"This medicine is powerful. It does stop panic attacks, however, it can leave you drowsy and with difficulty concentrating. It's still a tremendous help with my symptoms, but as I was a programming student in college, my ability to concentrate was still compromised. If you need quick relief from panic attacks, this likely is your medication, but depending on what you do, you may want to look at SSRIs instead (though they take longer to take effect)."

"I have been having these episodes of panic since '19; after a breakup with my baby's father, I woke up one day, couldn't breathe and went to the hospital. Thought I was dying or having a heart attack. They didn't know what was wrong with me after all kinds of tests. I was going back and forth five times a day; finally, they figured I had an anxiety disorder/panic attacks! I have taken biofeedback, relaxation techniques, therapy, and medications until I found out that Ativan 3 x 1 mg/day or I will be a regular in the E.R. Xanax works, but not as long or as well."

"I take 2 mg on occasion for sleep. I try to go no more than two 2 mg pills a week. For severe anger and panic attacks, I will take 2 mg. I really try not to take them every time I have an emotion because some are normal. Everyone is different and responds differently and needs to be tailored to their life. Personally, I would rather not take them, but realize I have to. Side effects are feeling a little fatigued and down, but that's the only side effect for me. So I'm very careful with using them."

"I'm a young man, 24 years old. I have several issues with my brain since many years ago. I have Major Depression, GAD, SAD, OCD, and Panic Disorder. I've tried many options, I tried Hypnotherapy, Emotional Therapy, CBT. Also, I have been to some psychiatrists in Indonesia and Singapore. Finally, I met the best psychiatrist in my country, and with him, I found the best medication and finally cured my problem. You all have to try this too and talk to your psychiatrist to ask for a prescription. Every morning I take 1 mg Ativan and every night I take 5 mg Zyprexa and 150 mg Zoloft. Please try this, please. Enjoy your life. Also, CBT is good as well."

"Currently taking 2-2.5 mg every 5 hours. A little higher than prescribed. I'm still anxious, but not at a crisis level. I feel sleepy, but not so much that I can't function. This medication is inexpensive and definitely worth the try. I'm waiting to see if it gets more helpful as time goes by."

"I have severe panic disorder, agoraphobia, IBS-D, and damage to my nervous system due to trauma. I have been given Ativan for numerous procedures, which I wasn't sure what it was, but I knew for the 24 hours after I felt normal. Not groggy, not post-operative blues, nothing just... normal. After over a year of trying a million different things to manage my conditions, I asked my doctor in his office what he puts in my IV because that is magic. He gave me the rundown on how Ativan can be addicting and how my procedures I get 2 mg and he was going to start me on .5 as needed. In the last month, I've taken a half of a .5 mg tablet as needed, and let me tell you, life has been much more bearable. Unfortunately, Ativan is supposed to be a short-term solution and my problems are very much chronic. I haven't ever experienced more than a slight groggy feeling once. Anyway, if you feel as hopeless as I did, this doesn't hurt to try. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me."

"I took this medication because I was having panic attacks. I had no drowsiness and no side effects. This medication didn't make me apathetic or sedated; it simply took the panic away so I could think and get my work done. It saved me. After the panic attacks stopped, I was still suffering from anxiety (a new condition for me), and the Ativan didn't help that, so my doctor switched me to Klonopin, which worked great for day-long anxiety, while I also tapered up on Zoloft. Still waiting to figure out if the Zoloft works."

"I started to take Ativan for severe panic attacks. It did calm me down, but left me extremely tired in the daytime. I was so tired that I was not able to function well at work. It was helpful at night, though. Also, I was told that I could not take this medication for long-term use. Eventually, I switched to Celexa and got relief that allowed me to not feel as tired."

"Great for stopping my severe panic attacks. I usually only take 1/2 of a tablet (1 mg) and dissolve it under my tongue. When a full tablet is required, it does make my face feel hot. I also feel slow. Writing this review on a full tablet. Difficult but better than freaking out!"

"I’m not sure if my panic is just too horrible, but I’ve tried 0.5, 1, and 1.5 mg, and they all do nothing for me. I might try 2 mg next time I have to go out (I have agoraphobia). I know it works for so many people, and I really want it to work for me because I’m scared to try anything else :( Mine are sublingual tablets."

"I have used this for about a year now. I used to be on a high dose of Xanax for several years, but my new doctor didn't agree with that, so here I am on Ativan. I don't feel as if it helps with anxiety that well. It takes a high dose for me when I have panic attacks. Most definitely not used for sleep."

"I have very severe anxiety and panic attacks 24/7. It never goes away, and I’m too scared to take antidepressants. I also have a phobia of vomiting, fainting, and having a panic attack, haha. I also have 24/7 dizziness. I’ve only ever taken 0.5 mg of Ativan (under tongue) a few times when I was having a panic attack or when I had to go to the dentist. It made me feel almost more anxious when I left my dentist appointment, and I thought I was going to have a panic attack. That was a little over an hour after taking it. The other times I took it, it worked and didn’t peak my panic attack, but made me feel groggy and more anxious when it wore off. For me, any benzo is a hit or miss, and I never know if it’s going to work this time or not."

"I'm consuming this drug on prescription for the last 3 years after switching too many medicines. This drug suits me well. The only cons are its effects and calming me from my panic attacks between half an hour to 2 hours sometimes. I take two pills on rough nights, and the result the next morning is a severe headache and a very dry throat until I take a shower and eat something. Later in the day, it fades away."

"I've had panic disorder for six years, and when I finally convinced my doctor that there was something wrong with me and got a prescription, I was really hopeful! The first time I used it, it worked relatively well. However, I woke up nauseous and groggy, and since nausea is my trigger, I decided that I'd only take it if it was ABSOLUTELY necessary. After two months of going without it, I found myself in one of the worst series of panic attacks I've gone through while not at home. My prescribed dosage didn't do anything, I was taking a high dose, and it didn't do anything. At that point, I stopped and rode it out for another four hours. When I woke up the next morning, feeling the same groggy and nauseous feeling I'd had last time, but worse. Not sure if that was the residue of the panic or not? The same thing happened a week ago, and again it didn't work, but still left me feeling gross the next day. Maybe it just doesn't work for me?"

"I have tried just about every benzo for chronic anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, and panic attacks. Klonopin 0.5 mg 3x a day made me depressed and sleepy, and made me want to take extra. Valium 10 mg 3x a day worked great but resulted in excess daytime sedation and far too much muscle relaxation. Xanax was perfect, except for the rebound anxiety, the potency, and the extremely short duration of action. My Dr. suggested Ativan. I agreed and switched to 1 mg 3x a day, then 0.5 mg 3x daily. I found Ativan the least addicting of the benzodiazepines I’ve tried, although it’s supposedly very addictive. I also thought it was relatively easy to come off of, at least compared to Klonopin or Xanax! Finally, it has the lowest number of side effects relative to the main effect. Ativan doesn’t make me drowsy but does get rid of my anxiety. And 0.5 mg is enough for a bad flare-up of anxiety, 1 mg enough for a panic attack."

"I found most of the benzodiazepines effective against panic disorder. However, Ativan had a very strong amnesia-inducing effect that caused me problems. While they all had amnesia effects at various dosages, Ativan really messed with my memory at therapeutic doses of 1-3 mg a day. I frequently found I had done bizarre things on Ativan. I found my car in a neighbor's garage, for example, but had woken up in my own house. It’s a bit comical now, but could have been tragic. I had much more stable results with Klonopin."

"This drug is amazing. I never foresaw myself taking any psychiatric drugs until I came to a truly terrible time in my life when I really did need them. Panic that would have me in tears from the fear, surroundings, and people feeling completely alien. This drug melts away the fear in 20 minutes. It is a godsend in those moments of panic. Don't be scared to try it even if you are wary of psych meds. Be careful, though, it can be addictive, and that's something you don't want to get into."

"I have lived with panic disorder since I was 16 and have had experience with various benzodiazepines. This has got to be the worst drug I have ever taken for a panic attack, it made me feel even more disconnected and stupid. I ended up in the back of an ambulance after taking this drug for a panic attack. I also struggled to sleep after taking this medication and was having suicidal thoughts. So far, I would have to say when it comes to the elimination of a panic attack, it goes: Xanax > Clonazepam > CBD > Valium > Bromazepam > Ativan."

"I was prescribed Ativan sublingual 0.5 mg as needed for panic attacks. It did not do anything for me, usually, my panic attacks come at night while I'm sleeping. So I tried it, and honestly, it didn't do anything, and on top of that, I couldn't sleep after taking it."

"Ostensibly prescribed for Meniere's and vertigo, it had a huge impact on my panic episodes and anxiety, only slightly less effective than Xanax, but slightly longer lasting. Also, was a smooth, warm feeling taking it. The downside after a month's use, after a week of nothing, the nausea and vomiting kicked in heavy, so I shy away from this one... That time delay of withdrawal was awkward in public places. Still, if I were to ask for an adjuvant, I'd pick Ativan over the more powerful Xanax."
