For Migraine "Caused immediate dystonic reaction, hallucinations, derealization, depersonalization, agoraphobia, monophobia, daily panic attacks, severe depression, akathisia, legs stopped working, muscle tremors, severe fatigue, chills, fainting, diarrhea, nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, acid reflux, shortness of breath, red burning skin, numbness in limbs, headache, restlessness, chest pain. Was given this drug via IV one-time dose! It has now been 6 months and I am still completely disabled, feels like I'm living in a dream, scared all of the time, can't eat, no joy, suffering for months on end. I’ve heard it can take a year or more to recover. Please join the Reglan Support Group on Facebook if you are suffering long-term effects from this med and don’t let doctors gaslight you! Keep in mind I have no history of mental illness and now have similar issues to TBI and severe panic disorder."

For Gastroparesis "This medication can be dangerous, but it works REALLY well. I used it to treat stomach motility. I've been admitted to the ER many times during flare-ups (severe nausea/vomiting/no sleeping/misery that would last for days), and as soon as I would get it through an IV, I would feel so good! So it's a miracle drug when it comes to treating nausea/vomiting. I took only 10mg because of the warnings and only took it at night and if I needed it (if I ate something that would not digest). It worked really well to manage gastroparesis. I started to function, gain weight, eat food. Then after 6 months, I woke up one day and my speech was slurred, and I was losing fine motor control, couldn't write or text, so I had to stop taking it."

For Gastroparesis "I live with a Type 1 diabetic who developed gastroparesis 3 years ago. Our GI put him on Reglan, he was highly anxious, angry, suffered from restless leg, and was still throwing up. On the Reglan, he puked a lot, or more, and here's the kicker: it made him throw up after taking him off of the drug. The primary care we had explained how Reglan can only be used for short periods of time, and although she took him off Reglan, also be aware that he was still gonna puke till he was weaned off of it. The erythromycin he was given only gave him diarrhea, and he was still puking. They need way more research for this because the 2 options you give to these people are garbage. He didn't want surgery, but he is not gonna have a choice, this disease can't be controlled yet, and watching him suffer is out of the question."

For Migraine "This was the worst medication reaction I've ever had and had no idea that this was possible! I am having a bad reaction from starting an SSRI for the first time and ended up in the ER vomiting and spinning and having been in a panic attack for about 8 hours (I thought that was bad too, just wait). The RN gave me straight Reglan in my arm and 30 seconds later I'm screaming at the top of my lungs, 'my legs my legs my legs!!!!' And the most terrifying feeling of 'I'm going to die' ensued. I wanted to run as fast as I could away. From myself or nothing. Basically, I was a star in one of those movies where you see someone being operated on in an alien spaceship and the person is awake and terrified. There were 3 security guards and 4 nurses in the room all looking at me while I had this crazy psychotic reaction. I've never felt more embarrassed and terrified at the same time! DO NOT RECOMMEND"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have sickle cell disease, so in addition to severe pain, I have bouts of nausea and vomiting. I was given Reglan in the ER; within 5 minutes, I felt extreme agitation, restlessness, dripping sweat, and shaking uncontrollably. I begged the nurse to tell the doctor I was having a reaction. She did, but with very little urgency, instead telling me to get back in the stretcher, but I couldn't due to sweating, shaking, and needing to pace. I was sent for a chest X-ray, but the tech sent me back, saying she was uncomfortable handling me in this state. I again pleaded with the nurse to call the doctor. He finally came, and I was given Benadryl to reverse the effects. I felt calmer, but it took a while for the shaking to stop. The nurse and doctor acted like I was crazy, smh."

For Migraine "Went to ER with a terrible migraine and vomiting. I was given the cocktail of Reglan and Benadryl. I have ended up having the worst reaction ever and scared to death. My heartbeat went to 140+, I had uncontrolled muscle movement, dizziness, had a feeling I was going to pass out, my limbs were shaking enormously, I couldn't produce words to explain what was happening either!"

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "Post-bariatric surgery, I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks with horrible nausea and vomiting. They added Reglan to my medicines, and after the first dose, I stopped feeling sick and was able to come home. This is the third week post-op, and I am taking it about 1 time per day in the syrup form (tastes awful!). It was my reflux that was causing the problem, and every other reflux medicine did nothing to touch it. I am so thankful to have this medication available."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the ER for a really bad stomach virus. They gave me Reglan trying to stop the vomiting. I felt like I was freezing. My boyfriend stacked 10 blankets on me. I felt something was terribly wrong, I ripped my IV out and started running out of the hospital. I thought I lost my mind. After they grabbed me and knocked me out with Benadryl, I slept for 24 hours. Stop giving this medicine!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Side effects were - confused, disoriented, dizzy, unable to concentrate or remember what I meant to do next. Unable to remember words or communicate effectively. Eyes feel unfocused. Slight muscle twitches, dry mouth, and extreme drowsiness. Thank goodness I do not have to drive myself home from work! However, the nausea and vomiting has stopped."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Reglan in the ER for dehydration caused by hyperemesis in pregnancy. Within a few minutes, I wanted to rip out my IV and run out of the hospital. I felt so exhausted but couldn’t control my body movements and just wanted to run away. It was terrifying. They gave me IV Benadryl soon after, and that helped a lot. The Reglan helped my nausea and vomiting so much. They gave me a script for home, but I will definitely be taking it with a dose of Benadryl. Hoping that’s enough to counteract these horrible side effects in the future. Be VERY CAREFUL with this medication. Make sure they have an order for Benadryl to use in case you have these side effects. And make sure the nurse pushes it very slowly if administering through an IV."

For Nausea/Vomiting "My husband has been a type 1 diabetic since age 7. He's suffered from stomach issues for the last 10 years. Our doctor started him on Reglan for gastroparesis, and it has made a drastic difference in our lives! He was vomiting for 3 days straight about every 3 weeks, almost like clockwork. He's lost so much weight. But Reglan has helped him tremendously. He's been on it for about a month."

For Migraine "I've been to the ER for migraines too many times to count and have been given every kind of drug that can be given. I woke up this morning with a horrific migraine and vomiting, and off I went. They gave me the Reglan/Benadryl combo, and within less than a minute, the pain was gone. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! I've never had anything work so well and so fast. I went home and slept for four hours afterwards. I'm so glad they decided to try this with me."

For Migraine "I went to the hospital for a migraine and vomiting. Within seconds of administering the IV of Reglan, I sat straight up, couldn't stop rocking back and forth, felt like I was losing my mind and wanted to run out of there until my legs fell off. I was begging for help. It really does feel like you are being tortured. I remember looking over at the clock, and it was 2:00 in the morning, thinking 'why didn't I just stay home and suck it up,' but at least now I know. I had a similar experience with Compazine (also used for nausea)."

For Migraine "I have chronic migraines and used to get either Dilaudid or Demerol with Phenergan and Toradol. Now, because I'm 'chronic,' the hospital will not give me narcs. They try and give me Reglan and Benadryl, which does nothing at all, yet they still won't give me anything for relief. I've told them over and over Reglan does nothing, but they don't listen. Because I have PO Dilaudid that I usually vomit up when the migraine is so bad, they tell me they'll give me Phenergan and go home and take Dilaudid, which won't work. I go to the ER for immediate relief, not to be treated like a dope seeker."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Last night, I was in the ER for nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Reglan was added after Zofran and meclizine didn’t totally resolve symptoms. Same as others, I experienced the worst agitation of my life. Screaming, thrashing, begging them to knock me unconscious. It was horrific. They gave me Ativan and Benadryl, eventually, I fell asleep. They said, oh, some people react this way. I can’t believe they continue to use a drug that does this."

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "Reglan is the only medication that has ever worked for me post-operatively. Phenergan gives me hallucinations, and Zomig doesn't work at all. Every other surgery I've ever had, I couldn't use the pain pump because I would vomit so severely or become so dizzy from the medication that they would give me for the vomiting that made me sick. This was a godsend for me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed Reglan during my first pregnancy for hyperemesis gravidarum, and now I have to get an allergy band every time I go for medical treatment. Within half an hour, I began to experience uncontrollable muscle spasms, and although I only took this medication once in the morning, the spasms did not completely go away for a full 12 hours. During this time, I felt extremely nervous - like I wanted to unzip my skin and run away. Reglan did absolutely nothing to curb my extreme nausea and vomiting. Thankfully, my baby was unaffected."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this drug Reglan while I was in labor. I was vomiting every 2-3 contractions and felt awful. Prior to receiving the medication, I was very calm and taking deep breaths through my contractions. Within minutes of receiving the IV Reglan, I had a HUGE anxiety attack and began flipping out, saying that I couldn’t do this anymore, just take the baby out. I was literally alligator rolling on the bed. I was in a full-blown panic attack. It took my husband and the nurse 10 minutes to calm me down, and I was still vomiting during contractions. The rest of my labor went fine, and I didn’t panic at any other point."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I had surgery on my nose and was given Reglan afterwards because of nausea. This was a terrible mistake. I immediately felt jittery and so restless, like I could run a marathon. Thankfully, I was still tired, so I fell asleep not long after. A few months later, I went to the ER after vomiting all night, and the nurse injected something into my IV without telling me exactly what it was, and I got the same feelings all over again. They had to give me something to reverse it, and this time I asked for the name of the drug so I can make sure it’s never given to me again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Have been on Reglan over 1 year. With Reglan, I am again able to participate in physical activity without vomiting and nausea afterwards. Last week, the doctor said we still don't know why when I get overheated or stressed, I vomit, get light-sensitive, nausea, etc. Put me on Zofran, blah, feel like rubbish with a constant headache now. What do I do."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I took this drug to combat hyperemesis. Very severe vomiting and nausea during my second pregnancy. My doctors refused to give me anything to treat hyperemesis during my first pregnancy, and they may have been right. I had such severe nausea and vomiting that I was sick all day, every day, and vomited at minimum 10 times a day. So when I went to the ER and was given IV fluids, Zofran, and a prescription for Reglan, I thought it was a cure. Little did I know the toll it would take on my mental health: racing thoughts. I tried stopping Reglan one month after beginning it and was okay for a few days, but the nausea came back with a vengeance. I started taking it again but just couldn’t shake the feeling of being unwell and depression. So I finally stopped taking it after about 4 months on the medication. It’s only been a few days, but I’m depressed and still not feeling 100 percent. There is no winning. If I don’t eat, I hurt my baby, and if I take this medicine, I have another hurt."

For Nausea/Vomiting "When I went to Myrtle Beach in July 2021, I had constant vomiting after eating an edible gummy and freaking out. I went to the hospital and continued to vomit and act funny, so the nurses gave me some water, then hooked me to an IV and gave me Reglan. It stopped my vomiting/queasiness, but I had the worst panic attack I ever had in my life. My heart began racing super fast, and my legs and arms and torso became insanely restless, like I needed to run around the world while throwing out my arms repeatedly. I screamed and cried hysterically. I ripped out my IV before I did that and even ripped my shirt. They injected me with Ativan, and I calmed down."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was hospitalized yesterday with kidney stones. Suffered from severe nausea/vomiting. After 3 doses of Zofran, which did nothing, they gave me Reglan via IV. It was a game changer. Worked wonders."

For Gastroparesis "I was diagnosed with gastroparesis back in May 2019 and was put on erythromycin first. I still had early satiety, vomiting, severe nausea, and lack of appetite, so my GI put me on Reglan. I take 5 mg Reglan, 3x daily before meals and as needed for nausea and vomiting. I alternate Zofran, Phenergan, and Reglan constantly throughout the day so I can keep my nausea under control and vomiting to a minimum. I've been on Reglan for about 6 months and haven't been hospitalized for malnutrition, dehydration, vomiting, or nausea since starting it. My GI hopes to eventually cut back on the amount of Reglan I take, but so far, I've gained weight, can eat most days, and am able to keep food down. If you're struggling with gastroparesis, I highly recommend Reglan. Oral and IV Reglan have saved my life and staved off any feeding tubes."
