For Underactive Thyroid "I have been on Levothyroxine 0.25 mg for about 6 weeks. I am borderline low thyroid. I am shaky and tired sometimes. Because I have had a kidney transplant, I must take lots of calcium and vitamin D. I take Levothyroxine about 7 am, and at 9 am, I must take my kidney medicines with food. I have started using a no-calcium coffee creamer instead of milk. I take calcium and vitamin D at noon and with the evening meal along with a multivitamin. Since I made these adjustments, I hope to see an improvement soon."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "My daughter had a total thyroidectomy done 8 years ago, and we were told she would get her life back. She was prescribed levothyroxine, which kept needing to be increased every few weeks - but her life got worse. She continued to display worsening hypo symptoms, she kept falling asleep, walked around with a duvet wrapped around her even in the summer, she couldn’t concentrate on anything. After 2 years, we went to a private consultant who recommended natural desiccated thyroid, and after a few adjustments, she did get back to normal, or as near as possible - she still gets very tired but is now at university, loving it and doing really well, working part-time and going out with friends. She would never go back to levothyroxine! She also found HealthUnlocked, who have been a wonderful source of information and support for her."

For Underactive Thyroid "This is about the most worthless drug I have ever taken. I have been on it since 2017 and have had so many different adjustments and 4 endocrinologists and many tests, etc. It just doesn't work. My symptoms are the same as they have always been now for 5 years. I just want to stop taking it, but the doctors are afraid to let me just because my numbers are in 'normal' range. I don't care about the numbers, I want to feel better. I lost 0 weight, I am still tired as anything all the time, my head is always in a fog... I'm so glad they are happy with the numbers, but I am not happy at all. I think I'll just stop on my own. -- Oh, and who makes a drug that has to be taken under such strict protocol? No eating or drinking for an hour in the morning??? Who has an hour to spare in the morning? My morning coffee offers more relief than this medication does. I'm not about to miss my coffee over this poorly made medication. This is about money, not about people feeling better."

Levothyroxine for Underactive Thyroid "My heart is broken for everyone after reading all this. I have the same story of Walmart switching me without asking and telling me it’s exactly the same. I’ve had increased heart palpitations and chest pains, weekly headaches, stiffness, and thought I was just getting older! My thyroid is larger and less efficient. Even though my numbers jumped so much lower than normal, my doctor didn’t change anything, and I am feeling tired every afternoon. I am changing doctors, and I went to Publix this week because they had my old generic variation, as the Walmart here in Brunswick, Georgia, still does not carry the one I got from them for 10+ years, saying it’s a month+ wait for it. I tossed the stupid yellow packets and started the old pill 2 days ago! I pray this solves some problems and this new med didn't cause permanent damage to any of us!"

Levothyroxine for Hashimoto's disease "Like many of you, I changed to Walmart pharmacy, and my levothyroxine was replaced with Euthyrox. Within a few weeks, I started noticing symptoms: tired, achy, blurry vision. I finally thought maybe it had to do with the Euthyrox since it reminded me of how I felt before I was diagnosed. Thank goodness I found this page. Thank you for commenting, it's like I wrote it myself. In the trash they go! I'm going back to Walgreens!"

Levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "This medication does not work the same as other thyroid medications. I have been on thyroid medication since I was 15. Walmart switched me to this one, and the pharmacist assured me it was exactly the same. I trusted them, and they were wrong. My levels shot up, I started gaining weight (40 lbs), I’m swelling, have brain fog, am irritable, heat and cold intolerant, and I’m so tired during the day but can’t sleep at night. I don’t understand how this can be given to us without them fully explaining the differences in the medications. This could be very dangerous for someone like me as I no longer have a thyroid. My doctor wrote me a new prescription yesterday, and when I got home from getting it filled, I realized they gave me Euthyrox again. I had to go back up to the pharmacy and have them switch it. They apologized for giving me the wrong one and replaced it because my doctor included in the notes to not give me Euthyrox anymore. I can’t wait to start feeling better again."

Levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Walmart started giving me boxed Euthyrox over a year ago. Due to COVID, I did not get routine blood work for TSH levels. Last week, I saw my doctor complaining of exhaustion; my blood work shows 16 TSH while on 100 mcg Euthyrox. Since my total thyroid removal in 2009, I have been on 88-125 mcg Levothyroxine, with my highest TSH being 9, and 100 mcg brought it down. Euthyrox must be the cause of my suffering and TSH 16."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I suffered for 6 months not knowing what was wrong with me. Hospital after hospital, doctor after doctor. Extremely horrible chest pains every single day was the main symptom, but tiredness, constipation, appetite problems, etc. Finally, my doctor found I had an extremely underactive thyroid, with my ranges being in the 1,000s. She put me on 25 mg levothyroxine. At first, it actually made me feel worse. Really sluggish, my blood pressure was high if I drank any caffeine throughout the day with the medicine. It took about 4-5 weeks for it to actually kick in and now I feel completely normal again. It’s such an amazing feeling. I can drink caffeine now without it counteracting with the medicine. I suggest taking it really, really early in the morning and don’t eat for an hour after or drink anything, also take it on a slightly empty stomach."
