Implanon (etonogestrel) "I have had Implanon since March 2008 and the main side effects that I have are periods that are long lasting from 10 to 21 days, no libido/sex drive, and mood swings. My partner complains because I'm frequently on my period, which can be very frustrating."

Implanon (etonogestrel) "I had the Implanon fitted in May this year. From having it fitted I think I bled for nearly 9 weeks. I have put on a stone in weight and have suffered really bad mood swings feeling sometimes like I'm going mad. I felt tired all the time with no energy. I was really snappy with my children and my other half all the time. I am normally a really laid back sort of person but this changed me into a nutter."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "My daughter had the Nexplanon implanted about a year and half ago although I told her I thought it was a bad idea. It has not been studied in women under the age of 18. After about the first 2 months I saw the light in my daughters eyes go out. She had horrible cramps, break through bleeding lasting weeks and severe mood swings and depression. On Friday January 31st at 8pm my daughter was taken to the local ER for suicidal thoughts. After 36 hours of awfulness she was admitted to a psychiatric care facility and put under suicide watch. The Dr that gave her this implant did NOT educate her on the side effects it can cause, especially the mental side effects. She will be discharged in a few days and has an appointment to have it removed immediately. Do NOT get this form of birth control! Especially if you have ever been diagnosed with any type of ADHD, bipolar disease, OCD, etc. I’m grateful she saw that something was not right and sought help before I lost her."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I have had this for about 2 and a half years now. It has really taken a toll on my life. I’m either feeling sad or mad. I have no sex drive. The weight gain is ridiculous, I gained 20 pounds since being on this birth control. Losing weight is so hard, I can workout and fast and I only lose a pound. I didn’t have a period for the longest time and now I randomly have my period or spotting. I can’t even track it properly because it’s a mess. Don’t get me wrong if you can handle all of this then this is a product for you. The birth control part of it is great."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "This is my 3rd insertion of the Nexplanon and will be removing it indefinitely as soon as possible. I noticed on the 2nd insertion that my moods were out of whack, I gained a lot of weight and towards the end of the cycle I felt myself again. After a month of my 3rd implant I again feel noticeable moments of sadness and anger for no reason!!!! My husband confirms that it’s an off/on switch with my moods and he doesn’t understand why. This is not worth it...I will gladly pop out another kid if it means not dealing with this terrible birth control method."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I absolutely love Nexplanon. I got it inserted in July 2013. Since then I have one extremely light period that lasted two days. I have no experience weight gain. I have always had very little acne and Nexplanon did not cause my acne to increase. I also haven't experienced a changes in moodiness. I recommend Nexplanon to my friends all the time. I also have a friend that has it and she really likes it although she has experienced some weight gain. I am very surprised so many people have had such a terrible experience. If you are considering getting Nexplanon do not let these horror stories scare you away. Everyone has a different experience so you'll have to see if it's a good birth control option for you."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "In reading the comments, many have experienced abnormal bleeding and other symptoms. I highly suggest getting frequent check-ups with your doctor. My daughter (30s), got the implant 2 years ago. Seemed ok the first year, had no periods, then occasional periods. Then this year, very heavy, clotting bleeding started, often. Plus back pain, dizziness and headaches. Doctors thought kidney stones because of the back pin. Then they thought possible urinary tract infection because urinating became painful. Then the bleeding and symptoms got worse. This week, 11/22/19, my daughter has been diagnosed with Cancer!!! Possibly cervical/uterus. We’re waiting on further tests. I don’t know if it’s related to this medication; but I want to tell anyone who is experiencing side effects with bleeding, go to the doctor and keep getting checked, and insist they do a thorough checkup."

Implanon (etonogestrel) "I got Implanon on August 6th 2013. Soon after I noticed non-stop bleeding, and mood swings. I cried very often, and also ended a relationship. I went through depression, anxiety and had serious headaches. I haven't quit bleeding for more than a week since I've been on it. I don't recommend it to anyone under 18."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "*DO NOT TRY THIS PRODUCT*!!!!!!! This is my first time, trying nexplanon. Its been TWO weeks and I am actually having it removed TODAY!! All the reviews I've read are accurate and the side effects are immediate, I have anxiety, anger, depression, empty feeling, want to be secluded and that's just mental. Physically dizzy, nauseous, diarrhea, itching face, the area of insertion itches something wicked, like I'm rejecting it... sweating, chills, insomnia. Please don't take the chance without doing your homework first and 99.99% of everyone asked that have and used this thing hated it and or bled for MANY months at a time :("

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I’ve had the implant for over 7 months now. The first 2 months after insertion I only experienced light spotting, although I had severe emotional mood swings that caused me to have panic attacks frequently. Since then I’ve had prolonged heavy bleeding with very little to no breaks between bleeding every month. I had one week 2 months ago when the bleeding stopped and I thought it was finally settling down, only to start bleeding again. I’ve recently been experiencing cramps and severe bloating (I’m quite slim, haven’t gained any weight, yet I look 6 months pregnant). I’ve been getting strange aches and pains all over my body and joints at night time - most of the time it’s sharp elbow pain. The mood swings have been from one extreme to another which has had an impact on my relationships with friends and family. The entire experience has been very physically and emotionally exhausting."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I've had Nexplanon going on 2 years and have had no issues. I have not had a period since it was put in. Only side effect I have had is my headaches have become stronger than when I didn't have it in. I would recommend this to everyone and plan on having another put in after the 3 years is up."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I have been on Nexplanon since January 2013, when it was put in my arm it didn't really hurt, kinda just pressure. I bruised for about a week but then it went away. Honestly 99 percent of the time I don't even remember that I have it, it doesn't hurt in my arm, or anything. I have no side effects, except that my acne got a little worse but that could just be because I'm 20 and still young. It had worked for me 100% of the time, I have no gotten pregnant and I have no had a period since it was inserted."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I got on Nexplanon 5 months after getting in a relationship, I have been on it for about a year now. Thinking back, I remember myself being really happy before it. As soon as I got on this birth control I felt like everything went down hill. I am really depressed. I cry randomly, I get sad at least everyday. I have a lot of good things going on for myself. I just got hired for a job I've been wanting for a while, I was really happy about it for about an hour, then the rest of the day my mood changed. I was crying, and didn't know why. I have been thinking the worst. Also, now feel like I don't even want to be with my boyfriend even though he treats me good. I just don't want to be close to anyone. I have pushed everyone away. I've isolated myself. I get bad mood swings. I am mostly irritated and sad everyday. It has been horrible for me. It might work for some, but for me it hasn't so I'm going to schedule an appointment to get it removed."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I have had Nexplanon since January 9th and so its been a little over 2 months since I've gotten it inserted. I was nervous about getting it inserted but the whole process is a breeze, so if you are considering it don't worry about that! For 2 months, I bled almost every day but it wasn't bad. As time went on, it was less and less. I've read other reviews where they said they bleed everyday and was horrified about that happening to me, but it was hardly noticeable. Sex wise- I haven't gotten pregnant and this is the only form of protection my boyfriend and I use. Also, I didn't get any acne but for the first month, I would get nauseous easily after doing cardio or even after having 1 alcoholic beverage. But that has gotten a lot better."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "First off, THIS BIRTH CONTROL EFFECTS EVERYONE DIFFERENTLY! I originally went to this site after I booked my appointment for insertion just to get a feel for what I was in for. I only saw horribly negative things. My own experience has been fine. Everything that you expect to happen on birth control does. My emotions got the best of me, but they leveled out. I had spurts of acne, but having the correct soap for your face makes all the difference. My period has been off, lots of spotting, but it's really nothing that isn't manageable. My sex drive is better than ever. And I havent gained any weight. The insertion process is quick and painless. I'm also not pregnant! Seriously, try it for yourself, every body is different."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "Let me just say “Wow YEAH TO ALL THESE REVIEWS!! ALL FACTS!!” Gosh dammit I hate all these mood swings. My boyfriend said it’s like I have an on/off switch to my moods that occurred every 10 minutes. I’ve always had the same thoughts that make me depressed and stressed. I’ve had this nexplanon for a month already and now my same thoughts that I think about everyday before this BC are making me hella suicidal. I’ve decided to live in my car just to get away from my problems from my place. Probably going to regret moving in my car once I remove this implant. DO NOT GET THIS!! Especially if you already have mental issues. Unless you only want to get it so you don’t have to deal with getting pregnant"

Implanon (etonogestrel) "I have only had the Implanon for 4 weeks and am going in today to have it removed. I chose this because its an "out of sight out of mind" easier birth control. But the side effects for me have been horrendous. I have had severe anxiety, mood swings, and depression. And instead of little issues rolling right off my shoulders it feels as though its the end of the world. I've never struggled with this before. I've also had literal thoughts of suicide and self harm. Also, caused my sex drive to become pretty much non-existent. Coming from a woman who has been with the same man for 12 years and could have sex 3x per day. I started having no sex drive and had very dry vagina."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "You have to understand that when you look at review pages like this before/right after getting the implant in worry the negative reviews will outweigh the positive simply because when you have a bad experience you want to warn others and most people enjoying life with Nexplanon don't return to the review page that terrified them when they first got the implant. I saw this very page and worried I would have a bad time on the implant boy was I wrong! No period for 6 months and then a light one on the 7th with period pain on only one day of that period. The implantation site is still there if you look but no pain or discomfort. Definitely better than the pill that I was on prior for period pain. Talk to your doctor and make your own choice! GL"

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I have had the Nexplanon implant for almost 8 months now and it has been amazing. I have not had a period since the implantation, but this has been my only side effect. I love the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill every day, and would definitely recommend this method of birth control. I know it can affect everyone differently, but I saw tons of scary reviews on here before I got mine done, and wanted to leave a positive review about how great it has been for me."

Implanon (etonogestrel) "For birth control it definitely works. I've had this in for a little over a year. I do get my period every month. But I feel like every other month I either get two periods or it lasts for 3 weeks at least. I am also NEVER in the mood for sex. I'm considering getting it out sooner than 3 recommended."

Implanon (etonogestrel) "Honestly I thought this birth control was the best at first told everyone I knew to get it. But now 4 months later. I can't stand it my emotions have been out of this world, my stress level has been higher and I went from a happy person to hating everything. I never have gotten cramps before I got this put in and they are the worst. The bleeding goes from heavy to light but at random times but means to say I'm getting this removed immediately. Because I know I will go back to my normal self again."

Nexplanon (etonogestrel) "I had Nexplanon fitted in February, so have had it for about three months now. At first I had little desire for sex, and had irregular bleeding. Since they have both cleared up, I've actually lost weight and my breasts have grown, I sometimes get a little spotting but never a full blown period, and overall I think it's a brilliant method of contraception. It's quite surprising to see so many bad reviews! Hopefully I won't develop any more side effects."

I get headaches everyday, I'm on medium to light periods the WHOLE month (always bloated), and I'm losing a lot of hair not the average amount of hair loss after a pregnancy...also regular acne breakouts which I didn't have. Everyone is different."
