"I'm used to Norco 10/325, and I take four a day due to my job and major back problems. I switched to Hysingla ER 40 once a day, and it hasn't helped at all. I'm still in pain as I lay here, and I haven't even noticed anything from the medication, it's like Tylenol or something. You're better off with almost anything else. Good luck to others."

"I have horrible low back and hip problems. I have been taking Hysingla for several years now. It doesn't alleviate all of my pain, but it helps enough that I am able to function. Without Hysingla, it is difficult for me to sit, stand, and walk. I would recommend it to others. Keep in mind that everyone doesn't respond to medicines the same way, so they need to work with their doctor to find something that will work."

"My doctor changed me from being on Norco 10/325 to Hysingla ER, and they keep lowering my dose. In my opinion, the Hysingla doesn't work as well, and the pain keeps getting worse. Why are doctors cutting medicine doses down on people who are in real pain, just because so many others sell their meds and lie about pain."

"I'm having a terrible time with the Hysingla. The 40 mg was so strong I couldn't function. I've been on 30 mg for a week. The headaches, I'm tired all the time, cramping. Overall, I feel like crap. I have nothing for breakout pain but Tylenol. I understand why doctors prescribe this because of abuse, but I have only taken what's prescribed. It's bad enough that I'm actually on a forum complaining."

"I have CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome), which is one of the worst chronic pain conditions known to man, and I get a lot of relief from this medication. Prior to Hysingla, I was prescribed Opana ER until it was taken off the market, and I must say I'm thankful for the change. I like the fact that it works without making me feel 'drugged.' The only downside is constipation that requires daily doses of laxatives. There aren't many extended-release choices, but hopefully, more options will become available soon for people that aren't getting relief from Hysingla."

"I have been taking Hysingla 40 ER for approximately 2 weeks. I am experiencing a severe headache, nausea, and the pain has not subsided one bit. I have tried taking this medicine at different times of the day, hoping it was just the time frame. I have severe withdrawal symptoms and cannot function. I'm very close to losing my job. I was not abusing my Norco, why am I being punished for drug addicts??!!!"

"I started taking Hysingla 40 mg about 10 days ago. It does take the pain away about 80% of the time. I wake up through the night with only about 3 hours of sleep. I also have terrible headaches now. I don't know if any of this is related to my medication, as I checked the side effects, but this has only started since then. You would think taking pain medication I wouldn't have headaches. Talking to my pain management doctor next week."

"First of all, I’ve been on many different pain medications for several years, and I’ll have to say this is the worst drug ever made! Purdue should be legally bound for charging over $500 for 30 pills, no matter the strength, and for my situation, I’m taking the 40 mg pill that Purdue claims works a whopping 24 hours! First of all, what I have noticed is that it takes 8 hours upon dosing just to start anything, so let’s subtract 24-8, and that leaves 16 hrs. Now, if I told you that this miracle and very expensive drug lasted for 16 hrs, well, I would be telling you it is incorrect, so in all practicality, it should be scheduled for every 12 hours instead, twice daily. Don’t waste your time or money on this pathetic pill!"

"Does absolutely nothing. I take the 20 mg dose along with 4 Aleve a day and 4-6 Tylenol. The Hysingla ER did nothing to help. All it does is make me very sleepy 4-5 hours after I take it through the rest of the day. I mean, so sleepy I wouldn't want to try to drive a car."

"Very positive experience for me. Sick of taking hydrocodone all day and night for chronic pain. Still taking hydrocodone for breakthrough pain once most days, twice others, but that is a big decrease for me. I am not nearly as sluggish and feel generally better."

"Biggest waste of money. Don't believe all the lies put out by drug co. Very unpredictable in its delivery. Pain comes in spurts for me, so something that won't do me any good for 5 hours is practically worthless to me. If I have to suffer that long for relief, then I might as well not take anything. I understand that it's not designed for breakthrough pain, but still need more predictability in a pill's delivery to judge how to take it. I have very bad stomach issues as well."

"This drug didn't work as well as short-acting hydrocodone in lower doses. I had to take up to 20 mg of Tramadol per day for breakthrough pain on top of the 30 mg of Hysingla. It put me to sleep, made me unable to think clearly or efficiently, and didn't allow me to organize my day or complete my tasks as well as I previously had. I had to take it around 6 PM to avoid breathing issues when I lay down, and as a result, by the time I got up in the morning, I no longer received any pain relief from it - there is no way it works for 24 hours. I'm now in the process of returning to Norco, and while still taking hydrocodone, I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms from getting off the Hysingla. It is far more dangerous and addictive than it is promoted."

"I started taking 30 mg Hysingla ER about 6 months ago for severe joint pain along with 3 Vicodin a day for breakthrough medication. I'm now up to 60 mg Hysingla ER, but the 3 per day of Vicodin is just not cutting it. I'm in severe joint pain with RA and osteoporosis. May be possible Vicodin not strong enough, I think Tylenol not strong enough for me. I keep running out of the breakthrough medication by 3-4 days every month. Any suggestions?"

"I have just started this medication, 120 mg once daily, was on OxyContin ER 80 mg 2x day, with morphine 30 mg 3x day as needed. I have multiple disc herniations/stenosis in all three areas of the spine, failed cervical fusion, tendonitis in left and right shoulder, knee, etc. I have had multiple pain issues since the age of 30 and have had other pain treatments including injections, bilateral rhizotomies, gangliotomies. Granted, I have just started this rx after my insurance carrier decided not to pay for OxyContin 80 mg bid. I've gotten pretty good relief so far, since I was truly hesitant after reading these reviews, but so far it is no better or no worse than Oxy 80. I have had no major side effects, so I'm pretty satisfied so far."

"This medication isn't that effective compared to taking Norco since Norco releases most of its metabolites within an hour, immediately causing pain relief. Switching over to Hysingla has not only cost me way more money per month but also has caused me to have severe withdrawals and pain due to its very slow time release of the medication. I take 20 mg of Norco at a time tid, and I'm on the Hysingla 30 mg. So, with that being said, my body is used to 20 mg of morphine every 6 hours. If I'm on the Hysingla 30, it means I'm only getting approximately 1.25 mg an hour. That causes the concentration of my morphine levels to drop rapidly. Bottom line, this medication does not work unless you have minor pain that can wait a while till this medication."

"I have 3 herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and osteoarthritis. I suffer from constant pain every day. I've been on Norco 10/325 4x a day for 3 years now and never abused my medication. A few months ago, my doctor had me try Hysingla ER 40 mg. This medication only lasts about 17 hours and gave me about 30-40% relief with random breakthrough pain. Plus, I felt lethargic the entire day, nauseous, constipated, anxious, and excessive yawning. After putting up with it for two months, I talked with my doctor, and he switched me back to the Norco. So disappointed. I had high hopes for this medication since it was one pill every 24 hours. It just does not work as promised and is expensive."

"All of this is the fault of physicians and pharmaceutical companies. At this point, they're getting so much pressure to get people off of opioids that they either don't care or have no choice but to prescribe drugs that don't work. If they don't solve this problem, people are going to start buying heroin or something else just to get pain relief."

"My doctor switched me to Hysingla 40 mg from Norcos 10/325, and I'm in so much pain. I don't want to have to take anything, but I don't have a choice because of chronic pain. But I want to go back to Norcos. They work better!!"

"I’ve been suffering from chronic pain for 6 years now due to 3 lumbar herniated discs and osteoarthritis. I’ve been taking Norco 10/325 4 times a day with okay relief. Recently, my doctor had me try Hysingla 40 mg, and honestly, it just doesn’t work! It only lasts about 16-18 hours, and it made me feel very lethargic, anxious, and I would have a lot of breakthrough pain throughout the day, plus it was $413!! My insurance refused to cover it. After talking with my doctor, he switched me to MS Contin. That medication so far has worked so much better than any other extended-release opioid. If you suffer from chronic pain, I recommend you try MS Contin. It works great, and it’s very cheap even without insurance."

"I have tried Hysingla twice with the same results. Absolutely zero pain relief. If anything, it made me a little worse. Should be removed from the market for zero efficacy. Avoid at all costs and save yourself 30 days of miserable pain."

"I've been on Norco, 5x a day with 4 Nucynta for about 8 years. I don't want to get doped up on some insanely strong opiate that makes me sleepy and unable to function. I am able to get things done on this current regimen. I have multi-level cervical herniations, C6-C7 fusion, and suffer from fibromyalgia. No fun. My doctor switched me to Hysingla 40 mg with two 7.5 Lortab with Tylenol to reduce my overall Tylenol intake. He wants to protect my liver, which I totally agree with. 30 minutes after I took the Hysingla ER, my mouth became dry, my blood pressure shot way up to stroke range, and I felt like death warmed over. I have taken just about every pain med at one time or another for any of my 7 surgeries, and I have never felt this bad because of an ER med. This Hysingla med made me feel bad enough to go to the hospital."

"My doc prescribed me 20 mg of Hysingla, and this has to be the most useless drug I've ever been prescribed. I have extreme spinal stenosis, and this pain med not only was hard to get, but it was super expensive as well. Like $200! My insurance wouldn't touch this drug! I experienced no pain relief with this drug, and I took it for 2 months. I finally put my foot down and told the doc this med just doesn't work and to quit playing around giving me these useless medications and to give me something that works. I'm now on 10 mg of Percocet, and it helps me get through the workday. Heck of a lot better than useless Hysingla."

"I have 3 autoimmune conditions and a very messed up back. I was on Percocet 10/325 4x a day, which was helping, but neuro put me on Hysingla 20mg and stopped all my other meds, including headache shots. Said this was a miracle drug for all my needs. All this drug done for me is cause more pain and withdrawals. If it works for you, that's great, but some folks have a higher tolerance for meds, so if you're one of these people who does have a higher tolerance to meds, it's not for you. Save your money because the cost is high, and you figure for the price you pay, you'd get some kind of relief."

"Been on Hysingla for 6 months now; this is my 3rd posting about the experience. I'm using 40 mg ER and have given up. Just too darn tired all the time and 12/24 hours still in back pain, so what the hell, I'm gonna ask the Dr to put me back on 10/325 Percs 4 times daily."

"My doctor just switched me from 30 mg of MS Contin to Hysingla 20 mg once a day. Mind you, I have been taking the same thing for over 4 years. This Hysingla is a joke! After 3 hours, I was in so much pain I thought I was dying! Felt like I was going to be sick, and not from the medicine, it was because I was in so much pain. Whoever said this lasts for 24 hours is completely ridiculous. Worst ever!"
