For Birth Control "Please keep in mind everyone’s body is different, so my experience won’t be the same as everyone else’s. I chose to go on birth control after enlisting in the Navy. While I’m happy Liletta is an effective method, the side effects are a bit overwhelming. Initial insertion was one thing; cramping for a day or two, then continuing along; however, I didn’t stop spotting until four months after the fact. I frequently suffer from vaginal dryness and infections, experience pain every time I have sex, and have had major depressive episodes. I suffered from PTSD and depression beforehand; however, this significantly magnified the effects. Now, after almost two years, I’d like to try another form of birth control. It’s an amazing “get it and forget it” method, which I truly appreciate for the convenience of, but I just don’t think my body is reacting well to it. Still recommend for anyone without a history of depression or susceptibility to vaginal infections."

For Birth Control "Was very nervous for the insertion, but it was all a breeze. It didn't hurt so much as just some cramping for like 2ish minutes, and then a little achy for the hours after insertion. I did take 600 mg of ibuprofen, which was probably useful. I spotted for a couple of hours after insertion, but not too bad. Will see how I handle the side effects (if I get any). But so far, so good! Love the idea of not having to worry for 3+ (if Liletta gets FDA approval) years."

For Birth Control "I had it put in yesterday morning. Didn't hurt a bit, just became very dizzy after insertion and needed to sit down, felt cramps but ibuprofen helped to eliminate that, had some bleeding yesterday, today just some brown spotting. Too soon to tell, hopefully the spotting will stop soon and periods altogether. I feel like my lower pelvis is a little inflamed or something is in there, but maybe it's the cramps... I have reduced ibuprofen, I'm only taking 200 mg, hope to not have to take any tomorrow."

For Birth Control "Placed Mirena several weeks after a C-section. I had it for 4.5 years and zero issues. It stopped my period, and I never had cramps. Took Mirena out, had a failed pregnancy, and decided I was not ready to try again. I went to my doctor, who recommended the Liletta, saying, 'it's the same thing.' Seconds after insertion, I was extremely nauseated and in incredible pain, cramping/bleeding immediately and had the shakes for roughly 2 hours. Fast forward 3 months, using panty liners every day due to constant spotting. It wasn't even bright fresh pink/red spotting. It looked like old dried period blood spotting. Cramps off and on 4-5 days a week, with weekly occurrences where it physically hurt to sit up straight. Pro: did not get pregnant. Con: everything else."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta in 2015 after my 3rd child. The first couple of months kinda sucked as my body adjusted... random spotting, cramping, periods, although much lighter, lasting 8-9 days. After the first few months, it was great! I still got my period every month, but it was very light. Normally, I suffer from very heavy periods. The cramping was still there, though, and my boyfriend said he could feel the strings during sex (but that's the doctor's fault who put it in didn’t cut them short enough, I guess). After 2 years, I just had it removed because it was slightly out of place and causing me pain. It didn't hurt to get it removed, but I started bleeding super heavy the very next day. OB says it's normal. Hopefully, periods don't go back to heavy. :("

For Birth Control "I was VERY conflicted on the idea of getting an IUD. Got Liletta yesterday. I'm in my early 20s, virgin. I literally was undecided until the hours leading up to my appointment whether or not I'd go for it. Well, insertion was a 7.5/10 on the pain scale for me, but you know what? Eh, I lived. Broke out into a cold sweat during the procedure and took a solid hour to feel normal again, but the worst of it was 1) measuring the uterus and 2) the cramping in the ~10 minutes immediately after insertion. The actual insertion I barely felt. Took 660 mg naproxen for the cramping, it promptly went away and has not returned. Some spotting yesterday and today, but was able to go about normal activities that same night. Even exercised this morning."

For Birth Control "I had been having issues with the pill, forgetting to take it and decided to switch to an IUD. I had it put in March 25th, 2017. Insertion was excruciating. It felt like someone was stabbing me from inside. It was very quick, and I felt faint and weak the rest of the day. Motrin and ibuprofen worked to ease discomfort after. I went in the middle of my period (usually 5 days), and within a day of insertion, my period turned into 2 weeks of spotting. It's now been about 2 months of adjusting. Sex is fine, just need to be careful not to cause uterine spasms. I know I will get my period because there is about 1 day of irrational crankiness, followed by another day of cramps, which are sharper than ever before. Hoping this will level out soon...."

For Birth Control "I am 21 years old. First time on birth control, although I had looked into options before but decided I wanted to have a baby. I had a miscarriage a month ago. Now I don't want to have a baby so close after, so I needed a B.C. method I wasn't going to forget (pills) or have to go in regularly for (depo), so this seems like a good fit. Insertion was painful, but it only lasted about 2/3 minutes and felt like sharp pinching/poking. I feel some cramps (not too bad) and some spotting. I read other women went when they were on their period. I still hadn't had my period again, but when I do, it's moderate and lasts about 4 days. I get more cramping than bleeding. I will update with how it affects my period or if cramps continue because this is just day 1."

For Birth Control "I was on the pill for years, and wanted something different. I tried the ring and hated it, so I decided to get over my fears of the IUD. Honestly, the insertion wasn't as bad as what I read. It felt like the worst period cramps, and I couldn't do anything about it, but it didn't last long. I had some spotting for a few days and slight discomfort. But after about three weeks, I completely forgot it was there. My periods have been light and a little late, but I'm still only two months in. I will get bad lower back pain once my period is coming, but it's nothing that I can't deal with. Overall, there are some drawbacks, but compared to other birth control methods, this is definitely something I recommend and will be keeping."

For Birth Control "Absolutely love this IUD. I had severely heavy and long periods (changing tampon and pad every 30-45 minutes for two weeks every month) while on many different types of pill birth control, so I decided to get an IUD. The first 2 months were frustrating because I had heavy spotting and heavy periods, but then my 3rd month was a little better, and my 4th month, I didn't have spotting or a period, and it's been great since. Every month I still take a pregnancy test just to be sure, and they've all been negative, so I would definitely say it's doing its job. I went to Planned Parenthood to get it, and it was much more affordable than Mirena."

For Birth Control "I rushed into getting an IUD. Didn't do enough research. I spoke to a few people who have IUDs, and they love them. Well, I hate mine. It was the worst pain I've ever felt when I got it inserted. I've had it for about a month now, and I haven't stopped spotting or bleeding since I got it. I have random cramps and back pains. I feel bloated, and I have major mood swings. I have my monthly follow-up appointment tomorrow, and I'm thinking about having it removed, depending on what my doctor says."

For Birth Control "Had my sonogram check-up today at 2.5 weeks post-insertion. The IUD was exactly where it should be. I told my doctor I had experienced some pretty intense pain/cramping on my right side near what I assumed was my ovary. He told me that was the implant 'getting in place' and was pretty normal. I've never had painful periods, so my experience for what is normal is fairly limited. And although the pain was at times intense and nauseating, it was very quick. The cystic acne I reported on day 3 (see earlier review) has subsided and was explained as androgens flooding my system. Spotting is minimal, and some bloody discharge when I urinate. No pain during sex or high-intensity workouts. So far, the discomfort was worth it. :)"

For Birth Control "After I had my son, I got Mirena. After it reached its expiry, my doctor recommended Liletta, and I love it. I got it in fall of 2016. The insertion was the same as Mirena, it feels like a bad cramp, probably lasted about 5-10 minutes, no nausea or problems the past year. Occasionally, I will feel it during sex depending on the position Hubby and I are in, but we just switch positions. Periods went away. I'll get moody or have occasional cramps/back pain every few months, I'm assuming for my period, but that's it. I started spotting once a few months ago at night, barely anything, but no bleeding."

For Birth Control "This was my first experience with an IUD. The insertion part was quite painful. It took 5 minutes, and I cramped about 2 hours after. No bad headaches and light spotting. I returned to work the next day. Oh, and ibuprofen helped a lot."

For Birth Control "I had it inserted in early May. 5 weeks after giving birth to twins by C-section, but dilated a full 10 cm. Insertion wasn't painful at all. Bleeding heavily for a week after it was put in, after that, I've been spotting ever since. I have horrible cramps that feel like light labor pains. Trying to give my body a chance to adjust to it & also looking at other options in case it needs to be removed!"

For Birth Control "I have had Liletta for a little over a month. The insertion was very painful, and I have a high tolerance for pain. I didn't know how I was going to drive home, but I did somehow. I had planned to try to go back to work that day - HA! I was bedridden the next couple of days with horrible cramps. Note I have been on a hormonal BC pill since I was 18 and am now 26. The cramps became manageable after about a week, but I still had to take ibuprofen every day. Now I am spotting every day, which is really annoying. I'm looking forward to the time when I will be cramps and spotting-free and enjoy it for a few years, and then I will probably go back on the pill."

For Birth Control "First-time mom, 8-month-old baby. Liletta inserted on Oct 19th, it’s now Nov 14. Insertion was a VERY uncomfortable pinch, a lot of pressure in my stomach vs. where I thought I would feel it in my cervix. My Dr. had me cough during insertion, which distracted me, BUT I realize the 4-6 ibuprofen I took before getting it made me feel less pain because when the meds wore off ... dear gawd ... the discomfort and cramping was unbearable. Instantly regretted my decision and vowed to have it removed. I even went to the ER to have an ultrasound out of fear it was misplaced. The cramps, low back pain, discomfort, and pain jumped from one ovary to the next, made me miserable for about 4-5 days. Things got better, but spotting since Oct 25 and weird smell."

For Birth Control "I had my illegal IUD inserted about 2 weeks ago so far, and I am not as happy with it as I had hoped, but it's still very early on. The insertion was a breeze compared to how the last two weeks have been. I have had severe pressure, cramping, soreness, and even sharp pinching pain in my ovary area to the point I couldn't sleep on my stomach. Then when I had intercourse for the first time since having it inserted, everything was fine until we were in a certain position, and I let out the most blood-curdling scream. I have no idea what happened with the IUD, but I'm 100 percent sure he must have put pressure on it in a certain way that pinched inside of me so bad. I have to say it ruined the moment. I’ve had light spotting ever since the insertion."

For Birth Control "I am 18, diagnosed with a small cervix, and I’m a virgin, and I got the Liletta IUD 2 days ago. At first, I was extremely nervous because all the reviews of the insertion seemed to be very negative, but so far, my experience has only been positive! I had the actual procedure done at Planned Parenthood, and it only took about 7 minutes. It was painful for a few moments, but it honestly wasn’t worse than getting my eyebrows threaded. I had moderate cramps for about 3 hours after, but nothing that I couldn’t handle with some ibuprofen. I even went out the same night I got it and was able to go to the gym and work the next day. I continue to have light spotting, as expected, but overall, I have loved it so far. I will update once I’ve had it longer."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta a month ago. I took one ibuprofen for insertion and one after insertion. It was painful, but definitely not the worst thing I've ever felt. Similar to getting my eyebrows threaded. So far, I've experienced no other side effects, the spotting stopped a few days ago."

For Birth Control "I have been on Liletta for 3 months now. The insertion was painful but not unbearable, be sure to get it inserted on your period and take some pain meds before you go. So far, I really like it. I don't have to think about BC when I have sex. As for side effects: 1. The spotting was horrible! But I fixed that with some Advil (research ibuprofen to stop IUD bleeding). 2. I do feel extra moody or sad sometimes, but nothing too crazy. I feel moody right before my period. 3. I do get odd mild cramps every now and then, but again, nothing crazy. I tried 3 different BC pills before, which gave me crazy side effects within months 1-2. I used to use the Caya diaphragm, which was all natural but too much work. I like this IUD so far. I gave it an 8/10 as it has only been 3 months. I do still get my periods-which are now 10 days long! I hope my period regulates in the months to come."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta inserted about a month ago. I would describe the pain I felt from it as similar to the intensity of passing a stone from my gallbladder. However, the pain lasted less than 2-3 minutes, and insertion was about 5 minutes. I have never given birth. I have had spotting and cramps on and off 3 weeks after insertion. Now I'm on my period, and I will admit it is heavy but less crampy. I do find this IUD very effective. I also like this much more than taking a birth control pill. The pills made my blood pressure increase and caused absolutely horrible bloating. I'll take spotting and slight cramping throughout the month than what I was going through with the pill any day."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted after 3 years of being on Depo. Insertion was painful but not too bad, caused some mild cramping for a few days. All was fine for the first few months until I saw a rapid decline in my mental health. My anxiety is terrible as it is, but Liletta made everything worse by causing countless physical symptoms. My back hurts 24/7, headaches, spotting that doesn’t go away, long periods, cramps, bloating, and that’s just a few. Not to mention the strings have gotten lost in my cervix and into my uterus, causing me to have to get ultrasounds to check if it’s in place. I’m not myself anymore, I'm so moody and have lost my sex drive too. I’m getting it taken out and going back on Depo. It’s definitely not for everybody. At least I didn’t get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I just finished having my Liletta removed after two years in. I originally got this IUD to help with my heavy flow, which consisted of 8-12 days long. After insertion, I bled/spotted for about 6 months. After that, my period would come for about 3 days and would only need to wear panty liners. However, my last year, my period was all over the place, and I began to feel some side effects. For example: lethargy, spotting, cramps, breast swelling, nipple tenderness, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and weight gain. My period was also impossible to track, if I could guess, I would say I had a period of 3-4 days twice a month at random times. I removed it this week, and I feel better, I lost 3 lbs so far, my sore breasts and nipples are gone, and most importantly, I feel happy."

For Birth Control "I've had Liletta in for almost 3 weeks. I got it put in the day of my last cycle. Insertion was extremely painful, and I cramped so bad that I was unable to move. The pain was intense and lasted for two days after insertion. Since having it in, I’ve had extreme on-and-off cramping daily, mild spotting, and my skin has been breaking out. It’s my fertile week, and I feel like I’m on my period. I tried having sex a week after insertion, on the one day I wasn't spotting, and it was extremely difficult for me to even stay wet (which has never been a problem). Sex was also slightly uncomfortable. I’m trying to wait a while before deciding to remove it, but it’s honestly causing issues that I’ve never experienced before."
