Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "Honestly, it worked really well for me and even helped take away some of my anxiety (stopped racing thoughts), but I started off at a way too high dose and had trouble with insomnia and some dry mouth. But I felt the effects after about an hour, and it really does last all day."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I've been on Vyvanse for a year. I take 50 mg now and I wouldn't say it's a miracle drug, but over the past year I have attended more classes and gotten more consistent grades in university. I definitely have to put in the effort to experience the benefits; it's not motivation/focus-in-a-pill for me! The side effects I've experienced are increased anxiety, dry mouth, increased perfectionism, irritability, and some insomnia. Its impact on my mood varies. At first, my appetite decreased and I had terrible afternoon crashes, but they have leveled out over time. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons for me. I haven't tried anything except for Wellbutrin, which I still take. Not sure how they interact."

For ADHD "Lisdexamfetamine was originally prescribed to me for chronic and severely debilitating brain fog and focusing issues. I was prescribed 30mg at 5'11 180lbs+, mid-20s. Side effects: Deep heart rate, waking up with atrial fibrillation following an episode of sleep apnea, increased fidgeting, insomnia, increased extraversion, high heart rate, dry mouth, dry skin, rapid and extreme global hair thinning, euphoria for initial ~4-week period. How it helped: (all following changes psychologically occurred while taking med AND post-withdrawal from med) Cleared brain fog, cleared suicidal depression, increased focus, increased extroversion, decreased anxiety, and more. Ease of use: SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH HIGH PROTEIN, can be mixed (not dissolved) into water for an even smoother release, convenient capsule form."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I found this medication very effective. I am able to stay on task without changing my mood, speak clearer without getting tongue-tied, and I do eat smaller portions than I usually do. I've only lost 5 lbs, the max within two years, and the only side effect I have is occasional dry mouth. It's best to stay hydrated and eat a snack in between meals while on this medication to reduce the dry mouth, it works for me."

For Narcolepsy "I was terrified to start Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) because of my awful experiences with other stimulants; I had extreme anxiety that lasted for several weeks on 6 days of Adderall XR 5 mg, and Concerta XR made me even more drowsy. Amphetamines metabolize too slowly, and methylphenidates don't work correctly, according to a genetic test I took. Though Vyvanse is in the amphetamine class, the fact that it's a pro-drug (meaning it's inactive until the body converts it to amphetamine), my body doesn't seem to hang onto it like it did with Adderall. Combined with modafinil 200 mg and a coffee a day, it works very well with keeping me awake and weirdly has actually reduced my anxiety. If you took a genetic test and it showed up with having problems metabolizing amphetamines too slowly and causing problems, you might do better on Vyvanse instead. Side effects for me are dry mouth and cold toes/fingers, and my deductible makes it $240 after a $60 off Vyvanse coupon, but it's worth it in my opinion."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I've been taking this med since it first came out. I believe it was 2008. But I was diagnosed when I was like 6. Nothing works: Adderall, Ritalin, nothing. Either I'm a waking zombie or wired off the walls. No happy medium. Then when I was in high school, I tried again, this time with Vyvanse. Started at 30s, then 50s, then 60s, and finally 80s. 30 worked well, soon to grow a tolerance and stopped working after a month. 50 same thing, lasted a little longer this time, dry mouth occasionally. About 3 months 60 awesome. My happy medium. Dry mouth, of course, drink a lot of water. Carry gum, lol. I never lost sleep (results may vary). 80 I was a zombie. Depressed. Not depressed. I didn’t know. Everything was a dream. No one needs this."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "Was put on this medication senior year. I was a C student, but after I was put on Vyvanse 60mg, I got straight A’s the whole year. I enjoyed going to school! The only thing I don’t like about this medication is you get a very dry mouth. And you feel like you have to constantly be doing something, or you feel like a madman. Also, the comedown in the beginning is awful. Midday, I felt like a zombie and didn’t have an emotion."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I have taken 20 mg and must say that it's the best medicine for me. I can concentrate, feeling peace in my mind. I'm also bipolar, and before Elvanse, I tried medicine Concerta and Ritalin, which made me more depressed. When they were going away from my body, I felt awful. Elvanse is just a miracle medicine, I don't feel when it goes away. The only side effects of the medicine are dry mouth and not feeling hungry. Don't forget to eat and drink water because if you don't, your blood sugar will go down, and you're going to feel ill, bad, headache! I recommend this medicine!"

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADD, and my doctor recommended me to take Vyvanse 40mg. The first day, I took it around 6:00 am, and it started to work about an hour in. I was able to focus very well and was a lot more sociable. However, the good effects of the medicine only lasted for 5 hours, and then everything went downhill, and I felt depressed. My heart was beating faster than usual, dry mouth, and I had no desire for food. The next day, thinking it would be better, it didn't kick in until around 2:00 pm and only lasted for a few hours. Sometimes, it would leave me feeling very antisocial and agitated. Today is my last day taking it because it hasn't worked for me at all today. I wasn't hungry all day, felt very sweaty, nervous, agitated, out of breath."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I'm a 20-year-old college student and have been taking Vyvanse for about 6 months now. Honestly, I love this medication, as it has helped me in almost every aspect of life. My grades, as well as my confidence in social situations, are better than ever. The only slightly annoying side effect that hasn't gone away is that I find my mouth sometimes getting extremely dry. Sometimes I'll notice that my breath smells funny as a result, and I find myself going through a lot of gum and breath mints and even brushing my teeth randomly throughout the day. Overall though, Vyvanse has been a miracle for me."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "My 7-year-old daughter just started taking Vyvanse 40 mg in the morning after 7 years of avoiding medications, she has completely slowed down and is able to focus. My only concern is her having a dry mouth and biting on the inside of her jaw. This is her first day, hopefully, it just needs a few days to adjust. A big difference already. I hope this is all we need and it continues to get better."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "Vyvanse 60mg pros: laser focused, VERY social, upbeat, very confident. If you have ADHD, you know what I mean when I say 'the fear' disappears. The fear when you think about your to-do list and the task of organizing and prioritizing and asking yourself whether or not you can do something. The fear of anticipation of that goes away. It's euphoric. cons: VERY dry mouth, I had to get Biotene. I am going to scale back to 30mg because 60mg really made me lose some of my inhibitions. I couldn't control what I was saying. I said things to friends I've known for 10 years that I have NEVER said, good + bad. Start with a lower dose. Make sure you don't use this drug for weight loss. It's tempting, but it's disturbingly unhealthy and oftentimes fat."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I started with 20 mg, and it was great, but after 5 hours, I felt that I lost the effect of the medicine. The doctor ordered 40 mg instead, and I felt depressed. Instead, I'm taking 20 mg Elvanse and 10/15 mg Adderall. I have to say that this medicine is the best ever. Side effects are dry mouth and sleep problems, and tiredness when the medicine goes away from the body. If you don't eat and drink water, you're going to feel bad, remember that. I recommend taking magnesium if you feel tension in your body and vitamin C before you go to sleep (it makes that medicine go away faster from your body). This medicine makes me focused, I do things properly, I like to talk with other people, and I feel so... quite in my head. Before, I tried Ritalin and Concerta, the worst meds."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I am 46 years old and was officially diagnosed with ADD last year. My doctor put me on Adderall. It worked wonders, as long as I remembered to take my second pill. Since my insurance did not cover the extended release, I was put on Vyvanse 54 mg, I think. My focus is longer-acting, which increases my functionality at work, however, the side effects have been unfavorable for me. I have headaches, diarrhea at least two times a day, nausea, extreme irritability, extreme dry mouth, gained seven pounds this month, feeling more depressed, and halfway through the day, I get very tired and feel like I am waiting for the second wave of medication to hit. My follow-up with my doctor is tomorrow, and I am going to request to go back to Adderall. I just think overall, I was a more pleasant and functional person. I do not want to try yet another ADD medication because I am scared of more side effects, and I had minimal side effects on Adderall. I am glad that Vyvanse helps some people, but it doesn’t work for everyone."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "So far, so good. I recently started Vyvanse, and it has been wonderful. I am really seeing a difference. The only side effect I have experienced is dry mouth, and I did not drink enough water anyway, so I have had a very positive experience."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "My doctor switched me from Adderall IR 20 mg twice a day to Vyvanse once a day. It takes a long time for the Vyvanse to kick in, but when it does, it causes tremendous dry mouth like I've never experienced. I would take it at 5 a.m. At 10:30, I would feel dry mouth and anxiety for about an hour. On my ride home from work around 5:30 p.m., I got very drowsy. By 8:00 p.m., I was extremely drowsy and would fall asleep on the couch if I sat down to watch TV. This never happened with Adderall. My overall anxiety seems better while on the Vyvanse. My mood also stayed relatively constant throughout the day, versus the ups and downs I feel on IR Adderall. I found that my appetite actually increased on Vyvanse, and I gained 8 pounds in 1 month, which is unacceptable to me. Nothing else changed in my life except the medication, and I attribute the weight gain to this. Also, constipation was worse. Overall, the drowsiness and weight gain outweighed the benefits I felt from Vyvanse."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I'm 29 and was just given Vyvanse for ADD. Always knew I had it, but was too embarrassed to actually do anything about it. After taking this medication for the last week, it was really a huge mistake to wait. It has fixed my memory, my focus, my social anxiety, can go places and don't want to leave right away. I am sure things can still turn, but it has been the best week of my life that I can remember. If I can get past the side effects, dry mouth, stomach pain, little trouble sleeping (all worth it for me), I'll be good. Now I just hope it can fix my spelling soon."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I'm 17 and a junior in high school. The medicine gets the work done for me. I'm so focused and makes me more focused, but there are some things I don't like. It makes my mouth super dry and makes me lose my appetite. Kinda sucks because I want to eat at lunch, but I can't because it makes me want to throw up. I've also lost weight because of the meds. I think the pill is good, they just need to fix the side effect."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I am a 14-year-old girl, and last year, when in 8th grade, I found out I was ADD. My doctor prescribed me Vyvanse. At first, it took me a couple of weeks to find out what worked for me (when to take it, eat first or after, etc.). My grades at the time were horrible, and they went up after I started taking Vyvanse. I have had a few of the side effects (dry mouth, loss of appetite, weight loss, etc.), but this medication helps me focus a lot more."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I am so happy with Vyvanse. It has been 3 days now, and I see a difference. I am completing tasks, meaning multiple tasks around the house (with 2 kids under 2 years old) and at work (350 Pap smears and biopsies). I am not falling asleep at work either, nor do I drink coffee. The only thing is I am not locked in, laser-focused, but I am still productive and my personality is still Jessica, lol. I think for the next medication refill, I am able to manage a higher dosage, 50 mg or more, because I am not sensitive. My only side effect is dry mouth, and none other, slight appetite suppression. I just stay hydrated, which is awesome. I wish I had started on Vyvanse first, but with all things through trial and error, we learn. This medication is worth every penny! I'm even prepared to pay for my 30-day supply and include it in my monthly budget. When I was on Adderall, the come down made me a zombie and mad irritable. I have also taken modafinil and Strattera together, and it worked but was less effective."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "My 6-year-old son was only on this for 10 days before yanking him off of it. The first day he ate almost nothing, threw up by 5 pm, and was awake at least 3 hours after putting him to bed. That day and the next few days he talked incessantly and had a dry mouth, but his ability to attend in school was a little better but only for maybe 4 hours tops. By the last 3 days, it was making him worse. He was very irritable and was literally bouncing off the walls, and made his impulsiveness even worse. He was crawling on the floor, biting his nails wildly, licking things...you name it. This was a kid that most other people never even knew had issues, but within a week on Vyvanse, he was definitely acting wild."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I'm a 24-year-old male. I was on Adderall XR 30 mg (daily) for around 3-4 years before my doctor suggested we try Vyvanse. I have always been pleased with Adderall XR and have no complaints about side effects. Vyvanse (60 mg daily) worked as advertised for about 3-4 days. It was like an upgraded Adderall XR (provided a longer half-life that is much needed for my schedule of college and work). Unfortunately, the drug drastically lost its effectiveness. The dry mouth was extreme as well. After just 10 days, taking 2 at a time had no effect. Went back to Adderall XR and I'm still impressed."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I started using this medication about 4 months ago. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5 years old. The only annoying thing about this medication is that it keeps my mouth extremely dry. I found that using hard candies (regular or sugar-free) helps a lot. Vyvanse has helped me a lot, especially with my concentration. I can actually read a book without having to read the same page 3 times, but the only thing is that it feels like my blood pressure goes up, I also have tachycardia."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I'm 29 years old and was diagnosed with ADD when I was about 11 years old. Since that time, I've been on and off a variety of medications from Ritalin, Adderall, and most recently, Vyvanse, which I've been on for a year and am currently taking 70 mg a day. It helps with my alertness and attentiveness, but I have some of the side effects like extremely dry mouth and little, if any, appetite. I am currently working during the day and take graduate classes at night and notice that the medication does not last the entire 12 hours. I've been taking it later in the day so that I'm able to concentrate in class. Since I began taking the medication, I have seen an increase in acne, previously, I had minor occasional breakouts."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "Been diagnosed with severe ADHD as a child on all the generic medications: Ritalin, Adderall, Adderall XR. Decided to run my life without it and did well for a while until I became 25. As you get older, ADHD changes and involves more depression, emotion, and anger while still keeping your energy level and craziness. Vyvanse was prescribed at a low dose, and it is clearly night and day on it. Emotions are manageable, and my mind is clear. One thought at a time. The lights in our mind do go out a tad. It's not so exciting in your own head anymore, but you do gain a sense of control that is, with ADHD, you don't even know exists. Some dry mouth, and it will keep you up at night if you take it too late. But that's to be expected from amphetamines. Some loss of appetite."
