Levofloxacin for Sinusitis "This med has been effective, but it has caused such bad joint stiffness that I can barely walk. My back, knees, and ankles are in extreme pain. I also feel very dizzy and like I'm going to faint sometimes, really bad gas, and constipation. And the fatigue is unreal. I can't seem to make anyone understand. I still feel sick now, but in a different way. If I had not been so sick, I would not have taken this again. This has been my third Levaquin experience. I just can't do it again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have neuropathy, dizziness, headache, nausea, tremors, insomnia, muscle soreness, depression, lightheadedness, severe fatigue. I could go on. I'm angry the doctor would prescribe this drug to me after telling him my medical history (lupus & SCA 2 ataxia, a very rare hereditary neurological disorder) for my first UTI. He didn't try another type of antibiotic first. This is poison!"

For Pneumonia "After blood work, X-rays, and a CT scan, it was official that I have pneumonia. I was prescribed 10 days of Levaquin. I am on Day 3 and just started feeling a little bit of relief. I think this is a great antibiotic to fight off pneumonia, however, my only complaints are dizziness and insomnia. I hope I feel more improvement."

For Bronchitis "I had bronchitis and a lower respiratory tract infection. Levofloxacin is a strong drug that, within one day, cleared up congestion in my right lung and bronchitis. I took this after a course of azithromycin failed. Side effects I experienced could be attributed to infection (dizziness, fatigue, and soreness)."

For Bacterial Infection "I'm experiencing extreme dizziness, hallucinations, anxiousness, insomnia, and vision problems. I am on day two of this medicine, I'm discontinuing it. I can't sleep, and it's making me feel worse than my illness. Calling doctor for something else. I'm terrified at this moment."

For Middle Ear Infections "I took 1 levofloxacin 500 mg pill. Got very disoriented and dizzy. It only lasted a few hours, but then the tingling and pins and needles came. It lasted all night and has spread all over my body, starting with my extremities. The second day, I developed leg weakness, and the tingling and pins are worse. I read the symptoms could get worse even after the med is stopped, before you get better, if you even get better. This has poisoned my system, and I only hope the damage doesn’t get any worse and I start to recover. Don’t take it!!! Whatever your infection is, it isn’t worth permanent nerve damage!!!!"

For Bronchitis "Symptoms I had: coughing fits producing green mucus, rapid heartbeat, temperature, muscle tightness/pain, wheezing, headache, shallow breathing, tight chest. I was prescribed 10 days of 500 mg/day. The symptoms began to fade after 5-6 days. Side effects occurred after 6 days: extreme insomnia, laying in bed for 7 hours straight with no sleep and only sleeping for 2-4 hours (dizziness and confusion, but this may be from lack of sleep)."

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "I was prescribed 500 mg for 10 days for acute bronchitis, sinus infection, as well as a very painful ear infection. After the first dose, I did feel a bit better. The second dose marked a big difference in how I was feeling overall. I was also prescribed a very expensive inhaler of Albuterol. (Rarely use) The third day was when I noticed that the side effects were now more of a problem than my illness. Metallic taste in my mouth, severe dry mouth, leg cramps, no sleep, rise in BP and HR, dizziness, and ringing in my ears, agitation. I am on day 5 and do not want to finish the prescription but was warned, 'take it completely... even after you begin to feel better.' The only positive off-chart effect is my skin is glowing!"

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "I have noticed that I have a difficult time sleeping, but the worst thing is the yeast infection. My doctor said this almost always happens on this medication with women that have a tendency to get one, so you must decide if it is a necessary evil. I hate antibiotics as a whole, but feel a bit better after only one dose. I have been taking it at night because I was afraid of the dizziness and other side effects during the day."

For Pneumonia "I was on a 10-day, 500 mg prescription and could only make it through day 7 before requesting a change in my antibiotic. I had a wide range of side effect symptoms that left me hardly able to function. Severe muscle pain, especially in the back and lower leg (which I am still suffering from and hope the leg pain isn't tendon weakness, which is also a side effect), horrible dizziness, nausea, insomnia, nightmares, and if I got too hot or too cold, I had to immediately lie down. The dizziness was the worst, it felt like I had ridden a carnival ride for hours on end just turning my head. By day 7, my symptoms from pneumonia were only slightly better."

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "I feel better after taking this medicine for 5 days. I am experiencing some dizziness and a lack of appetite. I'm not feeling as much improvement as I hoped I would by this time. Sleeping well still and no hyperactivity. I do notice lots of tenderness in my Achilles tendons on both sides. We will see after 5 more days. I got the medicine for bronchitis, 500 mg for 10 days."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This medication helped with my urinary tract infection. After taking my first dosage, I felt great, and I was prescribed for 10 days to take it. I am on my 9th day, tomorrow will be my last dosage, and I have been having light-headedness, dizziness, and lots of constipation."

For Pneumonia "Taken 750 levofloxacin for two days, and I've been very dizzy. I've been vomiting, I cannot eat, and my head feels like it's going to explode. I cannot get any relief when trying to go to sleep. I see writing on the wall, it's almost like an old movie reel going real fast with numbers. I got up to use the restroom, I feel like I can't stand without feeling like I'm falling. I have been in bed for two days, I cannot get up, I feel better lying down. I cannot take my other medication after taking this antibiotic."

For Sinusitis "I took number 5 pill today of a course of 8 pills for a sinus infection. And I am scared and done. The side effects are horrible: nausea, dizziness, headache, jittery, insomnia, leg pains, heart palpitations, weakness, sensitive to heat. I can't even stand the hair touching my neck or the shirt near my neck. Absolutely horrible medication! Am hoping it all goes away now that I am stopping it!"

For Pneumonia "Was diagnosed with pneumonia, low-grade fever. My doctor told me to take this medication for the pneumonia, so I took it in the morning after I ate some toast and oatmeal. Went home, went to the bathroom at 7:30, and I almost passed out. I was so lightheaded and dizzy, it was unreal. I managed to get out of the tub, sit down for a little while, and then I started feeling a little bit better. But then, I lay down, and as I'm laying on my back, I feel a little bit dizzy. I'm not feeling well, and I can't sleep. I almost feel like since I've been on this medicine, I'm worse, before, I didn't feel as bad."

Levofloxacin for Sinusitis "I started taking Levaquin about 12 hours ago. My muscles are very weak, I'm dizzy, restless, didn't sleep last night, and having a very hard time focusing. I'm sure this is a great drug if you need to go to these extremes, but it's a little much for me. I'm calling the doctor to get off of it this morning."

For Sinusitis "This medication will absolutely be different with each individual... no doubt. I hope more folks understand that with any/all medications have side effects; however, the benefits normally will outweigh the risks. Diagnosed with a sinus infection after an MRI on my neck. Let me make a long story short because my symptoms are too broad to go into details... 750 daily po for 2 weeks. I'm extremely dizzy, I'm confused, I'm restless, I'm plain beat down. I've yet to see anyone on the highest dosage for sinusitis-except myself. Come on now-two weeks? ..and I'm still coughing after one week. Mind you all, I take this med at the same time every day with pretty much all the symptoms most have experienced (but even more). Question: anyone with similar experience?"

For Bronchitis "I was given this medication at 500 mg for 5 days from an emergency doctor. This is day 6, and I am just now able to walk across the room without intense pain, nausea, and dizziness. I am sore all over and weak, I have not been able to go outside due to the sunlight. I have 2 more days before I can go out in sunlight. I did not know this the first day I took it. I went to the prescription shop, and my skin felt like it was on fire while I was in the car. I have had night sweats, intense pain in my arms, shoulders, back, legs, and abdominal pain. Also, check drug interactions before taking anything else. It is not recommended to use aspirin or other painkillers with this drug."

For Bronchitis "Horrible!!! Anxiety, dizziness, insomnia, I've been off this drug about a week now, and I'm still dealing with the side effects. Shaking, trembling, I can't even get out of bed, and if I do, it's not for very long. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRUG."

Levofloxacin for Prostatitis "Been taking Levaquin for about 33 days, and to be honest, I have had different side effects, from anxiety to joint pain to dizziness to feeling lethargic to muscle/tendon discomfort. My prostatitis has gotten better, from 16.6 to 7.8, from the start of the antibiotics to about 2 weeks. So I will see if, after I take the full course, it dropped my PSA level within normal range."

For Bacterial Infection "I was put on levofloxacin 500 mg for 14 days. I had a headache and dizziness each day. On the 13th day, I blacked out on the kitchen floor, hitting my head, shoulder, and hip, I wasn't hurt. On the 14th day, returning from the bathroom to the kitchen, I passed out again, falling over my walker and landing unconscious on the kitchen floor. My son-in-law found me in a pool of blood 15 minutes later and called an ambulance. I regained consciousness when the EMTs were loading me on the gurney. In the ER, I received 6 stitches above my left eye and was told I had blood on my brain. I was hospitalized for 6 days."

Levofloxacin "I was prescribed to take this for 10 days. After 5 days, I could not handle the side effects I experienced. I was so exhausted, but the medicine made me so dizzy and nauseous that I couldn't sleep. And when I did manage to get a few hours, I had the most vivid and bizarre dreams. I was also taking Flagyl and developed oral thrush. I would not take Levaquin again."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I found this medication to be a rough one. I don't usually have problems with antibiotics like Z-Pak or doxycycline, but this one gave me unrelenting dizziness from the moment I woke till the moment I went to sleep, loss of appetite, and ultimately, after 5 days of taking it, began to cause feelings of pressure in the back of my head. The doctor seemed quite concerned about the head pressure and switched me over to Cipro, which gave me absolutely no side effects at all. On a positive note, this antibiotic did begin working against my pseudomonas skin infection almost immediately. But Cipro seemed to work just as well."

For Bacterial Infection "I already suffer with anxiety, but these pills made it 10 times worse. All I thought the whole time is, “Am I going to die?” “I feel like I’m dying.” So, in other words, it gave me negative thoughts, which is no good. Day 6 was the last one I forced myself to take because I didn’t want to be taking them for nothing. I still continued to have back pain, abdominal discomfort, headaches, tension headaches, dizziness, and my ribs felt extra heavy, or I don’t know how to describe it. This back pain and rib pain lasted 2 weeks after I stopped. Now it’s been 3 weeks, and I felt my leg feeling tight, but it went away. Now I feel pain in my arms, coming and going. I also had lower back pain and higher back pain. My heart rate is going up and down. I have dizziness also. I didn’t know these pills would do all this. I’m 20 years old, and I’m a female. Every day is a new symptom, even though I’m not on it anymore. They were super expensive."
