Fexofenadine "For the past year, I've been having chronic urticaria. If my diet is clean, no hives occur, it's due to the food that I eat. After months of steroids and H1 & H2 antihistamines, I have recovered almost 70%. Now, for the past 3 days, I didn't take any medicine. As I ate some oily food and chicken outside, my hives have increased, so now I'm taking Allegra 120 mg (half tablet) after reading all the above comments. Next review will be soon."

Fexofenadine "I have suffered from cold hives for about 10 years now, and till this day, I have not found a solution. Allegra does nothing for me. I take about two Allegra every time I step out of my house and still get hives all over my face and body. That's more than the recommended dosage for 180 mg. I still have hope that there's a cure somewhere out there."

Fexofenadine "This is really a question rather than a comment. The question is for 'Trac,' who was going to post the results of his treatment. It was a while ago, May 5, 2018. I am interested to know how and if it was treated. Thanks!"

"Been suffering from chronic idiopathic spontaneous urticaria for 3 months now. Drs prescribed this after I had taken a week of prednisolone and ranitidine (Zantac). I started on 120 mg, which didn't work, then Drs increased my dosage to 180 mg twice a day, that did not work. I've just not bothered taking it unless necessary now, and I think Benadryl gives me slight comfort. Fexofenadine is absolutely useless for me. This was the same medication I was given last summer due to hay fever, and it did not work at all. Terrible."

"So I used to use over-the-counter antihistamines, but recently they’ve become ineffective. The doctors prescribed me fexofenadine, and it did not do anything at all. I’m struggling really hard because I’m bedridden most of the day because all the sneezing is causing pains in my body from all the strain. I’ve gone back to trialing over-the-counter medication."

"Went to the pharmacist this morning after suffering continuous sneezing, itchy eyes, and nose running like a tap. He gave me fexofenadine 180 and said it would work. I have now taken the correct dose of tablets since this morning and absolutely no improvement. I'm desperate. Tried other antihistamines before this and they don't work either."

"Effective for my dermatitis or eczema and hives. It does take away the sneezy, watery nose and itchy eyes. I have been taking it for two weeks daily. Currently, my allergies are so terribly bad that I itch everywhere, even in my groin; it is embarrassing. So I am stuck with this 180 mg med. I used to have UV light therapy, which helped greatly. Now I live away from my dermatologist. I don't know what is worse, the anxiety side effects or my constant itching and redness on my skin, which sometimes turns brown when scratched. Pinetarsol soaks in a bathtub help temporarily. Any heat and sweatiness bring the urticaria back. Some pred cream prescribed doesn't really solve the problem. I really wonder what is the cause, and the immunologist, dermatologist, and GP can't tell me. Just saying that it's pollens, creams, food, and a host of other stuff causing it, plus stress. I wonder whether I can take the COVID vaccine with such a problem. It's been 10 years of suffering."

"Had hives now for just about over a year, it is only caused by heat, nothing else. Never changed my diet. I’m fit and healthy and train 5 to 6 times a week at the gym. Obviously, the hives outbreaks are horrendous as it covers my whole body except my face. I've been taking fexofenadine 180 mg for almost 6 months, and no use at all. If anything, it makes it less itchy, but the rash is worse. I’m going to start taking two in the morning from now and see what happens."

"Fexofenadine was first prescribed to me for chronic urticaria with angioedema five years ago by a private doctor in the UK. Symptoms disappeared for five years but came back this summer. Have since moved to France and was worried I wouldn’t be able to find this drug, but thankfully I’m back on it to control the misery that is living with hives/angioedema. More than that - it’s actually a wonder drug for me... honestly couldn’t live without it!"

"I'd been suffering from urticaria for the last year. I took all meds, but nothing was working. At last, my doctor prescribed me fexofenadine and loratadine. It is really magic. My hives go away 70%, now I can eat all food thanks to fexofenadine."

Fexofenadine "I have had chronic hives for 7 years now. I have tried everything. I am on Singulair and Blexten once a day but have to go on prednisone every second week. I tried Allegra for my hives, taking 3 pills once a day, but it has done nothing for me. I wish someone could give me a cure."

"Suffered for 15 years, went to many doctors. Went to an immunologist, put me on 2 Allegra morning and night. Said regular dose will not suppress them. Amazing results. Also took Xolair shot, extremely expensive, but insurance did pay."

"This medication has reduced the hives and swellings I get when touching cold items like keys, refrigerated vegetables, and frozen foods. It has also reduced my skin's reaction to touch and pressure. I have noticed, though, that my skin on my face is getting 'rougher' and not as soft as it was before I started taking the medication 4 months ago."

"I am suffering from a strong urticaria. I took fexofenadine 180 mg. I felt very good, and the urticaria has 90% gone. But after 1 week, it returns, idk why, and I was still taking my pill. So I started taking 1 pill in the morning and one at night, and the urticaria is still here. But I’ll never give up, maybe I am going to use hydroxyzine now."

Fexofenadine "I’m 54, have been suffering with chronic hives since I was 9 (1979). I’ve had tests done and biopsies done and nothing. Chemotherapy was supposed to knock it out and did for a while but came back. Benadryl did not help at all. I heard about Allegra and tried it. Within an hour, I felt so much better but had breakthrough hives. I also suffer from anaphylaxis shock. If they get on my lip, I assure you, it’s headed towards my throat. I got one on my lip after I had taken Allegra, but it quickly went away. So very thankful for this medication. I’m also required to carry an EpiPen in case of emergencies."

"It is nearly one year I am suffering from urticaria. It is true that MDs don't know what causes it. Allegra (fexofenadine) is the only medicine that works for me. Again, it works differently with other people. However, 180 mg morning and night is a recommended dose. This is expert dermatologist advice given by my GP for me. E45 itch relief (urea, lauromacrogols) also helps for immediate itch relief."

"For several years, I have been taking a daily combination of fexofenadine and famotidine for chronic urticaria. It seems to work. I was having constant red blotches with itching, primarily on my hands. I have experienced no noticeable side effects."

"I get severe swelling (angioedema) from bee stings. The last sting was on my right hand, which swelled up so bad I couldn't bend the fingers or use the hand at all. The forearm also swelled up. The doctor gave me fexofenadine and a strong antihistamine cream. Within two days, the swelling was almost gone, and by the third day, everything was back to normal, whereas usually it takes a week. Also, while taking the medicine, I hardly had any itching from the venom. As I was using a cream in combination with the medicine, I can't say it was all due to the fexofenadine, but for sure it helped a lot. In addition, I had no side effects at all, which is unusual as usually I develop at least one or two when taking medicines. I will use this again if needed."

"Worse experience with this. I will never take it again. I only had one tablet, and within 10 minutes, my ears were ringing and thudding. Made me very drowsy. Woke up at 4 a.m. Severe night sweats, awful dreams. Have felt sick and dizzy all day and not with it. Dry mouth and headache. I don’t know if I just had a bad reaction, but I never experienced anything like this. I’m a single mom and had to look after my daughter, feeling like this was a very scary experience for me! Never again, and these should not be allowed to be bought over the counter. Awful and has put me off taking any type of this medication now."

"I experienced facial hives for the first time at age 55, possibly due to a new face cream containing bee venom. I discontinued the face cream but found that changing products and even using no facial products still caused urticaria. I was prescribed 180 mg fexofenadine, which cleared the urticaria immediately. My pharmacist said it was safe to take daily indefinitely. I have been taking this drug for six months now until my GP advised me to stop taking it today. I have also put on 8 kg in weight in the last six months and did not realize that there may be a connection with the fexofenadine. I’ve just read that antihistamines can increase one’s appetite. I had put the weight gain down to the menopause and poor willpower. My asthma has also gotten worse in recent weeks, and my dreams are more vivid than ever. No idea if fexofenadine is responsible. Let’s see how the next few months pan out."

Fexofenadine "I never write reviews, but have to for this. I have been suffering for the last two days with an awful outbreak of hives in large areas all over my body. I haven't been able to sleep for two nights and barely able to work. About an hour ago, I picked up Allegra Hives 24 and took one pill. The itching is completely gone, and the hives have faded and are disappearing. Not sure yet of any side effects, but could not be as awful as this outbreak. The product has been a lifesaver for me - I have this reaction to bug bites from time to time, and this will always be available in my home from now on."

"Came out with stress hives. Tried cetirizine, loratadine, they didn't work. Doctor prescribed this, and it got worse! It's 4 am, and I can't wait for GP to open so I can beg for some prednisone. Am in agony. That has spread everywhere. This medication has done nothing."
