For Depression "Started on 10mg while seeing a mental health professional (counselor) simultaneously. Medicine kicked in at about 3 weeks of treatment and got better when MD increased the dosage to 20 mg 6 weeks into treatment. It's been a consistent once daily oral capsule 20 mg for the past 3 1/2 months. Mood has lifted. Wakes up with clear thoughts. Lessened racing negative thoughts. Reduced anticipation of negative events and occurrences. Obsessive-compulsive rituals reduced. Answer the phone with more ease and less concerned about making mistakes in front of people. Anxiety greatly reduced, lessened depressive thoughts. Definitely helps you to look forward to life. It works better to see counselor at the same time so you can track progress."

For Panic Disorder "Do not give up! This drug does work but it takes time. I am going on week 4 of 20 mg, and I am finally starting to feel better and more like myself. The first week was REALLY hard. For 2 days, I had massive anxiety, worse than ever before, to the point where I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I almost stopped this medication, but I pushed through because that’s what everyone said. After those few days, it got better. I don’t have a lot of 'what if' thoughts anymore, and I am starting to feel myself. I know this is different for everyone, but my advice is to try to push through the first 2 weeks if you can!"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication Prozac has helped me so much and has truly saved my life. My OCD and panic attacks were taking over my life to the point where I felt I could barely function. When this medicine began working for me, I felt that I finally am the person I want to be if my OCD and anxiety did not stand in my way. This medication was absolutely amazing for my OCD and anxiety/panic attacks. I am on 50mg."

For Anxiety and Stress "Prozac was 8 weeks nightmare at first then all of a sudden I went from needing zopiclone to sleep to being able to sleep myself within 30 mins. My mood has picked up and I can better take my stress. I'm only on 20mg and took it due to trauma at work and subsequent insomnia. Life changing in a great way."

For Anxiety and Stress "I've been on Prozac for about 5 months now, suffered with extreme anxiety, restlessness, stress, and constantly feeling nervous on a regular daily basis. This is the best way I can describe how Prozac makes me feel and act: my anxiety isn't present anymore, in situations where I know I definitely get anxious (even for the right reasons). I feel like there is some sort of shield, or like a protective layer on my nerves and anxiety. It's like I don't feel the 100% raw effect of the anxiety and stress, more like 20% to even zero sometimes. As a 32-year-old woman, I came to a point where I knew I need to stop feeling everything all of the time at its most intensity, I just want to experience feelings in a moderate and balanced state. At first, it was weird to not feel the 100% anxiety and stress when you're in situations where you know you would feel them constantly before, and it keeps getting better after. I feel free to go on about my day without my emotions, stress, and nerves hijacking me."

For Panic Disorder "I started taking this magic pill about 4 months ago. I've had general anxiety disorder and depression for at least 20 years. My biggest anxiety is with taking medication. Finally, at 44, it hit me like a brick and I stopped driving and couldn't work due to crippling anxiety and irrational fears. I sought help and got the courage to start on 10 mg Prozac about 4.5 months ago, increased to 20 mg after 3 weeks. I have to say this medication truly saved my life and sanity! I feel normal again and anxiety is gone! I recommend it to anyone who has doubts about it, it truly works :)"

For Depression "I finally had the guts to mention my depression to my doctor. Thank God! I was depressed for years and was at the point of uncontrollable crying, missing work because of it. This was not the wife and mother I wanted to be, so I finally asked for help. It has changed my life. No more depression and many things that used to cause me stress bother me much less or not at all. Not many side effects except fatigue, appetite loss, and a spacey feeling that only lasted a few days. Please don't wait to ask for help. I wish I had done this long ago."

For Anxiety and Stress "Honestly, this changed my life. I’m only in my 3rd week with Prozac, but I’ve seen the biggest change in my anxiety. I can actually laugh about the things that would make me worry to the point I was sick on a day-to-day basis. I’ve always been skeptical of antidepressants, but this one is worth it. The side effects go away within a few weeks, max. The only thing that was bothersome was the insomnia, but it only kept me up about 2 hours after my original bedtime. Don’t let the side effects keep you from taking this drug though, once you’re on the other side, you’ll realize that yes, the grass is sometimes greener on the other side! I’ve had the most peace and the most stress-free life in 3 weeks than I’ve had in 20 years. It’s a game changer."

For Depression "Prozac is great! When you first start, you can feel a little anxious, but hang in there. It has changed my whole outlook on life after being really depressed after a divorce and trying to raise two kids on my own. It gave me the confidence to get a job and enjoy working again. Before it, I had little confidence. I love laughing again, which I do a lot now! No side effects for me, except feeling a bit weird and anxious for the first few weeks."

For Anxiety and Stress "This medicine has been a lifesaver for me. It's the only antidepressant that has worked. I lost weight on it (which I needed to), feel less stressed, can handle stress, thoughts are not obsessive anymore, I laugh more and interact more with friends. I don't feel scared every day. If you are thinking of taking it, give it at least 4-6 weeks to kick in. It's worth it."

For Depression "Well, I just started taking Prozac to help me deal with depression and anxiety. I returned from a tour in Iraq about three months ago, and my symptoms kept getting worse and worse. I've been taking Prozac for about a week now, and I'm already feeling relief from it. It's like all the problems are still there, they just don't get to me like they used to. It's been very helpful so far."

For Bulimia "I would not be alive today if not for Prozac. I was throwing up 5 times a day and so desperately unhappy. I often thought of suicide. I escaped an abusive childhood only to move on to the living hell that is bulimia. Within two weeks of Prozac, my all-consuming thoughts about food, weight, and throwing up diminished, and I started focusing on my future, college, and doing something other than throwing up all day. I weaned myself off of it after about 2 years of being bulimia-free. I was bulimic for 13 years and haven't thrown up now in 15 years (except for the flu). Please try it for bulimia, no negative side effects that I remember."

For Anxiety and Stress "I am one of the few people who doesn't suffer from some mixed form of depression & anxiety; I'm straight anxious. I have been on 10-20 mg Prozac for about 7 months now - starting was a little rocky in terms of heightened anxiety, gastrointestinal problems, and nausea, but those leveled off after 3 wks. Now, in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and daily mental work, I have to say that this medicine really has helped me get to a place where I can actually implement permanent habits and positive thought cycles and RELAX, whereas before I had a lot of trouble not being stuck as a result of my ruminating, anxiety, fear, guilt, etc. It's also been really great for my marriage, and my husband has been a big teammate. It's been good."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I want to write a review to help anyone feeling stressed about starting Prozac. I take it for anxiety and OCD, and it seriously changed my life. I was nervous about taking medication for my mental health because I was scared of side effects or it turning me into someone I'm not. I am super reactive to any medication, so I was even more nervous. Prozac changed my life. I take 20 mg once daily, and I have never noticed any side effects beyond some nausea/heartburn if I take it without food or before bed. I usually take it in the morning with breakfast, and that solved any problems! I've taken 20 mg for almost 3 years, and I have fewer panic attacks, can work through CBT and exposure therapy so much easier. If your doctor is recommending this to you, I really recommend trying it! I was once reading all these reviews, scared out of my mind, so hopefully, this helps someone."

For Depression "I had taken Prozac for 3 years and had been off for 1 year. In the 3 years that I took it, it was really amazing. I stopped having irrational thoughts, stopped feeling hopeless, and could make a decision without going crazy. I stopped taking it after 3 years thinking that I may not need it anymore. The depression came back gradually during this time, getting worse day by day. Nothing bad was happening in my life during this time. My doctor classifies this as clinical depression. So currently, I am back on Prozac and feel normal again. I realize that I may have to take it for a long time and I am perfectly fine with that."

For Anxiety and Stress "I have been an anxiety/depression patient for 5 years now. Have taken all kinds of medicines, have had stints of quitting only to fall back on the meds, went medication-free for 3 full months before symptoms began to show again. I can honestly say that FOR ME, Prozac has allowed me to live life. At my worst, I wasn't even able to go in a store even if it was only for one item. Now I can take my kids grocery shopping with no issues. Like I said, FOR ME, this has worked."

For Panic Disorder "I started experiencing panic attacks a few months ago, so bad that I thought I was dying each time I had one. My college NP prescribed me Prozac. The first month of taking it was hell. My anxiety definitely increased, and I had more frequent panic attacks. My doctor said this was normal and to stick with it, and I did! Let me tell you, it has changed my life. I am able to function normally now, and even though I experience some anxiety, I am able to manage it. Prozac has just made me a genuinely happier person, and I recommend it to anyone with anxiety, especially with panic attacks and depression."

For Anxiety and Stress "Not happy, not sad, just there. Actually not even there... Everything is kind of like a daze. But it feels a lot better than being crazy stressed out all the time and freaking out over trivial things, just I don't feel like myself. But the good thing is I'm living in the moment instead of the past or worrying about the future."

For Anxiety and Stress "I'm currently taking Prozac (Fluoxetine) for severe generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and panic attacks. I only take 20mg a day, and even though the first month left me with horrendous nausea and weight loss, it subsided after about 25 days. Now, I find that my appetite as a whole has decreased slightly, but the nausea has subsided. My anxiety has improved so much to the point that I'm actually leaving the house for activities other than work, and I'm having conversations with people I'd usually ignore because I'd feel so self-conscious. I've actually had people (that don't know I suffer from anxiety or that I'm taking Prozac (Fluoxetine)) comment on how well I look recently and how happy I appear within myself."

For Anxiety and Stress "I have battled anxiety (GAD), panic disorder, depression, hypochondria, and OCD for over 10 years. I did not want to be on medication, but you get to a point where you will try anything. My doctor prescribed 10 mg of Prozac. I had no negative side effects, and it took about 8-12 weeks to see full results. I can’t believe what a difference 10 mg can make. I feel 95% normal, and that is a lot when I felt 0% normal. It’s amazing. Don’t be afraid to try a medication if you are suffering."

For Anxiety and Stress "Prozac has literally saved my life not once but twice! The first was after the birth of my son. I was on 20mg, struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and severe anxiety. Prozac, along with therapy, made it possible for me to live a normal life for almost 5 years. I just recently had a horrible bout with anxiety. I am finally coming out of that nightmare. I had a lot of life stressors that brought on the anxiety and caused the break. As much as I tried, I couldn't come out of it, so my doctor increased my dose to 40mg. I have been on the 40mg for exactly a week today, and I am so excited and cautious to say that when I woke up this morning, my heart wasn't beating out of my chest, and I have been able to enjoy my day!"

For Anxiety and Stress "I am starting my 3rd week on Prozac, 20 mg daily. I feel like a new person and am so grateful. I agonized over this choice for weeks, but after 6 months of unbearable anxiety and sadness, then skyrocketing blood pressure, I knew I had to do something. I visited my GP - we did the physical, blood tests, etc. to rule out other factors. It turns out empty nest beginning menopause have done a number on me. The medicine made me feel nauseous, sleepy, like being on cold medicine. On the 10th day, my appetite returned! I don't notice side effects at all anymore. The sadness - 97% gone. The anxiety - 75% gone. I also start visits with a therapist in 2 weeks. Again, I'm grateful to get my life back."

For Anxiety and Stress "I decided to post my experience with Prozac to support others as well. I was suffering from extreme anxiety and panic attacks. Prior to this, I had no prior history of mental disorders, so this was all new to me. It was also interfering with my life, work, and social life. I decided to see a psychiatrist. She recommended Prozac. The first 4 weeks were really tough. I had really bad nausea, constant headaches, felt like my brain was being rewired, felt out of it, and couldn't sleep well. Once I hit the 5th week and beyond, everything started getting better. I have been on Prozac for 4 months and feel like my old self. I feel normal again, all the symptoms are gone, and the anxiety and panic attacks are gone."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I've only been taking Prozac for a very short while, but once it started to kick in, it was like waking up from a three-year-long OCD/major depressive nightmare. I feel like myself for the first time in forever. I've tried other antidepressants and anti-anxiety medicines, and nothing else has worked for me. I'm already having fewer obsessive thoughts and compulsions, and the crippling sense of dread, anxiety, and panic that accompanies my OCD is lifting. I just started it recently, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but the preliminary results have been amazing. I'm so grateful to feel like a human being again."
