For Pain "I was diagnosed with neck hernia on C5/C6 with arthritis, and Gabapentin (paired with Physical Therapy exercises and a foam roller) truly helped out. The one interesting thing about Gabapentin is that it somehow knocked out my anxiety as well. It was really nice to be able to take a medicine that left me with no side effects but also improved another condition. I found out that taking Gabapentin with soda (I use Ginger-Ale) actually helps absorb it better than taking it with water. My dosage was 3600 mg per day. It's worth mentioning that you probably shouldn't drive when you take Gabapentin. Every individual is different, so try it out and see what works for you. This medicine has the ability to make things appear more 'vivid' while enhancing music and sound."

For Anxiety "I have never in my 30 years of living been so happy & alive thanks to the gabapentin and lithium my psychiatrist put me on almost 3 months ago. Going back to my inpatient stay in March - I was suicidal because I didn't think there was any other way out of the pain and burden of being anxious 24/7. It paralyzed me. I felt helpless. Now, I go to the gym, play with my son more, perform better at work, and all my relationships are much better. I can actually think to communicate. Also, I don't go from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds anymore. I'm like 'I got this. Just breathe.' I can't even make myself anxious anymore. I've tried. I am on 3000mg a day of gabapentin (5-600mg pills a day) and 600mg of lithium (2-300mg pills a day). True happiness!"

For Anxiety "I've had terrible depression and anxiety for over 20 years. I was prescribed Paxil in 1995 and it worked great until last year. It just stopped working, and I had horrible rebound depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. I felt really bad. My CNP prescribed Gabapentin, and I felt better after the first dose. I take 300mg three times a day and feel wonderful. No more anxiety, depression, constant worrying, and it works great for insomnia. The first night I took it, I slept 8 hours straight. I haven't slept that well in over 30 years. I had a few side effects such as slight dizziness and brain fog, but it passed in a few days. What's so great about it is it doesn't make me feel drugged. I just feel calm, clear-headed, and relaxed. I can focus on the important things in my life and stop needlessly worrying about things such as 'what if I can't sleep tonight?' 'What if I go into Walmart and have a panic attack?'. What if, what if... This drug is truly a lifesaver for me."

For Pain "Started this medicine four days ago. I have been living with back and leg pain keeping me awake most of the night. I also have psoriatic arthritis along with herniated disks and leg pain. I take 300mg at night, and it worked from the first night!! Slept for the first time in years, not waking up with pain and remaining awake half the night. I would recommend this medicine to friends and family!!! Thank God the doctor put me on this!!"

For Anxiety "I have suffered from depression and anxiety for over 10 years. No medication has worked in the past. I thought I would have to live the rest of my life being depressed. I gave up on all medications and at times wished I was dead. I would have to say Gabapentin is my miracle pill. This has truly worked for me. I have to say I am happy I took this pill."

For Anxiety "Gabapentin works differently for everyone. I took it for anxiety but only temporarily because of concentration issues. I took 100mg every 6 hours, and it helped me for a while. Currently, my anxiety is under control, but my mood is down. A combination of an antidepressant and gabapentin is a perfect match, but it doesn't work for everyone. It will either work or won't. The great thing about this medication is that you don't have to wait several weeks for it to work. It usually works immediately, but if your anxiety is high, then give it at least a week and the right dosage for it to work. Some people can handle 300mg, and some people need 1,800mg to be effective. Give it a chance before quitting."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "UPDATE. I am still on gabapentin. Dose is 600mg three times a day - total 1800mg in a 24-hour period. I had not had a drink 'craving' since August 11, 2014 when I quit. (I did this within one week of starting gabapentin). I did have a glass of wine at Christmas, one beer on my birthday, and one glass of wine at Easter. That's it. I used to have 10 beers a day, and three glasses of wine or gin for bad panic attacks and generalized anxiety. So for me (not everyone) I can have that occasional drink with friends, at a party or any social event - then come home and not touch the stuff and WITHOUT ANY CRAVINGS AT ALL - as I had during my 40-year binge. Still, this drug is amazing. AA never worked for me."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "Feeling great this morning! I started gabapentin 2 weeks ago for RLS. Last night I was in bed at 10:15, RLS a tiny bit and then got up to the bathroom, dropped off at 11 p.m., slept like a baby until 5:40 a.m. I've had RLS for 25 years, bad, very bad, extreme, intolerable at various times, but always avoided meds. The past 6 months RLS has been intolerable, all night every night. I've been taking Gabapentin for two weeks, 300mg at night. Side effects at first red flushing, dizziness, clumsiness and for one morning (1 hour) weird dark mental thoughts. Now body adjusted I’m sleeping great, RLS and side effects gone. I feel happier. Having RLS so long and lack of sleep I thought my normal mind was normal, but now I feel happier. I am not sure if it is that I am now sleeping or the gabapentin itself or combination. Don't know, don't care. It's early days, but promising. Just arrived at work, pouring with rain as usual (Manchester, England), but KC and the Sunshine Band are playing on the radio. Good luck all."

For Pain "I've been on Ultracet (Tramadol and Tylenol) for 20 years for extreme, unrelenting nerve and muscle pain. Because the US swings from one extreme to the other, the 'opioid epidemic' and forced tapering for all people - most especially chronic pain patients - has caused a great deal more suffering. No problems at all and effective pain relief from brand Ultracet. But the morons are pimping Gabapentin to pain patients and even dogs/cats by veterinarians as a 'replacement' for critical meds like Ultracet (and the real narcotics). Someone's making big money pushing useless Gabapentin on people and animals in pain. Useless at best, bizarre and scary psychiatric problems at worst. Avoid this medication. Gabapentin has an array of its own very serious problems, so best to avoid."

For Anxiety "In one day, I felt so much better! No jitters, nervousness, and no pain. I used to shake when anxiety was high, so much that I hurt everywhere! I now have fibromyalgia with anxiety, but I feel normal! Eating well, maybe too much snacky stuff due to the neuro meds, working out, cleaning the house. I'm back! It's a stoned feeling at first, then you get used to it."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "For my entire adult life, I've quit drinking a 100 times. AA, rehab, sober partners: all the methods worked, and I quit. But not for good! Finally, 14 years ago, I was prescribed Neurontin for my brand new menopause-sponsored hot flashes. I took it for 2 years and quit drinking completely, I just didn't want drinks anymore. At all. When I went off the drug, it was obvious to me within a week: Neurontin stops me from drinking and helped keep me sober, I can't believe how well it works. I've been taking it ever since. I'm sober, and THIN! Opinions are of no value to me because this is how my Neurontin took away my obsession."

For Anxiety "I was originally prescribed Gabapentin for internal nerve damage due to extensive colon cancer surgery. It has been about 75% effective in relieving this pain. To my surprise, it has also helped in other ways I was never expecting. I have a pretty laid-back personality (I thought) but after taking Gabapentin for pain relief, I began noticing a calming effect overtake me - just relaxed. I used to get lots of negative thoughts that would come to my mind which I would fight off, but now I don't even go there! My husband has really noticed a difference in my upbeat attitude towards life, and after a year of radiation, chemo, surgery, etc., it is a wonderful surprise to him also! As a side note - I am also sleeping great and wake up refreshed."

For Migraine "As a migraine sufferer since I was 13 years old. I am now 56 years old. I tried it all. Imitrex, Fioricet, Maxalt, Fioricet, Relpax, Zomig, Treximet, Cafergot, you name it. Sometimes I ended up in the E.R. for a shot of Toradol. Finally, I saw a general practitioner. He put me on gabapentin, 400 mg three times a day. What a miracle. I've been on it for over a year now and been TOTALLY headache-free. Wish all my other doctors were up with this. Would have saved me a lot of suffering."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have been on Gabapentin for 15 months. My dose is two 600mg tablets a day for a total of 1200mg in a 24-hour period. I was prescribed Gabapentin for alcoholism first, anxiety second. This medication is a godsend. After drinking 10-15 alcohol drinks a day for 40 years, within a week I quit and had no side effects from withdrawal - plus the anxiety went away. I do not crave alcohol at all. It is so weird. I thought it wouldn't work until I tried it - and it does work! It was that quick. I suggest everyone with an alcohol problem that wants to quit but is deathly afraid to do so, ask your doctor for Gabapentin. It is non-addictive like benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax). AA never worked for me. Gabapentin, in my opinion, replaces AA."

For Peripheral Neuropathy "Started gabapentin at 300 mg daily. Moving up an extra 300 mg every 3 days. Was extremely sleepy for over two weeks with little or no pain relief...until I started taking 2400 mg, 600 mg three times daily. At this dosage, my pain level dropped significantly and the drowsiness side effect stopped. The pain had been so intense I'd been feeling suicidal...and even opiates were not controlling it. Now, with the 2400 mg daily dose of gabapentin, my neuropathy pain is very well controlled and life is good again. I have experienced no side effects since the first few weeks of drowsiness. Don't let doctors tell you that if 900 mg daily doesn't relieve your pain...that the medicine won't work for you. 1800 mg to 3600 mg is a working dose."

For Pain "I have a ruptured disc in my back (L5, S1) with my disc touching the sciatic nerve, giving me excruciating pain, and before this, my doctors had me on hydrocodone, Flexeril, and naproxen. This was no relief for me, the pain literally had me in tears at work and at all times of the day. There were days I wouldn't be able to sleep because of the pain. My lovely girlfriend told me to ask my primary care physician about this medicine, and I am so happy. I was at a level 9 pain this morning, and now I can be in any position I want without feeling the sciatic pain in my leg. I have absolutely zero pain now, and I am very, very happy! I got my life back. I am still doing the epidural steroid shot this week because I would like my disc to heal faster."

For Fibromyalgia "Was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the start of the year, having suffered with severe neck and upper back pain. The deep pain, especially in the upper back right in between the shoulder blades, was unbearable most of the time. I had the symptoms for over 2 years before the diagnosis and had almost 80 sessions of treatment with 11 different therapists. Anyway, started taking duloxetine, gabapentin, and Co-codamol in January. Started gabapentin at 300 mg a day and built up to 1800 mg a day by the end of March. Over the last few weeks, I feel that I am starting to get my life back. Not totally pain-free, but I now have spells where the pain is bearable. So if you have just started on this, be patient and fingers crossed you will get relief."

For Occipital Neuralgia "I take four 800 mg doses per day. The pain is barely at bay, but anything else I’ve tried had zero effect. I also take Flexeril at night, I don’t think it does anything. There is a bald spot on the back of my skull where I constantly press down because of the pain. I do everything with my left hand now because I can’t keep my right hand off the spot. The pain never goes away. I’ve had facet injections, nerve blocks, massage, 6 weeks of PT. My Occipital Neuralgia has bankrupted my family and is ruining our lives. I fear losing my job, becoming homeless with no health insurance. I also live with Depression and Anxiety disorder which are exacerbated by the ON. I take so many pills every day, I can’t imagine what it’s doing to my organs. I’ve tried exercise, yoga, meditation, and I’ve done everything I was told to try. Gabapentin is the only thing that helps at all. If I were not a mother, I would end my life. The pain is constant and unrelenting. No one should have to live like this."

For Anxiety "I'm 52 years old and felt my life was meaningless, and extremely hard facing everyday routines, and now I'm sitting in the garage and feel like I could sit here all day. This is my second day, and I feel the best I have in 30 years. Before, I couldn't sit here without my mind racing a million times a second and getting up and feeling anxious. I took the day off from work not knowing what my anxiety was going to do, but look forward to going to work tomorrow. So far, life is good, and I hope this is the miracle drug I've been longing for."

For Fibromyalgia "My new doctor just prescribed Neurontin. For the first time in years, I had a good night's sleep and woke up with less pain and stiffness. It's the first 'Good morning' I can truly say. Only 300 mg dosage. Thrilled. My previous doctor tried other medications, always an epic failure. My new doctor listened to my 'story', paid attention, and believed me when I brought up my Fibromyalgia."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have BPD, and it was a really rough start. My doctor had me on 27 different prescriptions in one year, and I was a total train wreck. Switched doctors, and that one gave me a very high dose of benzos, and it almost killed me. Spent time in the ICU for that one. Finally got the most amazing doctor now and he started me on gabapentin. It honestly saved my life. It is so hard to survive this illness when you can't get it under control. I had forgotten what it was like to be myself. I was angry and pissed off at everyone. It was so very hard on my husband and four little boys. I started with 300mg three times a day. The difference was amazing. I could smile and laugh. Thank you gabapentin for bringing me back!"

For Insomnia "I suffered severe insomnia for the last five years and a milder form prior to that time period. I also experience migraines (lifelong) and back conditions (disk disease, arthritis, and sciatica). In consultation with multiple physicians, I was prescribed gabapentin for the multiple symptoms. I now sleep like a baby at night. I am more functional with my back condition, and my migraine episodes have been cut in half. Gabapentin reduced my use of Maxalt, Fiorinal, and Ambien. I have taken 600 - 900 mg of Gabapentin as treatment. I have not noticed any side effects."

For Anxiety "Been on gabapentin for over 10 years. It helps with certain parts of anxiety, mainly tension and irritability. However, and I swear some Psychs don't get this, you have to take it religiously every 4-5 hours for it to work. If I got past that mark, my shoulders and back tense up, everything annoys me, and I start to hate everything. Sounds tough, but it hasn't affected my organs negatively, and when taken properly, it works."

For Pain "I have taken gabapentin for 1 1/2 years, 600mg x 3. I was addicted to morphine for years because of degenerative disc, 5 herniated discs. I flushed all my pain meds and between the gabapentin and Suboxone, I have very little pain and do NOT need heavy narcotics anymore. What really helped was that with the pain level lower, I was able to start exercising and feel 110%. Good luck and God Bless"

My anxiety and depression were so much better also, I felt like a new person. I was taking 600mg once in the morning and 600mg once before bed. After a while went by, I started getting very tired, so I just take one at bedtime now. So far, so good. I highly recommend this medication."
