For Birth Control "I’ve been on Tri-Previfem for about eight months now. I switched after being on a low-dose estrogen pill for 4.5 years to this, which has a higher (but 'not high') dose of estrogen. I switched primarily because I had cystic acne issues (28 years old), and Tri-Prev. was recommended by my dermatologist. This pill absolutely cleared up my acne issues. I barely break out anymore and am very happy. But my period is basically back to a full five days, which isn’t ideal, though it’s always on time. ALSO— breast tenderness is unreal, wow. I am very small chested, and the soreness is intense for a few days the week before my period. Overall, I’m pleased with this pill."

For Birth Control "This is my 4th month after switching from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Tri-Previfem due to my insurance and availability, and I am miserable. For preventing pregnancy, sure, the pill works. But for anything else, it is horrible. I have gained several pounds over the last month and have not changed anything about my lifestyle. My face is breaking out along my chin nearly every day. I am having constant serious mood swings. I am antisocial, and I have no sex drive. I have considered ending my year-long relationship for the tiniest reasons, and I am horrible to my family. I have never had mental health issues before I took this pill, and I am hoping stopping will help me return to my normal self..."

For Acne "Well, I said I would be back. :) I check this too much anyway! I'm now on my second month, about to start my third week tomorrow. I am pretty sure my body noticed that I was going on a higher dose of estrogen because I broke out. I have been broken out around the cheeks, but I just broke out on my forehead. :'( The biggest thing about this medicine is the depression, and even bigger, the anxiety. I still have a sex drive, but my anxiety is unbearable! I can't think straight. I can't relax even though I try. I'm staying on it, obviously, seeing as it hasn't even been 3 months yet, and I would do just about anything to have acne not be a problem. I start school in the second week of August. Please wish me luck!"

For Acne "So I started taking Tri-Previfem after I suddenly started experiencing intense breakouts of cystic acne that I had never experienced before. I began taking Tri-Previfem around September of 2017, and my acne has improved dramatically. They always say it takes at least 6 months for birth control to have any significant changes/improvements, and I definitely experienced an improvement. My sex drive didn’t change as far as I’m aware, but I have clinical depression, so that in itself is a whole other issue. But my skin is clear, my periods are always regular, and I’m baby-free, so I would definitely recommend this birth control looking for a 2-for-1: acne prevention and birth control."

For Birth Control "This pill was very effective for me. I was on it for quite some time, HOWEVER, the reason why I'll never use it again is because it took a really bad toll on my sex drive. I was always dry during sex, even with lubrication, which causes pain and tearing. I knew it had to have been the pill, and once I stopped and we started trying to have a baby, I realized my drive was back and I was no longer dry or experiencing pain. It totally disappeared after a week of not taking them. I will also say that my periods were pretty light, 3-4 days, and came every month like clockwork."

For Acne "I have been on birth control for about 15 years (I don't want kids and can't get permanent birth control because I have never had kids). Anyways, my pills I have been taking for years got switched to Tri-Previfem two months ago, and I was told by the pharmacist it was exactly the same as my old pills. The first month, my breasts swelled so much and hurt so bad, that lasted a few days. I also got really bad cramps, like nothing I have felt before (remind you, I have been on birth control for about 15 years). This month, I noticed acne on my chin and cheek. I am 34 years old and have never had more than one occasional pimple at a time on my face in my life. I will not be taking this pill any longer. Hope this helps anyone looking to try it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Tri-Previfem since 2014. Since my insurance wouldn't cover Ortho Tri-Cyclen, I like that it helped with my heavy periods and completely took away those bad cramps I would get every month. About 3 months ago, I started feeling so bad when it was a couple of days before my period was supposed to come. I would get so moody, depressed, and at times, if something really gets to me, I would really flip out. I really didn't pay it much attention until I started to get them more around the same time each month. It's not as bad as it was when I first started having problems with it. I will continue to take them and hope that the pill company isn't taking away anything or putting anything bad in them."

For Acne "I've had a pretty good experience with this oral contraceptive since I started taking it about a year ago. I originally started taking it as both a birth control method and to help manage hormonal acne that I suffered with as a result of a previous IUD that left me with a hormonal imbalance. Since using Tri-Previfem or Tri-Estarylla (depending on what my pharmacy has at the time), my acne has become significantly better, and when something does pop up, it is much easier to manage. Also, cramping during menstruation is no longer an issue for me. The only 'negative' side effect I've noticed is that I'm left with 'swollen,' painful/sore breasts nearly every day."

For Endometriosis "I have endometriosis and have stomach pain, digestive problems, and abnormal bleeding. The digestive problems are just as bad as they were. My periods are better. The medicine does have side effects such as an unsettled stomach and headaches."

For Birth Control "I started taking this BC last year, 11/2014, when I got the Mirena taken out due to bad acne. A few weeks after starting Tri-Previfem, I started having hypoglycemic episodes after I run (~4 miles). Which continued after every run, so I started taking supplements before and during my run to keep my blood sugar stable. Which helps partly and is very annoying. But, in the last 2 months, I had 2 hypoglycemic episodes in the morning without any physical activity. It's now 8/2014, and I've decided to stop taking them. Cons: hypoglycemia, stomach bloat during period. Pros: no acne, regulated periods (precise day and roundabout time of day), minimal/no cramps."

For Acne "This BC helped with acne, but I also used Epiduo with it. The first month was great, no nausea or headaches (I'm prone to headaches). My acne was mild, and this pill helped clear it up a lot, along with Epiduo. The second month was where all the problems started. Within two days of the first week, I started getting headaches along with nausea and vomiting. It was awful, I threw up every night while taking this. I had a headache for four days straight as well. I'm not even to my second week of the second month of taking this, and I can't do it anymore, it's not worth it for me. My hormones are crazy, I'm not used to being so emotional and crying all the time. I wanted this pill to help clear up my mild acne, but I don't care anymore, this isn't worth it."

For Acne "The main reason I started using this medicine was because of my acne. I am on my 3rd month of this medicine and nothing. I was so hopeful that this would clear my skin up or that I would see some type of improvement by now. There is a little difference... my acne is worse at times than it was before! So far, I am very unsatisfied with this medicine. Birth control is my last option for treating my acne. I went to the dermatologist for years and nothing. This was my last hope, and I seemingly no longer have any hope for clearing my skin. The only side effect I have gotten while being on this birth control is that my boobs grew like 2 sizes, which I personally hate. I liked having small boobs. I'm giving it 3 more months, then I'm switching."

For Birth Control "I really hate this birth control. I have taken others and had no side effects or anything go wrong, but this pill has basically ruined my social life. I have been taking it for a little over a month, and since the second I started taking it, I have had my period. I have no sex drive and constant bleeding. I have noticed I'm super moody, and for the first week, it made me sick to my stomach, and I stopped eating because of how it made me feel. I hate this pill, but my doctor makes it difficult to switch."

For Birth Control "The birth control does well with keeping you from getting pregnant. But I'm on my third month of taking the pill, and I've been bloated for about a week and a half now. I lost my appetite, mood swings, and headaches."

For Birth Control "I went on this pill about 4 or so years ago and did not have too many issues. I occasionally broke out from time to time and I did gain a little weight over the last few years, but I think that's more my fault for living off a college diet and not exercising like I should have. I went on the pill almost as soon as I became sexually active and have not had any pregnancy scares, so it did that job in that respect. It also kept my periods regular and fairly short (about 4 days). However, around the time of my period, I experienced extremely bad headaches (sometimes migraines accompanied with vomiting), so my doctor just switched me over to a new pill recently. But other than that, I've had no complaints and would recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "First of all, the worst side effect for me is the constant yeast infections. Never had one in my life until I started this pill, now I will have one constantly, cured for a week, then it returns with a vengeance. So dry down there, to the point where my partner and I had tension about one of us unknowingly carrying an STD (neither of us were). Absolute horrific mood swings, you will become a completely different person. Nausea. Sweating. Weight gain. All of the things you don't want. It took me 3 months to realize this pill was the source of my misery. Do yourself a favor and stop it, there are so many better options out there, ladies! Best of luck x o."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for almost three years. No pregnancy scares, no side effects, regulated my period, and I had intense cramps for the four years I was on my period before I started taking this. Sick the entire week, couldn't walk and puking every day. And since I've taken this birth control, I have had cramps probably twice."

For Birth Control "I have been on Tri-Previfem for almost a year, and I love it. I originally did the Depo shot, and it made me gain a lot of weight, but this did not make me gain any weight. My skin has cleared up completely, I have no acne, and I used to have cystic acne. My periods are very light and very regulated, plus I haven’t gotten pregnant, so I know it works in that area too. I definitely recommend this birth control. I weigh 135 pounds, and I’m about 5’6” just for reference."

For Birth Control "I've been on the pill for over three weeks, and the side effects are horrible. I've gained 10 lbs in just these three weeks. I've been bloating really bad and thought I was pregnant. I originally got on this pill for mainly my acne, and the pill made it worse. I've woken up with terrible migraines and being nauseous. My mood swings are bad, and sometimes I'm depressed because of the weight gain. I couldn't ride my horse, the soreness of my breasts was terrible. I'm thinking about getting off this pill and trying a different one."

For Acne "My body is not taking this pill well thus far. I started out my BC journey with Tri-Lo Marzia, which worked for about 5-6 months, and then it stopped working as effectively. That's when I was upgraded to the Ortho Tri-Cyclen instead of Lo, a generic called Norgee by Glenmark, which was amazing! Cleared up my acne so well, I even forgot I had acne. And now I'm having a stint where I'm breaking out bad. My pharmacy now carries Tri-Previfem, and my forehead has gotten much worse on this pill. I also have cysts on my chin and tiny nodular bumps that are all over my forehead and now spreading down to my nose and chin area. I'm not sure whether I should stay the course of the pack. On one hand, it's only been a week on this, but my acne has gotten really worse this week! On the other, my body may only be freaking out because it's a new thing, I don't know. But for now, I'll keep taking it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was diagnosed with PCOS, which caused abnormal periods to the point where I wasn't having them for years. When I was diagnosed at 14 with it, they immediately put me on Tri-Previfem. For the first 6 months, everything was going great. Then the mood swings started, I suffered from depression before, and then this just made it worse. I couldn't stop crying and never wanted to get out of bed. Last week, I stopped taking this and switched to Junel FE. For birth control, acne, and period regulator, I'd give this a 10/10, but I wouldn't consider being on it for two years or longer like I was because it can greatly mess with your emotions."

For Birth Control "I've taken this pill for two weeks now, and I've had a constant migraine. I just had a baby three months ago, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Also had very heavy bleeding for a week, then it would stop and start again. Also, I'm very moody and sad, where I wasn't before I started taking this medicine. If I still have migraines at the end of this pack, I may switch."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for 6 months, and I have finally decided to stop taking it. Although it did help eliminate my acne, regulate my cycle, and prevent pregnancy, the cons outweigh the pros for me. At first, I didn't really experience too many negative side effects, but as time has gone on, I have become severely depressed, moody, and unmotivated. I am constantly tired and have become extremely forgetful about even simple things. I have become overly anxious and paranoid. I did have anxiety at times before the pill, but it was never this bad. My breasts are constantly sore, and I have absolutely no sex drive anymore. None at all. I know it's this pill causing this, and I need to stop taking it so I can feel like myself again."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for two weeks now, and I have had so many side effects. Sore breasts, stomach cramps, bloating, and very bad acne. I would compare them to pregnancy symptoms. Really hate feeling like I'm pregnant, and it really helped seeing that other girls have had the same experience with this."

For Birth Control "I hate this birth control!!! I used to be on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and I loved it, never had any side effects or problems. I was switched to Tri-Previfem 3 months ago and it has been awful from day one. I have severe headaches from the beginning of my period to the end. I've gained 10 lbs. I have had a yeast infection every month since I've been on it. (I've never had yeast infections before). My mood swings are ridiculous. I never want to have sex. The list goes on. Do not get this birth control!"
