For Birth Control "I got the Liletta inserted 11 months ago. No kids. It did hurt when they put it in, but only for a few minutes, and then I had intermittent cramping for a few days, for which I took Aleve and put a heating pad on my tummy. I had intermittent cramping for a few months, mostly before my period, which now lasts half a day (down from 7 days). I have gained 15 pounds, though, even though I exercise every day and eat really healthy. My face also breaks out, like a teenager's face. But I do like not having to worry about getting pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've had this IUD since April 2017. The initial issue was bleeding for about a week, but other problems in the long run for me are the mood swings, feeling deep depression, and the slight weight gain. Even after eating right and working out, I wasn't able to lose any weight while having this IUD in me, unlike when I didn't have it in me, I could lose weight fast. I do have periods, but they aren't as heavy and are very irregular. For me, this IUD does its job. I haven't gotten pregnant at all while on it. It's good to get if you aren't trying to get pregnant, of course, but be sure to do your research in advance and review others' side effects to it before getting it, which I wish I did but didn't. If I did, I wouldn't have gotten it, and I plan to remove it ASAP."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta inserted in October 2016. I went for my first month follow-up in mid-November, and it was coming out a bit. My ob-gyn replaced it and told me to come back in another month to check it again. Today, while at the gym, it completely came out! Not sure if my body rejected it or what. The duration of my having the Liletta, I gained weight and kept it on, super difficult to lose it! Not to mention the acne and cramping. I think I'll stick to Tri-Sprintec. Good luck, ladies."

For Birth Control "So I just had my Liletta removed after a year and a half of having it. I had it put in after my 3rd baby as I didn't want to take a pill anymore. So insertion was pain-free. I got cramps like labor. I was also breastfeeding, which the IUD affected my supply. Dr. says no, but I know my body. I became really depressed, angry, moody, gained weight, migraines, vision not clear, suicidal, etc. My family begged me. We all agreed I changed. Removal was pain-free. It has only been 3 days since I got it removed. The bad part they don't tell you after getting it removed is that your period is like a hurricane, so be prepared to get heavy pads like overnights. Worse than after I had my baby. Things I liked were no pill every day, no periods, and no worries. I will not recommend Liletta or Nexplanon (the arm implant) to anyone. Currently, my older daughter is going in the same direction with Nexplanon as I did with Liletta. NEVER AGAIN!!"

For Birth Control "I just finished having my Liletta removed after two years in. I originally got this IUD to help with my heavy flow, which consisted of 8-12 days long. After insertion, I bled/spotted for about 6 months. After that, my period would come for about 3 days and would only need to wear panty liners. However, my last year, my period was all over the place, and I began to feel some side effects. For example: lethargy, spotting, cramps, breast swelling, nipple tenderness, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and weight gain. My period was also impossible to track, if I could guess, I would say I had a period of 3-4 days twice a month at random times. I removed it this week, and I feel better, I lost 3 lbs so far, my sore breasts and nipples are gone, and most importantly, I feel happy."

For Birth Control "Everyone has different experiences with Liletta. I got the Liletta replaced after Skyla had fallen out. Insertion for both was the same. Just a pinch and it was over. Not bad at all. For the Liletta, the strings were cut too short. I had a few days of spotting after insertion, but then I was back to normal. The pro is that Liletta was very effective in avoiding pregnancy and it got rid of my period. The con is that I experienced frequent painful headaches, cramping before my periods (which is new to me), painful sex from sharp ovary pain and dryness, low libido, acne, weight gain, and serious bloating. For removal, I had to get my cervix dilated because the strings curled up inside. Two months have passed and now I'm 15 lbs down & symptoms have faded."

For Birth Control "I've had the Liletta IUD for a year and a half. I'm being dramatic, but it feels like it has ruined my sense of self and me overall. They say weight gain is not a part of the side effects, but you'll feel incredibly bloated all the time. Then you'll be too depressed and chronically anxious to work out or do anything. It also, for me, caused rapid mood swings and cravings that I've never experienced. Prior to my IUD, I was 120 lb, now I'm reaching 160 lb, despite staying active and eating healthy. I can't shed the weight. I feel pregnant even though I'm not. Swollen ankles, bloated, moody, chronically anxious ALL the time, and the worst body and facial acne that I've never had to deal with before. It caused these crazy cystic zits, despite me trying everything to keep it at bay. Needless to say, this has been a living nightmare, and I'm throwing a party after I get it removed. It's an official divorce party from the nightmarish IUD."

For Birth Control "Previously, I had written a review about the Liletta. I've had a great experience, still no weight gain or anything. At first, I was nervous about getting an implant because of some of the reviews, but it wasn't bad. You just have to breathe when they put it in. I had one daughter that was planned. Me and her dad are separated now, but it is very comfortable. I've had no complications. I've had a wonderful experience with this, it works great, and this is my first birth control ever. I've never gained any weight or anything. If anything, I think it helped me lose some weight, so I've had a good experience with this birth control. I'd recommend it to anyone."

For Birth Control "I am reading this blog, and I have had extreme weight gain since I started using Liletta. I previously had the copper IUD for 12 years. No issues. My doctor told me Liletta was a great choice when I was having my IUD replaced, and I wish I found these stories before saying yes to it! I gained about 32 lb in 2.5 years, and I am always bloated, moody, and irritable. I'm tired and have zero sex drive, and this is so abnormal for me. Everyone kept saying you're getting older, but I just didn't feel right in my own body. I will be calling my doctor and having it removed this week!"

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta IUD in March 2021 when I was 20. I'm now 23, and I absolutely love my IUD! Insertion, however, was very horrific, and for that reason, I likely won't get another when I have this one removed in 2027. Nexplanon caused constant bleeding for over 6 months, so my gyno suggested the IUD, Liletta. I haven't had a period since then, nor have I dealt with spotting. I do have a very active sex life, so A++ for birth control. I'm pretty overweight and have been most of my life, and I was at my heaviest around the time I got this, so I'm unsure if the IUD itself caused any weight gain. I've managed to lose a lot of weight over time, and the IUD hasn't made it difficult! I got diagnosed with endometriosis about 2 years ago and still deal with that, but maybe once every few months. Not sure if that will increase once it's removed."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted as well as taking oral birth control after 2 surgeries for endometriosis. The insertion was almost unbearable, but my doctor proceeded to put it in. Here I am 7 weeks later, and I am STILL cramping just as bad, and I’ve also been bleeding this whole entire time. Not just light spotting, but full-on bleeding with clots and all. Not to mention I’ve gained weight, I’m constantly nauseous, and my emotions are all over the place. I feel I am starting to get a yeast infection from bleeding for 7 weeks straight."

For Birth Control "If you follow the direct instructions by your GYN before IUD insertion, it really isn’t that bad having it inserted. I’ve had the IUD for nearly a year, however, here is my list of “things.” Pro: very effective birth control, stops your period, easy insertion if you follow GYN instructions and they are experienced. Cons: I had crazy acne after insertion, haven’t changed a thing about my routine, and I’ve put on 25 lbs that is still just packing on. Due to the uncontrollable weight gain, I’m going to have to have it removed. If it were showing signs of stopping (even with my diet and exercise!), I’d keep it in because it did stop my period, but I’m still just packing it on like I’m eating McDonald’s three times a day or something. It’s so frustrating!"

For Birth Control "I got Liletta almost 2 months ago. I do have 2 children already, early 30s, obese. First experienced a really annoying spotting for about 1.5 months. Now it has stopped. I am hoping it's not related to pregnancy. If I don’t get my period for another week, I will probably take a pregnancy test. It's been a good experience once the bad cramping stopped. A bit of weight gain but I think it's manageable. I just have a problem with eating right."

For Birth Control "I had my Liletta birth control placed on Dec. 5th, 2017. It did hurt while being placed in. So far, in those first 2 weeks, I had to return to my doctors because my partner felt the string during intercourse. The doctors had to cut the string to make it shorter, and we are still having issues. I never knew what breast tenderness felt like, and I'm not a fan of it. It's very uncomfortable. So far, I had excessive acne recently and noticed weight gain, and my breasts got huge. I have to work out twice as hard now to maintain my weight, which isn't easy. I'm following up with the doctor this week, check in later with the updates."

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Liletta IUD for a year now and I have since gained 20-25 lbs, I am constantly bloated, nauseous, and vomit almost every day. I hate how my body looks and am considering getting this removed. I would try the copper IUD, but I don’t want heavy periods. One pro to this birth control is that I haven’t had a period. I did spot once or twice."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted on Jan. 2021, and it was truly the worst experience I have ever had. I was so excited to have an IUD, it seemed like the perfect solution. I just got it removed today on October 19, 2021, and it was the best decision to get it removed. From my experience, I have never felt so out of touch with myself or my body. First, I gained 30 lbs. I went from 128 to 160 in 10 months. Nothing changed in terms of my diet or workout schedule. I remember trying on clothes at a store and having a mental breakdown because I was always so bloated and my normal sizes weren’t fitting. As a woman, one of the worst feelings. Second, my emotions were all over the place. On certain days, I cried because I felt so upset at absolutely nothing, while others I was very irritable and mad at everything. It was so frustrating to have your whole mood switched and not even understand why or how to fix it. Then I had to pay $300 to get it taken out. I would never want a woman to feel the way I felt."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in April 2021 and immediately started having horrible cramps, bleeding, suicidal thoughts, depression, weight gain, and every possible side effect you can think of. I immediately got it removed, and ever since, I have been having constant cramps and back pain, which only started when I got the IUD. I was not having pain prior to, even though I had a baby in February. She was a big baby, but the cramping stopped a week after she was born. I have had two pelvic ultrasounds, an abdominal and pelvic CT, liver ultrasound, and endometrial biopsy. I’ve seen my gynecologist seven times since this started. I’m beginning to think they think I’m crazy. Do not get this! It is awful!"

For Birth Control "I received Liletta in June 2016, slight cramping at the beginning, and a period that would last a couple of weeks a month. Extreme bloating, disgusting acne, and weight gain. Then after 4 months, it came out! Had it replaced, it's only been a couple of weeks of constant light cramping, my period is now on, and I think it shifted again and is close to coming out for a second time. I'm not sure what to do if this thing comes out for a second time... smh. Small percent chance of happening? I am not so sure? I'm willing to wait but it's not looking too good."

For Birth Control "First, I noticed how tender my breasts got. It lasted for about a month. I bled for the first month too. I would wake up EVERY NIGHT for 7 months in a pool of sweat. The 2nd week I had a golf ball-sized cyst on my ovary. I had to take another birth control to calm it back down. I stopped that birth control after that was solved. Also, I gained 8 pounds, and I never did anything different. After stopping the second birth control, I had seriously painful acne. I had to use another birth control again to bring my skin back to normal. I finally took it out this week and am kind of very excited about that. I’m fine with the pill. Overall, it sucked for me, but I did enjoy not having a period for about 6 months!"

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted the 15th of January 2016. The insertion was a bit painful, but quick. Since insertion, maybe two light spells of cramps. I did bleed and am still bleeding, but very light. I'm supposed to start my first period within three days, waiting to see how that will be. I have had NO weight gain, food cravings, or nausea. I absolutely LOVE Liletta! The only concern I had was whether its effectiveness was immediate or if you had to use a backup method for seven days. I was on the pill prior to insertion, and my IUD was inserted on the 5th day of my period."

For Birth Control "I got pregnant earlier this year and decided to terminate. I wanted a birth control that I could start immediately, and my nurse recommended Liletta. I have a history of really bad cramps, but normal periods and bleeding. It's been 5 months, and I've had some irregular spotting and random cramps, none too bad though. I have gained weight, but only about 11 lbs. Overall, I'm happy with this method, no daily pills or weekly rings to remove/replace."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta in 08/2016 after experiencing a miscarriage. I've had cramping the first week, which went away, but now I have a low sex drive, acne, and weight gain. I went to a dermatologist, she prescribed facial wash, antibiotics, and suggested I remove the IUD. She also said progestin-based birth control can make acne worse. I will remove it next week. Don't use it if you don't have to."
