"When I first started this pill, it was great, all of a sudden, I started getting emotional and moody. I would cry for no reason and get mad for no reason. I have been on it for a year thinking things may change, but they didn’t. I would get mad at things I never would have before. I was always a carefree person, and as soon as I started it, it was all downhill from there, and it took me until now to realize it was the pill making me like this. It created a lot of problems for my boyfriend and me, having fights maybe every two weeks. I’ve tried to explain to him this isn’t me, and I can’t control it somehow. I would be fine one second, and the next I would be a mess. Yes, I haven’t gotten pregnant on this pill, which is a plus, but I do not recommend this pill to anyone who wants to keep their mental health! I decided to stop today, and I hope I see a difference in myself because I have really lost myself this year on it and hope no one else has to experience this."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS! I took this BC for a year. I was depressed off and on randomly and had heart palpitations every night and randomly during the day. I never suffered from heart palpitations. I went to a heart specialist, and they couldn't figure out what was causing them since my heart was perfectly fine. I stopped taking this pill after researching the side effects and reading the reviews. After a month of coming off of it, I slowly started feeling like myself again. It's been 6 months off, and I haven't had any heart palpitations in 6 months or any depression or sleep issues. Please be careful on this pill. I wouldn't take it, it's dangerous."

"This was the first birth control I was ever prescribed, starting when I was 18 (I'm now 24). I've always struggled with acne (was on Accutane twice) and heavy periods with heavy cramping. This medication never worsened any of my acne or period symptoms, but also didn't improve them. While taking Tri-Lo Marzia, I had 7-8 day-long periods with the first 1-4 days being very heavy with cramping and it lightening up the last few days. I still broke out around the time of my period, but my acne was not worsened or made better overall by taking this pill. I'm only considering switching now because after 6 years of heavy cramps and period symptoms, I'd really like to not have to deal with it anymore! Overall, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from taking this, but I also think there are better options out there."

"I would NEVER recommend taking this pill. I started this pill in October and was fine for the first two months. The end of December through January (and it is now February 4) I have had the worst anxiety and depression. I was never anxious or depressed before this medication. I have never experienced anxiety aside from nervousness due to school stressors (normal). I now anticipate going to bed early every night to avoid feeling this way. I have also experienced headaches, nausea at night, dizziness, and a fast heart rate as well. I just threw this medication into my garbage pail this morning because of how horrible it is making me feel. Everyone reacts differently to medication, but Tri-Lo-Marzia Birth Control has made me stop taking birth control for good - I am honestly traumatized."

"I have been on this birth control for almost 2 years. I have been suffering from anxiety and heart palpitations, depression, and sleep issues during this time of taking this birth control. I thought it was due to stress, but now, after reading these reviews and seeing that my symptoms are the same, I believe that my anxiety and heart palpitations are coming from this birth control. I will be getting off to see if I start feeling more normal again."

"I had the worst experience. I couldn’t sleep, I had major headaches, and I had hair loss! My hair came out in clumps, it has helped my acne but is not worth everything else I’ve gone through. I have endometriosis, and this doesn’t help it whatsoever, my periods are still so heavy and brutal. This pill has made me feel so anxious and irritable all the time. I will be getting off of it immediately."

"I absolutely love this birth control, Tri-Lo-Marzia. I haven’t had any side effects from it, and it’s done its job as being a birth control. Also, before this birth control, when I had my period, I always got terrible cramps, which made it hard for me to work or move. On the Tri-Lo-Marzia, it makes the cramps go away completely! Will be using this for the rest of my life."

"A year ago, my doctor prescribed this BC to help with my cystic acne. After reading all of the poor reviews online, I never ended up taking it. Fast forward to now, I'd had enough of the acne, and my doctor highly suggested I give this pill a try and not read anything online. So I tried the pill for 3 days and immediately knew I had to stop. The depression was heavy, extremely noticeable, being someone who used to be depressed and is currently in a good place. For reference, I run a business which I am very passionate about, and I literally felt the urge to walk away from it all. For the first time ever, I actually really didn't like my job at all, I could barely get myself to open the store. I knew right away that it wasn't worth it. I hate to feed the fire or to keep anyone from taking this whom it might help, but I can strongly back up all of the reviews that have mentioned depression because it is very real and can make you feel very lost overnight."

"I am only two weeks into my first pack, and I am horrible. This is so bad. My moods immediately shifted, and I became extremely irritable and had random sadness spells. I feel like I have gained 20 pounds, I’m not really sure how much, but I feel so heavy. I have vaginal dryness, low sex drive, and bad back pain. The only good thing that came from this so far is my skin is clearing up. I do not recommend this at all. Please take anything but this."

"I went on Tri-Lo-Marzia after 9 months off birth control. I was previously on Junel, and my doctor said this would reduce the side effects I felt of mood swings. Let me first say everyone’s body is different, however, this increased my mood swings and caused depression in only 3 months. I was irrational, sad, and fought with everyone in my life. Please make sure you have someone you love keeping tabs on you and being honest with you while starting any birth control pill. Consider counseling or therapy if you know you have a history of depression on hormonal contraceptives. If you’re feeling like I did, stop taking it and contact your doctor."

"I have only been on the pill for 5-6 months now, and since I’ve started, it’s been horrible. I got on birth control because I had extremely bad cramps and super heavy flow, which caused me to be nauseous and very weak when trying to walk without taking 3-4 pain pills. I blacked out each time I had my cycle, even at university classes too. Only high doses of pain pills worked. So, the second week, I started feeling sick: constant headaches, nausea 24/7. I lost interest in a lot of things, I constantly felt irritated and I hated talking to people. I wanted to be alone and I felt sad when I was alone but wanted to be around people (very confused). Two months in, nothing changed except for me cramping for 2 weeks, the week before and week of. It was lighter but lasted longer, and I had no appetite at all. And I exercise a lot, but I still look like I’m gaining weight, and my family keeps telling me this. All I can say is be cautious before you use this."

"I have been taking Tri-Lo-Marzia for a little over a year now. I switched over from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo due to my insurance. I certainly don’t care for it! I have gained weight, become very emotional, and suffer from random migraines. I’ve noticed that when I accidentally miss 2 days, I do have heavy bleeding."

"Do not take this birth control. This was my first time ever taking birth control. A week after taking it, I had my first panic attack ever in my life. After my first one, I had 3 since then. Usually, after the attacks, I’ll feel normal the next day. But after my most recent one, I’ve been on edge and haven’t felt myself ever since. I’ve never had problems like this before, and it started around the time I began taking this birth control. I stopped taking them... hopefully, it leaves my system soon."

"I've been taking Tri-Lo-Marzia for about 3 months now. I was placed on it for mainly day 1 period cramps and acne breakouts the week before my period starts. At first, this made me gain about 10 pounds, but since then, my weight has just been fluctuating. Surprisingly, it got rid of the acne, but I've also been taking better care of my skin and haven't worn makeup in forever. But the reason I'm taking my time to leave a review is that I used to have 3-4 day-long periods, and I'm now on DAY 7. It's not even a constant flow, but it's not light enough to be spotting, and it's so annoying. It's safe, I am over that, and I'm getting an IUD."

"I had been on this Tri-Lo-Marzia brand for about 3 months and a half and have decided to stop it entirely and not try any other combination pill. Originally, I was on another brand with a higher dose and had horrible physical and mental side effects that I noticed within a month or so. I switched to Tri-Lo-Marzia as it was a lower dosage of hormones and noticed within the first two months my skin cleared and boobs got bigger. It was not until the third month of taking it that I had a personal issue come up and assumed my anxiety was because of that, but it just got worse for the next four weeks. My last week on the pill has been the darkest place I’ve ever been. I experienced bad anxiety, panic attacks, and creeping symptoms of depression, which I have never had before the pill. Again, everyone’s body will react differently, but I have had such a negative experience with the pill on my mental health and do NOT feel like myself at all. I’m hoping it will leave my system quickly."

"Please do your research before taking this pill. I have been taking Tri-Sprintec for years, no issues. My pharmacy switched my prescription to this, and I didn’t think to do any research before taking it. After 3 days on the pill, I started having extreme depression and suicidal thoughts. I’m normally a very happy, driven individual, and this pill crippled all drive I had for life. I stopped taking it after 3 days and hope it leaves the system ASAP."

"I was on this for about two years, and it did help my acne, but on the downside, it made me very emotional. Not anything too extreme, though. This birth control is fine for anyone who will take it responsibly, because I didn’t, and it resulted in a month-long period for me. But I also have several health problems, including mental, so honestly, it wasn’t that bad (in comparison to other things I’ve taken). If you’re prescribed this, take it. You’ll figure out if you like it or not. I did lose 14 pounds taking this, though."

"Terrible. The first week was nonstop crying for no reason. Anything made me cry. I got terrible facial hair under my chin, also, they were dark coarse hairs. Since each week increases its progestin, the hair got worse each week. As far as pregnancy prevention, it did fine, but just terrible facial hair and headaches. Stopped it and went back to a monophasic pill."

"I've been taking this birth control, Tri-Lo-Marzia, since January 30, 2019. My period was on for about 2 weeks in February. Now everything is fine. Lightened up my cramps and blood flow. No nausea or anything. I take it at 6 pm every day. I recommend."

"I would not recommend this birth control to anyone, I was on it for almost a year, and the only positive was it kept me from getting pregnant. I had horrible acne a month or two after starting the pill, and it continued throughout my time on the pill. I still had painful cramps and headaches on my period, and it also caused me to gain about 15 pounds within a year. I have been off of it for about 2 months, and I've already lost the weight I gained while on it. The bigger problem is that my first period after the pill was 11 days late, and my second period was 11 days early. I've been on 4 different pills before and never have experienced lasting issues after I went off the pill. Do yourself a favor and try something else."

"Within the first 2 weeks, I had horrible acne around my mouth, constant breast tenderness, and immediate weight gain. This was only the tip of the iceberg. As my time on Tri-Lo-Marzia increased, so did my problems. I have never been as moody as I was on Tri-Lo-Marzia, with the most intense mood swings. The depression I had while on Tri-Lo-Marzia was comparable to the depression I experienced during my parents' divorce, only 5 times worse. My final week on it led me to experience the worst migraine of my life, one that persisted for 4 days straight with no moment of peace. What ultimately led me to stop taking this pill was reaching the lowest point in my life, something I have not considered in many, many years, nonetheless seriously considered. My final night with Tri-Lo-Marzia in my system was a culmination of depression, tears, and anger as I am baffled at how a synthetic hormone could cause such havoc in my life. I took this pill for 1 month and 7 days."

"When I first started taking it, I was fine. I had small breakouts here and there, but after about 4 weeks went by, I started feeling really depressed. I cried over the littlest things. I kept overthinking and worrying about things. Honestly, my mood went from happy to really sad in the matter of minutes. I will not be taking this anymore. I strongly do not recommend this pill, but it might be different for you if you take it because everyone is different. It made me really depressed and just stressed out, and I’m still feeling depressed as of now. I just don’t know what to do about it or even tell people about it. TBH, this is my first time talking about it."

"The first month on this was a breath of relief. I switched over from a 90-day pill that messed up my cycle as well as my mood really badly. However, after my first month, I noticed that I was getting awful acne. Then more symptoms began to show where I would be super down for a week and then back to normal after. My doctor and I miscommunicated two months ago, and I missed one pill pack, so when I started again, it was a bigger mess. I had a solid day where I sat in my room and cried over nothing. This pill was definitely not for me. It was an improvement from my 90-day pill, though I was not changing my emotion every hour."

"Honest review here. I have sinus tachycardia, and estrogen is a trigger. I wanted to try birth control again at the lowest possible dose after a couple of years of not being on anything. Within that week, I started getting a burning chest, racing heart, horrible headache, and 24/7 cramps. Threw it in the trash where it belongs."

"So I’ve been taking Tri-Lo-Marzia for a while now (years), and it only now just clicked that it’s probably what’s causing all my problems, when one of the issues I was blaming on a death in the family. Let’s see, 40 pounds weight gain, joint pain, muscle spasms, boils/large cysts, terrible headaches the week before my period. Only recently did I think this was the issue when the spasms happen worst after my cycle when I started a new pack of pills and had none during my period. I have one more row of pills before my next period, and helping with getting switched back to Tri-Lo-Sprintec, things will go back to normal. My pharmacy changed me to Tri-Lo-Marzia without telling me it was different years ago because they weren’t carrying Tri-Lo-Sprintec. Also, I get really anxious or annoyed by stupid little things super fast and just haven't felt right for a while."
