"Lisdexamfetamine is the only thing I know that helps my depression. It has to do with it being a prodrug that doesn't release the amphetamine until the body metabolizes it and how that affects the dopamine and norepinephrine. During this 'shortage' of stimulant medications, there are times I haven't been able to get it in time. When it runs out, I am essentially immobilized by my depression. I also get very irritable, so my family suffers. I have taken all the other medications, currently Effexor - never, ever get on this, it is literally impossible for me to get off due to the withdrawal symptoms and am stuck with the minimum dose and side effects for the rest of my life - lamotrigine, and trazodone. Again, lisdexamfetamine is the only thing I know for sure helps me."

"I've been prescribed two stimulants for my depression as an insurance plan to get a little bit of short-term relief from the lack of motivation and low energy to get me out of bed and get going. I was prescribed Dexamphetamine and Ritalin and, unfortunately, to no avail. I was happy for 2-3 hours and then the crash would linger for longer. HOWEVER, Lisdexamphetamine, being a slower release stimulant, has done a very good job for my depression and Anhedonic symptoms. I do get a crash, however, it's not anywhere near as tearful or irritable as the previous two meds. The worst-case scenario is a headache and maybe a little bit of drop in energy, other than that it's great. I've been on this trial for 5 days now, and it's really been mostly positive so far. Definitely recommend giving it a try if fast-release ADHD stimulants aren't working for you."

"I’ve suffered with treatment-resistant depression since I was 30. I'm now 67... Years of trying at least 10 antidepressants, mixed with Abilify and lamotrigine. I was really struggling with getting out of bed, bathing, feeling like a loser because I thought I was lazy. Worried about losing my marriage because I had little to give. I spent most days in my bedroom sleeping. My new doctor of 3 years has been patient with trying different therapies and combinations. He prescribed lisdexamfetamine along with Prozac and lamotrigine. It has helped so much. It doesn’t make me feel crazy, but it gets me out of bed to complete a few tasks a day, even run errands and make scheduled appointments. I'm feeling like I’m actually participating in life. I sleep fine at night. But there is a BIG problem... my insurance is denying coverage for this drug or generic Adderall. It’s expensive on a fixed income. Adderall is cheaper, but I crash at about 2 pm on it. Lisdexamfetamine is smooth."

"55 y/o male with depression and anxiety since I can remember. Have tried 4 different SSRIs, 1 SNRI, 3 adjunct antipsychotics, and Ketamine. Effexor worked for 3-4 months and then stopped working. Auvelity worked for 2-3 months and then stopped working. Ketamine worked for literally 24 hours and then no benefit. Have been on Vyvanse (standalone) and intense daily exercise for a couple of years now, and not only has it taken my depression and anxiety away, but I actually feel happy, motivated, and peaceful."

Lisdexamfetamine "I am on my third day of taking this now. First day: mild headache that got worse as the day went on, mild upset stomach, sleeping normal, itchy at night. Second day: bouts of nausea, strange uncomfortable feeling, hot and cold flashes, not a good sleep, itchy at night (worse). Third day: feel really moody, negative, and I have a strange feeling, also exhausted. It clearly isn't for me. I don't feel like 'myself' in three days? Kind of scary."

"Taking Vyvanse for treatment-resistant depression, started to notice half-life extending from 11 hours to 15 hours. Very unusual. The only other med I've taken that has this half-life is Modavigil, does anyone have similar experiences?"

"I'm a 39-year-old male who suffers from major depressive disorder and chronic fatigue. Things have gotten so bad that I'm on disability and sleep 12-16 hours a day. My doctor prescribed me this in hopes of it boosting my energy. I took my first 30 mg dose this morning. For 3 or 4 hours, my heart was beating out of my chest, and then I crashed. Not a pleasant experience on day 1, I probably won't take this tomorrow."
