For Underactive Thyroid "I have hypothyroid but still have my thyroid. So Levo. works wells for me. Lowers my TSH and even aided in weight loss. I always have better bowel movements when taking this medication. It stopped my hair from stripping out. BUT, at first it did cause my heart to race when I was bumped up to 0.75 and it does cause fatigue. I would get really sweaty when I started taking the 0.75. I see now why they don't want you taking this if you've been experiencing heart attack symptoms because boy did this make me feel like I was having one. Only issues I had with taking 0.50 was the fatigue, but my TSH was steady going down. The side effects have subsided. Guess I just needed to stick it out. I feel better on Levothyroxine than without it. It works. Prayers for healing for us all <3"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "For the first few years I had my OB/GYN monitoring my thyroid and adjusting my Levothyroxine… What a mistake! I never felt good and come to find out he was doing it wrong. Not doing the right test to monitor my levels and decreasing my dose when he should've been increasing. I started to see an endocrinologist and WOW! What a difference. He switched me to namebrand Synthroid only (which made a difference) and checks my levels twice a year to make sure I'm on the correct dose. I feel amazing for the first time in years!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I started taking Levothyroxine around 2 months ago ,building up from 50 to 75. Recently had blood test back, and my results have come back as normal now! I went from nearly collapsing whilst out walking my dog. Having aches and pains. Brainfog, no energy at all...falling asleep at the drop of a hat!! Fights with hubby ,because I was so fatigued! Was going on like that for years, until Doctor gave me the bloodtest, and realized It was a medical condition..I thought it was me ,just being tired and irritable. Now I am starting to recover, slowly ,,weight gain .Went from 9stone to 12.2. 3 stone. now I have to lose al this weight because of hypothyroidism..nightmare! But I feel more awake , more energy ,hope this review helps someone!"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "MUST be taken at night - and it absolutely seems to work for me. No more brain fog - and for someone who was always a go getter - the brain fog was devastating. No more night sweats either. Those were the worst."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I had half my thyroid out almost three months ago. Started taking medication about five weeks post-op. I have become depressed and stressed. Everything bothers me and I cannot let it go. I go days without sleeping and live on black coffee. I have the shakes and hate everybody and everything. I cannot rid myself of the stress. I do not know if this is the medicine but that is the only new medicine I have been taking."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I've been taking Synthroid since October 2010 for my underactive Thyroid and am also a type 2 Diabetic. It is now February 2011 and things are wonderful. After about two weeks, my mood improved. After 6 weeks I was able to get a haircut (prior to this my hair kept breaking off at the ends) and my hair shines again. I've also lost a total of 15.5 pounds and counting. My doctor says it's because the Synthroid has corrected my metabolism. No bad side effects to date (fingers crossed for the future too). I am on a low dose...25mg. Monday through to Friday only...Weekends off."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "While it brought the TSH into the appropriate range, the exhaustion, lethargy, constipation, etc. was unbearable. For 20 hours out of the day, felt drowsy, unmotivated and sleepy. This is no way to live. Got on Tirosint and what a difference."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "Great medication for those who have absorption issues (Celiac, diary intolerances, etc) and no T3 conversion problems. On that note, you will find that a specific dose of Tirosint will feel much higher than that same dose in regular Levothyroxine, for example. As a gel cap with no fillers, more medication is able to absorb into your system. Start with a much lower dose than you think you need and work your way up. Over the past 10 years I've tried Armour Thyroid, NP Thyroid, NatureThroid, Levothyroxine, & Synthroid. With all the other medications, I always felt like I was constantly increasing my dose. At one point, I was on 200mcg of levothyroxine. I'm now taking 25mcg of Tirosint 5-6 days a week. My levels have never been as "steady" as they are with Tirosint, and it's nice to know I only need a small dose of it as opposed to depending on such a large dose on a daily basis. The only downside is the price, but it makes a world of difference."

For Underactive Thyroid "I've been taking levothyoxine for a week and a half now and before it I would fall asleep at work, when I was driving, just watching tv. There was a time that I went through 5 different sleep medications in 2 months to try and figure out the right one because nothing was working for me. My whole body ached, and worst of all my hair was falling out. The first couple of days taking the medication my body ached really bad but it got better. I lost 12 pounds already and my hair stopped falling out. I also am able to get through the day without falling asleep and because I don't fall asleep during the day I get tired during the night! I love it."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I started taking this drug Tirosint a year ago and initially felt more awake, energetic and happier. I lost some weight and was back to a comfortable maintenance weight pre-thyroid issues, but in the past few months, I have gained it all back and then some more. I honestly notice no difference in my energy levels now and in fact notice my immune system is much worse than before. I think this may all be due to the recent change in manufacturer, as all the side effects have shown up since early this year, but I’m ready to be off this drug."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I am not the patient but have power of attorney for her. She's my mother in law and I've been caring for her medical needs for more than 15 years. She has Alzheimers disease and is now in memory care. I've been unable to visit her since the Covid started. We can talk through the mobile phone and see her through a window. She is so frail now. Losing weight. Won't eat much. Sleeps almost continually. Begs to see her family. Was changed from Levothyroxine about 3 months ago to Tirosint. Going downhill continually. 95 years old and getting good care in her memory facility (we are lucky). But this drug seems to be making her worse. Get used to it. This is what Socialized Medicine looks like."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for TSH Suppression "I was given Euthryrox 50 mcg by Walmart instead of my usual thyroid medication. My doctors did not request Euthryrox or that the medication should be changed. I have been taking Euthryrox for 3 months and have experienced hives/welts on my left neck hairline and lower back. I am also experiencing headaches that are different than other headaches along with joint and back pain. I may be a coincidence but have requested Walmart to refill to my original prescription."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "Originally my doctor put me on Levothyroxine when I first had symptoms of hypothyroidism. I continue to have the symptoms and ended up putting on a total of 43 lb! I then asked to see an endocrinologist and Bug them to put me on nature thyroid.. do to my persistence they put me on 82. 75 MCG of naturethroid. After 3 weeks of it in my system, I began to have energy again, stomach aches went away, slept better and was able to work out daily again! My new endocrinologist insisted that Synthroid was better then nature thyroid... So I will switch to Synthroid.. stomach aches and fatigue came back.. Synthroid and Levothyroxine don't help."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I've been on Synthroid for over 15 years due to Hashimoto's Disease and also partial thyroidectomy due to a nodule. For anyone who is on the medication and says they are feeling depressed, tired, etc. check into the symptoms of hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's disease as it may be that your medication is not at the right dose. My doctor considers 'normal' TSH to be between 1 and 3 while the AMA lists it as between 1 and 5. When I am at a 4, I do not feel well and have all the symptoms. DON'T just STOP taking this medication on your own as you can have severe side effects, GO back to your doctor and discuss how you feel. I cannot take the generics as they do not work for me. Only SYNTHROID for me! (I'm on 225 a day!)"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I've been on Synthroid (Levothyroxine) for about a year and a half now. They've changed my dose 4 times so far and I'm currently at 100 mcg. Once they keep me on a dose for a bit, I feel okay, but with every change I have a few annoying side effects. I can say that if you take it every day like you're supposed to, it will work eventually. You have to be patient, it won't make you feel great right away. It took me about 3 months. But it helped with my lethargy, weight and even depression. It's pretty good if you take as prescribed. If you stop taking it suddenly, the effects of hypothyroidism come back pretty quickly and severely so I recommend taking it as your doctor states."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "Since being diagnosed with "Hypothyroidism"(1999). 1st was given antidepressents for being tired and gaining weight (eyeroll). Have been on 88mcg's of *Synthroid-daily.My blood work has always come back with my TSH at the HIGH-end of normal. Former Dr retired years ago so no continuum of care (walk in clinic). Recently new Dr suggested we adjust meds to bring down the TSH level. Started with 100mcg *Levothyroxine 5 days & Synthroid 88-2 days a week.In a few months time I suffered some pretty severe side effects-EXTREME dizziness/weakness,lack of energy, mood extremes, weight is either climbing or stagnant, racing pulse/heartrate.We checked levels & now TSH reads at the extreme low end of normal.I'm scared please help."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "Walmart keeps switching my thyroid medication brand. They gave me this one and I googled it. It was recalled in Europe. It is a very dangerous drug. I have contacted my physician and refuse to use it. I do not need more problems. Your pharmacy should never change your thyroid prescription brand. Medications should only be changed for a medical reason, not financial purpose."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "So sorry some of you are having this experience with Synthroid. I have been on this medication for 8 years now. When I started out with it, I had many of the same symptoms of all of you for about nine months. During that time I went thru 5 medication adjustments. Started out at 25 mcg , then ended up at 100mcg. Then went to taking the 100 mcg 5 times a week and cutting the pill in half two days. What worked for me is the following: -Take exactly the same time every morning -Do not eat or drink anything within the hour after that -Some medications and supplements interfere with the absorption of it. Take them 4 to 6 hours before or after. This is important because Synthroid is a narrow therapeutic dosing drug. In other words, if your dose isn't just right, you will experience all the negative side effects of both hypo and drug side effects. - If your dr isn't willing to adjust the dose for you like my dr has, find another dr."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have been on Tirosint for 21 months along with a T3 only med. But for the past month I have been exhibiting hypo symptoms when nothing else has changed. This is for the 100 mcg dosage. I called the number on the box and reported my symptoms. The woman said she has been getting other complaints and recently, too. What's important to note is that in December 2018 Tirosint changed distributors. I think there is a batch consistency issue. I am sleeping 12 hours a night, having depression (nothing changed in my life), increased joint pain and severe fatigue. The only reason I rated it an 8 is because for the first year-and-a-half, with the old distributor, I had no issues. I REALLY don't want to change thyroid meds again. That would be devastating."
