effects. I felt calmer, but it took a while for the shaking to stop. The nurse and doctor acted like I was crazy, smh."

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "Post-bariatric surgery, I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks with horrible nausea and vomiting. They added Reglan to my medicines, and after the first dose, I stopped feeling sick and was able to come home. This is the third week post-op, and I am taking it about 1 time per day in the syrup form (tastes awful!). It was my reflux that was causing the problem, and every other reflux medicine did nothing to touch it. I am so thankful to have this medication available."

For Gastroparesis "After Zofran and Phenergan stopped working, I was given Reglan 5 mg for my gastroparesis. At first, I was in love pretty much, I was able to eat things I haven't eaten in years. I took it for about 4 weeks, I had terrible mood swings, stomach cramps, insomnia, and extreme fatigue. But I wasn't worried about it, I was able to eat. I actually lost weight. Now, all of a sudden, it stopped working. I started getting severely bloated slowly, then the nausea started. I wish it still worked. Even after my doctor upped my dose to 10 mg, it still stopped."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER because it was about 11 pm, and I wasn’t keeping anything down. Usually, Zofran works for me, I’ve had it many times, but for some reason, it didn’t help this time. So they gave me Reglan. Within about 5-10 minutes, something was wrong. I’m lying down in the ER bed, and I started to feel fidgety. Moving around a little, and within a few minutes after it started, I felt like I was going crazy. Mind you, I was not feeling well. I had a fever and everything. But I couldn’t stop moving. I was pacing. I pushed my body into the walls. I had to keep moving. They gave me Benadryl, but it didn’t help. I was like this for about 14 hours. I’m very used to being sick because I was born with 5 congenital heart defects and 2 congenital lung defects, and I have many more health issues. I’ve had over 20 surgeries, many being open-heart surgeries. I’m used to not-so-great situations when it comes to health. But this was awful. I felt like I was going insane."

For Migraine "Amazing for me! I react poorly to pain medications in general, typically resulting in intense nausea. This medication, however, on multiple occasions, turned migraines so severe all I can do is scream and flail into pure nothing within 15 minutes. This seems almost a miracle for me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the hospital after the birth of my son. I was given Reglan after my tubal for nausea, and it almost was the end of me. I was highly allergic. There were two nurses in my room talking, and I couldn’t even communicate with them that something was wrong. I had my phone in my hand, and luckily my doctor had texted me earlier and was able to text 911 to her and send it right at that moment. She immediately contacted the nurse, and I was not breathing when the nurse turned around. So scary."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Side effects were - confused, disoriented, dizzy, unable to concentrate or remember what I meant to do next. Unable to remember words or communicate effectively. Eyes feel unfocused. Slight muscle twitches, dry mouth, and extreme drowsiness. Thank goodness I do not have to drive myself home from work! However, the nausea and vomiting has stopped."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan via IV injection in the ER because of nausea. When I tell you this is the worst drug I've ever taken, I mean it. As soon as it was injected, I felt like I was in a different world. I then threw up 15 times, and it is almost a week after taking it, and I am just now getting over the suicidal thoughts and depression. I still have nightmares and anxiety, but nothing like it was. I will never take this drug again, and neither will my children when I have them because I think this drug shouldn't be on the market."
