For Bipolar Disorder "Dr. decided to try Latuda. The side effects completely outweighed the benefits for me. For a while, I was able to tolerate the headaches and nausea and enjoyed the mood improvement. I was actually able to feel true happiness in happy situations. But it also affected my menstrual cycle to where I was experiencing a full week of cramps (not normal for me) and was 2 weeks late (also not normal for me). Then the nausea just became vomiting every time I took the pill. So I stopped it. I really wished it would work because I liked the happiness I experienced and no mania."

For Schizophrenia "I was put on Latuda by my doc along with my Geodon. Couldn't eat anything, or I threw up everything, including my other meds. I got extremely psychotic, so once off it, I felt a whole lot better with a small amount of Seroquel added instead."

For Bipolar Disorder "I am on 20 mg of Latuda and 1,200 mg of lithium and 300 mg of bupropion. I just started taking the Latuda about 2 weeks ago, yesterday was the first time I noticed any real side effects. I was at work when the nausea and vomiting started. Shortly after, I noticed my left leg was stiff and hurt. As the day went on, the pain only got worse. As for my bipolar, I am happier than ever. I usually would drink at gatherings, but I noticed I don't even want to drink. I hope I can get past the side effects, this is the first time in 10 years I found something that works."

For Bipolar Disorder "I’m late diagnosed bipolar (at 46) and recently diagnosed BPD (at 49). Been on Wellbutrin for about 3 years, but because my BPD was so bad this year, the new doctor suggested Latuda because I won’t take Seroquel. Four weeks in, I’m not impressed… I feel the negative effects don’t make up for the positive ones. Pros: I don’t get upset, I have crocheted more (because I feel bleh). Cons: I don’t get happy, I lost my libido, it puts me to sleep at 40 mg… I don’t even get satisfaction from cuddling, touching my husband… almost repulses me. I haven’t gotten off the couch to do anything since taking it, it makes me violently puke if not taken at the right time after eating a ton, and it makes me sleepy so I have to wait until night to eat… Everyone is different, but I’m seeing a lot of flat effect on people. To me, I need some emotions…"

For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed with rapid cycling bipolar disorder and began taking Latuda (20 mg for 5 days, 40 mg for 4 days, then 60 mg once daily). About a week after I had gotten to the 60 mg dose, I developed a generalized, itchy rash (most prominent on my forehead, upper back, and arms), so my doctor and I agreed to discontinue the medication as it was most likely an allergic reaction to the medication. I do feel that, in the short time I was on it, Latuda did help control my mania/hypomania, but I didn’t feel it helped with the depressive episodes. I did experience nausea/vomiting once when I took the 40 mg dose on an empty stomach, and I also noticed eyelid twitching while on the 60 mg dose. I did find it a bit difficult to take the medication with at least 350 calories worth of food because I’ve been dealing with a loss of appetite due to the depression. The medication also made me extremely drowsy, so I preferred to take it right before bedtime."

For Schizophrenia "Latuda is a mental lifesaver for me and my schizophrenia! It got rid of auditory hallucinations in 4 days, no joke. Nausea and vomiting side effects."

For Bipolar Disorder "My doctor tried switching me from Zyprexa to Latuda due to concern about weight gain, diabetes, and cholesterol. My psychiatrist thought that the side effects from Latuda would not be as bad. For the first three days, it was wonderful, I felt fine. After the second week of taking 20 mg, I had started throwing up violently and had diarrhea at the same time. The vomit was green bile in color. After that, my doctor took me off it, I still continued vomiting for another week. I had to go on a soft diet and still had stomach pain. I underwent an endoscopy, and several small ulcers and erosion were found in my stomach. My gastroenterologist believed that this may have been caused by the Latuda, as I did not have this problem before. To top it off, it's very expensive, even with insurance. I would not recommend."
