For Gastroparesis "My doctor put me on 10 mg Reglan last week for suspected gastroparesis. I agree with others that the side effects definitely outweigh the potential benefits of this medicine. Within an hour of taking it, I become extremely drowsy/weak and wanting to go to sleep. I know that I would never be able to take this medicine before driving. Then last night, three hours after taking it, I began to hallucinate and was afraid to fall asleep. When I did fall asleep, I recall having weird dreams. So, I decided to stop taking Reglan."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This was given to me as an IV, and I felt restless and anxious. I had hallucinations and unbelievable depression and emotional pain. I thought I went crazy and had suicidal thoughts. I was depressed for a month after that. I couldn't tell you if it worked because I was too busy arguing with myself on whether I was crazy. I am one of those people who never thought suicide was an answer to anything, but this medicine made me believe it was the only answer."

For Migraine "Caused immediate dystonic reaction, hallucinations, derealization, depersonalization, agoraphobia, monophobia, daily panic attacks, severe depression, akathisia, legs stopped working, muscle tremors, severe fatigue, chills, fainting, diarrhea, nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, acid reflux, shortness of breath, red burning skin, numbness in limbs, headache, restlessness, chest pain. Was given this drug via IV one-time dose! It has now been 6 months and I am still completely disabled, feels like I'm living in a dream, scared all of the time, can't eat, no joy, suffering for months on end. I’ve heard it can take a year or more to recover. Please join the Reglan Support Group on Facebook if you are suffering long-term effects from this med and don’t let doctors gaslight you! Keep in mind I have no history of mental illness and now have similar issues to TBI and severe panic disorder."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan for a severe migraine episode and was never so scared in my life. I immediately began to almost hallucinate, and I couldn’t move, nor could I speak to explain what was going on. I had to have a CT scan, and they had to literally move me as my whole body felt numb. I finally was able to let them know what was happening, and they gave me a shot of Benadryl. This drug is a menace and should be taken off the market. I thought I was dying. It was a frightening, horrible experience. I made sure to put that in my allergies in my medical file, and I will NEVER again use that ever again. I still tremble when I think of that experience. I was actually traumatized by this."

For Migraine "I'm so glad I read these postings. I was admitted to the ER after a five-day migraine. I was given this medicine through an IV. It took about 45 hours to feel relief. It took my pain level from a 10 to a 4. However, the first 20 minutes I felt very restless suddenly, and I wanted to be out of the hospital. I was uncomfortable, and I wanted to rip the IV out of my arm. I was paranoid waiting for my boyfriend to come back from the restroom. I couldn't explain the feeling, but after reading the other posts, I see it was a similar experience and side effect to the other posters."

For Migraine "I suffer from hemiplegic migraines and had a very bad attack yesterday late morning. I went to the hospital where I was given an IV push of Benadryl, Toradol, and Reglan. As soon as she started the IV and walked out of the room, I had a horrible feeling come over my whole body. My legs felt like they were on fire, and I felt as if I was going crazy. I tried to relax and shake it off, but the feeling wouldn’t go away, and I became dizzy and almost delusional. I called my wife to tell her what was going on, and she told me to hit the call button, so I called the nurse back in and told her how I was feeling, and she said the Reglan has that effect on some people. She pushed Ativan to counteract it. It was a scary feeling."

For Migraine "Went into the ER for a migraine that was bothering me and had me leave school early. They didn’t explain much about the drug, but they gave it to me anyway with a combination of Benadryl. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. I was feeling anxious a few minutes after taking it, but I wasn’t expecting it to become the most horrifying and insufferable experience in my life. I felt like I was coming out of my skin and wanted to rip the IV out and the skin off my body. I had a panic attack that lasted a long time and couldn’t stop freaking out. I remember looking at the nurse and asking her, “What did you do to me?” as extreme paranoia and panic flooded through my mind. A doctor came by and offered Ativan to help. I couldn’t trust them and declined a few times, even though I am really into pharmacology and knew it would help, but my paranoia made me feel like they would give me something else and kill me. I ended up taking it, and it helped."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Just to make others aware, I also had very negative reactions to this medicine. I was given it before a lower back surgical procedure to prevent nausea. Within probably less than 2 minutes after having Reglan injected into an IV, I went from totally normal to hyperventilating and having extreme paranoia almost to the point of hallucinations. I became angry, threatening, and confrontational with everyone around me, including strangers, ripped out my IV tubing, and ran out of the hospital. It wore off about 30 minutes later, and I returned to the hospital and apologized profusely and continued with pre-surgery items. Nurses told me they see similar side effects of anxiety and people 'wanting to leave urgently,' but never as extreme as it was for me. I now list it as an allergy and would warn anyone to stay away from it."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan as part of a drug cocktail for migraine. Although Benadryl was part of the infusion, I still had horrible symptoms. First, I started to hallucinate. Then I fell asleep and began having nightmares of suffocation. The nurse woke me, and I still couldn’t orient myself and just kept saying, “help me” over and over, my whole body jerking and my arms especially spastic. I couldn’t stay awake and kept falling back, then immediately waking with my whole body jerking and my arms and legs flailing around so badly I couldn’t use the call button or even pick it up. They sent me home that way. It lasted about 4 hours. I was flailing so hard my husband could hardly get me into the car. I will have this added to drug allergies. This was one of the most horrible experiences of my life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Reglan to help with nausea from antibiotics and felt soon after taking it paranoia, anxiety, and like I wanted to die. This was totally uncharacteristic of me. I called the pharmacy and asked if this could be a side effect. She told me I may be having an allergic reaction and to take some Benadryl and call 911. I took the Benadryl and fell asleep. I didn't call 911. When I woke up, I was fine and back to normal. Have never taken Reglan again."

For Migraine "I’ve had migraines for over 30 years. It took a few ER visits for me to realize that Reglan took away my nausea, took the edge off my pain (never completely took it away), but made me paranoid and anxious!!!!! I tell them I’m allergic because I will never take it again. Toradol is great! The injection burns, but the migraine relief begins in less than 10 minutes. Pain is gone in 20 minutes. I ask for it by name!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "Reglan is the only medication that has ever worked for me post-operatively. Phenergan gives me hallucinations, and Zomig doesn't work at all. Every other surgery I've ever had, I couldn't use the pain pump because I would vomit so severely or become so dizzy from the medication that they would give me for the vomiting that made me sick. This was a godsend for me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Awful, I took metoclopramide for a migraine headache causing me to be extremely nauseous. I was on it for 2 days. I had hallucinations, tremors, the shakes, blurred vision, was seeing things, was unable to finish my sentences, and couldn't make words with speech, mania, swelling, numbness, hands are still too shaky to text and have any strength. This medication should be discontinued, it's that bad."

For Migraine "PLEASE do NOT take Reglan. I am posting this experience from over 4 years ago from my reaction to Reglan. That’s how impactful my reaction was to me. I suffer from migraines, and I go to the ER whenever it’s really bad. I happened to go to a new hospital one night because I was out of town when a migraine hit me. They gave me some sort of migraine cocktail but with Reglan (which I’ve never had before). As soon as it was pushed through the IV, I IMMEDIATELY started coughing uncontrollably, felt a cold rush going down my throat, and extreme weight on my chest. I then began to hallucinate while looking around the room, I felt like I was going insane. When I looked at the door in front of me, all I could see were swirls just everywhere, I can’t even explain what I was seeing. My whole body started to shake uncontrollably, only letting up for a few seconds before starting again. I then had extreme memory loss when asked simple questions from the techs!! I am scarred for life."

For Migraine "I was in the ER for severe migraine/vertigo, and I was scared to take any sedatives because I am so sensitive, including to Benadryl. Unluckily, I got the doctor who treated me like garbage and was so impatient; he wouldn't even let me explain myself. He was just asking what I wanted... So he suggested Reglan instead of Benadryl. Two minutes after, I was becoming frantic; I had to pee and was ready to rip the IV out. Then the nurse tells me the doc wants me to do a urine test. Haha. I started tripping out, worst hallucinations/panic attack. I felt like I was coming in and out of reality/blackout every two seconds. I finally fell asleep and overheard the doctor wanted to wake me up to do a psychiatric evaluation due to my reaction."

For Gastroparesis "I am a female in my mid-20s. I was given Reglan for issues related to previous abdominal surgery and gastroparesis. I only took it for about 2 days before I stopped. I felt extremely restless and couldn't stop sleeping, but also was never comfortable enough to fully fall asleep. I also felt like I was in a psychotic episode that was never going to end. I was extremely irritated/agitated, very depressed, and having suicidal thoughts. I thought I needed to quit my job and couldn't have a conversation with anyone. I know my doctor had no way of knowing how I would react to Reglan, and some people do well, but I think this is way too risky to be handing out."
