For Birth Control "I hate this birth control. Steer clear of this! I originally was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen, but sadly they discontinued it. I never had any side effects from it. The clinicians at Planned Parenthood told me Tri-Sprintec is the generic brand for Ortho Tri-Cyclen, so I didn’t think it would be a problem. But I was wrong! I get so moody, and my anxiety has gone way up. I get chest pains at night and panic attacks before bed every night. I can’t sleep anymore unless someone sleeps in the bed with me, and I’m 20! This birth control has taken over my social life and my own health. Highly do not recommend, but everyone’s body reacts to things differently."

For Birth Control "I was previously on Tri-Cyclen until they switched me over to Tri-Sprintec. At first, I hadn't noticed a difference between the two, but about a few weeks in, I noticed that I started to feel a lot more nauseous. Now that I am about a month into Tri-Sprintec, I've had about all the symptoms in the book. I have had increased negative mood swings, which have put a big damper on my relationship, almost causing me to lose a person I love over dumb, stupid fights, which are caused by me being very irritable throughout the day. Every night this week, I've cried for no reason, and I constantly feel depressed, and my anxiety has been very bad. My boobs are constantly sore, my discharge smells disgusting, I can barely eat, and I'm always angry. Do not use!"

For Birth Control "I am 20 years old, and I had been on Tri-Sprintec for about 5-6 months and never really thought about it giving me major side effects. I had previously been on Levora for 5 years with the purpose of getting rid of major cramps. After 5 years, my cramps began to come back, so I switched to this one without any precaution. Long story short, I ended up in the suicide ward because I was having major thoughts about suicide (which I NEVER have even thought of), along with major depression, and my anxiety level increased drastically. So be careful and change your pills if you need to."

For Birth Control "I can't believe it took me this long to realize my birth control might be the culprit! I had been on Ortho and TriNessa until it was discontinued. I was put on Tri-Sprintec after I stopped breastfeeding my son for a year, and ever since I was put back on birth control, I thought I had been losing my mind! Severe mood swings, high anxiety, and depression. Let's just say my sex drive is non-existent! It has been bothering me for a year, and I finally thought to myself to look into the side effects of Tri-Sprintec, and WOW! We are all in the same boat. I scheduled my appointment to look at other options! Thank you all for sharing your story."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever taken. My pharmacy switched me to this, and I’ve only been on it a little over a week, and I have horrible symptoms! Bloating, weight gain, anxiety, oily skin, tiredness, mood swings, anger, diarrhea, you name it. I have never had a birth control this bad in my life. Do not take this!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for just over 3 months, and I am having the WORST side effects. My hair has been falling out constantly, my mood swings are absolutely insane, I have no sex drive, my anxiety has been through the roof, and I feel very depressed (I also feel very bad for my husband trying to deal with me like this). I finally just had to stop taking it!"

For Acne "It’ll be my 5th month on this pill in about a week. When I first started taking it, I bled for 12 days. It was awful. But I was very hopeful about this pill and very excited because I thought it would clear up my skin. I’ve always had mild acne, but within the past 4 months, my acne has gotten HORRIBLE. I wake up with 1-2 new pimples every day. This pill also made my anxiety skyrocket, as I would cry EVERY DAY for probably 2 weeks. I would have mental breakdowns about stupid stuff, and I’m not necessarily an overdramatic or super emotional person at all. Overall, I’ve heard that the first few months of any birth control is not necessarily the best because you have to get through the side effects before your hormones regulate and your body gets used to it. My acne is still awful, and my 5th month is coming up. If my acne doesn’t go away soon, I am definitely switching from this pill. I have been way too patient, and I am disappointed with the results this pill has given me."

For Acne "1) Cleared my skin up within 4 months. Still occasional problem spots around the time of my period, but it's a joke compared to what I used to have to put up with. 2) POTENTIALLY IMPORTANT: When I got to the last week of hormonal pills (the super-strength hormone-loaded ones before the week of placebos) for the first 5ish months on the pill, I found that I would be prone to existential emotional breakdowns or feel more anxious/depressed than usual that week. I didn't notice the correlation for an embarrassing amount of time. I was very relieved when I did figure it out, and I wish I had figured it out sooner. Now that I've been on it for a year, this problem has almost disappeared. Just something to be aware of for the first few months!"

For Birth Control "Took this pill for 3 months now. It was effective for regulating my irregular cycle and did a good job of clearing up any skin acne. However, it took me several months to figure out why I was suffering from insomnia. When taking this pill, I had feelings of anxiety and such horrible insomnia I would wake up at night an hour into sleeping and just never go back to sleep. My heart would pound, I was sweating. It wasn't until I started marking on my calendar what days I had insomnia and saw a distinct pattern that I realized it must be my birth control pill. I saw my doctor, who let me know that what I was experiencing is called anxiety attacks. I've never had anxiety, didn't even know what an anxiety attack was, but this side effect is debilitating."

For Birth Control "I switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Tri-Sprintec because I was told that it's just the generic form of Ortho and that there's no difference between the two. I've been taking Tri-Sprintec for about 4 months, and for about 3 of those months, I've had HORRIBLE anxiety and depression. I've been having panic attacks and a really bad tight feeling in my chest. I went to the doctor, not even thinking about it being my birth control because it was just a switch to the generic brand, so I didn't list that as a difference in medications, and I really wish I would have because that's the only thing in the past 4 months that has changed. I went to the doctor because my panic attacks were getting worse, and I started having them at work. I felt like I was going to pass out. I've never been on any prescription besides birth control. I realized that during the placebo pills, I felt a little better. Once I started my pack again, it got worse. I'm not taking another pill until I have Ortho Tri-Cyclen back."

For Birth Control "I had no complications with this birth control other than minor nausea in the mornings. If I missed one and took it too close to another one in the same day, I would be throwing up. I probably needed a lower dosage. I did quit for other personal reasons about 2 months ago and have had anxiety. I've been fearful, scared, depressed, and feeling really weird, and it's not me! I feel I can't control it and really believe it to be the birth control since my hormones are unbalanced now. I've read from other women that it gets better after a few months, and I so hope that is true. I'm debating if I want to go back on it to regulate my hormones and period because since it's been some time, I don't want to get sick."

For Birth Control "Used for birth control and period issues - very unhappy. Worked good for preventing pregnancy, along with terrible side effects. Hard time sleeping (if any). Nightmares, anxiety, depression. The list goes on, everybody is different. I recommend trying this pill to see if it's for you, it just wasn't for me. Switching back to my old birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on different BC for over 20 years, and this pill is awful! I've barely made it through month 3, and my family is ready to put me out on the porch! Awful mood swings, everything makes me mad, and not just angry but fuming rage. I've never had vaginal dryness in my life but do now! My anxiety is through the roof, and I feel an impending doom and depression. It's so bad I had a hard time seeing through what was going on and realizing it was this pill till I started reading the reviews. This made me as nuts as YAZ!"

For Birth Control "Absolutely the worst birth control! Made me moody all the time, like I’m on my period every day. I had cramps and a headache all the time. My family and my coworkers could not figure out why I was so anxious and annoyed all the time. I had real anxiety that was growing into depression. Once I stopped using it, I felt so relieved, like I just got rid of a huge burden. I felt normal again. I know they say that all these generic birth controls of this type are the same regardless of the brand. Well, I can tell you they are not! While on TriNessa, I didn’t get any side effects. Then they terminated it and switched me to this one. I asked for a different brand other than Trisprintec, and they gave me Tri Femynor, which also worked great. But they keep running out of it too and keep switching me to Tri-Sprintec, which is always available. They should certainly terminate this brand!"

For Ovarian Cysts "In early November of 2016, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was prescribed birth control named 'Tri-Sprintec,' and a 100 mg per pill diuretic named 'spironolactone.' The reason I was easily diagnosed with PCOS is due to the unbelievably painful menstrual periods I would experience time after time. Not only that, random black hairs would pop up around my face, and I'd have to constantly, routinely pluck my chin to get rid of the single coarse black stubborn hairs. Before I had my medication, my acne and facial hair were terrible, my depression and anxiety made me want to hide. After 3 months of the combination of these meds, I have noticed an instant improvement to my skin. I can't wait for the day when I'm completely acne-free."

For Birth Control "So first I noticed I had increased anxiety, so I dialed down my caffeine intake, which seemed to help. Gained 10 lbs the first month, the second month was the worst. No period, brown discharge from the day it was supposed to start till the day I decided to switch, so breakthrough bleeding for over a month. Haven't gotten acne since I was a teen (I'm 37) and was waking up daily with painful cystic acne. The severe constipation was what made me say 'not worth it.' I'd rather risk pregnancy than die of obstructive constipation. It also caused sun sensitivity, every time I was in the sun, I got sunburned fast and had a strange mottled rash. I'm Hispanic, so I tan and do not burn?! The week my period was supposed to start, I got a yeast infection because of the vaginal dryness it gave me. This was just not the pill for me."

For Birth Control "First month was amazing! I didn’t have many side effects other than being really hungry. I wish my whole experience on this BC could have stayed how I felt the very first month I took it. The second month, breakouts and horrible depression and anxiety! For about 2 weeks I could hardly function because I felt so bad. I was having panic attacks and couldn’t handle small things going on in my life. My face was breaking out pretty badly too. I was embarrassed. 3rd month, constant breakouts. Never a day where I didn’t have at least one zit on my face. I was embarrassed. As someone in their mid-20s, I should not be breaking out this much. I hated it. My depression got better, thank goodness. I have noticed weight gain while being on this pill, but honestly I have to switch because it broke my face out too much. It worked as far as birth control, but I knew I could find something better."

For Birth Control "This birth control has caused me really bad insomnia, I only sleep about 2-4 hours and wake up around the same time every night. Then I am tired during the day! This birth control has caused me to have really bad anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and mood swings. I have been extremely emotional and angry often over nothing. I would not recommend this birth control, and I have also gained 15 pounds."

For Birth Control "I've only been on Tri-Sprintec for a month, and I'm already having severe side effects. Nausea, headaches, acne worse than I've ever had in my life, and the worst, severe anxiety and depression. The second week, I experienced suicidal intrusive thoughts that caused me to go into panic attacks. The only upside for me was that it helped my heavy flow and shortened my period from 6 or 7 days to 4 days. I would much rather live with a long, heavy period than what I went through for a week straight."

For Birth Control "I got on this med due to breakthrough bleeding and periods on my last med (Ortho-Tri-Cyclen). So far, I've had no issues with bleeding. But I've been nauseous every time I take it, with a headache almost daily, more depressed and anxious. I feel angry a lot of the time, and my sex drive is almost completely gone. I get shooting pains through my right ovary and recently took a trip to the ER due to unbearable tearing pains in my ovaries. Needless to say, I'm not going to continue this med. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't suggest this one if you don't want to vomit almost daily."

For Birth Control "I have had severe anxiety and loss of motivation since starting this 2 months ago. My emotions have been out of control. I have had weight gain and water retention. The pain I used to experience due to my endometriosis is nonexistent now, but the vaginal dryness I've started to experience has made sex equally as painful. I've been constantly exhausted but unable to fall asleep. I am done with this medication."

For Birth Control "I started this medication Tri-Sprintec about 5-6 months ago when they discontinued Trinessa, which I was originally on. This medication has had me so anxious and depressed. I have gained weight on it, and I am lethargic all the time. My anxiety is the most worrisome side effect because, as a result, I’ve had panic attacks and crying spells sometimes at random times of the month. Since starting this medication, I’ve been gassy and have had many stomach ailments. Prior to starting Tri-Sprintec, I didn’t have any of these side effects. I was literally told by my pharmacist, “We gave you Tri-Sprintec because Trinessa is no longer being manufactured.” I contacted my OB-GYN today to switch off of it. Yesterday I was at the ER because I couldn’t breathe, and unbeknownst to me, I was having a panic attack. This medication is awful for me."

For Birth Control "I have only been on this medication for three days, and I swear I have never been so depressed in my life! I thought maybe it was my imagination (because obviously three days isn't long enough to actually get a feel for what a medication is like), but after reading the reviews, depression and anxiety seem like a normal side effect. I'm considering stopping it already. I have absolutely no motive at all, and I'm very irritable."

For Birth Control "Was prescribed Tri-Sprintec to treat my PCOS by my endocrinologist. I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, with no side effects, but unfortunately, the company discontinued it. The first night I took Tri-Sprintec at 6:30 pm after I ate dinner. I felt fine up until about 10:30 pm when I noticed I started to feel kind of anxious for no reason and also had an odd feeling in my chest. I went to bed and then woke up at about 4:30 am with terrible nausea, vomited three times, was shaky, and feverish feeling. Most of the morning I felt nauseous, but it did go away by afternoon. I’m not going to continue taking this birth control because of the way my body responded after just one pill. I also had a similar experience with Tri-Lo Marzia last summer, but not quite as bad. I was able to take that one for 3 months before discontinuing it because of nausea. Going to call my doctor in hopes that she will be able to suggest something else with fewer side effects."

For Birth Control "I was on Tri-Sprintec for a year and a half. It's very effective against pregnancy, I believe it helped with acne. I didn't experience any weight gain. However, I did go through a very traumatic 4-month phase before I stopped taking it. Let's see, I had anxiety attacks. I've never in life had anxiety attacks, not even anxiety. I was moody 21 days and happy the 5 days while on my cycle. I was paranoid, scared, cried a lot, and had rage. I stopped taking Tri-Sprintec, and boom, pregnant with twins. But ever since I stopped taking Tri-Sprintec, I haven't experienced any of those things yet, and my twins are 2 years old."
