Ibandronate for Osteoporosis "Took Boniva (generic) for 2 months. After the first dose, on day 2, started with chills, body ache and fever. On day 3, started having severe upper abdominal pain. Doc prescribed a pill for acid reflux, which helped after about a week. Took second dose, again body aches, chills, fever of 101. Will NOT take this drug again. Terrible!"

Ibandronate for Osteoporosis "Have been taking Boniva for about 8 months. I thought all was well but twice since starting a monthly dose, I have had 2 episodes of severe rash and swelling on my face. The second time it happened, I had 2 days of fever and back pain. As soon as the fever broke, the rash appeared. I went to the ER, and the next day to a specialist, it was that bad. Will have to discontinue use."

Ibandronate for Prevention of Osteoporosis "I took my first dose last March 1st, am standing up. I was taking other supplements for calcium, and I followed the OB GYNE’s instructions as well as the one inside the package. I had breakfast 2 hours later and took my other supplements an hour later. In the late afternoon, my voice started getting hoarse, then I was having heartburn extending to my back. I thought it was just reflux, but despite taking my reflux medication, it never went away, instead, it aggravated. At 9 pm, I could hardly move my body and had diarrhea. I slept on my tummy, and when I woke up at 11 pm, I was feverish, and it was very difficult to get up. I thought I would be paralyzed... seriously! I was rushed to the hospital and was confined for 2 days. While at home, I still have slight chest pains and pain in the joint between my left arm and shoulder. This drug is sold at a very high price, and the adverse effects even cost me more!!!! I will never take this again and would caution my friends from taking it!"

Ibandronate for Osteoporosis "If you are considering this drug, be advised: I took my first and last Boniva oral tablet on 8/20/19. Today is 8/24, and it is my first day without a severe headache, chills, and fever between 100.5 and 101.2. I had stomach cramps with any food or drink. I felt like I had been poisoned. The drug insert tells you about 'flu-like symptoms', however, it fails to tell you that you may run a fever for four days. My body's reaction said it all. Not worth the risk! I plan on taking the nutritional route."

Ibandronate for Prevention of Osteoporosis "I took my 1st dose of Boniva on a Sunday in case I had any side effects I would be home. On Wednesday morning (2:00 am) I woke up with severe heartburn, which felt like a heart attack. The pressure on my chest was real. I took an alkaline seltzer, but it didn't help. At 5:00 am I started vomiting, had a fever of 101 degrees, stomach pain, back pain, and a severe headache. Tried drinking flat Coca-Cola for the stomach, which was better, but the achiness was horrible. My pharmacy gave me a sheet with side effects but didn’t state it would happen 3 days later. Glad I don’t work and didn’t have plans that week. I will never take it again. I will double up on my natural remedy first. Horrible medicine. Shouldn’t even be allowed on the market! Only my opinion of the drug. Good luck to others that use this."

Ibandronate for Osteoporosis "My osteopenia worsened to osteoporosis after taking Tamoxifen for my breast cancer { hx of breast cancer since 2008 }. I was prescribed by my MD to take Boniva due to my B/L hip osteoporosis since last year. It's only this month that I had the courage to take it. I took it last Sunday at 6 AM, and after dinner on the same day, I felt terribly sick: flu-like symptoms with low-grade fever that started at 8 pm. I thought I got COVID. Monday came, and the chills were gone, but I still had a 100.6 fever and body aches, plus GI upset. My abdominal pain was terrible, like sharp pain (terrible spasms that come and go every 10 minutes), either when I was at rest or moving. Today is the 4th day, but no improvement with my GI symptoms. An additional side effect today is a bloated stomach now. I reached out for the help of my GI doctor, and he prescribed me an anti-spasmodic tablet which has helped a little bit. True enough, after reading all these comments, that Boniva is awful to the body. One dose is enough for me."

For Osteoporosis "This was the worst drug I have ever taken. I advise everyone that is prescribed ibandronate sodium to read all the side effects and take it on a day your doctor will be in the office! About 4 hours after my first dose, I was stricken with a headache so severe I almost went to the ER despite the coronavirus overrun. It was that bad. The severe nausea and diarrhea hit me about 5 minutes later. I ran a fever just a few minutes after that. The next day I broke out in hives and had severe itching even in areas without hives. The next day, my tongue looked scalded. The day after that, my tongue was covered in huge white blisters. I have been sick and had severe diarrhea for 27 days now. I’ve also had some jaw pain and just pray my teeth are ok. I am unwilling to try anything else that is supposed to last more than one day unless it has an antidote. This is awful. If my account scared you, I’m sorry, but don’t be as naive as I was!!!"

For Osteoporosis "The first month I took this, I had a severe headache, body aches, and my joints felt swollen. Ran a fever for about 24 hours. I went ahead and took the second dose a month later, and none of the previous symptoms appeared. Third month, a headache, chills, and slight fever for about 12 hours. I will continue dosage and monitor."
