"It is now three and a bit weeks after completing treatment, and still waiting to get final tests. The first 10 days post-treatment, I was still experiencing nausea, headaches, and sleep disturbances. This started to settle down around 12 days post-treatment, but in the last few days, I am back to feeling 'mildly unwell,' sleep unsettled, and depressed. Probably not knowing results yet is not helping, but I am posting this as there is no 'immediate feeling better' once treatment is ended, and that is taking a bit of getting used to. Trying to not burden people around me with how I am feeling, but to be honest, I am talking myself into feeling OK each day, and hoping that is how it turns out."

"I was supposed to take Mavyret for 12 weeks, but the insurance stopped me after 8 unexpectedly. My first blood work shows undetected, so I'm very excited and hopeful my 12-week labs will say the same. I couldn't get more than two hours of sleep at a time on this drug. I went back to pretty normal sleep patterns about a month after. I had pretty intense depression for the last two weeks of treatment, but recognized it was the meds and got through it. I'm so grateful for the miracle of this medication. Good luck to all of you! This med cures pretty much everyone. I had hep C for around 30 years."

"I'm having terrible chest pain, and it's scaring me! I have 3 weeks left to go of the Mavyret treatment. My blood work already came back non-detected. Does anyone else have chest pain? It's giving me major anxiety. I've been to the hospital, they said my heart was okay."

"I am currently in week 4 and am starting to have the worst side effects such as tiredness, fever, sweating, nausea, body aches, and pains along with bowel issues. Before this, I suffered only the runs and headaches but felt great. Going to see a doctor today to get help and reassurance."

"My husband and I both have Hep C and took Mavyret for 8 weeks, and after the 8 weeks, we are both cured! The only side effect that either of us had from the medicine was a headache off and on, but it was well worth the slight headache."

"After 8 weeks of Mavyret, I was cured. No sides to speak of. However, the day I stopped Mavyret, I felt out of sorts. A general malaise. Now it's been one week, and it's gotten worse. Plus, I feel depression coming on. Cured of hep C, but feel like ... garbage. It's weird."

"I have had hep C for 22 years, I am 39 years old. It's chronic with inflammation and scarring. My genotype is 1a. I have been taking Mavyret for 6 days now. I have had many side effects: chills, dizziness, nausea, achy joints. It changes from day to day for me. Yesterday was the worst day for me, then today I woke up feeling decent, and as the day progressed, I had more energy than I have had in many years. So far, this drug has not had anything bad enough to make me wish I didn't start. I am so excited to hopefully be free of this. I will give an update at my halfway point."

"I just got approved. I have been sick for several years and have not worked for 2 years! When you get sick, it truly robs you of any quality of life. I will be starting my meds this week and will share my experience. Took a year and 3 months to get approved. Only because I had a doctor who didn't care if I ever got my meds. My new doctor got me approved in a month. You need a Hep C doctor who specifically works with Hep C only."

"Well, tonight's the first night on Mavyret. Took it right after dinner, with lots of water. Genotype 1, have had this curse since the mid-70s. Really never experienced bad symptoms, but it's time to get rid of the monkey on my back! I will update everyone over the next 8 weeks, wish me luck."

"I am 6 weeks post-Mavyret treatment. My last blood work proved I was hepatitis C free. During treatment, I experienced a lot of fatigue and drowsiness. I chose to take Mavyret after a good supper. Then soon after, would retire to bed. I experienced a severe lack of appetite. I had to force myself to eat. My diet mainly consisted of yogurt and lots of water because I was experiencing dehydration. At this point, I have increased energy. It is almost unbelievable the increased energy I am experiencing. Also, my depression is practically obsolete. My pain is down from a 10 to a 4. I highly recommend Mavyret treatment. My 12-week blood work is due in 3 weeks, I will let you know my results. Best wishes to everyone attempting to recover from hepatitis C."

"My husband started Mavyret about 3 weeks or so ago. He is so exhausted and dead on his feet. He also has been having extreme back pain. Is this normal? It seems like if it isn't 'normal,' it's not terribly uncommon."

"I must attest today that being selected to be prescribed this medicine (Mavyret) is a blessing. Firstly, to the inventors of this wonderful medicine ... a heartfelt (THANK YOU). SAN FRANCISCO GENERAL HOSPITAL STAFF (SO MANY OF YOU) ... ALSO A GRACIOUS THANK YOU. Mavyret is an outstanding medicine. My start date, 02/15/2019, was welcome and very desired for quite a long time. To fill in my review, I firstly can say amazingly good. After just 1 week (no adverse reactions), nothing but positive results. Brain fog gone ... clear-headed definitely ... energetic. I hope others can achieve the same type of benefit. Lastly, Acredo Specialty Pharmacy, professional to the letter ... God Bless."

"I've been on Mavyret for 7 days, feel tired and flu-like sick. I've had hep C genotype 3a for 8 years. I get mental fog and depression too. I can't sleep well, have a headache every day, not debilitating, but enough to irritate you. I'm blessed to have this drug, and I know people who have died from hep C, so I'm just gonna pray and take my meds."

"I just finished week 6 of my 8-week prescription of Mavyret. The first 2 weeks were a breeze, no symptoms, still going to the gym daily. Week 2, I got extremely sick, throwing up and diarrhea for 24 hours. Since then, symptoms have been on and off, one day I'll feel great, the next day I'm fatigued, can't work out, and can sleep all day. My muscle fatigue has been horrible. Has anyone else experienced this? Went in for my 1-month check-up, blood work came back good. I'll go in for my next check-up in 3 months."

"I'm on my 3rd week of treatment. I'm experiencing terrible fatigue, nausea, flu-like symptoms but not 24/7. Sleeping only 2-3 hrs a night. Got 5 more weeks to go before I will know if I'm cleared. Diagnosed in 2005. Tried the Pegasus treatment and only lasted 8 weeks. This is not as severe. Gotta stay hydrated though, and I need to take little naps, but I think I can get through this one. Prayers for success."

"Last week, had my 4-week blood work. It came back undetectable! Side effects: first week was crazy dreams and being extremely tired, but I found taking vitamin B12 helps a lot! I'm not tired like I was. Just started my 6th week. This medicine is well worth it. I do have hypothyroidism. I have noticed a good bit of other people with hep C also have some thyroid dysfunction. If you're still tired after treatment, get your thyroid checked!"

"I cannot recommend this medication enough. I am 51 years old and have been living with hep C since my mid-20s sometime. My insurance turned me down for Harvoni twice. I needed a cure, otherwise, this disease was going to eventually kill me. I got on Mavyret. The side effects that I experienced were few: a slight headache, which got relieved with drinking water, and one time I needed to take an ibuprofen. A little bit of gas, but really nothing major. At my 4-week blood test, I was undetectable and started with an eight million liver count. I had another blood test at 8 weeks, I was still undetectable for the hep C virus. Hallelujah, thank God for this medication. My life now has a whole new meaning. If you're straddling the fence about this drug, get off of the fence and start your recovery. I highly recommend this medication to anybody suffering from hep C."

"I’ve just finished my Mavyret treatment last Monday and would like to share my experience. I did 4 months of treatment because of my genotype 3 plus a previous unsuccessful interferon, ribavirin treatment. I started Mavyret back in February, and the only big issue I had was dizziness, specifically at night after 2 weeks. This symptom persisted for a few days and then disappeared. I felt dizziness once again during the second month for very few days and then never more. I may have felt fatigue on a few occasions, but I’m not entirely sure it had to do with the treatment. After the first two weeks, my virus load was almost undetectable, and after a month, it was negative. It’s pretty amazing. I’ve done a new blood test today and will do it again in 3 months and 6 months. Fingers crossed it will be negative. If you are afraid of starting this treatment, don’t be. Your body gets used to it, and I swear you don’t feel anything after a while. Good luck, everyone."

"This forum is great. I do not have hepatitis C, but my husband does. He is really struggling with the lack of sleep, nausea, and irritability. He works road construction and long days. I appreciate your wisdom, as he is a quiet man and doesn’t share much. This has helped me understand Mavyret, the effects on a person, and your wisdom has been invaluable, so hopefully I can be more empathetic with the struggle he is going through. Originally, he told me we’d need to come up with $100,000.00, but so far we've paid $200.00. Thank you!"

"I got Hep C back in 1985 via blood transfusion. I'm on Mavyret. I suggest to eat a big meal before taking the pills and drink lots of water. I took my pills at 7 pm. You can do this and stop thinking about the side effects. Take the treatment, you have no choice! So grateful for this medication."

"I am just in the first week of treatment. I contracted Hep C about 4 years ago and had a heck of a time finally getting approved for the medication. I am so grateful to have found this page and feedback because I have been giving myself anxiety about possible side effects as I live a very active lifestyle. So far, though, the only symptom I have been dealing with is a mental fog of sorts, perhaps it is due to fatigue. I didn't notice anyone else mention that, so I thought I would throw it out there. I am so excited to beat this thing and close out a chapter of my life, as well as sharing my experience with other people. I will check back in as my treatment progresses. Love you all, and God bless!"

"I just started my treatment of this medication two days ago. I was so nervous and so excited at the same time. I am feeling a little nauseous, and my skin is pretty itchy. Now, I don't know if that’s from winter dry skin or a side effect. I can’t wait to be cured, I just hope after this is over that I feel better, because right now I feel awful!! Praying for a speedy and effective treatment!! I’ll tell again in a few weeks how I’m feeling. Thanks for reading."

"Well, I have 4 more days left of Mavyret treatment. I was expecting a treatment similar to Interferon, but that's not what this is. It makes you feel a little like you are on Benadryl or something. One morning, I got up and puked, and my throat felt real scratchy, but it only seemed to last for 1 day, three weeks in. I can't say I've had serious side effects, however, I didn't get any headaches. I find taking it with a bag of microwave popcorn to be the best. I won't find out if it actually worked for another month when I go get labs done. However, I've made it to the point where there are 4 packages and have not missed a day of taking the medication. So hopefully it worked."

"I just finished the 8-week course of Mavyret. On May 6th, 2021. I am 40 yrs old and have had Hep C for about 14 years. During treatment, I had some mild side effects until the last week of taking it. I have bad insomnia, high stress levels, bad heart palpitations, and I feel hot but no fever. This has continued from the last week I took the meds right through to now, which as of this writing is Weds, May 19th, 2021. I had no issues with my heart at all since before I started Mavyret. My stress levels are through the roof, and my heart rate is either high or my blood pressure is high. My heart has been pounding hard since the last week of Mavyret. I feel like I was deceived into taking an experimental drug. If some of you have heart problems after taking and finishing Mavyret, please comment here and let me know what issues you have had so I can figure out what is going on with me. Thank you for your time."

"I was diagnosed in the 1990s with Hep C. I never addressed it as I had no insurance and never felt bad. I’m 57 now, and in the past year I feel like I have aged 10 years. I have felt so weak and no get-up-and-go. Well, I started Mavyret knowing that I would feel worse before I felt better. The first 2 weeks, very little side effects. Now, with 38 days to go, I have a burning throat, lead legs, and all of a sudden, I have huge red blisters on my right foot and left hand. I called the prescribing doctor, and he said he didn’t think it was from the meds. Now I read on here other people that have numerous red bumps that I best describe as blisters. Skin is super sensitive around them. Please, if anyone has experience with this, please post."
