Levothyroxine for Underactive Thyroid "On a whim trying to figure out what is wrong with me. No doctor seems to help me. I researched the difference between the two drugs & mercy. Have I found the culprit? I have been feeling so lethargic, insomnia, weak, dizzy, fast heart rate, sweats if I try to push myself and faint. Physically unstable, nauseated, ankle and leg cramps, foggy, foggy. Memory getting bad, vision, headaches, chest, indigestion. I was given Euthyrox by Walmart instead of Levothyroxine. Taking for 3 months. Changed pharmacy in the meantime to Walgreens. I picked up new 90 Levothyroxine."

Levothyroxine for Underactive Thyroid "This drug needs to be taken off the market! Should have been taken off before now with all the negative reactions. My dosage is 88 mcg. My experience after beginning this drug is as follows: insomnia, headaches, fatigue, blurred vision, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, leg cramps, weakness in legs. I am so angry! Can't we trust our FDA to approve only what is safe for us? Look at the low rating!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have Grave's disease, and after treatment, my thyroid is hypoactive. My doctor put me on the levothyroxine, but I struggle with constant fatigue and insomnia. I changed to Armour thyroid a few months ago and noticed considerable improvements-not only in my fatigue and energy levels but in my mood. I struggle with depression while I'm on the levothyroxine, but I don't on the Armour thyroid. Also, on the Armour thyroid, my skin and hair were much healthier, my appetite and gastrointestinal system more regular, and what an incredible thing it was to actually sleep! I have had to go back to the levothyroxine because of problems getting the Armour thyroid (it's on backorder). I have insomnia again, and I'm always miserably tired."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have been on this medication for 5.5 years, and at first, I'd felt great. Things were going well until 3 years ago when I'd started having side effects. Weight gain every year (10 lbs), even though I'd worked out and ate pretty healthy, couldn't sleep, depression got worse, mood swings, sometimes I wouldn't have a period, extreme fatigue, brittle nails, and muscle ache. Every time I'd taken blood work, the test came out fine. I'd gotten tested for everything else and nothing seems to work. Just recently, I'd started crying myself to sleep because of the mood swings. I'm also falling asleep while driving because no amount of sleep keeps me up. I'd finally done more research because my doctor only suggested two medications. I'm calling today."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Levothyroxine 50 mcg was prescribed. First-time user. First day took only half. By midday, I felt hyperactive. Had difficulty falling asleep at night. 2nd day took 1 tab. Still felt overactive for the day. Still insomnia 3rd, 4th, 5th day, heat intolerance set in. I had the air conditioner on all day and all night. 6th day, all were felt, and at about 7 pm, a severe headache was felt while at a party. Headache was so severe it felt like the pressure on my head was going to burst off my head. Cooled off by putting ice on my face, which also made my glands swell, did not lower the pressure on my head. Took blood pressure reading when I got home. It was very high. I have never felt such a pressure headache before in my life, nor high blood pressure reading."

Levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "This stuff is awful. Had thyroid removed November 17th, 2022. It took a while to get my levels normal. When they finally were normal, I felt terrible. Chest pains, anxiety, going from cold to burning up, insomnia, loss of focus, and so much more. Through the grace of God, I found this website. The doctor immediately changed my medication when I showed him what I found. It is really bad and makes you feel out of control because you can't slow your heart down or do anything about the anxiety. I have been off of it for 3 days, and I am praying the side effects go away soon. If you are having these problems, take a deep breath and give yourself a break. Exercise was the only thing that would help, but the chest pain, fast heartbeat, and anxiety would come right back. Tell the people around you so they can give you a break. It makes everything really hard, and the smallest thing will frustrate you, and then you feel worse. Try to remember it's the medicine and not you, and it will get better."

Levothyroxine for Underactive Thyroid "When my doctor upped my dosage from 50 mcg to 75, Walmart gave me this box instead of the bottle of a 3-month supply at once. Euthyrox. I've never been completely happy with the hypothyroid meds, as I've never gotten rid of my symptoms of hypothyroidism. My dosage is too low, and my doctor won't listen to me. My last test showed my blood level at a 2.8. The 'normal' range being 2.4 - 4.2. Being that low is NOT okay for me as a woman still of childbearing age, and my hair loss has not let up at all, like it should if I was on the right dosage for my body. But since June 24, 2021, when I was switched to this Euthyrox, I'm even more miserable. I didn't realize the side effects were so bad from what I'd been on previously. I started doing research in March, and everything I've found has not been good for Euthyrox. My symptoms/side effects have been shortness of breath, muscle spasm, headache, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, tremors, muscle weakness associated with Euthyrox. No more of this rubbish."

For Underactive Thyroid "I am from HK and have been on this Levothyroxine (Actavis brand) since Dec 2016 (when first diagnosed with hypothyroidism). Two months down the line, I feel no side effects. It's like just popping the pill, which I want to stop. One to two weeks initially had insomnia and palpitations as a side effect. Can I stop it overall? I'm also taking Amlodipine for my hypertension with BP levels now at a near normal level of 130/76 average. Weight lost from 83 kg now to 75 kg average."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I had a thyroidectomy in 2006 - benign growth. For 12 years, I was on Levothyroxine Milan mfg. and my TSH stayed around 2.6. About 3 years ago, due to an insurance change, they substituted from Milan to Lannett mfg. I spent 6 months going back to the doctor for excruciating neck and headache. I found out, after research, the Lannett mfg. had a lactose binding agent in it. I changed doctors, he thought it was all in my head and told me to get a massage. I went back to Milan mfg., but my TSH recently has been .26. Started having pain nightly on the mastoid bone behind the left ear, insomnia, and joint pain. I am so frustrated, I like my doctor, but he isn’t an endocrinologist. Anyone have symptoms like these?"

"I have been taking this medicine, Levothyroxine, for a while, and I feel terrible. I’ve put on so much weight, my muscles hurt, where I can hardly get out of bed, have trouble sleeping, headaches. When medicine makes you feel worse than you did before, I wonder why doctors put you on this stuff."
