For Urinary Tract Infection "Took one 250 mg tab of levofloxacin at 6 p.m. yesterday and am still experiencing side effects 18 hours later. My symptoms are reduced but are replaced with a 6 out of 10 on the pain scale-stomach ache. I have nausea, heart palpitations, dizziness, headache, and joint aches. I've called my doc back today to see about getting an alternative med. I will not take another dose of this medication."

For Pneumonia "Age 63. I developed pneumonia from a respiratory infection passed on from my wife, the school teacher. Once a day, Levaquin knocked out the pneumonia in 5 days, and an X-ray on day 7 showed my lungs were clear. On day 9, I developed tendonitis in my shoulder replacement that had been in place for 3 years. I was prescribed a high-power NSAID by the orthopedic surgeon. After 3 weeks, I turned out fine."

For Sinusitis "I've been taking Levaquin for a sinus infection. I am on only my second dose, but yesterday after taking my first dose, I felt immediate results. Much less nasal discharge than in the days and even hours prior. I had no problems with sleep, in fact, that night was the first time I slept through the entire night in weeks, without even waking up to go to the bathroom."

For Bronchitis "I've been taking Levofloxacin for bronchitis (5 days, 750 mg), and I think it's helped a little bit, but it's day five (last dose tonight), and I still feel only a little better than I did before I started. Maybe it's a virus or something, so it isn't responding? Oh well. The biggest problem I've had is the side effects: not as bad as what most people have been talking about (knock on wood), but I have experienced severe, severe nausea and also insomnia. I take it at around 6 p.m., and the nausea usually goes away by the next afternoon. I started taking it with food and also drinking a probiotic, and it seems to be helping a little, though I still feel a bit sick. The insomnia is pretty bad!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am a 27-year-old woman and was prescribed Levaquin 500 mg for 7 days (by my OB-GYN for a suspected UTI post-surgery-I had a D and C). I hardly ever have UTIs. My Levaquin, with insurance, was $55. I do not take pharmaceutical drugs regularly, but I figured since this was post-surgery, I should do as the doctor says. I read the drug pamphlet before taking the pill. On day 3 of taking Levaquin, I started muscle twitching in my right middle toe. I researched reviews of this drug on the internet and stopped immediately."

For Sinusitis "After being sick for three months and experiencing everything from lung atelectasis to confusion, bleeding nose, and extreme headaches, my doctor put me on Levaquin. It is midday on day three of taking 500 mg once a day. I feel a little lightheaded, and my hands are shaky, but I am starting to feel a bit better. Shaky hands and lightheadedness are nothing compared to pleurisy, collapsed lung, and bleeding infected sinuses. Recommended."

For Bacterial Infection "This drug did rid my body of an infection in my blood. However, tingling in my feet became complete numbness below my ankle bone when I finished 10 days of pills. This became a big deal as years went on. Without the feedback from my nerves, my feet developed sores, bones in my feet broke and healed incorrectly because I didn't know anything was wrong, my balance has gotten worse. This complete nerve death/neuropathy developed into Charcot foot, and my feet started collapsing and are becoming very deformed. Levaquin is one of the worst things that ever happened to me."

For Pneumonia "750 mg dosage for five days apparently cleared pneumonia, but now, six weeks later, I still feel some side effects of pain and swelling in ankles and feet that immobilized me immediately after taking. Additional side effects included internal bleeding in the ankle area, black toes, areas of skin on the lower leg showing bruise-like areas. Difficulty walking due to stiff and painful joints in feet and ankles."

For Sinusitis "Saw a PA for a sinus infection secondary to bronchitis and acute asthma. Prescribed Levaquin daily for 10 days. After the 2nd day on it, I noticed severe right shoulder pain and mild left shoulder pain. I did not make the connection until day 7. I called my pharmacist and was told to stop taking the medication. That was 6 days ago. I now also have pain in my right bicep. I had just finished a course of steroids for my asthma, which may have made me at increased risk for this side effect. Good news is my sinus infection is gone. The public needs more info on the side effects of medication."

For Bronchitis "Just want to report my experience after just one dose. I was prescribed 7 doses at 500 mg for bronchitis. I went to the doctor because the cough I had was resulting in a suffocating feeling after the cough. I was in bad shape. After just one dose, the cough is not so devastating-certainly no longer feels like I am suffocating. Although I slept real good last night, I do indeed feel fatigued today. Now editing this comment after the full 7-day use of this medication. I didn't realize until the 4th day of use that I was experiencing the 'dizziness' side effect that can result from use. That is the only reason this medicine doesn't get a 10 rating from me. It really knocked out my infection. However, the dizziness was indeed bothersome."

For Bronchitis "I have a very bad bout of bronchitis. I'm on day 5, and I don't feel markedly improved. The coughing is not quite as often, however, when I do cough, the phlegm feels thicker, and the coughing spasms are more violent. It could be because the Mucinex is now wearing off. I just had higher expectations. Now I'm nervous because I don't feel like my condition is improving. And the sound and feel of the mucus is a lot worse, but no side effects."

For Kidney Infections "After two days, I started to feel better. The pain in my kidney, caused by the infection, decreased and disappeared after two days. It is very important that you take the pill at the same time each day, and I was late a couple of hours a couple of times. Overall, it worked well for me, with no side effects."

For Bronchitis "I have been on this antibiotic for 6 days for pneumonia, and while the cough has slowed way down, I am having severe chest pain. I am thinking it's because when I do have a coughing fit, it's violent, brutal. I only have one more dose at 500 mg, and I am worried I'm relapsing, though no high temp. I feel almost like I started out. I am now trying herbal teas, garlic, rosemary, and kombucha. I just started these, so I'm praying it will all work as a team. No side effects, only a little queasy!"

For Sinusitis "I was given Levaquin for sinus. I am now disabled with complete body-wide nerve damage. This drug has been black-boxed by the FDA. I was contacted by the FDA after filing a complaint. My records were used to complete the warning. Do not take this or any other fluoroquinolone antibiotic. My life has been ruined."

For Sinusitis "I rarely get a sinus infection. If I take Levaquin for 10 days, I am well. Most Dr.'s will not prescribe it. They give you weak antibiotics that don't touch a sinus infection. My physician knows me well. I have never had a problem with it. Drink plenty of water and juice."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This last Monday, I was detected by my doctor that I have an acute cystitis. My doctor prescribed me Lavoprolaxicin Levaquin for 6 days. My nightmare started on day 3 when I couldn't even get up from my bed. I was sore all over my body. I couldn't even walk. Only I took 4 pills, and I feel that my life changed to the worst for this medication. I went to the ER, and they gave me fluids to at least clean a little bit of my system. I got a CT scan of my kidneys, bladder, liver, and all results were normal. If doctors know those side effects, why are they still prescribing this medicine? It's poison! I'm still panicked! I have faith that everything will be normal again. Today is my day 1 without the medication. I'm walking better."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed Levaquin after suffering for 2 weeks with a severe cold and sinusitis. The Levaquin took care of the cold, but I got such severe tendonitis in my right ankle the day after stopping a 10-day course of it that I couldn't even touch my foot to the floor. It has improved by staying off my feet and icing - ice is really your friend here - but almost two months later, I am still icing and wearing a brace, and now the pain has migrated up my leg. But the real problem is that I have breast cancer for the second time, and the doctors do not want to operate until my body is infection-free and inflammation-free. My son's way to ice is the best: ice the spot with a cube until it has completely melted."

For Bronchitis "After a bout with Levaquin and fluoroquinolone, I developed muscle weakness and muscle tears. This medicine can result in muscle and nerve damage. I have put Levaquin, fluoroquinolone, and Cipro (been allergic to this for years) on my medical chart as an adverse reaction."

For Pneumonia "Adverse reaction to Levaquin. Extreme numbness and tingling in my fingers and toes, ongoing dry mouth. First prescribed a few years ago for an infection. After complaining about the numbness, I was told to discard them and given another antibiotic. Went in this time for pneumonia and was given a tablet before I realized this was the same medication I had an adverse reaction to before. Experiencing the same reaction after only one tablet, it's now 3 days later."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Less than a year ago, I was a healthy, athletic person and had a full-time physical job. After 4 days on this medication, I began to suffer side effects and quit taking it. Now my life is ruined. I can't walk, I'm going blind and deaf, and I live in constant pain as if somebody took a sledgehammer and pounded my whole lower body, and my condition is worsening every day. The side effects of fluoroquinolone poisoning are a horrible way of slowly dying. By the way, it didn't do anything for my supposed UTI. A couple of days of drinking cranberry juice did the trick."

For Sinusitis "My doctor prescribed me Levaquin, 750 mg for 7 days after amoxicillin didn't do the trick. I had the sinus infection for almost a month at this point and was willing to try anything. I took the Levaquin with prednisone the first night and had an intense anxious reaction to the combo - my pharmacy recommended I stop the prednisone, so I did. The anxious feeling subsided, and within 12 hours, I could feel my head pressure go away. However, on the second day, and until now (on the 5th day), I've slowly felt new side effects. Mainly, fatigue, achy knees and shoulders, and I wake up in the morning feeling like I'm burning from the inside out. I would recommend it to help sinus infections, but warning, the side effects are real. Hoping they go away!"

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed Levaquin 500 mg 1x/day for chronic sinus infections. On day 8 (of a 10-day prescription), I woke up feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. Every tendon in my body hurt. Even the tiny ones in my fingers. It took me until the next day to realize it was the Levaquin causing this (no doctor or pharmacist had warned me). I threw out the day 10 pill. This was 3 months ago. For the first two weeks, the pain got worse. I was unable to walk for a week. After that, it gradually began to subside, and I began to be able to walk, albeit very slowly, again. I spent about a month on bed rest. I just saw an ortho yesterday, and she is optimistic about my progress. She said it may take about 1 year for me to heal. I am about 85% better."

For Pneumonia "The doc prescribed Levaquin for pneumonia. After the sixth pill, I was no better but a lot worse. Had him run a lipid profile and my lipids were off the charts! The doc was scared, me too. Put me in a Z Pack and all was well in a couple of days."

For Sinusitis "I have been so blessed to start using Levaquin. I have been sick for 1 month so far. I thought it was a cold, but I couldn't recover. After 2 weeks, I took a Z-Pak for 5 days, and my symptoms got better, and then it came back. So, after 4 weeks of sickness, I started the Levaquin, and after the first dose, my ear infection that I also had at the same time was healing quickly. The second dose had me feeling so much better that I believe this sinus infection will be gone soon. Yeah!"
