Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta is one of many antipsychotics I have tried, but it's the only one that makes me feel like a normal person. I have been taking Caplyta for about 1.5 years, and it has been wonderful. I really don't remember any major side effects when I first started taking it, but I'm absolutely miserable if I miss a dose. I feel on edge/unstable, and I am literally unable to sleep. I'm currently feeling those effects because my pharmacy screwed up, and I had to go without it until they received the medication to fill my prescription. But I love Caplyta! If your insurance won't cover it, the manufacturer has a discount card!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "This medication has saved me!!! I have suffered so long with horrible mood swings, mania, and depression. I have tried lots of things, but I went to a new psychiatrist and she started me on Vraylar, which gave me terrible anxiety and wouldn’t stop, then she switched me to this. I read lots of bad reviews about it, but I took it anyway because I know everyone’s different. I take this, along with Wellbutrin & Vyvanse, and honestly, it’s great because I can sleep at night, everyone tells me how much happier and alert I seem. I’m actually motivated now! I think it’s a combo of all 3 meds but I know this one definitely made a world of difference for me! I say ignore these bad reviews and give it a try, my husband said this med saved my life!!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "When I first started taking Caplyta, it was good. No side effects or anything. My head wasn't racing, and my mind was clear. I was a happy girl. However, the longer I've been taking it, I've seen hives and I've been lightheaded a lot more. A lot of the side effects were coming into play. But the overall experience with Caplyta is awesome. It makes my moods much nicer, and my thoughts are happier. Life is a lot better with Caplyta, because without Caplyta, I would probably be divorced now. My friends and family wouldn't be around me if I was off this medicine. Even my boss says so."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I have been taking Caplyta since April. I take it with zoloft. I used to take Latuda before I switched to Caplyta bc I kept gaining a lot of weight. On Latuda I was always hungry. Now on Caplyta I almost never feel the need to eat. But I've noticed when I don't eat for several hours I'm insanely irritable and I get manic. That's when I realize that I am not only hungry, but starving. I just can't really tell when I'm hungry anymore. I just woke up out of a really deep sleep. I was almost paralyzed with exhaustion even tho I got enough hours of sleep and I was shaking all over snd my head is moving 100 miles a minute bc I haven't eaten in over 12 hours. Is this normal?"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I have BP2 with severe or suicidal depressions. The combo of Caplyta and lamotrigine has held my mood rock steady, as if I wasn't BP anymore. Lithium never worked this well. Latuda worked, but it had side effects that Caplyta doesn't have for me. 1st generation antipsychotics never helped me much. My only side effect is dry mouth."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I am currently taking the 42mg of Caplyta and they make me extremely sleepy. I slept 20 hours the first day. A week later already and still sleeping too much, 12-16 hours, and when awake, a feeling of confusion and sleepiness to the point where I can’t even drive. Overall, the sedation is too much. I will try the lowest dose (since I only weigh 114 lbs at 5’ 7”) and see if it will improve that problem."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta has been great! I’ve had no major side effects and I’m sleeping well! It’s not as sedating as Seroquel, which is nice, and I don’t feel groggy the next day. I get restless legs for no more than an hour about 2-3 hours after taking it. I have noticed a big improvement in my mood, and I’m a lot more hygienic than I was before. I highly recommend you try it! Very expensive ($1500/mo), but with the coupon it’s $15!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "Today was my first day taking caplyta. I ended up in the hospital due to the side effects. I had muscle weekness. I was extremely tired and felt like my head was in a fog. I had a chronic migraine that your over the counter medication wouldn't treat. My blood sugar dropped into the 50s. My average blood pressure was 77/55. I fell once at home and twice in the hospital!!! I will not be taking this again!!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta is an amazing medication for me! I have largely treatment resistant Bipolar II depression for 25 years. Caplyta is the BEST antipsychotic used for bipolar disorder that I have ever been prescribed. Only one side effect (stomach upset and diarrhea) the first 3-4 days. I noticed a difference in myself after about 10 days of taking Caplyta. Negative obsessive thoughts, bleak outlook, listlessness and motivation/energy were the symptoms helped the most. I am living a fuller life filled with hope and motivation. Again, amazing med!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Its been about 2 weeks since I started taking Caplyta and so far I've only noticed the side effects and not so much of any drastic change in depression. Maybe a little more clear-headed and calm but It still needs more time to work. The side effects I've noticed seem weird and uncommon compared to other reviews. It definitely puts me to sleep, so I take it at night. I've noticed the palms of my hands are super red, but I'm not hot at all. Also, my acid reflux came back, frequent urination, the occasional headache, and my hair is shedding a lot/falling out :/ (assuming it's the medication). On the bright side, I'm losing a lot of weight, have no changes in libido, (thank God), and have no feelings of suicide, which most other meds cause for me. Going to keep taking it as I hear the side effects should be going away soon. * Will be taking vitamins for my hair though"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I've been on Caplyta for about 5 weeks now. I've been through seven different medications in the past year and a half that have caused severe side effects including suicidal thoughts and uncontrollable jaw movements. Caplyta is the first medication that has worked for me with only minor side effects. I get minor headaches, dry mouth, and I have to pee a lot but I can deal with it. My house is clean for the first time in years, I can feel happiness for the first time in years, and I have hope for the first time in years. I don't seem to need Klonopin anymore which is a major plus!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I was started on Caplyta 42mg which literally knocked me out and into the ER. The side effects ended after about 8 hours. I didn't take anymore but surprisingly I felt better ( I was in a BAD depression). When I went back to the doctor I asked him to reduce the dosage to 10.5mg which he did. I made sure I was in bed and did not have to get up before I took it (which I highly recommend doing). A few days later I upped the dose to 21mg which is working great. I feel better than I have felt in over 5 years. I was at a crossroads: death or change. The Caplyta was the change I needed. I am 3x as active as I was before, kinda hypomanic, but feel wonderful. The side effects I have are a stuffy nose one hour after taking (I use sinus spray for that), lightheadedness within 30 minutes I need to go to bed, my blood pressure drops about 20 points systolic and diastolic, I occasionally have trouble swallowing when I try to make myself swallow. No weight gain."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I started Caplyta 42 mg and everything was fine at first. After a month, I started having severe anxiety and could not function. My body temperature could not be regulated, and I had to pee all the time. I felt groggy and weak every morning too. This continued from August until October. When a severe depressive episode began, I finally had to get off this drug. My psychiatrist put me back on Abilify."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Caplyta for three months now and it has been life changing for me. I switched from Invega, which for me was ineffective and had a huge array of side effects, and the day my psychiatrist made the switch, I felt so much better! It took a couple weeks for the psychotic symptoms and to actually fully stop but I instantly had my energy back and I could participate in life. The biggest thing for me was that I had been on various antipsychotics for three years with little success but Caplyta has hugely improved my quality of life! It has some side effects, I can’t take it with dinner because it makes me very drowsy about an hour after I take it and I have to go to bed and the first night I took it, I had the sensation of a bad sunburn on my arms and legs but this for me went away after the initial use. For me it’s been incredible but I know it’s not right for everyone"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I was nervous taking this after reading of the possible side effects. The day after my first dose, I had a horrible headache all the next day, but no symptoms continued after that. Day 3 and I’m already feeling better! Depression has been horrible this past year. But now I have a will to live again! Would recommend trying it for bipolar depression."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "I'm terrible at taking my medications regularly, Caplyta has been no exception. I take 1 at night and sleep like a baby for about 8 to 10 hours. I get no negative side effects at all. They are expensive, but if they work with no negative effects, to me that's priceless. I take it erratically, but it has boosted my mood a little, probably due to more sleep. It's also calmed me a little, I'm less moody, and have fewer mood swings. I'm slower to react, and I even think before I speak on occasion. The pills are easy to swallow, and it takes about 30 minutes to kick in."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "After having horrible nausea with Lithium, my doctor switched me to caplyta. I felt my highs and lows to be less dramatic. My biggest issue was the extremely dry mouth, but besides that for me, I didn't have huge issues with the other known side effects."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "My experience with Caplyta has been terrible. I was on Latuda for years and my doctor thought I should try Caplyta because of the wonderful reviews she had been getting about the drug. I have had breakthrough psychosis on and off now for about three months. I never had breakthrough psychosis with Latuda. I think for me Latuda is the drug that help that will help me the most. I've also been Prescribed Viibryd for anxiety. I do not like Viibryd either as it causes me very restless nights being unable to sleep."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "It was the worst experience of my life. Ended up in the E.R. because I needed something quick to reverse the side affects. My eyes won't stop blinking and my body has random twitches. Its been over 24 hours and it's still happening. Now I'm afraid its permanent damage. I took it for only ONE DAY"

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Schizophrenia "I am taking Caplyta for Schizoaffective disorder + bipolar. I took the 42mg daily dose for a month. This drug is designed for no tapering. Reading other reviews I was prepared for 1 to 3 days of headache initially and a niacin-like flushing that made me feel feverish. I was not prepared for my IBD symptoms to worsen. Food I ate would go through me not fully digested. I had diarrhea constantly. Now that I take Latuda I am regular and no diarrhea. As far as ameliorating paranoia, I still felt fearful occasionally."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "The first day I took it, my body went into complete shock. I was so scared, I panicked to the point I couldn’t feel my heart beating. I called 911 and an ambulance came. They helped me get back to a normal state and reassured me that the medication was doing its job and I would feel better soon. They were right. The next day, I felt amazing. My thoughts were clear and not racing. I didn’t feel manic or depressed. I could stop and recognize my emotions. I was able to make sound decisions. I felt like a whole new person. If Latuda didn’t work for you, or you don’t do well on generic brand meds, I would try Caplyta. 10/10 recommend."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "i was put on this for Schizoaffective, manic-depess, borderline person. It changed my whole life. I was able to communicate fully in the first time after 59 years and 5 months. I just turned 60 years old. Yes I communicated before but extremely poorly. I had a 4 yr degree in Business Admin. & 2 yr. Fashion Merchandising. I couldn't keep a job been being molested at 2, the violence going on in the home from Dad beating my Mom for 25 years. His second wife,-seeing her in hospital hospital with broken ribs, black eye, and broken toe. I saw no adult on my side growing up. My family are all abusers except my step brother Glenn & his wife Becky. They have always been kind to me even though I don't think they have any idea what they have done to me. With the other antiphychoics they didn't help that much and I was drugged out and didn't get that much done. Most of the time I just slept the day away and up about 3 or 4 took a shower and got together with my friend. That was it. I don't require that much sleep. I need 4 meds not 9 meds. I sleep about 6 hours."

Caplyta (lumateperone) for Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta comes in 20 mg pills. I agree with all of the above reviews that my initial experience with the drug replicated the feeling of super icy or extremely hot sensitivity. I talked to my psychiatrist about this and he recommended opening up the capsule and taking a micro dose of the pill on my tongue -- or putting in apple sauce. That cuts down on those side effects. It works really well as an anti-depressant for bipolar and is one of the few drugs on the market that does that. And just as a side note, if you have bipolar depression, you shouldn't be taking anything in the serotonin class, because bipolar depression has nothing to do with dysregulation of serotonin. It will only make you more dysregulated over time. Caplyta is a D1, D2, and D4 antagonist, all of which have been shown to be implicated in bipolar depression."
