Meperidine for Pain "I had migraines from the time I was 18 years old. I would have to go to the doctor's office to get a shot as I had to work. About 1984, my doctor gave me the 50 mg Meperidine tabs. I controlled my migraines by using half a pill when needed. Most times, a month's prescription lasted me four to six months. I never got dizzy or anything when taking it. I did use Phenergan for nausea. I am allergic to morphine, codeine, Imitrex, and a variety of other meds, including antibiotics. Allergies occurred in hospitals. My neurologist has no problem prescribing it for me, but I can't find any place to fill it, so for six months, I have had to put up with horrible headaches. The VA pharmacy has it, but my neurologist isn't in the Optum system for prescriptions, only the medical part, so they won't fill it. The latest VA gave me Topamax. It doesn't help, it only messes my INR up for my warfarin. Even my PA has stated I don't abuse drugs. But she can't prescribe it, and the doctor won't. Demerol is the only pain med I have not had a reaction to. Now what?"

Meperidine for Pain "I am allergic to morphine, and that is how I ended up taking Demerol. I was born with Sickle Cell Anemia disease. This causes me to experience extremely painful episodes in my joints, which are crippling at times and can last for one to two months. Enough about me, can someone just please tell us why they would discontinue the most helpful and healing medication ever invented."

For Pain "Good news! Yesterday, I was able to find a local pharmacy that was able to obtain liquid meperidine to replace my 50 mg tablets that had been discontinued. 1 tsp of the liquid equals 50 mg. My doctor was more than happy to write a prescription for it. My pharmacist told me that they supply it to a children’s hospital, so you might want to look for a pharmacy that does the same if you have difficulty finding it. My research indicates that the liquid might have been discontinued also, but my pharmacist says he is still able to get it for now. Good luck on your search. P.S. Like many of you, I am allergic to all other opioids except for meperidine, so this was a big find for me."

For Pain "Meperidine is literally the only thing I can take and get pain relief. After many years, I had to just stop taking it because I couldn't get it, and to my surprise, they weren't making it anymore. How is this possible for patients to just stop and now have nothing? What a dangerous situation this has caused for all patients. Bring it back or tell us where to get it. I beg you. I'm allergic to so much. Even had gene DNA testing to show what drugs would be effective and which would be harmful. Demerol was the number 1 on the I-can-take list. No relief for me. My MS or other conditions I suffer with pain every day now!"

For Pain "I took Demerol for over five years for chronic back and shoulder pain. I have had seven shoulder surgeries and two back surgeries. I tried all pain meds and had terrible reactions. When this was suddenly unavailable, I had no withdrawal symptoms at all. Had to start over finding a new BT med. Found that Percocet didn’t make me sick and works okay. Also have fentanyl patch for years. They need to bring this back. It works for so many."

For Pain "I have CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), nerve palsy, compressed ulnar nerve bilateral, two torn shoulders, and other associated nerve issues. Had several surgeries, and nothing has helped the pain, just gave me more and more pills that didn't work or I was allergic to them. The pain management clinic I was going to, since this all happened, did their best to help me without giving me the one pill I knew would work and I wasn't allergic to, Demerol. (I now know it as other names.) I finally got on the appropriate dose, and my daily pain levels went from 9-12 to 4-5. Not perfect, but I was more than happy. I could do things again. I can live with 4s and 5s pain levels. I rate meperidine, Demerol, etc. the best pain medication out there. Please bring it back! What I would like to say is that Demerol, meperidine, etc. is the best drug out there for not just me, but for many more."

Meperidine for Pain "I am a rare breed of a human being! I have so many allergic reactions to medication, most antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication, and even worse, most pain medication. This medication I can take. I have several chronic conditions: RSD/CRPS, fibromyalgia, trigeminal neuralgia, migraines, anxiety, and insomnia. I take several different medications. I go to a pain management clinic. I have recently had to change my pain medication. Only the other one they have found I can take. They changed because my pharmacist can no longer get Demerol 50 mg tablets. It kept my pain under control. I want it back. The trigeminal neuralgia has been worse ever since I started the new stuff! Please help me to get relief with Demerol or Meperidine. Where can I get it!"
