For Birth Control "I got the Liletta put in about 3 weeks ago. I had started my period a day before, normally last only a week or so. Putting it in wasn't that bad, I did flinch a little but wasn't too bad. I had just had my baby 7 weeks before. It only felt like a pinch, and I was cramping for like 20 min afterwards, and that's it. I have felt a bit bloated here and there, and I've been spotting since. I'll update in about a month to see how it's going. Oh, and that same day my doctor did a sonogram to make sure it was in place, and it was. But so far, so good, just waiting on the spotting to stop."

For Birth Control "Had Liletta inserted mid-November 2016. The doctor did her best to make me comfortable and walk me through the process. First came the cold clamps that open your cervix. Then the doctor inserted something to measure my cervix to make sure the device would fit properly. This was a pinching pain coming from deep inside me. After this came insertion. The insertion felt like a combination of pinching, pushing, and pulling all at once. I cramped badly after. I had some spotting for 4 days following. I've had a regular period monthly since then. I have been spotting again recently, which has lasted over a week. No pregnancy though, and my acne has stayed about the same as with the pill. Hoping my period stops soon as well. So far, I am happy."

For Birth Control "I had mine inserted about 2 weeks ago. I was 6 weeks postpartum. Had very little spotting mostly with wiping. No cramping, and insertion was painless. However, that is probably because I just had a baby! The only thing that is bothersome is my husband can feel the strings. I can feel it poking out of my cervix too. If we can't even enjoy sexy time, I am getting it removed even though I personally love it."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted almost 10 months ago, and I’m still bleeding/spotting every day - which is ironic because I got Liletta to help me with heavy periods. I did not experience weight gain, however, I can’t seem to lose weight either (I am 39 years old, 5’1.5, 130 lbs). I went to have it removed, and my OB couldn’t find the string. It’s been a nightmare for me."

For Birth Control "I got my IUD inserted 3 weeks ago. The procedure was crampy, though I did take 600 mg of ibuprofen beforehand, so it was bearable as long as I remembered to breathe through it. It took about 10 minutes. There were some residual cramps, first light, then really bad on the drive home. Since then, I have been spotting/lightly bleeding. For several days last week, it was heavier, so I assume it was my period? Previously, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen pills, and they told me to finish up the pack I was on, so I did, and that's when the heavier bleeding started. Now I am back to lighter bleeding/spotting, but I hope it stops soon. Normally, my periods are 3 days max, so I'm not used to this and frankly tired of it!"

For Birth Control "The insertion of Liletta was quite painful for me, and I was taken into another room to lie down after I came close to passing out. The first day, the cramping was moderate but was gone by the next day. I had Liletta inserted while on my period and did not have any extra spotting besides what I normally experience. The first couple of weeks, I only had maybe two spotting episodes that lasted a day or so. My biggest complaint was the moderate daily cramping that I took care of with Motrin and a heating pad, however, since I got my first period with the IUD, the cramping has subsided. My period has changed quite a bit, it is lighter but lasts a bit longer than usual. So far, I'm enjoying the IUD, and hopefully, the cramping and spotting go away soon!"

For Birth Control "Got it 12/19/17. Very negative experience. I had a very heavy flow and very painful cramps, so went for Liletta. Insertion was SO painful. I continued to have cramps all day and for the next few days. Still have random cramps and spot EVERY DAY. Got BV, and spotting isn't always light, it can be very heavy. Used to have high libido: 3 weeks in, I LOST my sex drive. I RARELY get slithers of sexual desire, but they subside very quickly. Am in a new relationship, and I'm SO attracted to him, but still NO sex drive, and I used to orgasm very easily. It's harder now, and for the 1st time: vaginal dryness, extreme mood swings, and depression. Broke down 3 weeks in. Everything overwhelming, most emotional I have ever been. I have a mass increase in anxiety. Beware if you are prone to mental health issues. Constant headaches, and the 1st time I got my period on the IUD could NOT move = cramp pain. Gained 10 lb the 1st month, caused stretch marks for 1st time. Tomorrow I am finally getting it out. Will update y'all. Pros: Not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've had Liletta for maybe 6 months now. I have had mild cramping that I never got before birth control. My periods are not as heavy and only last a couple of days. I actually love it so far. The only bad thing about it is that I spot more often between periods, and it can be annoying."

For Birth Control "Everything started out well. A little cramping and spotting the first few days. But no cramping since. I started my next cycle on time, but it hasn't stopped!!! It's been 10 days, and I'm over it. Hoping my cycle will end soon. ;/"

For Birth Control "I did my Liletta insertion during my menstrual cycle, and my doctor said that's fine 'cause the insertion will be easier since my cervix or uterus will be more open, and I did feel a tiny pinch. The nurse held my hand during that part, and after that, it was over. It took five minutes, and then I went home. Because I had my period when I got my Liletta inserted, cramping and pain were normal for me, but afterwards, spotting is still there, and I have mild cramps and back pain. I am in week 4, so it's still too early for me to say if I like it, but for now, it's on and off, but I am not bothered. I know everyone is different. I have 3 children, so I don't plan to have any more, and I am 30, so this birth control works for me for now."

For Birth Control "I had a history of very heavy periods, and a coworker suggested an IUD as birth control because it helped her periods (she didn't have one at all!). Insertion was very painful for a short period of time. I delivered 2 babies without pain medication, and I'd say it was equivalent to a very strong contraction for about 1 minute. After insertion, I had irregular spotting for a month or so. I was hoping for a lighter period since mine was making me anemic. My period stayed the same! The IUD strings poked my husband during sex too. They trimmed them, but it still happens. In one year, I've gained 15 lbs, have worse anxiety and depression, and my skin is terrible. I'm getting it out soon and getting a uterine ablation and my tubes tied."

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old, maybe 5-10 pounds overweight and overall healthy minus the horrible periods I had been getting for years (the pills didn't work for me... they messed with my thyroid). I got the Liletta yesterday. Impressed so far. I took misoprostol (cervical ripening pill) 3 hours before, ate a good meal, and took 600 mg Motrin about half an hour before insertion. Yes, it hurts. I hate pain but I could deal with it. Feels like a horrible period cramp for a few seconds, maybe 1-2 times. I was able to drive myself home right after. Cramps were painful and my back ached for about 6 hours after insertion. Had some diarrhea, but that could've been because I ate Thai food before. I was barely spotting too. Today is day 2. Cramping is very light and I don't really need Advil. Bubble baths, yoga poses, and heating pads are working just fine. I am used to horrific period pain, so maybe this just isn't bad for me. Hoping everything will continue to go this way!"

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta 3/13/17. Insertion was as explained, some discomfort and cramping. I was advised to take ibuprofen before my appointment, which I did. It took a little longer than I thought, but it wasn't that bad. I've only used the pill as BC (to control my period). I was on the mini pill since 2/2016, and I stopped having periods 5/2016. I've always been interested in the IUD and was told to give this a try. I felt a little discomfort the first few days because I felt like I could feel it, eventually, it went away and I forgot I had it. I started spotting for a few days (expected) and then a period, which felt like 2 weeks, and I've been spotting ever since. The spotting is light, but it's annoying for obvious reasons, thinking of getting it removed next week."

For Birth Control "Ok, so I have had Liletta a little over a month... but the insertion wasn't awful like I scared myself into thinking it would be. I mean, anything being put up there is likely going to hurt, and someone's pain tolerance can be a huge factor on how much it hurts... but for me, it wasn't bad. I got it put in the second day of my period, and it literally stopped my period by the next day. I have had no spotting, no cramping, or any other issues, and when the next month came due for my period, no period and no pregnancy either, as I took a couple of tests just to relieve my mind. Personally, it's been great for me, and my husband has loved that it seems to have given me a better sex drive as well, since that was a regular problem with other birth control before switching to this. Obviously, everyone will have different reactions to any medicine, but I really recommend giving it a try if someone is looking for a more long-term birth control that they don't have to think about as much."

For Birth Control "Okay, so I've only had Liletta for 5 days now, but let me tell you it is like it's not even there. I feel like a lot of the bad comments are due to the gyno that they choose to go to. Do your research first, call the office and ask if they have experience putting IUDs in, what you should know beforehand, and how long the doctor that will be doing the procedure on you has been doing it. During the procedure, it HURT like a lot, and it kept hurting. But me not having kids and not being on my period didn't really help. After, I took some Tylenol 3, put on a pad, and drove home. That day, I had mild cramping and spotting. The day after was like nothing happened. 5 days later and I don't even remember that it's there."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted about a week ago, after 3 years of being on Depo. I was extremely nervous and took 800 mg ibuprofen. Insertion went so fast. It’s not so much pain, just discomfort/strange invasive feeling that is very short. Honestly, it feels cold in there, lol. I cried my eyes out after the speculum came out, not in pain but in relief that it was over. Let your doctor know if you have anxiety! The rest of the day I had mild cramping and I had very light spotting that went away the day after. The cramping was easy to deal with and subsided after about 2-3 days. A week later-no spotting, no cramping, however, I feel so much better mentally. I’m less bloated! My face and tummy get bloated easily and that’s really gone away super noticeably! To anyone considering it, the mild discomfort was totally worth it for me, someone who has GAD. I’m also a major hypochondriac, so my advice to you-tell your doctor about every single concern/question/anxious thought you have."

For Birth Control "I've never given birth, and I just got home from Planned Parenthood. Wow-the insertion was 100X easier than I thought after reading these reviews. Seriously, not that painful-just relax! I'm cramping a tiny bit and spotting, but it's fine. I'll update in the weeks and months to come, but the insertion was honestly so easy. I did swear once out of pain, which is pretty moderate for me. I took 0.5 mg of Xanax (I have a history of panic attacks) and 800 mg of ibuprofen 45 minutes before. Highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted on 09/29/16. The insertion was painful, almost as if I was being stabbed multiple times. I had horrible cramps for about 2 hours afterwards and was sore the next day. I'm experiencing light spotting throughout the day, and it's very annoying. I'm also noticing a lot of acne (my skin has been always clear before Liletta was inserted)."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted six days ago. I would rate the pain for the insertion 6/10, but it wasn't that bad. I didn't feel them hold my cervix, but the measuring and the insertion were reasonably uncomfortable. I felt super crampy the rest of the night, but woke up the next morning feeling normal. Have spotted just a little. Tomorrow it will be fully effective. It's already much easier than remembering to take my pill every day. No other side effects."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta put in immediately after having Mirena removed (literally within a few minutes). I had thought I was getting Mirena replaced with Mirena, but they didn't tell me until it was already out that they didn't carry Mirena at Planned Parenthood where I live. This was January of 2021. It is now February of 2022, and I have gained more than 40 pounds despite working on my eating and workout habits. On Mirena, I never had a period (for 6 years!), and now I spot monthly. It's been progressively getting worse. I never dealt with cramps on Mirena, but now I feel that awful pain. I began really noticing changes 4-6 months in regarding my moods. I thought it was just stress and tried to put it off, but I'm now having crazy mood swings. I'll be angry and emotional out of nowhere. I feel bad for the people in my life because this is not me, and I am not like this. It never occurred to me that it could be from my birth control, but now I know better."

For Birth Control "I just had Liletta inserted yesterday afternoon, so I can't really say too much on the effectiveness or any side effects just yet. However, I can tell you that the insertion process was a little intense, but nothing that I couldn't handle. Just remember to take some painkillers/anti-inflammatories before and after, breathe & relax, and the process will go much smoother. I love my gyn, he did an amazing job on making me as comfortable and informed as possible. He even made me laugh during the process, which helped to ease the temporary pain of insertion. This was my first IUD as a form of birth control, aside from a slightly uncomfortable insertion process, I would recommend this. Since yesterday, I've only experienced mild cramping/light spotting."

For Birth Control "I received the Liletta in October 2018, and I am getting it removed in April. I absolutely can't stand this damn thing. It is the worst decision I made in life. I originally got it for the sake of not having my period. Well, that was a lie. When I first got it, I bled for almost three months straight. But I didn't want to be a sore loser, I said I would stick it out. My life has been nothing but a spot show. All I do is spot, even for up to two weeks at a time. Yes, it made my periods lighter, but it's like I have not stopped bleeding. It is awful, and I can't wait to have it out of me. Someone referred the Junel birth control pill to me, and I think that is what I am going to try. I cannot wait until April, I'm over this thing!"

For Birth Control "I'm happy and unhappy with this birth control. The pain of insertion was fine for me because it was fast, and the doctor said I wouldn't feel it as badly because I just had a baby 4 months ago. Reasons I'm happy with Liletta - doesn't make me moody or sad like the pill did, no breakouts other than what I had before, which are 1-2 hormonal pimples per month, and I can't feel it. Unhappy - got it 5 weeks ago and have spotted pretty much every day since. My first period was longer and heavier. I get random cramps, especially after a workout, and it is annoying. My check-up is next week, and if the doctor doesn't think my spotting will stop within the next 2-3 weeks, then I will be taking it out. Hate worrying about spotting every day."

For Birth Control "I had this particular IUD placed on Monday. So I've only had it for a day. I have had a child and also have endometriosis. I experienced mild pain during insertion, 4-5/10. I had a lot of cramping and uterine spasms yesterday after it was put in. My Dr. says that it will help with my symptoms of endometriosis and obviously prevent pregnancy. Today being the 2nd with this IUD, I have had intermittent cramping. My cramps seem to be worse in the evening, I guess because I keep myself occupied during the day with work. My cramping is nothing that ibuprofen doesn't help. I have had spotting and was not in my period during insertion. I have felt a bit bloated, but that's slowly starting to resolve. I would recommend this device."

For Birth Control "It's now been about 6 weeks since I got Liletta. I had heavy spotting until the middle of last week when it finally lightened up! Now I've had 3 days spot-free. I'm hoping this means my cycle has started to regulate. I'm still very nervous about using it without a condom, but so far, it's been a decent experience! I'm still a little emotional and am really hoping that will subside."
