Fluoxetine / olanzapine for Major Depressive Disorder "It made my face swell up so bad my eyes looked barely open, they were so puffy. And this was after taking it for over 6 months. Side effect just came out of nowhere. I now take Prozac 40 and Lamictal 150 and feel so much better. And it didn’t really seem to help much with my depression, I was still laying in bed and sleeping most days and nights, although maybe slightly less than unmedicated."

For Depression "Fluoxetine/olanzapine helped me back when I had MDD. Fluoxetine usually takes a while to work. It really helped me until a year back when side effects started getting bad. Weight gain, weight loss, anxiety, numbness, and development of psychosis are some I think the meds have caused. I think I’ve developed bipolar, and ever since it’s become apparent that this med really doesn’t work anymore. Over 5% of people who use it develop anorexia according to research, so I’d advise you to take something else instead."

Fluoxetine / olanzapine for Bipolar Disorder "I took Symbyax for six years until it caused me to start having seizures. Stopping Symbyax was a nightmarish hell. It was the most horrific experience of my life. Zyprexa is a very bad drug. Mixing it with Prozac and calling it another name does not take away its destructive effects on people's lives! Symbyax and anything with Zyprexa in it should be removed from the market!"

For Depression "From September 2018 to November 2018, I took fluoxetine 80 mg with 5-15 mg of olanzapine. My depression was always following me, and it never left for three years. But when I started this medication, everything changed. I began to be interested in life again. I could smile more. I laughed-really laughed like I could before depression. I’ve been on many medications, and fluoxetine/olanzapine has been the only combination that’s worked wonders for my depression. I highly recommend this medication. Unfortunately, I had to go off it because of the weight gain. I gained more than 40 pounds in a few months."

For Bipolar Disorder "Was previously put on a plethora of medications before coming to this combo fluoxetine/olanzapine. I find this one manageable with my symptoms, as it has helped me a lot. I am starting to gain a little bit of weight, but it's worth it to be sane."

Fluoxetine / olanzapine for Bipolar Disorder "Was diagnosed bipolar 1, ADHD, and GAD at 18 and am now 38 and have taken a large gamut of the medications available on the market. Two caused Stevens-Johnson syndrome, some have caused rashes, some cycling. Some severe depression. Some hypomanic. I was on Latuda and gabapentin, and Adderall for ADHD for 8 years and thought I was feeling pretty great, however, I developed TD and had to stop. After several attempts at some newer meds, we settled on supposedly the tried and true Symbyax. I have spent the past 3 years feeling amazing. Legitimately, every single person in my life has commented how I’m much more relaxed and easygoing. I’m able to do things I don’t recall doing in my adult life, like travel or drive at night without severe anxiety. I haven’t cycled in 3 years and while I’ve had some ups and downs like everyone does, it’s manageable and I’m able to function and work through it. HOWEVER, the 46 lb weight gain is my breaking point. Weaning off back to the drawing board."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This was a good med for crisis mode. After crisis time, I got off the olanzapine and stayed on just the antidepressant, fluoxetine. The olanzapine makes you tired and fat if you're on it long, but works to calm crazy thoughts. Take it about 2 hours before bedtime, and you will sleep like a baby. Lowest dose for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "Please note anyone going through bipolar 1, psychosis, schizophrenia DO NOT TAKE this combo (olanzapine/fluoxetine)! Will spike your condition to the max and make it 20 times worse. Gives you psychosis like crazy and makes you way more depressed! Needed to take lorazepam to calm it down. Please beware, best of luck."

For Depression "I was on this for almost 20 years. Helped at first, but then did nothing at all. But when I went off it, my depression was so much worse. I went back on it, but nothing much changed. Eventually, I tapered off it over two years with no side effects. I wish I could find something that worked for me."

For Depression "Ok guys, anyone who’s suffering with psychosis or schizophrenia, mania, just letting you know this will triple your symptoms to nightmare level!!! It spikes those symptoms extremely. I swear it’s awful, saw my own son go through it. Stay away from this nightmare of a pill that can actually cause some really serious side effects."

Fluoxetine / olanzapine for Bipolar Disorder "I have bipolar disorder. I’ve been on Lexapro and Prozac just by itself. Lexapro made me feel nothing, and Prozac was better, but it did nothing to control my hypomania, and I had delusions while taking it. I tried out the Symbyax combo for about 6 months. I was tired. I was so tired all of the time. I only wanted to sleep and eat. As somebody who suffered from severe insomnia from birth, that was helpful, but I slept 20 hours a day on my days off. It gave me tremors in the morning, and my heart raced, but that went away. It got me through my days, sure, but I was 130 lbs at the start of the treatment and was 180 by the time I pulled myself off of it. I’m 5’0, mind you, and that was horrible. I will never use this ever again. It wasn’t worth it for me."

Fluoxetine / olanzapine for Depression "I took Symbyax 3/25 for 5 years. I have been opening my pill capsules and splitting the contents so I can slowly withdraw. The price was getting a bit expensive too. I would not recommend taking any meds unless you absolutely have to. After 5 years I will feel this, but some discomfort is to be expected."
