For Birth Control "Got this in at my 6-week appointment after having my son in 2016. There was some cramping and spotting, of course, but that was to be expected. After that, periods resumed as normal, my normal timing, my normal flow. Now, at almost 2 years, I think my periods have stopped completely. I'm not complaining though. As long as it does the job, I'm fine. Also, I will note that I haven't had any unusual weight gain or anything outside of my normal mood swings that come right before my period since having this in. It's almost like it's not even there, to me."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta for 8 and a half years as part of an IUD study. I loved my experience. Insertion was painful but bearable, and I did have bad cramping and spotting for probably 2-3 weeks. From there, all symptoms started to subside, and within 4 months, my period stopped coming altogether. I had no period or cramping for the 8 years following, no pregnancy scares, and no side effects. I only had it removed because the study was ending, and I'm sad to have had to take it out."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta IUD about 3 years ago. Now, while I’m told anyone who gets an IUD who’s never had kids has more pain than ones who have had kids, I never expected it to be as bad as it was. I almost passed out, I was in severe pain for days. Eventually, when it went away, I didn’t have an issue with its effectiveness. However, randomly once a month I would have the worst cramps, I became more emotional than I had ever been. I gained around 70 lbs, and I tried every diet imaginable to try and lose weight, and nothing worked. And when it was getting close to the time when it needed to come out, I was having even worse cramps and spotting randomly. It worked for the fact that I didn’t get pregnant and didn’t have a period, but everything else was terrible. So I’m giving it a 5 because while it works, it’s not worth it."

For Birth Control "Okay, so I got my Liletta 4 days ago. I've never had sex, never had birth control, and the only pain I had (which was really 75% discomfort) was the speculum and having to have my cervix widened/dilated. I didn't go on my period, and I went without any ibuprofen. Why? I really don't know, but regardless, still wasn't that bad. But I have a high pain tolerance, and everyone's body is different! Day 1: moderate cramps like usual, light bleeding. Day 2: spotting, slight discomfort. Day 3: slight discomfort, no cramps. Day 4: light 'one drop' spotting. Yeah, I would recommend this!"

For Birth Control "Update. I love this IUD. My husband only felt it once, which was the only issue I had with it. Then, after that one time, nothing was felt. I only spotted when wiping the first 2 weeks, then it stopped completely altogether. I also did not have any pain with the insertion. However, I was 6 weeks postpartum, so that could have played a huge role. I have had it for 3 months now, and it is the best."

For Birth Control "I got this IUD inserted immediately. My period started in October, it was so painful, but I guess I have a low pain threshold. Anyway, my only problem with this is I basically bled from the time I got it inserted, some days heavy, other days spotting, with cramps that I have never had before (and I have never had kids) till my next period. It was after that period that all cramps and spotting stopped. So far, so good. I think I am supposed to be having my period now, but I'm barely even spotting, I just have mild cramps. For the three months I have had it in, I can say minus the first rough month, I am really loving it... so convenient. And I haven’t gained any weight or had any acne problems. Aside from the occasional cramps, I wouldn’t even remember it's there."

For Birth Control "Since there are so many negative reviews, I wanted to share my experience. I had Liletta placed on 6/9/17. It was not the most pleasant experience, but my uterus is not shaped or positioned normally, so it was more difficult (had to do it twice). However, while it was uncomfortable and a bit painful, I think if they hadn't had to adjust so much, it would've been no huge deal. After insertion, I had cramps that were more like contractions for a few hours, then they slowly calmed down, and I felt kind of uncomfortable for a couple of days. I also bled moderately for the week after, then spotted daily the second week. Now, all has cleared up, so I'm hoping it continues, if it does, this is awesome! So far, so good! Everyone is different!!!"

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted 6 weeks after having my daughter. It's now been 3.5 months since insertion, and I've decided I don't like this IUD. I am tall and somewhat petite (typically 127 lbs at 5'9, weight gain was 27 lbs during pregnancy), and I have noticed that I am actually gaining back the weight I lost after the baby with this birth control. I am very cautious of what I eat and I exercise, I also intake very little carbs (I have a gluten allergy). I should be keeping weight off, however, I have gained 13 lbs since getting Liletta. I am also experiencing oily skin with acne (first time in my life), along with lower back pain, mild hair loss, and 2 months of consistent bleeding or spotting. I'll be making an appointment to get it removed tomorrow."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted August 26th, 2019 (one week ago). It was some real sharp pain going in, and I was not a fan. I was definitely glad to have the day off to go nap off the shock feelings of being dazed and crampy. It's been great ever since I woke up from that though! I was really nervous about weight gain as I am quite skinny and have always been, but no signs of anything different yet. Slight spotting every now and then, but that's it. I will update as time goes on, and we'll see how this goes (so far would recommend)"

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta in March 2016 after I had my daughter. The procedure wasn't too painful for me and was quick. When I first got it, my periods were light and I had spotting here and there. Since November of 2016, my periods have actually stopped. Personally, I love this birth control and I'm glad I got it."

For Birth Control "Six weeks after I had my baby girl, I had the Liletta inserted (02/01/2016). The insertion was no more painful than a Pap smear or vaginal exam. I'm loving it so far, experienced some cramping the 1st day but not since then. Now I gave this a 9 because I started bleeding on the 7th day post-insertion after having sex the 4th day, and I'm still bleeding today (02/18) with no signs of slowing down, and it's annoying me. I keep getting spotting on and off since insertion, but I'd take that over the bleeds."

For Birth Control "I got it inserted in December 2015. I spotted for about a week with minor cramps. For the first 3 months, I had a cycle, but after that, I may spot here and there. The only thing is that I keep gaining weight. I have tried eating better and working out."

For Birth Control "Took an 800 mg ibuprofen an hour before insertion on the 2nd day of my period (I always spot on the first day). Insertion didn't hurt, it felt like a pap smear. I was nervous for no reason. I usually get really bad heavy periods, but the day after insertion my period went straight to spotting and minor cramping. It's going on 2 weeks, and I'm still spotting. My gyno told me it's a normal side effect and to give it time to adjust to my body. I get cramps every day, but nothing I can't handle."

For Birth Control "Been on various birth controls since I was 15 due to painful periods and anemia. My first 2 experiences with birth control were with the pill, I was on the 3-month kind for around a year, and after the first cycle, I had constant spotting, and on my final scheduled period before changing, I bled so bad I passed out. Never had kids before, and I'm a very tiny person (5' 5" and 105 lbs), so my doctor was slightly worried about the pain, but we still decided this IUD was what we wanted. I'm going to be honest, it hurt like anything to get put in, and I did end up throwing up a few times throughout the day, but after day 3, I was fine. Been 3 months now, and I've had no period and never been better!"

For Birth Control "I was 9 weeks postpartum when getting Liletta. I opted to not get any cervical dilating meds because my cervix should’ve still been a little open and soft. I didn’t have a period after the baby because I was breastfeeding exclusively, and bleeding stopped a week after giving birth. The day of the procedure, I got up, ate breakfast to prevent nausea, and took a pain pill 30 minutes before the procedure. I still, however, had cramping, but it was light, and so was the spotting. The measuring of the uterus took the longest because mine is a bit tilted. The procedure took 10 minutes total, even with ultrasound to make sure it was placed correctly. I was good to go and able to continue my regular activities. A year later, still haven’t had bleeding. So far, everything is going well."

For Birth Control "I didn't take any meds before insertion. It was quick. I did feel a pinch. Afterwards, cramped a few times. Lasted only about 30 minutes. Spotted for a few hours. Was able to drive home. I have had it for 1 year. No complications. Still have a menstrual cycle but not my normal 8 days. Now it's sometimes 3, sometimes 4. It doesn't bother my sex life."

For Birth Control "This IUD was inserted last month. To prepare for insertion, I visited this blog and others like it and, unfortunately, was scared half to death by some of the reviews. I understand that everyone has a different experience, but my goodness, I was definitely prepared for the worst. A reviewer suggested taking ibuprofen beforehand, and I heeded their advice. My OB and several staff members reassured me I would be fine because they all have Liletta as well. During insertion, there was discomfort in the form of a major cramp. The entire process lasted about two minutes, and I was done. I did experience cramping once the painkillers wore off. The next day, I felt better. I have experienced light spotting and mild cramping occasionally. However, these symptoms have not affected intercourse. Hope this helps those who may be nervous or uncertain. Always do your research."

For Birth Control "I got the IUD put in on March 24, 2017. I was on the Depo for almost 7 years. I just decided I needed something new. But the insertion hurt. It was the worst pain ever. I cramped real bad, felt so weak as if I was about to pass out. I recommend not going to work after. I had cramps for weeks straight. But no bleeding. Now I can say I have a cramping spell once a day, it's rather annoying. Lately, I have been having a lot of brown spotting/gushing like it's blood, but it's very faint and brown. It hasn't been as bad as when I first got it. I'm trying to give it a chance."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD inserted two months ago. Insertion was very painful, but the experience took 5 minutes altogether. The pain following didn't last longer than a day. So far, I've noticed my periods last a lot longer, before the IUD, they would last 5 days. Now they last 8-10. I also spot almost every single day. Both of these things are manageable, but if I wasn't single, this would interfere with my sex life. Benefits: I don't get crazy mood swings like I used to on the pill, and I don't have a lot of hair growth on my body, it seems like my hair doesn't grow as fast. Cons: I'm very frustrated this month because I've developed cystic acne along my left jaw, cheek, and forehead, and I can't lose weight, whereas before I could."

For Birth Control "I got my IUD on May 11, 2017... The insertion was extremely painful, I almost passed out! I have been spotting EVERY SINGLE DAY since then!! It's very annoying to have to wear pads and/or tampons every day. I don't know what to do anymore."

For Birth Control "I chose Liletta because I wanted something that I wouldn't have to worry about for a long time and don't trust myself to take the pill at the same time every day. The insertion was painful but was very quick, and the cramping subsided with ibuprofen. I have now been on it for about a year and a half and had some issues. When I got it in initially, I bled for about 3 months straight and sometimes still experience random prolonged spotting. I also went to the ER with severe pain in my uterus and had tests done to find absolutely nothing wrong. I have had testing done since then to make sure, and still everything looks fine. Other than that, it has been pretty good, but I don't feel that it is worth all the worry it has caused me and will be switching."

For Birth Control "Just got it removed less than 10 mins ago after having it for a year and a half! My doctor tried to convince me to keep it (like she always does), but nope, not this time! It’s too DAMN annoying. Excuse my language. I got my period every month on time, and it always lasts for like two weeks! After I FINALLY go off, there’s this foul odor that doesn’t want to go away no matter how many times I’ve showered, soaked, used prescription gels, summer’s eve’d, shoot I was trying everything! Endless Google searches! So basically, all month long I’m dealing with something. The spotting is also very random, and it’s annoying. I’m trying the one that goes in my arm... because I’m done with Liletta. PROS: I’m not pregnant... *shoulder shrug*"

For Birth Control "So I just had my daughter 1-25-17, and I got this 6 weeks after having her. Mind you, I was still having some bleeding after having my daughter. I had 2 weeks after having her, then I had my period, then I had spotting, and now after having this put in 3-17-17. I have NOT stopped bleeding. It is now going on a full month of constant annoyance, and every time you think it finally stops, it comes back heavy. I hate this. It is an annoying piece of plastic."

For Birth Control "I went on the Liletta July 17th, 17. I was told I needed to be on my period when I got on it, and I did. Insertion was absolutely painful, and I could barely walk after. I got medication to help open up my cervix, and I completely forgot all about taking it, but they told me it would be okay anyway. I took 600 mg of meds. My doctor also numbed me. I'm 23 and have had one child vaginally. I went to work the next day, and the pain was so bad I almost passed out. The rest of the week was completely unbearable. I was kneeling over in pain with horrible cramps. Week 2 was okay, occasional cramping here and there. This is week three. I started spotting on the seventh, and on the 8th I was still spotting. On the 9th, I was full-blown bleeding a week early."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta nearly four months ago to the day (12/8/16). Despite a rough start, things seem to be leveling out now, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Insertion definitely hurt, but if you take some ibuprofen prior to it, the pain shouldn't leave you too miserable. I already had really heavy, painful periods, so my first period on it was a special sort of hell. I also had weird, intermittent spotting and cramping for the first 2-3 months, but by March, things started to lighten up. Cramps can now be treated with an in-pants heating pad, and my flow is but a trickle. I reckon my period will stop altogether within the next few months. If you can tough out the rough start, it's worth it! Doesn't last as long as the others, but still gets it done!"
