For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in Oct 2015, and now, 1 year later. I'd say I do like this form of birth control. The only things I hate are the weight gain and acne. I've always had some acne, but now my skin is super oily, so it's gotten a bit worse. Other than those two things, I love this. My sex drive has gone up. Hubby loves that."

For Birth Control "The Liletta was recommended to me by my OB after having to terminate a life-threatening pregnancy. I was heartbroken, and I did not want to go through the same experience again, so I quickly said yes. I have a heart condition, so I try to live a healthy lifestyle. I eat salads daily, and I exercise three times a week. I used to fluctuate in weight by 4-5 pounds at the most. However, since I’ve had this Liletta placed, I’ve gained 16 pounds in nine months without a change in my diet. Like I said, I have heart issues, so weight gain affects me severely. I made an appointment to have this IUD removed. I’m just annoyed that I have to wait two weeks! I am praying once it’s removed, I can get rid of all the weight I gained. I do NOT recommend the Liletta to anyone having health issues negatively impacted by excess weight."

For Birth Control "I've had the Liletta IUD for about 4 months now. When I first got it, I chose not to be put to sleep, and it hurt really bad and was a little traumatizing. I'm 4 months in and have no extra acne or weight gain. I've been bleeding most of the time I've had it, but they said that is normal for the first 3-6 months. I honestly think it's a great birth control for me, however, everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I have had Liletta for 7 months and it has caused me to have severe hot flashes. I am constantly hot and sweaty. It has also caused weight gain. I had lost 20 pounds after my son was born and only had 15 pounds left to lose for my ideal weight. I have gained the 20 back. I do not recommend this product."

For Birth Control "When I first got the Liletta, I was excited. I have tried to take the pill in the past, and it ended in extreme nausea and weight gain. Not to mention, I kept forgetting to take it every single day at the same time. The Liletta seemed like a great idea since it's a 'get it and forget it' type of deal. Plus, my periods have always been very light, so the Liletta stopped all bleeding for me. However, I went from 130 lbs to 165 lbs in less than four months. Nothing had changed with my diet or exercise routine. In fact, I tried a new diet plan, and every time I jumped on the scale, the numbers were higher and higher. I am extremely unhappy with how I look now. My anxiety and depression have been through the roof. I plan on getting this taken out very soon and trying another form of birth control. It is very sad considering I had so much faith in this option. But overall, every woman's body is different."

For Birth Control "Got this in at my 6-week appointment after having my son in 2016. There was some cramping and spotting, of course, but that was to be expected. After that, periods resumed as normal, my normal timing, my normal flow. Now, at almost 2 years, I think my periods have stopped completely. I'm not complaining though. As long as it does the job, I'm fine. Also, I will note that I haven't had any unusual weight gain or anything outside of my normal mood swings that come right before my period since having this in. It's almost like it's not even there, to me."

For Birth Control "I got IUD Liletta inserted in May 2016, and I'm getting it removed next week. I only got one heavy menstrual cycle in July. My cramping is bad every day, headaches. I have gained weight. I also got some skin blemish on my face, and to top it off, itchy irritation on my vagina."

For Birth Control "I’ve had Liletta for about 7 months, getting it removed. My boyfriend and I together for 4 years. It was just time to take out my Mirena (6 yrs). My doctor suggested Liletta as the exact same. 3 months in, I had severe pain in my breasts, to the point where I could not even touch them in the shower. Lasted about 2 weeks. 5 months in, I noticed weight increase. Good diet and exercise. Nothing different. My normal sex drive is high. I’m currently going on forcing myself to mentally get there about once every few weeks. But the worst part is my daily mood swings. I can wake up and start the day by being rude and continue the day barely wanting to talk to him or make eye contact. He makes me angry. And that’s not normal. He is always looking out for my well-being. It breaks my “rational” heart. I hope your experience is better. But if you experience anything like I have, please know you’re not alone. This sucks. And I look forward to being my normal happy self once again!"

For Birth Control "Because I had a bad experience with oral progesterone, my doctor suggested trying a hormonal IUD. Insertion felt awful, had to have it inserted twice in a row, and wasn't even allowed pain meds. I had it in for nine months (doctor said to allow 3-6 months for adjustment), and I think it might have permanently ruined my body. I was already struggling with a year's worth of weight gain before the IUD, but it got exponentially worse afterward. Granted, a lot of stuff happened during those months (like suddenly losing a loved one), but either way I now have giant bright red/purple stretch marks all over my (very pale) body like I'd never seen before. Not just on the usual hips/thighs/boobs, but on my upper arms and stomach as well. As a result, I never go out anymore, and when I do, I dress to hide. The period break was OK, but not enough to make up for weight gain. I'm so angry that my doctor convinced me to take this, and with IDK how I'll ever recover my self-esteem or my will to live."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta IUD about 3 years ago. Now, while I’m told anyone who gets an IUD who’s never had kids has more pain than ones who have had kids, I never expected it to be as bad as it was. I almost passed out, I was in severe pain for days. Eventually, when it went away, I didn’t have an issue with its effectiveness. However, randomly once a month I would have the worst cramps, I became more emotional than I had ever been. I gained around 70 lbs, and I tried every diet imaginable to try and lose weight, and nothing worked. And when it was getting close to the time when it needed to come out, I was having even worse cramps and spotting randomly. It worked for the fact that I didn’t get pregnant and didn’t have a period, but everything else was terrible. So I’m giving it a 5 because while it works, it’s not worth it."

For Birth Control "So this is my 90-day review. I had my Liletta inserted 4/28/17. It took me a week to start bleeding after I got it installed, since then, I have yet to stop bleeding. It was heavy spotting for the first 2 months, and the past month it's been flowing like a river. I've been going through a pack of pads per day. I gained 13 lbs... after just 3 weeks. I've since lost the weight with diet and exercise. My biggest concern is the bleeding, I just want it to stop. I've also developed a cyst on my right ovary since taking this. I'm going to talk to my doctor about other birth control options. I will give it another month, but that's it."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted at the end of June 2017. The procedure was quick, and I felt only a mild discomfort. I haven't had cramps, but for the first 4 months, I had continuous bleeding. It has finally subsided a bit, but my periods are very irregular. I never know when it's going to start. After sex, it definitely triggers a flow... which makes me want to not even have sex. Also, the worst part is that I am always hungry. I have gained at least 10 pounds. Depression has become a concern as well. I really want to have this taken out, but I don't know that any other birth control will fare any better as far as side effects."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta for 6 months now and have gained 30 pounds, and have developed terrible headaches and constant fatigue. It has also embedded into my uterus, and the doctors and I fear that they will have to do surgery, and I may never be able to have children again."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta in for 2 years. In that time, I experienced severe rectal pains for my first few periods, followed by constant extreme nausea and headaches that lasted throughout the time I had it in. I also gained 20 lbs that I could not lose despite no changes in diet or lifestyle. My breasts went from 32DD to 32H. Nausea and headaches went away after I removed the IUD. Am still struggling to lose the weight."

For Birth Control "Had Mirena 5 years, then another one 7 years, with no problems whatsoever! No periods, no weight gain, actually lost weight, had energy. Went in for another replacement and was told them switched to Liletta, but it was the same. Definitely nowhere near the same for me!! Weight gain 25+ in a year, severe migraines, reflux, acne, no energy, abdominal cramps, back pain, high blood pressure. Not to mention so much more painful on insertion than the previous 2! Just had it removed this week. Anything is better than Liletta!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Liletta for a year now. If you never had children like me, you will find the process very painful. I had severe cramping for about an hour after insertion and slight bleeding over a couple of days. My periods are very light now, basically spotting, but they last longer. My acne has not changed; I still break out around the time of my period. And I feel like this IUD might be making me put on weight or not helping me to lose it. Overall, very effective to prevent pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted 6 weeks after having my daughter. It's now been 3.5 months since insertion, and I've decided I don't like this IUD. I am tall and somewhat petite (typically 127 lbs at 5'9, weight gain was 27 lbs during pregnancy), and I have noticed that I am actually gaining back the weight I lost after the baby with this birth control. I am very cautious of what I eat and I exercise, I also intake very little carbs (I have a gluten allergy). I should be keeping weight off, however, I have gained 13 lbs since getting Liletta. I am also experiencing oily skin with acne (first time in my life), along with lower back pain, mild hair loss, and 2 months of consistent bleeding or spotting. I'll be making an appointment to get it removed tomorrow."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta placed in January 2019. I had it removed in August 2019. I did not think the insertion process was terrible, a bit of cramping, but after having kids, I thought it was not too unbearable. After I had it placed, I physically felt fine, but as a week or so went on, I felt nauseous very easily, gained weight, craved sweets, and had terrible headaches. Ok, I hadn't been on birth control for almost 10 years, so I was being patient. Anyhow, as time went on, I have had my period or spotting about 3 out of 4 weeks with a good deal of cramping, an increase in acne, and weight gain of 15 lbs! I had it removed today, which was not painful, but I'm feeling dizzy (likely my body is trying to regulate itself). I sincerely hope others have a better experience than I have had with Liletta!"

For Birth Control "Got this IUD inserted February 2016, it's now July, still bleeding, very bad diarrhea, cramps, acne, weight gain, anxiety, and probably the WORST and most often migraines I've ever experienced in my life-like every other day I have bad headaches. Getting it removed this week, can't wait."

For Birth Control "I am 43 and have two teenage children. It really hurt when inserted, but all went well. Had bad cramps for a couple of weeks off and on. I bled for several weeks, and it was not too heavy. Periods are now almost gone!! No more cramping. I have had a very good experience. I think my weight gain is from the IUD, but not 100% sure."

For Birth Control "I got it inserted in December 2015. I spotted for about a week with minor cramps. For the first 3 months, I had a cycle, but after that, I may spot here and there. The only thing is that I keep gaining weight. I have tried eating better and working out."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta inserted at my 6 weeks after my baby was born (Feb. 2019). The insertion wasn't bad at all, but the cramping and constant bleeding for months afterward was annoying. I have had several bacterial infections causing me to have a very foul smell and needing to take several rounds of antibiotics. I gained a measly 15 lbs during pregnancy, which I lost right away until I had the IUD placed. I've now gained double that back, and it's not even been a full 3 months! I'm a raging person constantly, depressed, and have no sex drive, which is odd for me. I'm also anxious and get super worried about every little thing! I have had terrible pelvic pain, which the doctors chalked up to postpartum healing, but I don't think so! As of yesterday, my lovely Liletta string got wrapped around my tampon, and when removed, it came with it, so I guess I won't have an expensive doctor appointment to have the thing removed!"

For Birth Control "Just had Liletta put in today. The procedure didn't take long, the pain was bearable but definitely did not feel good. Had some intense cramping for the first few hours, been taking 800 mg ibuprofen every few hours. I was already on my period when it was inserted, so not sure if I bled with insertion or not. Hoping for the best. I did not read up on it at all beforehand because I didn't want to chicken out and not get it, and now I have read up on it and I'm seriously hoping I did not make a big mistake. I don't need any more weight gain or acne or longer periods."

For Birth Control "I am weary of medication, so I only took two Tylenol before the procedure. It was uncomfortable, with two quick, sharper pinches and over. I did get dizzy but was able to stand up, walk, and drive home afterwards. I planned on working the next day but had to stay home due to bad cramping... on par with a very bad period. I switched to Aleve from Tylenol, and that made all the difference. The cramping subsided over the next few days (I went on a long run on day 3), but skinny jeans bothered me a bit. Now, a month in, I got my first period/spotting episode. More anything else as it's lingering longer than usual. Overall, getting it so far was way worth it. Mood is great, no headaches, no anxiety, and no weight gain, and we can't feel it."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta put in at my 6-week post-natal appointment in March 2018. The pain was so bad that I fainted at the checkout desk on my way out! Shortly after insertion, I started having 2 periods a month and constant cramping. My stomach also felt so bloated all the time, enough so that at 9 months postpartum, I was asked twice if I was pregnant again! I also had zero sex drive, sex was uncomfortable, and I just felt angry all the time when I’m normally a really positive person. Also, in the 6 months of having it, I almost gained all my baby weight back and couldn’t lose weight for the life of me. I could not figure out what was happening! Due to the cramping, I decided to have it removed and just happened to look at these reviews around the same time. I am 99% sure all my symptoms were due to Liletta. Since removal, my bloating is gone, I’m down 5 lbs, my sex drive is back, and I just feel happy again. I think I’m done with hormonal birth control!"
