Leuprolide for Endometriosis "I have severe endometriosis and adenomyosis and am scheduled for a hysterectomy on Jan 29th. My doctor wanted me to get a couple of Lupron injections so that I can have some pain relief as well as experience some of the symptoms I will be dealing with after my surgery. Well, it's been 3 weeks since my first (and LAST) injection. I have night sweats every night as well as a full aching headache all day long. The headache goes away with Tylenol or sleep but is back the very next day. So I'm hoping the headaches stop once this horrible drug is out of my system. Didn't have headaches until I got this injection!!"

Leuprolide for Uterine Fibroids "Received a 3-month injection 8/20 for heavy bleeding due to fibroids. Did not stop bleeding/spotting until the middle of October. Now I need another dose, and the price jumped from $10 (promo fee) to $1,100-$3,000. Needless to say, I cannot afford the next round. Also had a headache for the full 3 months. However, my doctor said it did shrink my fibroid enough to get the ablation I need."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and endometriosis at 18 years old (very early to find). I've suffered 4 years of this before I got diagnosed until eventually I was rushed to the hospital from the pain. My only option was Lupron Depot shot, I got the 11 mg one. Worst decision of my life. I am thankful for having 100% coverage because it would've been a waste of money. I feel sad, depressed, anxious, it's awful. I already have depression and anxiety. I feel like I'm going through withdrawals, I get heat flashes. The pills they give, what they call Norlutate, didn't help the symptoms, I've noticed they made it worse. I had headaches every single day. I wouldn't recommend this shot. I'm still having period pain, and it's been 3 months."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "Within one week of starting Depot Lupron, I was struck with severe headaches and fatigue. Muscle and joint pain set in, and sleep became impossible. I have had no relief from my endometriosis pain. Pelvic pain is daily and constant. Dull aches in my lower abdomen and sharp shooting pain through my colon. Even with add-back therapy, I have had hot flashes and severe waves of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I wish I had never gotten it. This is the second time my doctor has put me on this 'medication' with zero results or relief from my symptoms. I only feel worse. It has made me and my relationship suffer. It's not worth it."

Leuprolide for Female Infertility "Extreme headaches! Lupron - I started the medication 5 days ago, and starting on day 3, I began getting really bad headaches, and it doesn't seem to ever go away. I cannot take Advil, so I'm not sure if that would help. I tried taking a nap, but I wake up, and it's still there. Never had this problem before, so I'm certain it's the Lupron. Other than that, I have no other complaints."

Leuprolide for Precocious Puberty "My daughter took 2 doses of Lupron Depot-PED, and she started with side effects such as headache, seizures, hand shakes, muscle pain, loss of equilibrium, and focal epilepsy symptoms. After 4 years without medication, the side effects are still active. She was hospitalized in intensive therapy due to the seizures for 10 days."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "I've only had one dose of Lupron; before going on it, I did my research. One side effect is horrible insomnia (which I have). I know not every single change in my body can be blamed on the Lupron. I have endometriosis, and the Lupron basically puts you in a state of menopause. Headaches, insomnia, sweats, and mood swings were very bad the first couple of weeks; now my stomach hurts! So I think I can pick and choose what the medicine is responsible for and what the state of chemical menopause is doing to me."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "My experience on this drug mirrors that of Albert Owens. The side effects are truly awful, no energy, no sex, headaches, no sleep. I am either sweating or peeing all night. Deep depression, anxiety, nausea, memory loss, legs swelled, 2 stone weight gain around the middle, no quality of life left. I must agree with burned-out wife also because my wife feels just like her, and it is not nice. I have over another year on this stuff. I am happy for the men it has worked for, bless them, but for myself and others, it can be a nightmare. Take care and good luck to all."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "Got first shot Jan 2012. Side effects: night sweats, hot flashes, headache, and muscle ache all bearable, but hot flashes have interfered with sleep. Just got 2nd shot this week, 4-24-12. Have sore throat and headache, seem to be more agitated and irritable. Hot flashes are a bit worse, and headaches are coming back. Overall, if this is the gist of side effects, all worth it to make sure cancer, if spread, does not come back. Had hysterectomy Nov 2011 and found cancer in uterus. Doctors said it was contained to uterus, but for safety precautions, put me on Lupron."

For Precocious Puberty "My son used only 2 doses of leuprolide 11.25 mg in the year 2016. After the first dose, he experienced for 6 months (headache, nausea, 20 pounds weight gain). After the second dose, he experienced shaking hands, seizures (10 days required hospitalization), strong blurred vision and double vision (3 years), frequent seizures that were confused with epilepsy (1 year), balance trouble while walking, muscle weakness, strong muscle pain, myoclonus (4 years up to now). A DAN test was conducted, but no muscular or genetic disease related to symptoms were found. He is still experiencing strong damages from side effects. Leuprolide was stopped after the second dose. The epilepsy diagnosis was dismissed. Not recommended to use in kids or teenagers."

Leuprolide "I took this drug when I was 8 years old, to stop my body from going through early puberty. I’m now 19, and I can say this drug has ruined my life. I have extremely severe depression and pain almost everywhere. My thyroid doesn’t produce anymore, I have had a headache almost every day since then, and my joints are in a lot of pain. Please, for the love of God, only take it if it’s your final resort. The only thing positive I can say is that it technically did its job, but for me at least at a severe cost."

For Uterine Fibroids "I have been taking the Lupron shot for fibroids. I was bleeding so heavily I was wearing diapers, I could not wear pads anymore. When I suffered my sixth stroke, I told my doc, "Look, you are not putting me on any blood thinner until you fix the problem down there." The first shot, I bled afterward for like three days, but not as heavily as I normally would. My next shot is in July 2018. The first time I took the shot, I had mood swings, hot flashes at night, headaches, and sleeplessness. It takes you on a journey, but my fibroids are shrinking tremendously. The newest side effect I discovered is swollen gums. No fun. Do what you can to preserve your smile while taking this drug, or you can lose your teeth. I used to have a beautiful smile, now that is gone. The only drawback I have."

Leuprolide "I had a 1-month dose of Lupron last year, and I seemed to be fine with it. I was just given a three-month dose, and it’s not been good. I’m over 5 weeks, and I’ve had headaches ever since the injection, not sleeping great, irritated, tired, etc. I wasn’t expecting to feel this way. It’s done the job of stopping my period, as I’m going to be doing an IVF transfer. I do have endometriosis, but I don’t have issues with it, never even knew I had it till I had a laparoscopy. I would say read about the medication, make the best choice for you. If I were to do it again, I would take it monthly, then you have more control. Once it’s in your body, you can’t reverse it. Having headaches and taking pain meds every day isn’t fun, I hope it gets better. Good luck, everyone."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "I would never recommend this medication to anyone! The disclosure of the side effects isn't truthful. There are some serious, debilitating side effects that are not listed for this medication. I am the unfortunate patient that is experiencing the 'rare' side effects that weren't disclosed. I am suffering from short-term memory loss that gets worse every day. I never had anxiety problems until now. I shake/jittery and have tingling/numbness in my fingers, feet, and face. My nails are very brittle to the point I had to cut them all off. I am also losing my hair. I am severely constipated. My appetite is curbed, and I am losing weight instead of gaining it. And the headaches are terrible! Not worth having these side effects!"

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "Just got my second 1-month Depot shot yesterday. I can't say I like it, but it's also not terrible. I have had hot flashes at night or sometimes during the day. I wake up more often at night, usually because of hot flashes or sweating. I am not used to feeling warm, I rather feel cold quickly. Kind of nice to feel warm actually. Definitely not horrible. Didn't gain any weight so far, had definite some sugar and carb cravings, but switched to a sugar-free, low-carb diet and feel much better on it. Also, working out daily helps. I've had one real breakdown moment a couple of weeks ago, but I am also in a difficult life-changing situation, so I wouldn't completely blame it on the drug. However, that was one day, and then I was feeling okay again. I've had joint pain in my elbows and a few headaches (I never have headaches), and I feel vaginal dryness. Definitely felt increased libido the first two weeks. All in all, not too bad. No idea if it's working yet, but I'm hopeful and would do it again."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "Almost as soon as the injection of Lupron Depot 3.75 was administered, I experienced the most horrible night sweats hourly, making sleep impossible, burning palms of hands, raised pulse, and headaches. Two weeks after the injection, I experienced pain in knees, difficulty in crouching, walking up and down stairs, increased pain in joints, hands, and feet."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "My endometriosis pain did go away with the Lupron! However, I had major side effects! Swollen eyelids, nausea, exhaustion, joint pain, headaches, and my last symptom was hip bursitis, which I then stopped Lupron! Three months later, my endometriosis pain is back, and now I have hip bursitis in both hips! Climbing upstairs is agony for me! Between my knee pain and hip bursitis, my legs feel like they are going to give out completely! I’m praying this isn’t permanent for me!"

Leuprolide for Precocious Puberty "I have a slim body type, small breasts, and only reached 5 feet. I took the Lupron injection for many years. I am now 22 and deal with irregular periods, chronic headaches, chronic neck and back pain, and weakness. I’ve experienced episodes of numbness, tingling, and confusion. It’s frustrating to not know whether these are long-term effects from the Lupron injection when other test results have come back negative. It feels like a dead end to receive some kind of relief and live a normal life."
